Darkness to Darkness Ch. 3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a couple hours later that Naruto awoke with a pounding migraine. They came out of nowhere really and he cursed himself that he forgot about them... and the medication that helped ease the pain. He cracked his eyes open and slowly sat up, already feeling stiffness from the chair. The blonde looked around the room and noticed the glowing white stars on the wall and had to give Sasuke props for his creativity. It didn’t take long to find the small kitchen and Naruto took down a cup from one of the shelves and filled it up with water before gulping the entire contents down. Ever since he opened his eyes, the migraine had steadily increased and. He stumbled for a moment as he made his way back to the main room. Looking toward the chair, Naruto dismissed it, not really wanting to have pain in the rest of his body as well as his head, so he opted to gently and quietly slide into Sasuke's bed, staying as far away from the raven as possible, even though the only thing he wanted to do at the moment was have Sasuke's comforting arms around him. He never fell back to sleep, the pain in his head too much to ignore. A few more hours passed, and the alarm went off on Naruto's side. Sasuke groaned. "Damn it..." He rolled over and placed and arm on Naruto's shoulder, not noticing the extra body and heat. "Damn...clock..." he mumbled as he rolled over, pulling more of the blanket with him. Naruto winced as the loud noise of the alarm felt like a jack hammer in his head and reached over to pull the plug straight out of the socket before looking at Sasuke... "Moring..." "Morning Naru..." Sasuke said sleepily as he curled more into the blanket before his brain clicked and he jolted out of bed, panting. "Naruto! What are you doing!?" "Please... not so loud. And you said it was ok." Naruto buried his head in the pillow, the light from outside feeling like needles stabbing his eyeballs. "Do you have any painkillers?" "Just...aspirin...but...are you ok?" Sasuke said as he kneeled on the bed, making an indent. "What's the matter? You didn't drink so...you shouldn't have a hangover...Was the espresso too strong?” The blonde shook his head but then stopped the action since that also hurt. "Chronic migraines, I was an idiot and left my medication at home. I'll be ok." "No you won't..." Sasuke said softly as he slowly left the room and turned on the computer and looked up the medication. "Are you on an antidepressant or a beta blocker?" Naruto shook his head, how the hell would he know? He couldn't even think straight. "I don't remember. But don't worry... it's fine." He tried to stand up and realized too late what a bad idea that was and sat back down on the bed heavily. "You are staying inside all day. Give me your car keys." The blonde looked over at Sasuke. "Trust me; I'm not going anywhere but here..." He handed Sasuke his keys and lay back down, pulling the comforter over his head to block out the light. “Where are your medications kept?" "On my nightstand, next to my bed. There's only one bottle there." Naruto voice was muffled from the blanket. "You're an angel... did anyone ever tell you that?" "Only my mother..." Sasuke said softly as he moved to the other side of the bed and kissed the blanket over the blonde’s head. "Don’t let Annett know that it’s you. Just sleep." Sasuke said as he closed the door, locking it and walking gently past the doors and out of the building to start Naruto's car. Sasuke sighed. "Crap, I don't know where he lives…" Just as he was about to hit his head on the steering wheel, he spied Naruto’s GPS unit. "Well, at least he’s high tech." Fining a preprogrammed route to the blonde’s apartment, Sasuke started the car and began to drive via the GPS directions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Naruto didn't know how much time had passed but he almost cheered out loud as the front door opened again and he spotted Sasuke with the pills in hand. "I think I love you..." he said as he reached for the bottle. The pain hadn't gotten any worse, but it was steady. Getting a cup of water filled, and handing the medication to Naruto, Sasuke sat down beside the blonde. "You want help sitting up?" "I don't think I'm that far gone..." Naruto downed the pills and water and lay back down. The medication didn't take long to start working and Naruto felt the pain slowly begin to recede. Sasuke sat on the floor as he pulled out a large canvas and started to sketch in pencil. He himself wasn't sure what he was drawing...but he liked it. When inspiration hit, he usually dropped whatever he was doing because most likely, he’d forget in an instant. Once the migraine was just a headache, Naruto felt it safe to sit up again. At least he didn't feel like puking anymore. "What is it?" The blonde leaned over Sasuke's shoulder and looked at the sketch Sasuke had put to canvas. "I’m not sure..." Sasuke said slowly as he craned his head upwards to look at Naruto. "I see that you’re feeling a lot better." He tapped his pencil on the canvas and sighed. "I don't know what it is...but I'm sure it will be interesting to say the least..." Naruto vacated the bed, now feeling a bit uncomfortable being on it. He wasn't as stiff as he thought he would be from sleeping in the chair for the couple hours he was in it so he decided to sit in said chair once more. "I'm not feeling quite back to normal yet but it's a lot better... thank you for doing that for me." "Not a problem..." Sasuke said in a distracted tone as he stared at the canvas making a few little sketch lines here and there. "If you’re going to sit in that chair...don't. It will probably just make things worse." Naruto paused just before he sat down. "How about I get us breakfast then? What do you like?" "You, lie down." Sasuke ordered; his voice stern and commanding as he pointed with his non-penciled hand to the bed. "Now." Naruto gave an exasperated sigh. "Fine, but then you get breakfast because I'm hungry. My wallet's in my coat. We could consider this our second date if you like. Although it's not quite as much of a romantic setting as I'm used to." "Sure...yeah..." Sasuke continued to speak in a distracted tone. "I'll be right there..." Naruto watched Sasuke for another hour and a half. -Damn, when Sasuke gets into it, he really gets into it.- The blonde's stomach made a small noise of hunger for the fifth time in ten minutes and he sat up once more. "Ok, that's it. I can respect the fact that you're in your zone and all but for Christ’s sake, let me get some food..." Sasuke dropped the pencil and nodded. "Food is a good idea..." He looked to the blonde and grinned. "I'm starving as well. Where do you think is a good place to go?" Sasuke stood up, placing his feet a bit further than shoulder width apart and bent backwards, cracking his back loudly. Naruto stood from the bed and stretched as well. He hated being in one place for too long, unless he was writing. "I know the perfect place. Let's go." He headed toward the door and waited for Sasuke to follow before he opened it and let Sasuke close the door. Sasuke looked down at his feet and wiggled his toes through his sandals. He was wearing an old pair of jeans with a hole in one knee and a heavily panted shirt. "Is it fancy?" "Not at all. Don't worry, you look good." Naruto sent one of his winning smiles toward the raven and followed the man down the stairs. He felt a bit uncomfortable in the same clothing he had worn the night before and the lack of a shower that morning didn't make him feel any better about his clothing. But the one thing that he prided himself on was the ability to still look presentable even in his current state. Sasuke followed Naruto out of the building and to the man’s car. "So...where?" "You'll see. Trust me you'll like it." Naruto let Sasuke lead the way to his car since the raven was the one to drive it last. He unlocked the doors and opened the door for Sasuke with a knowing smirk before getting in on his own side. Yep, he was definitely feeling better. Sasuke stopped walking. "What is the matter with you? I told you, no more opening the door for me!" The raven closed the door and crossed his arms. "Stop that. Quit being a chivalrous man. That went out long ago." Naruto just shrugged. "You don't like men treating you right? You'd rather have me be an asshole? Because I can pull off asshole." His words held the sound of laughter underneath them. "Plus, I'm just doing what my mother taught me." "No...but if you want to act like an ass, I'll get the bridle and bit." Sasuke smirked and got in the car and closed the door. "Oh so you're THAT type?" Naruto rather liked Sasuke's sense of humor It was refreshing to have someone challenge him instead of him hurting someone's feelings. "Not a lot of people get me... glad you do." Sasuke clicked the seatbelt in and grinned as he waited for Naruto to enter the car. -I think I can really get to like this guy. This Naruto Uzumaki.- Smirking and looking at the mirror he cringed at his reflection. -Damn it...I didn't do my hair- After closing his own door, Naruto started the engine and pulled out of the parking spot. "You're hair looks fine, if you keep messing with it, it'll just look worse." Sasuke froze and looked over at him, making his hands go down to his lap. "Thanks. What about you though?" "What about me?" Naruto turned a corner and stopped at a red light. "You...never mind." Sasuke continued to stare at the road. The light turned green and Naruto guided the car forward. "Tell me." He turned another corner and entered the freeway. "It's...nothing." Sasuke stared outside the window, wondering why the hell he wanted to even talk about shower habits. Naruto glanced quickly over at Sasuke before exiting the freeway. "Fine." A few more minutes and he entered a parking structure, parking the car about ten stories up. "Sorry about this but I feel REALLY gross in the same clothing I wore yesterday, not to mention I haven't showered. So we're stopping at my apartment first." "Fine with me. I have a favor to ask, Naruto." Sasuke said slowly as he continued to stare. "Sure, what?" Naruto took his seatbelt off and opened his door. "Can I shower too?" He blurted out. Once his mind took hold of the worlds, he placed both hands over his mouth and a shocked expression covered his face, a slight blush forming over the bridge of his nose. Naruto laughed and shook his head before opening Sasuke's door. "Yes, you may." He gently pulled Sasuke's hands away from his mouth and leaned down to join their lips together for a brief kiss. This surprised Sasuke greatly and he froze as Naruto kissed him, eyes still open. "Are you getting out or what?" Naruto asked with humor in his eyes. He couldn't help it; he kissed those tempting lips one more time. Sasuke froze again and his breath hitched. He closed his eyes and didn’t bother fighting it. He had no objections. It was hard to stop but Naruto knew that eventually they would have to walk to his apartment. "We can continue this later... after we shower." he said after pulling away from Sasuke's sweet skin. The raven's chest heaved up and down, his breath heavy. "N...Nar....Naruto..." He said breathlessly as he tried to calm himself. "You...wow... The blonde helped Sasuke out of the car before closing the door and locking the vehicle. "Damn, if you react like this just from me kissing you... well, I don't think I have to continue that sentence." He led the raven through the parking structure until he reached the small bridge that connected the car park to the apartment complex, which was about 30 stories high. He rather liked his tenth floor apartment; it was spacious and well lit. Not to mention it had an extra bedroom... in case Sasuke wanted to spend the night. Naruto smirked at his own thought as he headed toward his front door in the brightly lit and clean hallway before pulling out his keycard and swiping it through the lock. Hearing the beep that signaled the door to be unlocked, Naruto pushed it open and stepped through, holding it open for Sasuke. Sasuke went through the door and his jaw dropped. "My god...Your apartment is gigantic.” The raven admired the wonderful architecture, plants, and landscape. "You must be pretty successful with those books of yours.” Turning his head over his shoulder, he looked to Naruto. "You’re right. I am in the wrong profession." Naruto locked the front door and turned to Sasuke. "My uncle got me this apartment. Personally, I'd love something smaller but he went through the trouble so I just took it." The blonde shrugged as he walked through the spacious living room, passed the floor to ceiling windows and down the hall. "Bathroom's this way. You can go first." "Sure...sure..." Sasuke continued to look around, marveling at the oak desk with notes, the bookshelf with hundreds of books, including the blonde’s works. "Naruto...you have some very rare books. This one..." He pointed to a leather bound book with gold lettering. "This is a first edition of Brothers Grimm." "Yet again, you have my uncle to thank for that. A present from him after I sold my first million copies." Naruto really hated talking about how much money he had and the things he had. He rarely ever bought things for himself. Mostly Jiraiya would either buy them for him out of some kind of love or random gifts would be mailed to him by fans... "Wow...just wow..." Sasuke said as he pulled his eyes from the bookshelf. "Where did you say the bathroom is?" "Second door to your right. My bedroom is right next to it so you can get me when you're done." The blonde made his way into said room to pick out something new to wear for after he got out of the shower. It would feel good to get out of his uncomfortable suit that he wore for Sasuke's art show. "Naruto...?" Sasuke said as he poked his head from the bathroom door that lead to the bedroom. "You only...have one towel.” Naruto turned to face Sasuke, his white shirt unbuttoned and chest exposed to the room. "Don't worry about it; I have more in the closet." At that moment, Sasuke's mouth went dry and he was unable to form words. "Na....Nar...you..." He could feel himself get hot just from looking at Naruto. Something was defiantly connecting him to Naruto. Something deep and powerful. Naruto looked down at himself then back at Sasuke. "Oh, don't tell me you've never seen a guy's chest before..." "Not...like...that..." He gulped and stared at Naruto's chest, eyes unable to move anywhere else. Naruto made a point of Sasuke seeing his hand raise to the edges of the shirt. "I could take the rest of it off..." he said with a raised eyebrow. What? Sasuke was teasing him the night before! It was his turn... Sasuke gulped again, hands twisting on the hem of his shirt. He wanted to jump Naruto - he wanted to rape Naruto....He wanted Naruto to himself! The blonde let the shirt slip off one tan shoulder, revealing part of the muscular bicep along with it. "I can stop anytime you know... But you're not telling me too so I think I'll just...." he let the rest of the shirt fall off of his body and crumple to the ground. He looked at Sasuke challengingly. The raven was almost drooling, salivating heavily. "Damn it...." he muttered as he took a small step forward. "You...are a tease!" "Takes one to know one... Now, about that shower. I think I said you could go first. So...?" With that, Naruto turned his back to Sasuke, opening a drawer to find a new shirt to wear. Heaving a sigh of relief, Sasuke closed the door, panting heavily as he wiped his brow. "I need to take a shower...to...uh..." Glancing down, he groaned. "So much for calming myself..." Naruto couldn't help but congratulate himself on teasing Sasuke into a stupor. He never did that with anyone else, usually they were the ones coming on to him and frankly he hated that. He'd rather be the pursuer... After picking out his clothes, he headed to the kitchen to make some coffee. he could really use some about now and he needed a bit of time to... calm down. Sasuke turned the shower water to cold and stepped in. His ‘problem’ taken care of by the cold water, he leaned on the tile as he shifted to warm water. Ten minutes later, he turned off the water and grabbed the towel, wrapping it around his middle. Naruto was just pouring some almond milk into his coffee when he heard the bathroom door open. "I'm in the kitchen!" he half yelled so Sasuke could hear him. "I made coffee if you want some." "Thanks...." Sasuke said as he slipped his shirt back on and walked to the kitchen the towel around his neck, catching the stray droplets of water from his hair. Naruto took a sip of his coffee and handed Sasuke an empty mug. "Help yourself to whatever you want. I won't be more than ten minutes." With that, Naruto quickly kissed Sasuke and headed for the bathroom. Sasuke blushed again as he poured the coffee. -I ...can’t get used to having a guy like Naruto doing things like that.- Fifteen minutes later, Naruto emerged from the bathroom, dressed in nicely fitting jeans and a casual navy blue button down long sleeve shirt and VANS on his feet. He liked skate shoes, very comfortable. "So, ready to go? Or if you'd like, I can always make you lunch. I don't want to brag... well maybe a little... but I can cook, and well." Sasuke was on the couch, reading the first book of Naruto's works. "Hmm? Yeah, lunch. Sounds...good..." He mumbled as he sipped his second cup of coffee. "You do cook well. Your coffee is heavenly. What do you use?" Naruto sat next to Sasuke on the couch, one knee bent so his leg rested on the cushion. "Well for one, making coffee isn't cooking and two; it's a blend I mixed myself. Dark French roast and a hazelnut blend. Plus, the almond milk gives it a unique flavor." Sasuke nodded and closed the book. "Come here." Naruto raised an eyebrow but scooted closer to the raven. Placing the book next to his mug of coffee, Sasuke lightly tugged on Naruto's shirt and captured his lips quickly. Naruto had no idea where the sudden urge from Sasuke came from but he wasn't about to complain. He let Sasuke have control since he was the one who initiated it. He wanted to see how far it took them. It was after all, up to Sasuke how far they went. Sasuke broke the kiss and then licked his lips. "Mmm....your taste of coffee..." Naruto couldn't help but let a sigh of contentment escape his lips. It felt so good to have someone in his home... to share it with in a sense. Even if Sasuke didn't live with him and they had just met, Naruto had a feeling that all that he, and Sasuke, wanted would eventually happen. "You don't taste bad yourself... Now what can I make for you?" "I was hoping for something simple...." Sasuke said after a minute of thought. To be honest, Sasuke didn't eat much nor often. When he got into a piece of art, he would be holed up in his room for days at a time, not eating and taking cat naps on the cold ground. What he really wanted though, was Naruto, naked on a silver platter. Naruto just nodded and kissed Sasuke once more before standing and heading into the kitchen. "How does a sandwich sound then? Simple enough." Sasuke muttered a weak yes before he shook his head to answer properly. "Sure, that sounds fantastic." Naruto looked toward the other briefly at his over enthusiastic response. "If you'd rather have something else..." Sasuke stood up and stared at the wall for a minute, letting his mind wander and the images it produced. Shaking his head to try to clear his thoughts, he spoke softly, "A sandwich is fine..." Naruto stopped what he was doing and looked toward the living room and saw Sasuke staring at nothing in particular. "Something wrong?" "No! No..." Sasuke said as he blinked a few times and turned his head to the blond, walking to him. "What's on the menu?” Naruto raised an eyebrow. The raven had definitely been spacing off. "Sandwiches... remember?" "Yeah...I know..." He rested his crossed arms on the table and leaned in. "What's on the sandwiches is what I’m asking, dobe." It was like they had been a couple for years... What the hell? "Whatever you want... teme." The last word was muttered but he knew Sasuke could hear it. "Are you always this cranky around lunchtime?" Sasuke quirked an eyebrow up and smirked. "No. You just never saw my bad side." "And why am I just now seeing this 'bad side'?" Naruto smirked and walked over to the raven, wrapping his arms around the other's waist. "Because..." Sasuke was cut off as a loud rumbling was heard. Looking down, seeing Naruto's hands over his stomach he weakly smiled as he softly said, "I'm hungry...?" "Good enough..." Naruto kissed Sasuke's cheek quickly before letting go and made his way back to the counter. "How does chicken sound? I have any kind of veggie you want so just name it. I'm like a personal subway." "Make me a Naruto special then." Sasuke said as he pulled his chair out and sat in it. "I'll eat anything once." Naruto's eyebrow twitched at that statement. "I wish..." he muttered as he took out the ingredients to make the sandwiches. Sasuke looked around the place and smiled. "You want any help...?" He slowly said. "I feel bad not doing anything while you’re doing all the work." "Nope, I've got it." He really didn't want Sasuke to help him, he had a boner the size of... well he didn't know what but he really didn't want Sasuke to see it. Best thing to do is stay behind the counter until he was done. “You...sure?" Sasuke scooted the chair back standing up partially. Naruto stilled all actions and looked at Sasuke. "You're my guest here... it's not fair that I'd ask you to help. Just sit your cute ass down and I'll take care of it." He then started his task once more, speeding up a bit. "You...are the boss..." The raven pulled the chair back under him and watched Naruto make the food. "I understand that you are gay and all...but didn't you ever wonder what would happen if you tried dating a girl...?" Sasuke bit his tongue and stopped talking. He didn't want to talk to Naruto about his exes. Naruto felt his erection subside at the thought of his exes and he felt it safe to step out from behind the counter, sandwiches on plates. "I have actually... been with two girls. Not at once mind you, but I have had female lovers." He set the plate down in front of Sasuke and then set his own down. Sasuke nodded and bit the sandwich. "Were you...still trying to discover who you were...? I don’t mean to be rude...but I want to know these things about you.” Naruto waved it off. "Don’t worry, that's what I want to do too... And yeah, I knew I was attracted to guys but I guess I just wanted people to see me as 'normal' so I dated girls, hated every second of it though. But now I know that a person is normal regardless of who they're attracted too, so it doesn't bother me." Naruto took a bite of his sandwich. "What about you? I know you said you've never been in a relationship before but what about dating? Did you ever date...?" Finishing a bite, Sasuke swallowed and looked around. "To be honest....No. Never had the chance. After the ...um...family thing...I just worked to try to take my mind off things." "How old were you... you know... when it happened?" Naruto put down his sandwich. "You don’t have to tell me." "About....six. I think." He said as moved the sandwich on his plate not feeling hungry so much anymore. "It was a tough time for me. I still don't know why I turned gay...I did have a small crush on a girl..." "You know, in my opinion. People don't really 'turn gay'. I think they always are but just don't realize it until they find someone they truly want to be with." Naruto scooted a bit closer to Sasuke. "Who took care of you? I mean... someone had to, you were only six..." "I was in foster care...bounced around from place to place until I was eighteen." he muttered. "Once I had some money saved...I rented that apartment and well...college.” "Shit..." That's all the blonde could really say. He wasn't too eloquent when it came to speaking, even he could admit that but what was he supposed to say to something like that? 'I guess I'm lucky, I have my uncle.'? Yeah, that didn't sound very sympathetic at all. Sasuke nodded. "It's alright. No one really knows what to say when I tell them the truth. Oh well..." He took the sandwich and shoved the plate to Naruto. "Thanks for the meal..." Naruto looked at the half eaten sandwich. "I'm not too hungry anymore either." Naruto figured that with everything, he may as well tell Sasuke now... "Let's go sit on the couch... I want to tell you about my past." TBC Hope you enjoyed!!!! Sorry for the constant SasuNaru togetherness thing but I’m trying to develop their characters in these first few chapters and since they fell for each other pretty quickly, their relationship is also getting defined a lot in the beginning as well. So bear with me and I promise there will be plot soon! Thanks for reading and please leave me feedback!!!
