A/N: So, I updated the previous chapter to correct my spelling errors. I forgot to check it before posting (it was 2 am :p), I'll try not to forget that anymore, because I hate spelling errors xD. Anyway, thanks for all the reviews! I'll respond to them at the bottom of the chapter. I hope you all will like where I’m going with the story, I don't know if it's going in the direction you all think it is, but we'll see about that later.

They were sitting across each other. Both were looking deeply into each other's eyes. They felt as if the other's gaze was burning through their eyes, into their souls. And then they leaned forward, and kissed. They relived the kiss from the night before, but at the same time it was much more intense. Much more in tune with each other. They both felt a part of themselves transfer to the other and a part of the other transfer to themselves.

And then they woke up, both in their own bed, both having dreamed exactly the same. Both deciding never to tell anyone about it.

It was 9am, and they had arrived at the training grounds. The third had already been there, and Kakashi, of course, arrived half an hour late. Both Naruto and Sasuke were feeling slightly uncomfortable because of the dream they had had, but they made sure that nobody would notice. In the meantime, a few ANBU had arrived, bringing along some equipment to measure chakra levels and other complicated stuff Naruto had no idea of what it was. They had been setting up some training exercises as well, which excited Naruto. He felt like doing some training, it had been a while. The last real action they had had was the fight with Zabuza and Haku, which felt like ages ago.
"Naruto!" The third said, waking him up from his daydreaming. "I was saying that, when Kakashi finally arrives, you two will be performing some jutsu's to see if there is any difference with before the incident. If there is, we will carefully measure it all to find out what exactly has happened to you two. We will continue to do this entire day, until we have gathered sufficient data. We will start with a simple transformation jutsu, then clones, shadow clones and we will move on to the harder ones after that."
"Yo!" Kakashi said, jumping out of a tree. "It seems like I've arrived exactly at the right moment. Let's start."
"Kakashi-sensei! Why can't you just be one time for once!" Naruto shouted angrily.
"I am, aren't I?" The masked jonin replied.
"Hn." Was Sasuke's slightly annoyed response.
"Anyway, let's begin our tests." The third said.
"Finally!" An excited Naruto shouted, before transforming. "Sexy no jutsu!"
Kakashi and the Hokage had seen this coming, and had averted their eyes just in time. Sasuke however, had not. However, he remained unfazed, as though it was something he saw every day. He himself then transformed into a perfect copy of Kakashi.
"There are some small fluctuations in the reading, Hokage-sama, but nothing unexpected." An ANBU said.
"Good. Now do some clones."
A few poofing sounds were to be heard, and then there were 5 Sasukes and 5 Narutos.
"The readings are spiking. The chakra signatures of Sasuke's and Naruto's clones are almost identical, Hokage-sama."
"Interesting. I wonder... Sasuke, try to connect with one of Naruto's clones and control him. Naruto, do the same."
"How on earth am I supposed to do that?" Naruto asked, unsure if that was even possible.
"Be creative, Naruto. Find Sasuke's chakra inside of you and focus on that. Focus on the bond between you guys." Kakashi replied.
Both Naruto and Sasuke blushed slightly, thinking back at the kiss. "Ok, Naruto. Find Sasuke's chakra." He thought to himself. "Find it. Think about the connection. Focus."
He was concentrating so hard, that he didn't notice that one of his clones was slightly moving. Sasuke had pulled it off, though both the Hokage and Kakashi had expected that he would be the first.
What they didn't expect, was that suddenly, one of Sasuke's clones started talking. "Is this ok, Kakashi?"
A short silence followed, in which all tried to pick up their jaws. The third was the first to get a grip on himself, and said: "Well done, Naruto! It seems like this connections opens up a lot of possibilities for you two to work as a team. Now Naruto, since Sasuke can't use any shadow clones of his own, I need you to create one for him to try and control."
"Hah, Sasuke," Naruto joked, "I'm such an awesome shinobi you need to borrow my techniques. An intense glare was the only response he got.
He created a shadow clone, and the result was the same. After a bit of practicing, they both got a lot better at it, until they almost were able to mentally communicate with each other through a clone. They had become a bit tired of all this practicing, so they decided to take a lunch break.
"That was weird." Naruto said to Sasuke, after the others had left to analyze all their data. "But if it can turn us into an awesome, unstoppable team, I like it."
"Hn." Sasuke responded. "I don't need a team, I need to be strong on my own."
"What are you talking about? Everybody needs a team."
"No. Weak people need a team. People who want to reach a goal need to be able to reach it themselves."
"Or they could just ask their team to help them."
"Sometimes, nobody can help you." Sasuke said, ending the discussion.
"Ok, guys." Kakashi stated, as he poofed into sight. "Playtime is over. Now it is time for the grand finale. We have discussed if it is a good decision to try this so soon in our research, but the chunin-exams are coming, and we feel that this could just give you the edge you need to pass."
"Chunin-exams? Awesome!" Naruto shouted gleefully. "What is it? I'll do it without a doubt!"
"You don't need to do anything for now. First we want Sasuke to activate his sharingan, and then we'll see what happens." The Hokage, who had just arrived, said.
"Ok. Here I go." Sasuke declared. As soon as Sasuke had activated his sharingan, Naruto felt a strange tingling sensation in his eyes. Suddenly, he could see everything so much clearer. It was like there was much more to the world than he had ever noticed before. Every small movement, every little detail he could see. And then his eyes started to hurt.
"Ouch! Stop it Sasuke!" He screamed.
"What is it Naruto?" Asked a concerned Hokage.
"At first, I saw everything like I never have before, I think like I had sharingan, but now, my vision is blurry and my eyes just hurt."
"Medic! Come check out his eyes."
"It seems like he indeed used sharingan, Hokage-sama. The chakra-residue is the same as in Sasuke-kun's eyes. But... Unlike we expected, it seems like it has left a permanent aftereffect. I can't tell for sure, but it seems likely the boy is developing sharingan of his own."
"Cool!" Naruto shouted excitedly.
"Stop the process." Sasuke demanded.
"What?" Asked the third.
"Stop it. The sharingan are an Uchiha heirloom, and are not supposed to be wielded by others. One non-Uchiha sharingan-wielder is bad enough, but two is unacceptable."
"Sasuke." Kakashi said. "You and Naruto have partly become one. If he is developing sharingan, that means he is partly Uchiha now. Don't be such an ass."
"You don't get it. You never will." Said Sasuke, as he ran away. "Only a real Uchiha could know."
"Sasuke!" Naruto yelled, as he ran after the black-haired boy.
"Boys! Come back!" The Hokage ordered.
"Let them." Kakashi said. "They need to talk this out on their own."

"Sasuke! Stop and talk to me!"
The Uchiha halted and turned around, right on his doorstep. "There is nothing to talk about Naruto. I am the last Uchiha, I need to uphold the honor of my clan."
"I know how you feel, Sasuke, but..." Naruto said.
"Like hell you do!" Sasuke interrupted. "Has your brother murdered your entire family? Has your brother told you to come and find him, to kill him? Do you have an entire family to avenge?"
"No, I don't have a family. I never had, and you know it. I know you think your pain and suffering is much worse than everybody else's, but Sasuke, please, get a grip! You're being a whiny bitch, and it doesn't suit you well."
"You really don't get it, do you? The sharingan was the only thing I had left of my clan, and now you took it like it means nothing."
"I took it? I'd like to remind you that I didn't cause any of this. I never asked to be connected to you."
"Neither did I. I don’t need any of this. All I need is to become powerful, so that I can avenge my clan."
"All you say is 'I need to become powerful, I need to avenge my clan.' Have you ever even considered that you are not alone in this? That I would help you?"
"Why would you do that? What does my clan mean to you?"
"Nothing. But you do, Sasuke. You're my friend, the best friend I've ever had. Even if you think our friendship doesn't mean anything, I do. If you're going to take on your brother, I'll take on him with you."
"You would do that for me?"
"Of course. You still don't get it, do you? You may have had a family once, but I don't. To me, you, Sakura and Kakashi are the closest thing to a family I will ever have. You said nobody could help you, but I can. I will."
Naruto gave Sasuke an unexpected hug, and started to walk away.
"Even if you don't want me to, I will."

A/N: Well, I think I like how this chapter turned out. I'd like to know if you do too, so please review :D As you may have noticed, I'm planning to write some epic battles as well, so I'm introducing some new ways for the boys to fight. I've got some new jutsu's planned for them, one of them I really love :p But that one will be a while, so for now, here are some replies to your reviews:

LadyRonin: Well, there is a difference to being soul mates and being soulmated, but that will be revisited later on. (However, I think even in the manga and anime, Naruto and Sasuke are most definitely soul mates, as I can't picture them with anyone else than each other).

Madamdragon: If everything goes as I plan, this will be quite a long story, so there will be more.

moodysavage: Well, since this is a Naruto/Sasuke fic, both obviously aren't as straight as they think xD But I'm glad you like it :D
