Ok.. another chapter down ! Please, let me know if you like, don't like… etc.

Anyway, starting from here, the warnings will change from chapter to chapter… I am not planning a lot of angst or horrible darkness… but, eh, I am writing about Uchihas.. there is bound to be some, right?

I am also working on a fiction swap… so, when I get annoyed with that, I will work on this and New Beginnings. :D

Ok, other than some minor violence and the attemptive stripping of Itachi.. nothing new to add..

Ibiki and Shikaku vanished. Neji and Hinata looked at Naruto. "We separate until just outside of the Leaf village," Sasuke said, getting their attention, "Then, we can explain what is going on."

Naruto led Kakashi and Hinata out. The others followed Sasuke and they left through different gates. Neji scanned the area and nodded. "No one is following us," he said, "How secret is this mission?"

Sasuke frowned. "Life and death."

The others nodded and they continued to run for the rendezvous point.

"Hang on, Itachi."

Itachi gasped as one of his attackers tried to pull his shirt off. "Get away!" he snarled, "What makes you think Sasuke won't find me, that he won't look for me?"

The man stopped and grinned. "Because, no one knows where we took you!"

"Hn… really?"

"Of course, we are Konoha nin, do you think we are stupid?"

Itachi just stared at him for a moment, then drew up one of his legs to kick the man in the groin. "Yes, I do think you are stupid, considering one of your own already told me they wanted Sasuke to look for me."

The attacker fell over, groaning. Itachi shifted and grabbed his face. The Sharingan swirled. "Take me out of here," he hissed, "Now."

"What, you aren't supposed to be able…."

Itachi stood and pressed his foot against the man's throat. "Now!"

A quick nod and the man moved to stand. Itachi stopped him and pulled two kunai off of him. "Is that all you have?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Good, lead me out."

He scrambled to unlock the cell door and rushed out of it, not looking back. Itachi shook his head and slipped out. He shut and locked the cell door and went the other direction. It was a good thing he knew the hideout well and that he was close to a village. The walls felt brittle, crumbling slightly when he touched them. "I forgot how old this place is," he said, "If anything, I just need to hide from them, until they are far enough away that I can get out."

After walking away from the main rooms, he found a small room that he could hide in. He knew Sasuke was coming, he could feel it.

The two groups met at the village within 3 hours. "How far is the Uchiha hideout from here?" Naruto asked Sasuke.

"About another 30 to 45 minutes east," Sasuke replied, "The base is pretty demolished, other than the more underground partitions, so, once you find your way in, it shouldn't be that hard."

Naruto nodded. "I have Hinata," he said, "She can help figure out where everything is."

Sasuke took a deep breath. "When did you want to head in?" he asked.

"Tonight," Kakashi said, "We can't let the council get away with it, plus, Itachi could be pretty sick down there, wouldn't do any good to let him die."

"Right," Naruto said, "We will head over there now, to scout, Sasuke stay close by, but not too close, they need to think you are on the peon mission, so, go check in."

Neji stopped. "Ok, so, what the hell is going on?"

Naruto slapped his forehead and sighed. "Forgot, sorry Neji," he said, "We are on a recovery mission, target is Uchiha Itachi, the council captured him in the Land of Waves, after the daimyo and the Hokage agreed on his being there for a bit of time."

"To get me to follow their orders, I think they captured Itachi to blackmail me," Sasuke continued, "I know he is alive, but, he is still pretty sick and I need to get him home, so Tsunade can finish the healing job."

Shikamaru sighed. "Troublesome," he muttered, "So, why did I have to come?"

"To throw them off the scent," Naruto said, "I bet they are assuming Sasuke would look by himself."

Shikamaru nodded and looked at Neji. "I can't find a fatal flaw in what he is saying," he muttered, "and that irritates me."

Neji laughed. "I bet it does," he said, "All right, let's get this over with."

Itachi could hear his captors frantically looking for him. They even brought in the female that had come in a few times, talking about his brother. He knew something had happened with her, he just couldn't place it.

Sighing, he tried to get comfortable on the hard floor. He could sense Sasuke. It was comforting and at the same time, frustrating. So close, yet still so far away. They were getting close, but, probably wouldn't come far back enough to find the door to the room he was currently hidden in. "Sasuke?"

Naruto, Hinata, Ino and Kakashi walked to the outside of the village, waiting for the other team to meet them. Sasuke had gone to check in with the contact in the village, to make this look legitimate. Hopping from one foot to the other, Naruto scanned the village gates. "What is taking so long?" he complained.

"Because we got extra orders, dobe."

"Oi, Teme, took you long enough."

"Fuck off…."

"Sasuke?"

The raven stopped and closed his eyes. Neji looked at him. "Are you all right?"

Waving his hand, Sasuke didn't answer. "Itachi, are you all right?"

"Yes, are you close by?"

"Of course, you didn't think I would leave you there, did you?"

"Of course not, I just…. it's getting hard to breath and they are looking for me, I kind of escaped, but, I can't make it out of the basement areas."

"Naruto, Kakashi, Ino and Hinata will be in there to distract them, while I look for you, just try to stay in one place, if you can."

Sasuke could feel hesitation in the bond, fear, though, that was angrily pushed away. "All right, Sasuke… there is a female here that knows you personally, I hear her now."

"Just stay there, we should be there in about an hour, all right?"

"Fine… I have to rest though; this is taking up a lot of chakra."

"Rest, we are coming."

Sasuke opened his eyes. "Itachi got away, somewhat," he said, "He is hiding in the base itself, in part of the more damaged area."

Naruto grinned. "All right, what is the mission your group is on?"

"Gathering herbs from around that area," Neji said, "Apparently, Amaratsu caused some herbs to grow differently, so, they want to research it… Sasuke and Itachi really did a number on the forest with their falsifying his death."

Naruto nodded. "So, you will be in the same basic area?" he asked, "Good, my team will leave now, wait about ten, fifteen minutes and follow."

"Right."

Naruto and his team rushed off towards the hideout. Sasuke watched them go, itching to follow. Neji took his arm and smiled. "It will be fine," he said, "Pretty sure most of the nin that are involved are no match for any of us."

With a nod, the Uchiha relaxed. "He can handle himself, I know he can," he said, "It's… he was finally starting to feel better… I hope this hasn't messed it all up."

"That is why Ino is with us," Shikamaru said, standing next to Neji.

Sasuke nodded. "I know, I know.." he muttered, "I hate feeling like this, you know?"

"I understand, Sasuke."

Naruto stared at the huge pile of rubble and frowned. He couldn't see any form of entrance. "Hinata, do you see anything?"

She looked around using her Byakugan. "I see a few, but, only two that we can use," she said, "one looks like it has been recently used, the other, not so much."

"Ok, we will take that one," Naruto said, "We can't use the door that they are watching, can we?"

Kakashi shook his head. "Naruto, what am I going to do with you suddenly using your head?"

Naruto flipped him the bird and walked over to where Hinata was pointing. Shifting some rocks, he found the door. It was a small trap door. Kakashi stepped over and looked at the door. "This is one of the hidden exits," he said, "We must be near some of the back rooms, where they could seal it up and keep the enemy out."

Ino frowned. "What if Itachi is on the other side of this complex?" she asked.

Hinata shook her head. "No, I can only see Chakra on this side," she said, "Let's go."

Naruto pulled open the trap door and peered in. "It's dark, but, I can smell someone nearby," he said, "Smells a little like Sasuke, hopefully, that is Itachi and not bits of him."

Ino smacked Naruto. "Shut up and get in there!" she yelled.

The demon vessel jumped down into the room and looked around. He could hear someone breathing, hidden in the shadows of the room. "Itachi?" Naruto said quietly.

The breathing stopped. "Itachi, Sasuke sent me," Naruto said, a little louder, "Come on, he is on his way to take you home."

Naruto was tackled from behind, a kunai held to his throat. Grunting, he twisted to grab his attacker. Reddish black eyes stared at him. "Itachi!" Kakashi said, grabbing him, "Come on, we are here to help you."

Itachi froze at the sound of Kakashi's voice. "Senpai?" he said softly.
