~`~ Naruto groaned as his body came to life once again when the sun had set. He groggily sat up and stared listlessly at the ruined room in front. It was then he realized that this wasn’t his room. He began to panic until he felt something pull him back down. The blond closed his eyes; he didn’t want to face whatever monster had him in its grasp. "Calm down moron. It’s only me." The voice was familiar. So the blond turned around and came to face to face with the pale skinned bastard. "Sasuke what happened last night? Where am I?" The blond whispered. He struggled out of Sasuke’s embrace and sat up, it was then he noticed the state of the room he was in. It was as if a bull had seen a red room and took its anger out on everything. The furniture had been splintered into many chunks and it seemed that there were broken items riddling the floor. But blood seemed to be the paint of choice of whatever had done the damage to this room. It was splattered everywhere it seemed. Then a feeling he couldn’t shake made itself known. "Um Sasuke, what happened last night?" Naruto asked as he turned around to look at the other vampire. Sasuke didn’t say anything but stared at the blond for several moments. It felt like an eternity to the blond and that was when he realized, he would know what that expression meant. He could measure it now and he wasn’t sure if he wanted to experience it. "Moron what the hell-"Sasuke was cut off as the blond tackled the older vampire. Sasuke couldn’t say anything as he felt the body against his begin to shake. And then the sobs soon followed. The Uchiha didn’t know what to do. He’d not had a newborn for centuries and he was no good at comforting people. "Naruto, are you sure you want the truth?" Sasuke asked quietly. "Yes, I have to know. Please Sasuke." The voice was broken and it seemed that the blond had none of the spark he held yesterday. "You let the bloodlust get the better of you yesterday, you killed people and I suppose that it’s my fault for dragging you out in public when you were only a day old. It doesn’t take much to set a newborn into a rage." Sasuke explained, his voice the only thing filling the otherwise silent room. Naruto didn’t say anything and began to sob harder. It was evident that he had killed last night and that he was more than likely responsible for the state of the room. He couldn’t bring himself to terms with that. He had never wanted to hurt anyone. It wasn’t in his nature, but it seemed that his nature had changed when he was turned. Sasuke just sat there and let the blond cry it out. It seemed like it was the only option he had at this point. He knew the blond was emotionally distraught, but there was nothing he could do about that. It seemed as though Naruto resented what he was when so many others had embraced the change into something that was extraordinary. He was curious as to why the blond would feel that way. He was above death, hunger, thirst, and humanity. He should be proud that he was chosen to become vampire. When the body stopped shaking, Sasuke hoped that Naruto was done crying. He was intrigued by the moron now and he would help him grow into a strong vampire. He would help him come to terms with what he was since his asshole brother couldn’t do it. "I’m sorry to cry all over you like this." Naruto whispered as he pulled away. The blond stared at Sasuke’s bare chest. There was blood from him where he had hugged the other vampire. He brought his hand up to his eyes and felt the area beneath his eye. Naruto could only stare as his finger came away bloody. "We cry blood since we can no longer produce tears so we try damn hard not to cry. It’s just a way of loosing what keeps us going. You have to be stronger Naruto. I can’t imagine what it’s like to never see the friends you made in your previous life, but you have to be strong." And then it seemed like the past two days caught up to Naruto. He had treated the whole thing as a joke. He thought that he would be able to see his friends and keep his bonds for at least little while longer. He wanted to say goodbye properly. But it seemed like the chance was ripped out of his hands. He didn’t want to leave everyone behind, especially his foster father Iruka Umino. The man had done so much for him and now he had to bury his son. "But what about my father? Surely you can’t expect me to let him go through burying his only son?" Naruto asked, sorrow lacing his tone. "You have to let him do it. I cannot allow you any further contact with mortals until we can make sure you won’t go into a bloodlust. I will not have a repeat of last night." Naruto’s face instantly fell. "Tell me who I killed Sasuke." Sasuke sighed; he wondered if it was a good idea to let the blond know. "I’m pretty sure it was a stranger. I was on the phone with Itachi when I noticed the crowd screaming. You detached a man’s head from his body. I was careless in not watching over you and I failed you. Naruto, you are not to blame, I am." "The hell you are! Even if I can’t recall what I did, I’m the one who killed that man. You didn’t guide my hands! I did. If I had been stronger, I could have done something! But I was weak. Damn it, I was weak." "Naruto-"Sasuke was cut off by the ringing of his house phone. Only three people in the entire world had that number and the Uchiha really didn’t feel like dealing with them, but there was nothing to be done. He had to answer it. "Why don’t you take a shower while I answer that?" Naruto only nodded his response and followed Sasuke off the floor and into the bathroom. The other vampire showed him where everything was before he took off to answer the phone. The blond gaped at the huge bathtub in front of him. It was at least the size of his whole bathroom in his old apartment. He decided that he would take advantage of such a nice tub and take a long soak. He knew it would help very little in relieving his stress, but it would be worth it if it took away only a little of his pain. ~`~ "Sasuke Uchiha." The vampire answered the phone. He didn’t see any use of more words than those. "Sasuke, it’s been a long time." The voice greeted. "Yes it has Elder Orochimaru, What is the nature of this call?" The Uchiha asked even though he knew the answer. "You made a newborn without our express permission and not only that, you allowed him to kill a mortal in a very public place. I’m guessing you haven’t checked the news. That stunt the newborn pulled has almost exposed us. If it weren’t for the various people we have in place for this kind of disaster. You have to bring him before the council." There seemed to be no room for argument, that much was clear. "Of course Elder, What is the date?" "Three nights from now at your family estate two hours after the sun has set. Make sure you bring the newborn." And the phone line went dead. Sasuke hung the phone and stared at it for the longest time. It would take three days to get to his family home. He sighed as he began to dial an all too familiar number. He quickly booked a flight for him and Naruto. The next thing he had to take care was clothes for the newborn. The young vampire had no money and no possessions. They couldn’t go back to the blonds’ apartment. His friends would more than likely stake the place since the blond went missing. Sasuke sighed and made his way up to the bathroom. He didn’t hear the shower running and took it as Naruto being done. He would welcome the warmth that water brought him. He opened the door and could only stare at the sight of Naruto resting against the edge of the giant tub with his eyes closed. The blond almost looked serene. The older vampire shed the boxers he was wearing and slipped quietly into the water. The water was wonderfully hot and he reveled in the feel of it. The only thing he hated about being a vampire was the cold body he had. And it seemed that only water could warm the cursed body he had. "I didn’t hear you come in." Naruto said as blue eyes opened. "I’ve had centuries to master the art of stealth. It’s something you will come to do quite easily as you exist through the centuries." Sasuke explained. "I notice you never use the word live. Is that like a taboo?" Naruto asked curiously. "It’s not taboo. We don’t use that word because we are not alive. We simply are. Our hearts do not beat, we do not need breath, and the only substance we need to exist is blood. So we are not alive in that sense. We are in fact quite dead." "Oh. So I guess there are more rules I need to know?" "Yes. We have a meeting with the Elders in three nights. They are not pleased with last night’s events. You will respect them and answer every question truthfully. They will know when you lie. We will be going shopping tonight, but first you will feed. I will bring you someone to feed on. No arguing! We cannot substitute animal blood! It would slowly bring you the true death." Sasuke hissed the last sentence. He could not believe that the blond would even think of such a thing. "How did you know that I was gonna suggest that?" "It was written on your face moron." "Oh. Well, at least I’m not an old bastard!" The blond said with a chuckle. "It’s nice to see that spark back moron. To make sure that you don’t go into another bloodlust you will feed every night and you will listen to me. Let’s just hope that the council doesn’t execute you." Naruto gaped at Sasuke, "what do you mean execute?" ~`~ "Stop fidgeting moron!" Sasuke growled for at least the tenth time in the past twenty minutes. They had driven the four hours into the next town to get Naruto some suitable clothes and the blond was not comfortable with the other vampire's style. Sasuke wanted to make sure that they wouldn't run into anyone that the blond knew by driving those four hours. So far it seemed that no one that Naruto knew crossed their path. "But I don’t like this suit bastard!" Naruto spat back. "You have to wear it. You have to appear civilized to them! And this suit will help than those rags that you call clothes!" Sasuke hissed in response. "Fine, but as soon as we’re done it’s coming off!" The blond crossed his arms. "That is acceptable when we’re out of the sight of the Elders. You can wait that long." "Fine! I don’t care. The less time I have to wear this thing the better." Naruto groused. "Naruto? What are you doing here?" The blond turned around at the sound of that voice. He couldn’t make any noise, it seemed as though someone had severed his vocal chords. "Who are you?" Sasuke asked bluntly as he crossed his arms. "I’m his father, Iruka Umino. And just who are you? I don’t know you." The man had demanded respect right there on the spot and didn’t seem afraid of Sasuke. "I’m a new friend. I’ve invited Naruto to a dinner party. We’re getting ready to leave tomorrow." Sasuke offered his hand and shook the other’s hand, making sure his grip was strong. "Why haven’t you called Naruto?" Iruka’s anger was geared toward the blond. "I’ve been really busy Dad! I’m sorry. I haven’t been to the apartment in days! My cell is dead!" Naruto countered. "And you couldn’t use Sasuke’s phone?" Iruka lifted an eyebrow. "I’m sorry, I haven’t been myself. I’m sorry that I’ve worried you. Just remember that no matter what I love you and that I will always be with you." The blond said as he hugged his father. "Naruto what do you mean? You make it sound as if you’re being kidnapped." "No, I’ve just…been thinking a lot lately. It’s almost the anniversary, so my mind has been working over time." "Alright I’ll believe that. Just please call me more from now on. I worry about you." Iruka hugged the boy tighter. "Are you sick? You seem a little cooler than usual." "It’s nothing. I’m fine I promise. I’ll make sure to take it easy the next few days." Naruto smiled as he pulled back. "Okay. I better leave; I have a ton of papers to grade tonight. Sasuke please take care of my son." Iruka’s brown eyes shined as if he knew something. The Uchiha only nodded in response. Naruto watched sadly as his father walked away. The man had been the first good thing to happen when he was a kid. And he hated that he would eventually hurt the man when he had to disappear. But it would be better for him to think that Naruto was dead then learn of the existence he now led. It broke the blonds heart. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
