Sometime after midnight, Neji felt Hinata stir beside him. He was awake instantly, sitting up next to her. “Get Sakura,” he threw over his shoulder, knowing someone was there. He held her hand tightly. “Koishii?” He activated his Byakugan and inspected her chakra network. It was still low, but replenishing steadily.
Hinata opened her eyes. She scrunched her forehead. “What happened? What time is it?”
He released his trait and studied her face. “Late. I’m not even sure how late it is. How are you feeling?”
She considered glossing over it, not telling him, but he’d know the lie for what it was. “I’m still very tired. What happened?”
“You passed out right after you removed the seal from Yasashii-san.” Sakura came in at that moment.
“Oh, good, you’re awake. Neji?” She called him over to her. “How’s her chakra?”
“It’s getting there, but it’s not there yet.”
Sakura nodded. “I don’t expect she’ll be back to herself for another couple of days. Let me take a look.” She moved over to the bedside, leaned over Hinata and her hands began to glow green again. “You’re going to be out of commission for another two days, at least. You need rest – bed rest.”
Hinata didn’t look too happy. “I need to get back to Konoha. I need to know what’s going on with the clan. And I need to start removing the brands.”
“You won’t be doing a lot of that for a while. In fact, I think it would be best if you restrict it to no more than two a day, at most. And space those out, at that. If it were up to me, I’d say twelve hours apart, but…” She stood up. “Rest here for two more days. Then walk back to Konoha or take a carriage or something. I know,” she said when she saw Hinata wrinkle her nose. “I know how you feel. Then walk. Take your time and let Neji carry most of the stuff. Then check in with me when you get back. “
Hinata sighed. “Okay, Sakura-chan. Thank you so much for coming out.”
“Of course, what are friends for? Besides, Tsunade-sama sent me. I’m not about to disobey her.”
Hinata giggled. “No, I guess not.”
“HEY! You’re awake!!” Naruto came up to the bed behind Neji. “How’re you feeling?”
She made a face and he laughed. “Like I’ve been in a fight with you.” Naruto laughed even harder.
“Good one, Hinata-chan. Hey, you listen to my wife and do what she says, okay?” He leaned over and whispered. “I just said that so she doesn’t hit me.” He winked at her and she laughed.
Sakura knocked him on the head. “Naaaruuuutooooo!” Hinata laughed again as Sakura chased Naruto out of the room. Kiba and Shino came up to the bed next.
“Glad you’re okay. You scared us, Hinata-chan.” Kiba grinned and Akamaru put his front paws up on the bed.
“WOOF!” Akamaru wagged his tail and almost knocked a lamp off the table next to the bed. Neji caught it just in time. Hinata scratched him behind the ears. “I’ll be fine, Akamaru. Thanks, guys. I’ll be okay. Well, I guess we’re done, but it looks like it’s going to take a while to get home.” She frowned. “This isn’t exactly what you signed up for.”
“Do we care? No, we do not. We are just happy that you are okay.” And with that Shino backed up and made his exit, Kiba and Akamaru following.
Tenten and Lee were the only ones left with Neji and Hinata. Tenten came up and sat on the other side of her from Neji. Hinata could see the red eyes and tear tracks. “Ten! Why are you crying?!”
Tenten sniffled. “I thought…” she stopped and sniffled loudly.
“HYUUGA NEJI!!!” Hinata glared at her husband.
“What?!? What did I do??” Neji stared at his wife.
“Tenten shouldn’t be upset like this! It’s bad for the baby!” Hinata scolded.
“Hey, I tried to tell her to stay calm, but she didn’t listen! And why are you blaming me? What about him?” Neji jabbed a finger in Lee’s direction.
Hinata turned her scowl toward Lee. She pointed one finger and Lee jumped as if she’d shot lightning out of the tip. “I tried to tell her, too!!” He backed up and hid behind Neji.
Neji looked over his shoulder. “Coward.”
“Yes, Neji-san. When it is Hinata!” He hid behind Neji again.
Hinata couldn’t keep it up, she started laughing again. When she calmed down, she looked first to Tenten, who had finally stopped crying to Lee who had come back out from behind Neji to Neji, who looked like he was questioning her sanity. “I’m sorry. I…thought it would cost a lot of chakra, but I didn’t expect it to be that much. And, well, now we’re stuck here even longer. Not that I mind Yasashii-san’s hospitality, but I’m sure you guys have things to get back too…” She trailed off.
Tenten shook her head. “Not really. We would be helping with the rebuilding, if anything. Like most of the shinobi right now.” She paused and peeked up through her lashes. “I’d rather be with you, anyway. We both would.” She looked over her shoulder at Lee, who nodded his agreement.
Hinata sighed. “Okay. Wow, that little bit and I’m tired again.” She yawned behind her hand and scooted over on the bed, then patted the space next to her. “There’s room, I don’t want this whole thing to myself.”
Tenten crawled up to lay next to her and Lee and Neji took their places. Hinata fell asleep quickly, but the other three were lost in their thoughts and it was a while before they fell asleep.
Early the next morning, Lee and Tenten slipped out to avoid uncomfortable questions. Neji insisted on carrying Hinata into the bathroom to take care of her business, much to her embarrassment. When she was settled back in bed, Sakura came in to check her over before they left.
When the green glow had faded from her hands, she smiled. “You’re chakra should be fine sometime today. I still want you to rest for today and tomorrow. NO training, and if you insist on a shower, make sure someone goes in with you. Oh, and make sure when you…”
“I know, I know, walk home and let Neji carry the stuff.” She made a face, but agreed. “I need to be strong for the clan when I get back. The last thing I can show the elders is weakness. I’ll follow your instructions.”
“Okay, then.” Sakura leaned over and hugged her, then Neji before she waved and headed out.
Naruto came in and hugged her, too. “Be careful, Hinata-chan. And don’t scare us like that again. Neji freaks me out when you’re in danger.” He laughed at the scowl on Neji’s face. “Take care. We’ll see you back in Konoha.” And with that, he left.
The two from the Sand also bid their farewells before heading back home. Yasashii brought in some soup that she said was guaranteed to help build chakra, then left the shinobi alone.
They spent the day mostly in the bedroom with her, playing Shogi and trying to entertain her as much as they could. She slept on and off, but by late afternoon, she was starting to get restless. She stretched and then wrinkled her nose. “Eww, I need to clean up.”
Kiba and Shino made their exit and Neji picked her up to carry her into the shower, Lee and Tenten following. “I can walk,” she grumbled. Neji chuckled, but refused to let her down. She sighed.
They all undressed and stepped into the shower, the three surrounding her. It was a simple way for them to get close after their scare. Tenten washed her hair and Neji and Lee took turns washing her off. Hinata luxuriated in the attention for just a few minutes before taking one of the washcloths. “Please, let me do something.”
Tenten rolled her eyes, Lee shook his head and Neji glared. “Honestly, I’m feeling better. I’m not using chakra, I just want to…” Neji looked aggravated, but stepped back so she could bathe him. She took her time, enjoying the ability to touch. When she finished with him, she turned to Tenten. “Please?”
Tenten giggled, but nodded. However, about halfway through, Hinata started to feel unsteady. “I’m sorry. I guess I’m still not quite there, yet.”
“Don’t be silly. I only said yes because you would have wasted more energy arguing.” Tenten hugged and kissed her.
Neji wasted no time. He dried her off and carried her back to the bed. Lee and Tenten finished up quickly, dressed and came back in with her.
Hinata grumbled, but as she lay down, she yawned. “I guess I better nap. You guys go get some fresh air. I’ll be fine.” She didn’t realize that they didn’t listen. She was asleep before the bed moved as Neji lay down on one side and Lee and Tenten took their places on the other.

Over the next day and a half, Hinata started to feel a lot better. On the afternoon of the second day, they took her outside for fresh air. She enjoyed sitting up against Neji, feeling his arms around her, while she breathed in the scent of autumn.
They talked about the return trip and the time they expected it to take. They made plans for their stops, including the hot spring once more. They would still need to take watches. Kabuto was no longer on the loose, but the fear of the elders that they were worried about sending someone to hurt her was still a very real possibility.
That evening, they packed their stuff and got ready to go. They would be leaving early the next morning. Yasashii cooked up a small feast of travel food for them to take along. She even gathered the herbs for Hinata’s tea and put them together for her.
As they were leaving the next morning, Yasashii and Mori bade them farewell. Yasashii cried and made them all promise to come back and see her after the babies were born. Mori bowed low to Hinata, despite her protests. She hugged them both and they started on their way.

The slow pace frustrated Hinata. She knew it had to be bothering the others, but they wouldn’t let on. Neji held her hand firmly as they walked, and he kept activating his Byakugan to check on her and the babies, who seemed none the worse for wear for the incident.
Earlier than she’d like, they stopped to make camp, but when Neji and Tenten went to put dinner together, she put her foot down. “We need it to be edible,” was all she said before taking the pot from him. She sent Kiba and Shino for wood and Lee and Neji for water and put some of the food on to warm.
Tenten set up the tents and before too long, they were eating. They spent the evening laughing and talking about past missions and then the girls headed into the tent to settle down for the night. They got undressed and laid down onto the bedroll, snuggling together.
As they lay, facing each other, Hinata blushed and whispered, “Ten?”
Tenten smiled, “Yes, Hina?”
Hinata blushed even brighter. “I’m…frustrated.”
Tenten got a puzzled look on her face. “Why? We’re making good progress; I know you hate having to walk, but…”
Hinata shook her head. “No, not that.” She couldn’t come out and say it. “It’s been four days…” she blurted.
Tenten’s face cleared and she grinned. “OH! Me, too.” She blushed, as well. She moved closer to Hinata and kissed her gently. Hinata returned the kiss, softly brushing her lips over Tenten’s. Their bodies close, one of Hinata’s legs slipped between Tenten’s and the intimate touch caused Tenten to gasp.
Their kissing deepened, hands touching everywhere. They broke apart and Hinata ran her fingers down Tenten’s face. Tenten smiled up at her, her eyes shining, their lips a scant inch apart. Tenten traced a line of kisses down Hinata’s face and neck, nibbling lightly at the sensitive spot behind her ear.
Hinata’s thoughts travelled back to that first night with Neji in the inn. The soft loving, the sweet kissing, the light touches and she realized, in that moment, what was happening – no, what had already happened. They rolled until Hinata was over Tenten and she treated Tenten to the same attention that she’d been given.
She nibbled lightly on her ear, trailing kisses down her neck and over her collarbone. She smoothed her hair back from her face and worshipped it with her lips.
The passion took Tenten and her hands met Hinata’s, fingers intertwined and the realization hit her. Their lips met again, grew heated and it was Tenten’s turn to give. She nuzzled the soft spot of Hinata’s neck, kissed a trail over her chest, then their lips met once more.
They broke apart, both gasping for breath. “Ten –“
“Hina –“ they spoke at the same time. Tenten waited, and Hinata, shy no longer, whispered, “I love you.”
Tenten smiled, “I love you, too.”
Hinata shook her head. “No. I’m in love with you, Ten…” She held her breath, hoping…
Tenten kissed her gently. “Me, too. I knew I loved you, but I didn’t realize how much – how much I was in love with you, until just now. When I thought I’d lost you…” She paused and closed her eyes, resting her head on Hinata’s breasts.
Hinata hugged her close, kissing the top of her head. “I’m not going anywhere. Especially now.”
Tenten smiled and their lips met again, and this time it grew heated quickly. Tenten’s lips travelled down Hinata’s body, tasting everything, her breasts, her stomach, before moving back up to her face. Hinata took over, wanting nothing more than to give to Tenten the same pleasure.
Before long, they were panting and gasping, and Hinata’s hand found the spot she knew would drive her Ten crazy. Her fingers parted the curls and in just a few minutes, Tenten was crying out Hinata’s name. A moment later, Tenten did the same for Hinata and in the aftermath, they kissed tenderly, holding each other close.
