Tenten glared at the man in front of her. Everything in her stance dared him to touch her, but either he didn't recognize the possible danger to his person or didn't believe it possible. Either way, he reached out and lifted her shirt without even looking at her in the face.
She'd managed to avoid taking more than a few sips of the drink they'd tried to give her earlier. She was sick of being lethargic, and needed to keep her wits about her. But it became apparent fairly quickly that it wasn't the same kind of drug this time.
They'd fed them, and Tenten guess they didn't want them to look too skinny. Rice and veggies was all, but it was better than nothing. The drink on the tray had been suspect from the beginning, but she'd been watched, so she couldn't avoid drinking it altogether.
No, it wasn't the same one this time. This drug had a very different effect on her. She found herself thinking about Gai constantly and she realized after a bit what they'd done. She watched the other women as they'd started to behave wantonly to all of the men and it finally clicked.
It was frustrating. Because when the first man had come to "inspect" her and started squeezing her breasts, despite her anger and annoyance at being manhandled, she found her body reacting to it. Of course, that only succeeded in pissing her off. But she couldn't control it and recognized what was going on.
So instead, she did her best to hide it as much as she could. She thought of Gai instead of the nasty men checking her over. Thankfully, when their "inspection" was done, she wasn't one of the women chosen to be kept behind. Though as soon as she thought that, she felt somewhat ashamed. She could spare one of these poor women, at least for another night, if she'd stayed behind.
In the end, it wasn't her choice, anyway. She and most of the others were herded back through another grey cement hallway and back to what was referred to as "the dorm." They tied each of them back to their bed and that's when Tenten realized the real cruelty in what had happened. All those that had been rejected had been spared being used, but now they would spend the evening being equally frustrated.
Tenten's anger at them boiled anew the unfairness of it. What kind of choice is that? They could be used by strangers and the need the drug created would be appeased, or they could avoid being used and sent back to spend the evening tied to a bed in a room full of other women, unable to do anything about it?
She lay back on the cot and closed her eyes. Her mind went immediately to Gai and she couldn't wait until she could see him again. She sighed and tried to turn on the thin mattress, but of course she could only go so far. She gave up trying to get comfortable and found herself wishing for one of the sleeping drinks. At least then she could be oblivious to all of it. Instead, she lay as quietly as she could and began counting the various ways she'd make Fushinji pay for putting these poor people through this.

Sakura paced the small office and found herself again frustrated by her lack of anything concrete to do. She'd organized and reorganized the paltry medical supplies on the shelves and with nothing more to do, she started to come up with creative ways of hurting Fushinji and everyone associated with him.
Her musings were interrupted a short time later as Hitoshi knocked on the doorframe and stepped in. "Sakura? Your friend is back."
Sakura stood up quickly and followed Hitoshi back to the large room. She hurried over to Tenten's bed. "Hey, are you okay? What happened?"
Tenten quickly explained what had happened and what was going on. Sakura glanced around the room and seeing all of the others fidgeting, she understood. "Those bastards. But you're saying there's more than one? How many…buyers were there?"
"Honestly, I lost count. I was trying so hard to ignore them and what was going on with me, that I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. I'm sorry."
"It doesn't matter." Sakura looked around and saw that Hitoshi was the only one in the room currently. She glared at him and he looked uncomfortable. He looked around quickly, though, and turned around. Satisfied, Sakura turned back to Tenten. "Lie still." Very quickly, she concentrated her chakra did her best to counteract what she could for Tenten. "I don't think I got all of it."
Tenten was quiet for a moment. "I feel better, thanks." She smiled up at her gratefully. She glanced around, "any idea how long we've been here?"
Sakura shook her head. "Not really. I'm guessing no more than about twelve hours, but I could be off. I don't know how long we were in the holding cell, for one thing. There's nothing in here that would allow me to get a gauge on time of day. Did you see anything…?"
Tenten shook her head. "Nope. We didn't leave the building. Somewhere attached to this is a sort of club. We were paraded out onto a raised dais and lined up. The club itself was dark, didn't even have much in the way of light on."
Sakura sighed. "Well, I can't do anything more for you right now. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with Hitoshi over there. He doesn't seem like the type to work for someone like Fushinji, but I don't know."
"I know what you mean. He seems very respectful of the women here." She shook her head again. "Anyway, with your help, I should be okay. I heard a rumor that there is another group of buyers coming by tomorrow. There may be a chance to learn more then." She paused and looked away from Sakura. "I may not be able to avoid being kept. I know that Gai knew this was a possibility, but…"
Sakura put a hand on her shoulder. "Gai understands this. He isn't going to think any less of you, no matter how you handle this. You have enough to face and enough to deal with without adding guilt to your pile, okay?"
Tenten let the words sink in for a moment before nodding. "You're right." She sighed. "It seems odd, but even after laying in bed all day, I'm still tired. I think I'm going to try to get some sleep. But, Sakura, can I ask you something?"
"Of course." Sakura felt horrible for the things Tenten was going through. She wished fervently that she could take some of them on herself.
"I think I know how they choose who to keep back." She told her about the behavior the others showed and how she'd felt relieved and ashamed at the same time. "It would almost feel like a betrayal of Gai if I were to drink enough to be held back, but if I could spare one of them that…what do I do?"
Sakura stared at her a moment. That was a hell of a thing to consider. But she knew in a heartbeat what she would do, if she were in Tenten's place. "Gai would not see it that way. If anything, I think he would be proud of you for putting yourself in the way of someone else."
Tenten's face was a mask of pure relief. "Thank you."
Sakura leaned over and hugged her awkwardly before getting up. "If you need me, try to talk to Hitoshi. I think he'll come get me."
Tenten nodded. "Thanks again."
Sakura looked at her a moment longer before turning away. She tried her best to concentrate on simply getting to the other end of the room. She wanted so much to help the other women in the room, but there was nothing she could do at that moment. Sighing, she approached Hitoshi. "Unless I am needed here, I suppose you should take me back."
He stared at her a moment before opening the door and leading her back to the other room. When they got there, she leaned against the table and stared at him a moment. "Can you at least give them the sleeping drug so they can sleep through it?"
Yet again, he looked distinctly uncomfortable. "I'm not supposed to. They are supposed to be left in case more are needed."
Sakura wanted to growl, but she kept her cool. "How long?"
He sighed. "Until Fushinji wills it. It could be a couple of hours or he could make them wait the whole night."
Sakura clenched and unclenched one fist. "Is there anything else I'm needed for? Do I just sit here and wait?"
Hitoshi shrugged. "As far as I know. I must go see if I am needed. I'll return as soon as I can."
Sakura watched him leave, a swirl of emotions doing battle within her.
