IMPORTANT AN:
There’s a lot of words in this one, a lot of speech mostly. But it’s to develop Kushina’s character in this story. Where she’s a willing slave of Danzo, a person who retains her personality but is still obedient to her master to a fault.
I know a few of you might be kind of bored with this kind of stuff, but honestly, I think just straight up mind control would be so boring. Building stuff up like this is what I prefer. I promise I won’t go too slow though and that there will be a few short time skips here and there soon.
Here’s a few important stuff I’m going to/will cover since they’re pretty important.
-Training and educating Kushina.
-Kumo Kidnapping.
-Chunin Exams.
-Seduction/Assassination Missions.
-Third Shinobi World War.
There’s more to be added too, but now I’m currently short of ideas. Feel free to contribute your own ideas and situations if you’d like. Each of these story lines will have sex of some kind in them.
But I’d like to know what you guys think.
So without further ado, here’s the next chapter.
Kushina was surprised when she was led towards a rather desolate part of Konoha, far away from the prying eyes of civilians and the average shinobi. In fact, her guide led her away from the crowded parts of Konoha where the academy had been built at and off to the dirt path of the road less travelled.
She would’ve tried to strike up a conversation with the silent man, but at the hasty pace he was moving at, she figured that he wasn’t too interested in speaking with her. Either that or he was afraid of being out in broad daylight where he could be seen by just about anyone for too long. The man did give off a feeling that he was quite paranoid of being spotted, looking quite uncomfortable to be out and about despite wearing a hooded cloak and a mask.
Her grin had faltered at some point in time due to the building suspicion and weariness she had for the masked man guiding but kept a vigilant eye out for any movements that would warrant putting up a fight.
Not that she didn’t trust Danzo-sama or the aides he sent, but it was always better to be safe than sorry. She was sure that her new sensei would understand since he himself seemed quite selective of whom he trusted and had a guarded air around him almost constantly. The young Jinchuuriki was rather happy that she was one of the few he trusted and she hoped that she could further that bond with him.
As they walked in silence, Kushina eventually caught sight of a lone building in the far distance. Surrounded by trees that were even taller than it, the building was quite well hidden and she would’ve probably never found it had it not been for her guide. The dirt road she had been walking on had slowly turned into grass a while ago, thus there was no distinct path for her to follow. And she had the feeling that while her guide was more comfortable leaping from branch to branch like a shinobi, he was forced into walking for her sake since she had yet to learn tree-climbing or water-walking.
They climbed the stairs and the man pushed the door open without even pausing in his movements. She got a good look at the inside of the building as they continued to move. A ceiling that was painted completely black and walls that were a light blue, there was nothing really off putting about it. The floors had been tiled neatly and she noted that only she was making footsteps despite the pace her guide was walking at.
Kushina widened her eyes a little in surprise. ‘Damn, these guys are quiet as hell. I probably wouldn’t even hear them if they snuck up on me.’ With that in mind, they walked towards the counter where a receptionist sat.
She was a young woman, somewhere around the age of eighteen to her early twenties, simply sitting there and staring off into space. As far as looks went, she was rather pretty in Kushina’s opinion and wore a formal attire that fit the role of a secretary.
As soon as the doors had opened, her eyes snapped onto the masked man first before they met Kushina’s. Kushina was about to ask if they had stepped into the wrong building but stopped when she noticed that it was rather quiet. And the secretary looked as if she had been expecting them, which was rather unsettling. But what was worse was definitely her eyes.
The crimson haired girl had to withhold a shiver at the sight of those brown eyes staring at her.
While they appeared to be full of life and mirth, there was something that just wasn’t right about it. Those wide, happy eyes seemed so… so fake — completely clashing with the rest of her neutral face. It was as if someone had ripped the eyes of a normal person right out and slapped them onto a mannequin’s face. Unblinking and completely focused onto her, they only looked away when the masked man reached the counter.
“Yes?” She spoke in a pleasant sounding tone that Kushina felt had been practised. And that smile that had split across her face. It was sweet. Too sweet. And it made her skin crawl. “How may I assist you today?”
And Kushina finally heard the voice of her thus far silent guide, “We are the backbone of Konoha.” He said in a voice that fit a dead man, completely ignoring the woman. “Unseen and forgotten, yet vital and necessary.”
The woman blinked and nodded. Her hand reached under the desk before it resurfaced, then she spoke again.
“Always supporting!” The little jingle seemed rather ominous and eerie and Kushina was simply uncomfortable with how they spoke. She managed to be both monotonous and happy at the same time and that shit just did not sit well with her.
With that said, the man beckoned for Kushina to continue following him. And that she did. While she wasn’t comfortable with her guide, it was much better than that ominous receptionist that continued to stare at her with those hair-raising eyes until their vision broke off as Kushina ascended the stairs.
She failed to noticed the large group of shinobi that had been hidden on the darkened ceiling of the building, their eyes following her every move.
At the top of the stair, Kushina found herself face to face with yet another door but this time her guide did not open it immediately. Instead, he stopped by it and turned to her, staring at her through the holes of his mask.
“I will proceed no further.”
“Won’t or can’t?” She laughed nervously, but the man continued to stare as if he was processing the joke. It didn’t take long for her laughter to die down.
Kushina supposed that he wasn’t too big a fan of jokes.
“Knock, then enter.” With that, he vanished in a flicker, leaving a slightly creeped out Kushina behind.
“At least he was nice about it.” Kushina sighed. She did as she was told and entered. Stepping into the rather spacious room, she closed the door behind her and was met with her sensei, who was currently occupying a chair on the far side of the room.
The room wasn’t heavily furnished. Simplistic items necessary such as chairs and a few small tables were scattered about the room. There were a few stacks of papers sitting on a table, but they didn’t seem to be too important if they had been placed to one side.
“Ah, Kushina. I’ve been expecting you.” The man looked up from the newspaper he held within his hand.
“Sorry, Danzo-sama,” She scratched the back of her head guilty, an embarrassed grin on her face. “We were a little slow since we walked. This place is quite far from the Academy.”
“That’s fine,” Danzo beckoned for her to come closer to him. He got up from his chair and walked towards the large array of tinted windows while Kushina moved around the long table to get to his side. Standing next to him and copying his movements, she noted that the windows were completely black from the outside when she was walking up to the building earlier on.
“Tell me Kushina…” Danzo took a deep breath as he stared out of the window. “What do you see?”
“I… I see trees…” She blinked before looking about at the outside forest. Unfortunately, she didn’t think that there was much to look at. “A lot of trees. And dirt. The sky too.”
“Yes. Those are all things we can see… But what I want you to focus on are the trees.” Kushina did as she was instructed and observed them, “Tall, sturdy, thick, mighty and seemingly impossible to topple over… Which part do you think contributes to the fact that it can stand so straight without having to fear wind or rain pushing it over?”
Kushina hummed as she observed the tree from the sea of bright green leaves to the numerous branches that kept them high up to the huge trunks. Just which part kept it upright?
“The weight!” Then she paused as her eyes went lower, to the unseen parts of the trees hidden by the dirt, “No wait! The roots!”
Danzo smiled at her deduction, “Exactly. The roots are the reason why the tree is capable of growing to such a size, to be able to touch the sky.” He tapped his cane against the floor and looked over to Kushina, “Unseen by all, but vital and necessary. That is what the roots are to the trees. That’s what my organisation is.”
“Your… organisation?” That was definitely news to Kushina.
“Indeed. Only a small fraction of Konoha’s populace knows about Ne (Root) and what we stand for. Proudly consider yourself a part of this small group to have knowledge of the true shinobi of Konoha.”
While Kushina was pleased to hear that Danzo had admitted her into such a exclusive club, she still couldn’t understand it though. “I… I don’t quite understand. What is ‘Root’. And what do you mean ‘true shinobi’? Aren’t the Genin, Chunin and Jonin we have the ‘true shinobi’?”
Danzo took a second to think about his response. Failing to phrase his answer would definitely affect his personal relationship with Kushina, and damaging that necessary bond was not something he wanted to do.
“I’ll answer one question at a time. Root is the organisation I run, and just like the roots of trees, we support Konoha from the shadows. We are the unseen ones who support the great tree of Konoha from the depths of the earth.” Danzo turned back and returned to his seat, gesturing for Kushina to take a seat as well. “We are a branch of Konoha’s ANBU, founded by me. Have you ever heard of Konohagakure shinobi taking part in assassinations or anything of the like?”
“Er…” Now that she thought about it, she had never heard any missions regarding assassinations and the like but always figured that there was simply no need of such. “No. I can’t say I have.”
“That’s because we, Root, are the ones who carry out such tasks. At times such as these, where we have to watch our steps against rivalling villages, utmost secrecy is necessary when performing missions of such a nature.” Kushina couldn’t say that she was shocked to hear such a thing. She already knew what she was signing up for when she became a shinobi. Pain and death were part of the package of such an occupation. But if she could protect this village from destruction, unlike her old home of Uzushiogakure, then she was happy enough. “For if word ever gets out that Konoha was the cause of an assassination of some kind, wars will erupt all around us.”
What she was shocked by was the amount of trust he had in her to not spill such intelligence and information. Surely telling her all this would require some amount of confidence on Danzo-sama’s part to keep confidential. Deeply, she was proud of how much faith he had in her.
Danzo spoke over the silence, “I understand what we do is less than respectable, but please understand that it is for the good of Konoha. Any and all threats must be weeded out in order to keep the village I was born and raised in safe and secure.” He rested his hand on the small glass table that separated him from Kushina.
“Don’t worry, Danzo-sama.” Kushina placed a hand on top of his, smiling at him with a patriotic glint in her eyes. Konoha was her new home, and she was willing to protect it no matter the cost. “I understand completely.”
“I’m glad that you do.” He said pleasantly, “Well, now that I’ve explained what Root is, let me tell you what the meaning of being a ‘true’ shinobi is.” He cleared his throat and started, “The Genin, Chunin and Jonin… Yes, they’re shinobi. But do they have self-sacrifice?”
“Self-sacrifice?” Kushina parroted in confusion as she absently played with her hair, twirling strands of crimson around her fingers.
“Indeed. Self-sacrifice is a shinobi’s duty. One all must embrace to become a ‘true’ shinobi. It doesn’t really matter how strong or powerful you are, what matters is if you’re willing to bear the burden or suffer for your country. That is what it means to know self-sacrifice.” He repeated again, hammering the word into Kushina’s brain. It was the lowest form of manipulation, very basic stuff.
But it’s objective was simple. It was to just make a person focus onto the word, and for Kushina, that word was ‘Self-sacrifice’. Danzo wanted it embedded into her mind, and would make training her easier later on. He had done so to many of Root’s recruits, and so far it was effective.
“No shame in their work and never seeing the light of day, constantly toiling in the shadows… That's the way of a true shinobi, that's what epitomises a shinobi! Countless men and women have suffered and died the same way. This world could not function on ideals and pleasantries. It's thanks to people like these that peace can been maintained.” Danzo paused in his speech and inquired his student’s feelings on the matter. “You agree with me, don’t you?"
Something in Kushina’s brain triggered and she followed it up with a nod, agreeing with his message after a second. Kotoamatsukami’s effects had just taken place. Seeing Kushina’s eyes lose their light for the briefest of seconds, Danzo could easily see that.
They sat in silence for a few moments before Danzo stood up.
“That’s that, I suppose. Now, how about I give you a tour of Root?”
Kushina stood as well, but made a face of puzzlement. “Um, isn’t this it?” She gestured to the walls and ceiling, “And the floor downstairs as well.”
Danzo chuckled, laughing at the notion that Root’s HQ would be such a punitive and obvious building. Even if it was in the middle of the woods, this certainly wouldn’t do at all. “Of course not, Kushina. Root’s real base could not possibly be this small. Where would we fit all of our operatives?”
Kushina looked somewhat ashamed and looked down at the floor in an abashed fashion at asking such a silly question. But she was surprised to feel Danzo’s arm being draped over her shoulders. Looking up into his eye, she found that it was full of approval.
“Fret not of making mistakes or being foolish, Kushina. You are still young, so take advantage of it now. You will certainly appreciate it now than when you are older.” That little titbit of information caused Kushina to brighten considerably since it made her feel much better. “Come, let me show you what Root truly looks like.”
Kushina was pretty impressed when they entered a hidden room downstairs, the doorway of which was right next to the creepy receptionist.
She was further impressed at the massive (like seriously massive) compound hidden underneath the dirt floor of Konohagakure. Dug into the foundations of the earth, the Root HQ was a massive rectangle that stretched from the hidden entrance all the way down into the darkness. Hundreds of rooms and countless flights of stairs were embedded in the walls, providing pathways and access to all sides. And the whole thing was held up by four massive pillars that stretched all the way from the ceiling to the bottom. In turn, the pillars were held together by beams, each placed a short distance away from the other.
“Whoa,” Kushina gasped in awe. “This is awesome! How did you even build something like this?”
Danzo smirked as they made their way down the stairs, “It’s amazing what you can do with time on your hands dozens of hard-working talented Doton users.”
They finally reached the first floor of the hidden HQ and Danzo gestured towards a strange contraption, a small room with caged walls that seemed to be able to fit around five people, embedded into the wall.
“That is an ‘elevator’. A recent invention of Root. If you’re ever tired or in a rush to get to the bottom, this would be the fastest way up and down.”
“Cool.” Kushina gave him a toothy grin. It sure sounded like a convenient way to go up and down in such a massive place.
“Here. Let’s take it to B30.” He walked over and pressed the red button next to the elevator and the wire doors rattled open, sliding aside and behind the wall. Danzo stepped in and Kushina followed in suit, her enthusiasm at riding such a revolutionary contraption showing on her face.
“Even cooler!” The doors rattled back shut and they departed downwards to the core of the HQ at a steady pace.
They eventually came to a stop, thirty floors from where they had started.
“It would be nice if it were faster.”
“Yes. But it is still in development after all.” Danzo walked out of the elevator and Kushina could see that up ahead, there was a large walkway that split off into three different paths, forming a massive cross. The sides were fenced up and prevent anyone from falling over.
“What’s this place?”
“This is the…” The bandaged man spun around and gestured towards the different pathways, labelling them as he did, “Training areas, physical development and shared showers over there. Research and development, hospital and psychological ward over here. And lastly,” He gestured to the pathway that led off to the right, “An incomplete part of Root. We’re still unsure of what to put there.”
If Kushina hadn’t seen the shadows of the Root shinobi Danzo had talked about earlier, she definitely would’ve thought of this place as a ghost town.
Speaking of Root shinobi…
“Danzo-sama, do you think I’m qualified as a Root shinobi?”
Danzo mused the question over before responding, “Yes. Not all Root members have to be strong to join. Most of them are even inducted in when they are but children. Their strength only grows when I nurture them. Perhaps in the future, once you've become a Jonin, you too can join Root.”
She was left to ponder about his words as they headed down to the path on the left, towards the training areas.
"Jonin?! But that's such a long time away!"
"You're still young. There's plenty of time for you."
A large rounded stadium had been dug into the ground. Thick plates of steel had been bolted to the earth, reinforcing the ground and protecting it from damage. It was clear that this place had seen quite a bit of action already as some parts of it were heavily scorched while others had been beaten in and dented. But otherwise, it was still in decent condition.
“I might have already seen some of your Taijutsu moves yesterday,” Kushina couldn’t help but feel somewhat embarrassed at the reminder. Had she really gone through with going nude to practise, she might’ve accidentally given Danzo-sama quite the show. “But I’d like to see how you fair with an actual opponent.”
“Who will I be facing then?” Kushina asked.
“Me.” Danzo said simply.
“...No offence intended, Danzo-sama,” She stammered, unsure of how to deliver her message across without coming across as disrespectful, “But I don’t think it would be fair to go up against… um, a…”
“An old man with a limp?” Danzo finished her sentence off for her as he lifted up his cane up into the air, “Believe me when I say that appearances can be deceiving. So please, do not even try to hold back against me.”
Kushina gulped deeply at the warning and nodded, feeling the sudden urge to comply. Arms raised and legs spread shoulder-width apart, Kushina got into her own stance and prepared herself.
“Come at me whenever you’re ready.” Danzo banged his cane against the floor and Kushina took off immediately, leaning forwards and kicking off the floor.
She dove towards Danzo like a speeding bullet, her crimson tresses following behind her and whipping about in the wind as she increased her speed.
“Not too bad. But can be better.” Agile as a monkey, Danzo leaned out of the way of a flurry of punches thrown at him by his student. He could clearly see the surprise on the face of the young girl when she realised that not one of her hits connected. “Your punches lack a proper form, but are still speedy and strong. Very commendable.”
He gripped the top of his cane and threw it straight up into the air. Using the now freed hand, he reached for Kushina’s shirt. Balling up the front of her outfit, he spun around and yanked the girl over his shoulder, tossing her away from him.
“Whoa!” The Uzumaki cried as she tried to catch herself mid-air. Stabilising herself right before she hit the floor, Kushina landed on her feet and steadied her body.
Sweat begun to break out on her brow as she stared at her feet. She had to take a moment to regain her breath. Danzo-sama was much faster and stronger than she gave him credit for.
The cane came falling back down to the earth and Danzo casually plucked it out of the air before he tapped the end of it onto the floor. A loud clang emitted throughout the arena as wood banged against steel. Kushina observed the cane in Danzo’s hand and frowned.
Perhaps she would have to use a weapon against him. Danzo-sama did say that she shouldn’t hold back against him.
Reaching behind her back, she swiftly whipped out a kunai and lunged at Danzo again. Serpentine movements were deployed by the elderly man and the girl missed her attack. Yet, she did not falter. Instead, she spun on her heel and sent a slash at him right as she was turning…
…Only to find Danzo’s cane a centimetre away from her chest. Immediately, she stepped down to the ground and stopped all momentum, preventing herself from throwing her weight onto the end of the cane.
Danzo was impressed. Kushina was far better than most Genins churned out of the Academy. He had read her report cards too. His words that fateful day months ago must’ve spurred something in her and motivated her to do her best in everything as she consistently ranked amongst the top in her classes.
Good. A strong foundation was always helpful for him when training. He didn’t have to waste time training her in the basics.
A sigh of relief escaped Kushina’s lips after narrowly avoiding impalement and Danzo returned his attention to the battle at hand.
Unfortunately for her, even if she didn’t, Danzo could still move. He pushed his shoulder forwards slightly and the cane pressed up against her flesh. All it took on Danzo’s end was a light push and she was forcefully launched off of her feet. Caught off-guard, she was sent barrelling to the floor, losing her kunai as she fell.
“Ugh.” She eventually came to a stop after rolling a distance away before sitting upright. She would’ve jumped up soon and got back into the fight, but Danzo stopped her.
“That’s enough for today, Kushina.”
“Really?” She got up and dusted herself off. There was a glint in her eye, worry that she had not met Danzo’s expectations. “I-I can still go, y’know?” Despite it being just a short spar, her skin was already slick with sweat. Being nervous played a part in that.
“Oh, I can tell. Don’t worry. You’ve gone beyond my expectations.” Danzo nodded sagely as Kushina grinned. “But I’ve already estimated your skill and can now chart your training accordingly.”
At the prospect of training, Kushina smiled tiredly. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but she would do it regardless if it meant furthering her skills. Still, Danzo-sama had proven that he was no joke and his promise about his trainings being challenging .
“Do note that not all our lessons will involve sparring.” Kushina was thankful for that and cheered silently in her head. While she may have been able to recover her stamina and rejuvenate her body quickly, it was still mentally draining to get beaten up every single day by her sensei.
“There will be some breaks in-between to allow you to recover and I will use these breaks to teach you more on the theoretical side of being a proper kunoichi. While it is expected of a shinobi to be strong, having a sharp mind is something lacking in most Genin nowadays. And I’ve seen that from your records you’re quite smart for your age but also quite reckless. We’ll have to work on that.”
Kushina nodded with a look of understanding.
“Now… This concludes our first day as master and student.” Kushina could’ve sworn that there was a little bit more emphasis on the term ‘master’ but shrugged it off as her just imagining things. “If you’d like, before you go you may use the communal showers to the left of the corridor to get yourself clean. As you are now my student, you have full access to this entire wing of the base and may make use of any of the facilities whenever you wish.”
“Afterwards, you can head on home.” His false limp returned as he started to hobble away. “Tomorrow’s lesson will begin at seven. Just wait for me on the second floor. I will be teaching you on what it means to be a true kunoichi. Be mentally prepared for tomorrow’s lesson. I cannot guarantee that it will be easy.”
Despite what he might’ve thought, not even the ominous last words to her regarding tomorrow’s lesson could dampen her mood.
“Yes, Danzo-sama!” She bowed before he vanished down the hallway. Kushina smiled to herself before giving herself a once over. While she may have been sweaty and slightly dirty, she didn’t think that she would have to shower just yet. So she would be taking a rain check on using those showers.
Despite having been underground for quite some time, Kushina estimated the time and came to the conclusion that it was already in the last dregs of the afternoon. And while she may not have necessarily been tired, she figured that it was about time to call it a day. She still had to process all of this information.
And what better way than to do it over a few bowls of Ichiraku ramen?
Alone in his underground office, Danzo sat in his chair silently meditating. Eyes shut but senses extended, he felt a presence enter his room and frowned slightly at being disturbed.
“Yes?” He asked, before a shadow fell from the ceiling, landing in a kneeling position.
“The double agent is asking for your commands, Danzo-sama. He says that he is being pressured by the Raikage for information about the Uzumaki girl.” He paused for a moment before continuing, “He says he has not much time left before he has to submit a report to the Raikage of ‘what he has managed to gather so far’. What are you orders?”
Danzo hummed and put his analytical and keen mind to use. How could he turn this into his advantage?
It didn’t take him long before he came to a conclusion.
“Leak the information to Kumo… Give them her general information as well as the blueprints of the Senju Compound.” He muttered quietly, still deep in thought, “I’ll make sure to have her ready by the time they enact their plan.” The masked man got up from his kneeling position and bowed, vanishing in a swirl of leaves and wind as he stood with the orders in mind.
“A time constraint?” Danzo laced his fingers together and ruminated on the matter of the subject quietly. “Hm. Nothing I haven’t worked with before. This will be quite the test for her. She’ll just have to be good enough when the time comes."
End of Chapter
No smut in this chapter since I’m plotting far ahead for future chapters, but in the next one Kushina will be learning what it takes to be a true kunoichi. There will be some naughty bits coming up next (not necessarily sex).
Kushina will become strong under Danzo’s tutelage. Stronger than she ever was in canon. If she was a Jonin in canon, she’d probably be the top dog of the ANBU and Root in this one. And since Kushina isn’t going to be as well associated with Minato in this story due to her loyalties lying with Danzo, Minato won’t be as good of a seal master as he was in canon. I’ll go more into detail about this in future chapters.
