I want to thank everyone who reviewed. I hope you enjoy this story. Unfortunately there were no questions so I don't have any to answer. Anyways; this new chapter was a joy to write. I just love writing these pairings but the lemons and sexy smut unfortunately only comes later in the story. Enjoy though... ------------------------ Blue eyes scowled harshly at the blonde haired woman before him; his scowl was met by her incredulous glare of honey coloured brown eyes that could read into the very depths of his soul. Things were happening around him so fast that he could barely keep up; especially since he had met with Itachi again and Sasuke had been assigned to look after him for the next three days. Not that Naruto minded; he liked the Uchiha brothers but something about their presence set him on edge and made him want to lose control of his entire body and now as he stared at his boss and the head of the homicide division. The current Godaime Hokage. Naruto knew he was close to losing reign on his emotions. "Impossible; I cannot grant your request." She finally said after a while of tense silence; making Naruto's heart plummet. "But..." "No! You know the rules Naruto! No family members are allowed to take part in an active investigation. I cannot allow your irrationality to influence the emotional effects of your grandfather's murder case." Naruto felt his face flush in anger; he wanted - no - needed to know what happened to his Jiji. Only Tsunade was refusing to divulge any information; not even telling him how it was Jiraiya had died. With an angry huff Naruto turned on his heel and stormed out of her office; not even sparing Kakashi a glance as he flitted through the police station. He frowned when he saw Sasuke sitting at his desk; black boots resting on his desk as those dark eyes observed his every move. It seemed that the Uchiha was feeling at home already. Naruto gave a small indulgent smile that was greeted by a smirk; chuckling to himself. That was definitely Sasuke's personality, so different to his own and yet so similar that it was almost frightening. Naruto promptly yelped when someone grabbed his arm and hauled him into an interrogation room. A sudden flash of panic settled across his heart; not knowing if he would be in trouble or not - his right hand already dipping into his kunai pouch, the touch of cool metal was a small comfort. Only before Naruto could extract one he was slammed harshly against the wall; blue eyes widening when he noticed a flash of silver and mismatched eyes. "What the hell Kakashi?!" Naruto yelled; he was having trouble reeling in his temper and Kakashi forcing his shoulders to the wall and pinning him there did not help the sudden influx of panic, anger and confusion. With some effort and a harsh push against a strong chest Naruto pushed his partner away from him; blue eyes averted so that he didn't see the pain and rejection in those mismatched eyes. He had enough to deal with as it was. "What the fuck Naruto! You disappear for a day and then just show up here like nothing happened?! You had all of us worried that you were in trouble and the sick bastard's next victim." Under normal circumstances Naruto would have felt flattered and extreme guilt at Kakashi's words but for some reason Naruto felt his anger boil over; a hiss escaped his lips as his fingers unconsciously brushed over the metal of the bracelet on his wrist. It was stinging his wrist and seemed to respond with his emotions. It brought back the question of what exactly Itachi and Sasuke was. "Naruto! I'm talking to you! What's with you? Wearing clothes that are not your own; I thought you knew better than one night stands! Especially when you are so emotionally unstable..." That was it; Naruto exploded. He could no longer keep it in. "ENOUGH!" Naruto shouted; blue eyes flashing dangerously. "Nothing happened last night except that I found someone connected to my past. I think I'm allowed to be emotionally vulnerable. Considering. I. Just. Lost. My. Grandfather." Naruto forced between his teeth. A noise of frustration spilled from his lips before he turned his back on Kakashi; his mind was too filled with images and confusing emotions and then the guilt flashed through him. This reminded him too much of the argument he had with Kashi the night before; it was too much pain to deal with at once... "Naruto..." Naruto's fingers curled around the door handle as he pushed it open. "No; not now." Naruto said softly; knowing that his partner would pick up on the pain in his voice and leave him be. That's what he needed; to be left alone to feel the emotions as they came instead of trying to stow them away and face them later when they would have been much worse in their intensity. Without looking back Naruto walked out of the interrogation room; not even blinking when Sasuke followed him silently. At least the Uchiha knew not to push him; only offering the silent support that he knew he needed. Grabbing his cell from his coat pocket and house keys Naruto headed for the door. "And where do you think you are going?" An annoyed voice asked and Naruto looked deep into honey coloured eyes. It seemed the Hokage was not going to let him go that easily. He sighed; sad blue eyes flickering in pain as he stared at the opposite wall that was covered with the pictures of the previous Hokage. There was the long haired, Shodaime - Senju Hashirama. The ever scowling Nidaime; Hashi’s brother Tobirama. The 'professor' Sarutobi Hiruzen in his late sixties and also known as the Sandiame. Lastly the picture that tore at his heart; a gentle smiling face the purest of blue eyes and wild blonde hair of the Yondaime - Namikaze Minato. Naruto's father... "I'm requesting emergency leave. Two weeks." Naruto said finally; he just couldn't deal with the sudden situation that had crashed in his lap without his consent. "And if I deny?" Th Godaime asked; her arms crossed over her large breasts as her eyebrow ticked in annoyance. "You won't Baa-chan. I know because you cannot afford to have one of your best detectives break under the pressure and have a nervous breakdown." He knew he won when she sighed exasperatedly and closed her eyes. "Fine Naruto; but look after yourself. Don't hesitate to call if you need me." ~ "Sasuke; please. Just leave me alone for a while." Naruto pleaded as he headed for the flower shop; a girl from his high school days sitting at the counter and paging through a magazine. He really liked Sasuke's presence but this was something he had to do by himself. He always did it by himself... "But Naruto; I..." Naruto gave Sasuke his best puppy dog look; even doing so much as to place a kiss on a pale cheek. Dark eyes widened before they softened considerably just as the cold mask of the Uchiha slipped in place again. "Fine." Naruto smiled in triumph before handing Sasuke his penthouse keys. "I'll be home in three hours." Naruto said finally before turning back to the large display of beautiful flowers. Fingers tickling across soft petals; there were so many choices but when blue eyes finally landed on a bunch several minutes later; Naruto knew he had found the right flowers. It was a beautiful bunch filled with purest of white roses, some interwoven blue poppies and strangely the backing flower was rosemary and white elder flowers; the most beautiful though was the bright orange marigolds. (1*)Naruto picked up the bunch carefully; the scent was subtle to his nose and calmed his heart. How long had been since he had done this? Too long; his mind supplied to him. "Oh if it isn't Naru-chan! How are you?" A chipper voice announced and Naruto forced a smile onto his features. "Good and you Ino?" "I've been doing great. This is a good choice although so sad Naruto; are you heading for the cemetery?" She asked softly and Naruto nodded. Quickly paying for the flowers and never hearing the sad goodbye that followed him out into the cold air. Naruto knew very well where the local church was and also where the desolate cemetery laid. Blue eyes glanced up at the sky; it was overcast and the clouds were dark. It seemed that Konoha was once again going to be stuck in a three day thunderstorm. A local weather phenomenon that came and went in the rainy seasons. Pulling his coat closer to his body to keep the cold wind from making him shiver; Naruto kept on walking - completely ignoring the rumbling skies above him. At this point in time he didn't give a damn about getting wet. It had been too long ago since he had visited his father and he wanted to go past there before another grave was opened for the Jiji-chan also. Naruto closed the creaking gate softly; smiling softly as he walked the twists and turns of the pathway before he deviated to the left - heading for the second grave to his far left. Naruto kneeled at the grave; fingers brushing over the engraved name softly, lovingly as he fought against the lump in his throat. The wind was a small distraction for Naruto but it didn't last long as he leaned back against his calves. "I'm sorry I haven't been visiting so often Papa but I've been so busy trying to fulfil the legacy you left behind. Do you know that I am the youngest candidate for the Hokage position? Baa-chan has already chosen me as her successor and then finally I can find out what happened to you fifteen years ago or at least try and solve it." Naruto talked softly; calm washing over him. He knew he was stupid to talk to graves but it was calming for him. His hand carefully laying the bunch of flowers on his father's grave; the colours stood out against the dull grey of the stone. A small hitched breath spilling from his lips. Making himself comfortable on the soft grass Naruto pulled his knees to his chest and curled up in a small ball. "Papa; I'm sorry but I bring bad news. Jiji-chan was killed yesterday; I couldn't protect you or him and I'm afraid that once I join you on the other side all I'll ever face would be our hatred." Naruto confessed to the silent grave; a large drop of water startling him from his light doze. How long had he been staring at his father's grave marker? Looking up Naruto cursed his ability to lose time so easily; it didn't help to move now as he was going to get soaked through anyways. His black boots were heavy on his feet as Naruto crossed his legs and leaned his chin on his propped up hands. "I'd love to know how it is on the other side Papa; do you still hear me?" Naruto frowned; fingers tracing the engraved message at the bottom of the grave stone. He couldn't remember it ever being there and yet it was familiar to his touch... ~ Of generous love to that cold heart, a weeping tear suspended in a blackened blood flame. And though you fade in a dreary home, loving hearts will tell the whispers of the wind. ~ Naruto stared at the last part; engraving the next few words in his heart. ~Just like moons and like suns and with the definite certainty of wailing tides...Just like the hopes of innocence springing youth, the night-wind rocks the sleeping flowers like the beloveds of today. Listen for I shall - we shall rise again. ~ Why had he never noticed this? Naruto blinked again and then his vision swam; the words blurring into a different language. "Nani?" Naruto asked himself softly; he had no idea why but he understood the writing but as his eyes stared at the words now they merely swarmed out of focus and seemed to disappear into the stone completely. Could he have imagined it? Shaking his head Naruto stood up; bent forward and placed a kiss at the top of the gravestone lovingly. A single tear touching the granite in a last goodbye. When Naruto finally came back to himself his hair was completely wet and it was pouring rain. Naruto shook his head to clear the long blonde bangs from his eyes before he started heading home; blue eyes catching sight of the bunch of flowers laying desolately on his father's grave. Shrugging his shoulders Naruto turned his back on the grave and closed his eyes; he loved the rain. It always stopped the people from noticing his tears and he could always cry to his hearts sorrow... 'Why so sad Naruto? We all have but crying eyes in the darkest of rains; the secret is finding dry eyes in the pouring rain to stall the crooked souls we all are.' Naruto bit back a small distressed sound; the dark clouds made it feel like night and the gentle whisper of his father's voice in his ear made Naruto stall before moving forward. He was merely imagining things. --------------------------- Sasuke was getting worried; maybe he shouldn't have left Naruto alone and yet even he couldn't deny those sad eyes anything. Naruto had merely to ask and he would throw everything away for the beautiful blonde. With a sigh; he looked at the clock it had been four hours since he had left Naruto alone and Naruto had said to give him three. Well that counted as an excuse to go looking for him. It was now dusk and even though Sasuke knew the moon was covered by clouds; it didn't stop the Hunters and Kin to come out and take what they wanted. Sasuke knew that even though his and Itachi's scent covered Naruto completely it wouldn't stop those looking for trouble from attacking the Dobe. He paid no mind to the water that soaked through his clothes and wet his hair; taking to the roofs and harnessing the speed his clan was known for. Sasuke easily followed Naruto's smell and heartbeat - the bracelet on Naruto's wrist worked both ways. Offering Naruto protection by their scent and also the ability to release his Sharingan if it was needed. Whilst it amplified their connection Naruto; both he or Itachi could find Naruto if they merely expanded their senses. He knew immediately that Naruto was five minutes away from him; he was calm and from his chakra signature Sasuke could tell that Naruto was slightly distressed by something but it wasn't anything life threatening and nor would it activate the hidden surge of Itachi's powers in the bracelet. "Naruto?" he asked when he finally came to a stop; Naruto was leaning against the wall of a building - blue eyes closed as he tried to regulate his breathing. When those blue eyes finally opened Sasuke was startled by their purple hue; even to his eyes he could see two tamoes spinning slowly. "Sasu?" Naruto's voice sounded strained and slurred; without second thought Sasuke stepped forward grabbing hold of Naruto's upper hand as he began guiding him back to the apartment. This proved it; Naruto was his Otouto. He could not deny that those purple - red eyes were the beginnings of a Sharingan. Naruto's eyes were closed again but when he calmed and opened his eyes again they were back to normal. Sasuke twined their fingers together as he merely offered support; Naruto's sadness was detectable even to him and he was absolute crap at reading emotions - that was more Itachi's field of expertise. "Sasuke? What is happening to me? I'm seeing things that are not real and I hear things that I cannot possibly hear." Sasuke blinked a bit; activating his own Sharingan as he caught the scent of the Inazuka clan. The werewolves that shared their city but not their power. Sharingan eyes shimmering in warning as a man with shaggy brown hair passed them; his fingers tightening around Naruto's hand. "Calm down Naruto; it's probably just the effects of the sudden emotional stress. Come; let's go home. I've cooked dinner and I'm sure you could use some warm tea." Sasuke said; eyes narrowing warningly as the Inazuka stopped and stared at him but didn't dare bare his fangs at him - at least he was smart enough to know not to mess with an Uchiha. "Ok." He had an answer for Naruto but he couldn't tell him yet; not until Itachi came back with the proof. It seemed that their Soft Claim Bracelet was activating Naruto's own Sharingan and with it the Ghostly Hearing and the Shadow Sight; that was why Naruto was seeing things that was never there before and hearing things that he never could before. Luckily Naruto's Sharingan had returned to its dormancy state and wasn't effecting Naruto. "Why don't you take a shower and warm up whist I finish things here." Sasuke said as he opened the door to the penthouse suite; Naruto's appearance was haggard but it did not detract from his absolute beauty. In fact it made Sasuke's heart beat faster in his chest; Naruto with rain dampened hair and bright tear glazed blue eyes was almost as beautiful as a naked Naruto in a steamy bath. He smirked at the memory; not able to keep his gaze from the clothed ass that sauntered past him and into the hallway towards the master bedroom. Chuckling to himself; he could give Naruto so much pleasure if he only asked for it. Reeling in his imagination Sasuke headed for the kitchen; heating the freshly made Ramen before turning on the kettle. Mixing special herbs that would calm Naruto; ease the pain of his heart and make him relax. Even now he could detect the tension in Naruto's body; so grabbing some specially imported Honeybush tea leaves from South Africa -that Kisame fetched earlier from the Uchiha Manor - and adding just a touch of gingerroot and lime blossoms. After brewing the sweet, citrus tea he pulled it through a strainer and added a teaspoon of brown sugar. Itachi would be proud of him; out of all the Uchiha's - Sasuke was the only one that could brew the perfect tea for any situation. Not that it was done often but even vampires had cravings for good tea every now and then. He just happened to know how to brew it properly. ~ Naruto rubbed the water from his eyes; they were stinging today - maybe he needed to go see an optometrist? He quickly shook his head in denial. He absolutely hated going to doctors; ruffling through the medicinal cabinet Naruto grabbed some parecetamol (2*) and quickly swallowed the two pills. It may have been only dusk but he still felt that strange sickness he had felt since that morning when he had woken up in the guestroom of the Uchiha Mansion. Winding the bathrobe tighter around his body Naruto closed the medical cabinet and just when he was about to turn something caught his sight in the mirror. Naruto stared for a bit; fluffy sleeve wiping away at the fog and when he blinked and opened his eyes a scream ripped from his throat and lungs. The sound of shattering glass invaded his hearing but the image he had seen in the mirror made him tremble in fear... 'Naruto...' He had heard it; but there had been so much blood. Naruto could never forget his father's face and that was definitely his father staring back at him and not him. Those blue eyes were washed in blood that dripped from a gash over his eyebrow and blood spilled from his lips; he knew it couldn't have been anything else but his father on the night he had died. Naruto was now clawing at his eyes; they were making pain explode behind his retinas and that image was burned into his mind. If he couldn't forget it he would claw them out... "Fuck Naruto!" Strong hands seized his frantically clawing fingers; pulling them away and stopping them from causing permanent damage. "Calm down; it'll pass. Close your eyes Naruto and think of a time where you were happy; your Sharingan in reacting to your distress." Nothing Sasuke said was making any sense but Naruto trusted his words so he tried desperately to find a memory where he was happy; after agonizing moments the pain finally faded and Naruto became aware of Sasuke's cool fingers resting over his eyes. "Shiro Fuinjutsu."(3*) A whisper of a breeze cooled the heated flesh at Naruto's temples as the pain completely faded; Naruto was confused as to what happened the questions on the tip of his tongue, however - refused to spring forth. "Is it better?" A deep voice asked and Naruto nodded; knowing that it was Sasuke. "If it get's this bad come to me and I'll help." Naruto was stupefied at what had just happened but when he opened his eyes all he could see was the red and black eyes of Sasuke; forming the strangest of star like patterns. He shook his head; yelping when Sasuke pulled him into his arms and against his chest. Picking him up effortlessly. "NANI?!" Naruto yelled loudly in Sasuke's ear. He was no princess to be carried around like that because of a broken mirror; wait how had the mirror broken again? Oh yes; he had seen something horrible. "Geez Usuratonkachi if you keep squirming so much I'll drop you; injured or not." Sasuke hissed warningly. He had panicked when he had heard Naruto's desperate cries and when he had skidded into the bathroom he had seen a shattered mirror and blood dripping from Naruto's hand; the Sharingan activated but not fully - it must have been painful going by the way Naruto was clawing at his eyes. Luckily he had sealed the Sharingan away the moment Naruto had calmed enough; it should keep the pain at bay whilst it developed further. Not for the first time did he wish Itachi was here; his Nii-san would know what was happening to their little brother and would able to help him better. For now Sasuke just wished the seal would hold for the next two days; two days that he was going to keep Naruto locked in the penthouse as he now knew it was too dangerous for him to go out. "You should be more careful." Sasuke said as he gathered the medical supplies; he didn't think Naruto had noticed that he was bleeding from a wound on his hand. Well the more distracted the Dobe; the easier this would be. Not stopping when Naruto hissed in pain when he cleaned the wound before binding it closed with a bandage. It was dangerous to flaunt such an alluring scent in front of a Vampire; no matter the self control he had. "Sasuke? I'm sorry." Naruto said softly; he hadn't even noticed that he was once again bleeding all over the place. A brief memory flashed in front of blue eyes before it hazed out into the distance; he couldn't remember exactly what had happened earlier in the morning but he could have sworn Sasuke had also treated his wound but the more he tried to remember the more it faded into the recesses of his mind. "It's fine Naruto; now let's get some dinner. I made a nice warm tea that you'll love and some Ramen." That was all the Uchiha had to say before Naruto leapt up and headed for the kitchen. Suddenly feeling ravenous; like he hadn't eaten since yesterday - wait that right he hadn't. It was a wonder he hadn't yet passed out; no wonder his stomach was rumbling... ~ Itachi pulled his traditional travelling cloak closer to his body; not that he was cold but he just hated travelling. It was such a nuisance but for little Naru-Chibi and Sasuke he would do anything; even face the annoying Council of Vampires who watched over the Uchiha Hall of Records. Itachi was worried that Naruto may be hurt; it was not the he didn't trust Sasuke to look after Naruto - no it was the fact that Naruto was one of them and no one knew the effects a Sharingan born into humanity may have on the wielder. As far as Itachi knew; it was never documented that a Sharingan born was successful from a union of the Light and the Dark. This would be first time it would be if he could find the proof that Naruto was their little brother. A shudder worked its way through his body; the scent drifting from the area around alerted him to the smell of Hunters. He sighed; they should have known better than to try and corner him. "Come out. I can smell you." Itachi said with annoyance; his Mangekyou Sharingan already formed and power whispering across his skin. He was glad he had made this journey on his own; he didn't want his two little brothers to see him be so cruel and merciless. The Hunters were stupid to look for him because their numbers kept diminishing every time they encountered him. It should have sent a message to them but they never listened. Black painted nails curled around the katana resting across his back; knowing that he wouldn't even need to use his Sharingan. "Uchiha Itachi; you have been found guilty of..." "I've warned you before. Hunters running down an Uchiha is impossible." Was all Itachi needed to say before blood ran rivers in the ground and seeped into the earth; not even the four of them were able to put a single scratch on him and he hadn't even began to show his powers. "Pathetic." Itachi said; finger and thumb running lengthways over the katana and gathering the blood before bringing it to his lips. The taste was not something he enjoyed but he merely shrugged; annoyed that he would have to clean his katana again of the blood that was spilled needlessly because of an age old hatred. ----------------------------------- Thanks for reading!
