Disclaimer: Naruto, and all other characters in this fiction do not belong to me, they belong to Masashi Kishimoto. I write this for giggles and I don't make money from it. |
A/N:- So just putting this out there; I'm not making this anything like the exorcist or whatever, priest-wise. I'm not religious in any way, and I suppose if I thought demons did exist, this wouldn't be far off my own opinion to how things would work. On another note, I have around 10 chapters of this already written up, ready to be posted, I'm just trying to range the posting rate a bit, rather than shoving it all on at once. The more replies, the faster it'll be. Thanks for the reviews! That particular one with a bucket-load of questions had me giggling like mad. Only the second chapter and you guys want to know everything. >.> Still in need of a beta. Time apparently dragged when you had nothing better to do than watch the scenery pass by through eyes a demon was controlling. “Why did you do it..?” Sasuke sighed, realising if he wanted to pass the time, he could always annoy the snake possessing him. “Do what, Sasuke-kun?” Orochimaru crooned, already knowing exactly what the man was asking. “You know what..” “Have you seen Hell, Uchiha?” A slender eyebrow rose, “It's not the most pleasant place, even for us. Not to mention it was just so easy!” “You haven't won yet, not even close.” “Come now, Sasuke.. Are YOU going to save them? You're stuck until the day I die.” “Don't be so sure..” The dark haired hunter argued, pushing idly at the walls separating his mind from his own movement; he'd never stopped trying to take back control since the moment he realised he was possessed. Orochimaru chuckled, “Ohh, but I'm certain Sasuke-kun.. The only way you'll ever be free again is if I'M sent back to hell without harming you. I'm not going back Sasuke Uchiha. There's no book on earth that can send a demon back.” Sasuke snorted in amusement, he'd heard the rumours; A rebel demon breaking free from hell, and bringing with him the only thing that could save humanity. But he'd play along, “And why wouldn't any book on earth do that? The bible..? There's been exorcism's going on for years, it's always worked.” A manic chuckle erupted from Orochimaru's-- no, Sasuke's, damnit.-- throat, and Sasuke shivered, “What? You think we just let priests strap us down, and see which words effected us? Sent us back? There is no such thing as god, or angels if you ask me, if there was, those books of yours might have worked in the past.. But anyway, we've never given any human a chance to learn what can send us back to the pit. There's only one book. One. Forged and written by the king of demons, and that remains safe in the pit.” “Why would the king of demons write such a book?” Sasuke asked, eyebrow raising at the ridiculous idea. Orochimaru sneered, “The Demon King.. We don't know why, only that he did. Some say he made it for the humans.” He chuckled cynically at that and Sasuke smirked. “And you KNOW the book is still in hell..?” The question was innocent, but it stopped the demon in his tracks. “Of course it is.. Kyuubi would never be so stupid as to willingly give the humans the only thing that could save them from us, those were just rumours.” “Hn.. defensive all of a sudden, you sure about that?” “Be silent! That's enough from you. If Kyuubi wanted us to lose, he never would have found a way to set us free in the first place!” Orochimaru hissed, Sasuke just shrugged, it would probably be the most he'd get out of the elite-demon, it was already more than he expected. They finally came to a stop outside of a small diner, the name sign was unreadable, but Orochimaru didn't seem to care as he pushed open the door and stepped inside. Sasuke was surprised to see two people- no, not people -demons huddled around the counter, whispering to each other. Sensing Orochimaru's presence, they both turned quickly, ready to attack. One of the demons had long hair tied up into a bun at the back of his head and he held three long needles in-between each finger of his hands, his weapons. The other male was bigger and heavier-built, a long, thick sword clutched in his hands and bandages hung loosely around his neck. “Orochimaru..” The bigger man growled, clearly displeased by their new visitor. Sasuke was surprised, the pair seemed almost angry at Orochimaru, but for what reason? He'd assumed all demons got along nicely, all wanting the same thing, but he supposed it was a foolish thought; millions of years stuck in one place that apparently was so bad that even the demons who resided there couldn't stand it, things would definitely get a bit heated. “Zabuza, Haku, brawlers of the underworld, how lovely to see you both here..” Orochimaru chuckled, “Different faces than I remember, not as... flawed...” “Experimenting new forms of torture too boring for you down in the pit, Orochimaru?” the smallest of the two chimed in, “Wanted to try it up here, too?” “Yes, well. Enough with the friendly reunion. Two humans were here last night, do you have any idea what they might have been looking for..?” The snake asked, though he wasn't looking at the pair, instead opting for taking in the scenery; bodies where piled to one corner of the diner, some were lesser-demons and the other's, human. “Why should we tell you..?” The same man argued, stepping forward. The bigger male looked between the two demons before quickly positioning himself in front of the other, protectively, 'Are they perhaps good friends, maybe lovers?' Sasuke thought, watching the exchange intensely, what else could he really do, but watch? “No need to get defensive Zabuza, I didn't come here to fight.” Orochimaru sneered at the bandaged man, his hands raised as if in surrender. “Like they'll believe that..” Sasuke rolled his eyes, but his comment went ignored. “Why so interested, Orochimaru? They're humans. They were probably looking for more survivors in Konoha. We don't know.” “Is that right..” The snake drawled, onyx eyes that weren't his looking off to the side before his hand unexpectedly rose, palm forward. Haku fell to his knees behind Zabuza, one hand clutching at the bigger males pant leg while the other clawed at his own head. A loud, agonised scream tore from his throat, “Still your answer?” “He said we don't know, stop this.” Zabuza growled lowly, but his eyes remained on the screaming male. “You know, after being in the pit for so long, I think it's about time I released some of my.. frustration.” Orochimaru hissed, his fingers curling, as if tightening their hold on something. Another broken scream and Zabuza had pulled his sword up, throwing it with a strength Sasuke was sure only a demon could possess toward the snake. Orochimaru dodged easily, but the sword had done it's job, Haku was no longer in pain, and he gasped for air, a quiet sob escaping his lips. Without wasting any time, Zabuza gathered Haku in his arms and disappeared, Sasuke vaguely noted the giant sword was nowhere to be seen, either. “Waste of time..” “That was.. Interesting.” he was once again ignored, not surprised in the least when the walls were brought up and he was unable to talk at all. ------ The streets were empty but for three males sitting quietly in their parked truck. They'd been sat there for near enough 2 hours, waiting for the first signs of the next attack. It'd taken only an hour before Kakashi and Shikamaru had determined the time, and where the attack would be. Now all they had to do was wait. “Are you sure this is where it'll be..?” Naruto muttered, blue eyes trained on the house across the street. The lights were off, the people who lived there sleeping soundly in their beds. Kakashi shifted in the passenger seat, sighing loudly, “For the last time, Naruto, yes. This is where it's going to be.” Naruto just shrugged and ripped open his third cereal bar that night, munching quietly on the sugary treat. “Just making sure..” “You've asked the same question 5 times in the past 10 minu--” A scream interrupted Kakashi's argument, and the three men sat straight, alert. “Time to go.” Naruto spoke, suddenly serious as he pocketed the rest of his cereal bar and jumped out of the truck. Shikamaru dug around in the bag by his side, soon joined by Kakashi who pulled out a customised Desert Eagle, and a Glock 17, along with four clips, all packed with silver bullets. Naruto tapped Kakashi urgently on the back to hurry him up, and Kakashi sighed, turning and handing the Desert Eagle to the blond. “My baby..” Naruto sighed, running tanned fingers over the shining silver plate of the gun. Shikamaru hopped out of the truck, and Naruto locked the doors, pushing the DE into the back of his pants before making his way up the narrow path leading to the cozy home. The hunters sprang easily over the wall and neared the door, the blond listening closely for any sounds within the house. Kakashi quickly pulled out a small pouch from his pocket, taking a small L-shaped tool and something that looked like a nail file with a pointy, shaped end. He knelt quietly on the floor before the door, fingers working quickly as he pushed the two objects into the lock, Naruto watching anxiously, listening for the give-away click. Shikamaru shifted uncomfortably on his feet, knowing the longer they took the more likely whatever had attacked these people would get away. The door clicked open, and Naruto wasted no time grabbing the handle and quietly pushing it open, stepping inside, Kakashi putting the lock-picking kit away. The house was dark, and at first nothing seemed out-of place. The group split up, Naruto slowly and quietly making his way into the kitchen, his hand always on his gun. Here things weren't so perfect. The dining table was upturned, split in the middle, blood and what looked to be teeth marks dotting the once smooth surface of the dark wood. The fridge was left open, the electric light inside being the only light source in the dark room. Naruto spotted a milk carton dropped on the floor, it's contents still pouring slowly onto the floor, the white mixing with the red pool on blood leading down behind the table. A loud crunch had Naruto pulling his gun out, holding it steadily ahead of him as he stepped around shattered pottery. The sounds continued, like a dog chewing a bone, and Naruto wasn't sure if the comparison would be far off the mark, he didn't have much time to ponder the thought when he stepped on a broken piece of glass, his boot protecting his foot but crushing the easily-broken object beneath it, loudly. Blue eyes closed, eyebrows scrunched together and he sighed slowly before looking at the table. The noise had stopped, he knew that wasn't a good sign. The table flew backward in seconds, Naruto only barely managing to jump out of the way before the creature was on him, snarling heavily down his neck as it pounced on him, it's weight sending him to the floor. The hunter grunted in pain as sharp glass and broken plates dug into his clothed back, but payed it little mind as he concentrated on trying to get the big mass of fur off of him. Kakashi owed him 50. The werewolf was big, as was usual, it's bright yellow eyes surrounded by dark brown fur. Its body looked like that of a man, but covered from head to toe in fur, and much bulkier. Its hind legs were that of a dogs, whereas its frong legs, or maybe arms, looked almost human. It walked and ran on all fours, powerful in strength and very fast. The werewolf growled at Naruto, the blond pushing harshly at it's chest, his muscles bulging under the strain. Where the fuck was Kakashi and Shikamaru?! With that thought, Naruto balled up his fist and smashed it into the side of the wolf's head. The creature fell off of him with a yelp, and the hunter rolled to his feet as soon as he was able, yanking his gun out and moving to aim. His movement was cut short when sharp teeth pierced the skin of his arm, the werewolf's teeth latching onto his arm. Naruto yelled, pain shooting up his right arm, causing him to drop his favourite gun. Distantly he heard a loud clatter upstairs, and he instantly assumed there might have been more than one wolf at the scene. He brought his leg up fast, driving his knee into the wolfs chest and ripping his arm free before making a dive for the gun. Three seconds was all it took. One; Naruto grabbed the gun, tanned fingers clutching the metal, finding their place. Two; He turned quickly, aiming the gun easily as his blue eyes caught sight of the reeling werewolf. Three; His finger squeezed the trigger, his free hand bracing his arm for the kickback. The shot was loud, the sound ringing through Naruto's ears as he watched the half man, half wolf drop the the floor, silver bullet lodged deep into it's skull. The fur slowly retracted inside the body, joints cracking as they changed shape; It was always how it ended, as soon as the lift was gone, they'd revert back to who they were before the change. The naked man was a stranger to Naruto, and the blond sighed slowly, eyes closing as he lowered the gun. He hated hunting werewolves, whoever had taken the change never had a clue what they were doing the morning after, in a few cases the victim would be still barely alive, but could never be saved, the look in their eyes as they stared accusingly at their killer would haunt Naruto for days. “Naruto..” Shikamaru broke the blond from his daze, and he turned to look at the brunette quizzically. The hunter was staring at the blond's arm, the cloth torn and shredded, blood dripping from the wound Naruto barely noticed. A bite mark from a werewolf would change a human. “It's fine.” Naruto bit out, shoving his DE into it's usual place before stalking out the door, still unable to get over his past encounters. Kakashi watched him leave from the doorway, grey eyes then moving to Shikamaru before he gave a reassuring smile then turned to follow the blond. “Troublesome..” Shikamaru drawled, shaking his head. Once in the truck, Naruto started the engine, music blasting loudly from the speakers as he waited for the other two to join him. His blue eyes scrutinised the bite, nose crinkling slightly in distaste before he leaned over the seat to stick his gun in the glove department. Kakashi entered the car quickly, dropping his gun onto the back seat before propping his feet up onto the dashboard. As soon as Shikamaru closed the door behind him, Naruto drove for home, blue eyes never leaving the road ahead of him. “What a day..” Kakashi smiled, silver head resting back against the headrest. Naruto snorted loudly, and Shikamaru just sighed, shaking his head. “Oi!” Naruto blurted, one hand moving from the wheel to lay flat in front of Kakashi, palm up, “you owe me 50 ryō, pay up.” -------------------------- A/N: Alright I'm probably no good at describing people and.. creatures, but it wasn't THAT bad, was it? >>' Ah well. Hope you enjoyed! I wasn't very happy with this chapter, but. Not everyone has their good days. Till next time!
