Alright all so here is chapter 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naruto grumbled quietly as a sliver of sunlight brightened the world of sleep behind his eyelids. A wide yawn split his face and he snuggled further into the warm body below him, not willing to cast off the sleep induced haze in his mind.
The body below him mumbled something and shifted, trying to remove the blonde from his oh so comfortable position so he wrapped his arms around it and yawned again, “don’t want to get up, can’t you stay with me for five more minutes. I don’t want you to go back to him yet. “
Sasuke froze beneath the blonde. Clearly his friend was still half asleep and it was obvious he didn’t know it was the Uchiha he was laying on top of and not his, well his lover for lack of a better word. The Uchiha’s heart began to race as Naruto buried his face into his chest and inhaled deeply.
Naruto froze. That scent, that scent wasn’t the right one. He sniffed again softly and opened his eyes to see a dark blue shirt and his sluggish mind registered who he was really on top of. Sasuke? Sasuke!!
The blonde shrieked and rolled off of the Uchiha and onto the floor with a solid thump, cursing as he felt the aches in his body from falling asleep on the couch and not bothering to change his soaking clothes. He wouldn’t be surprised if he discovered he had a cold in the next few days.
“Are you alright dobe?” Sasuke asked sitting up and running a hand through his tangled locks before stretching his own sore muscles, wincing as he heard his bones crack and his joints pop, “damn it why is your couch so uncomfortable?”
Naruto just sat there on the floor by the couch and glared at the Uchiha. What the hell was going on? He remembered Sasuke coming to his apartment last night looking for an explanation for his recent solemn behaviour but after that the entire night was a blur, and why was he so tiered. He only ever felt like this after he cried. Had he cried in front of Sasuke? The blonde prayed to every god that he could think of to let that please not be the case.
The raven’s eyebrows furrowed together as he frowned at his glaring friend, “what the hell that look for?”
“Y-you,” Naruto stuttered and stopped, not entirely sure what was wrong, “I mean what where you, what were we doing sleeping on the couch together?”
Sasuke sighed and got up off the couch so he could stretch properly and gave a shortened version of the previous night’s events to the blonde who looked completely dumbfounded by the entire explanation. “I can’t believe I acted like that,” Naruto said as he studied the floorboards with purpose, “I’m sorry Sasuke, you shouldn’t have had to deal with that. Oh and about what happened when I woke up, sorry about that to, I thought you were someone else is all.”
“Hn,” was all Sasuke said as he offered Naruto a hand to help him to his feet. Naruto took it and smiled when at the raven once he was standing. Sasuke was glad to see that it was genuine, that it went all the way to the blondes eyes. He took it as a sign that, though Naruto didn’t remember much about last night, they were making progress in getting him back to his usual effervescent and annoying self.
Naruto’s stomach gave a loud rumble and he looked at the clock hanging on the wall above his stove in the kitchen. Unless he pulled a Kakashi and showed up late for training he wouldn’t be able to have breakfast this morning. Guessing where his friend thoughts were traveling Sasuke smiled behind the dobe’s back, at least his veracious appetite hadn’t changed.
“Did you forget already dobe; we’re not starting training until 12 today because Sakura has some things she needs to take care of at the hospital. You’ve got plenty of time to eat as much as you like,” Sasuke wrinkled his nose as he breathed in, “and I’ve got plenty of time to go home and have a shower.”
“What’s the point of having a shower if you’re just going to get all dirty and sweaty again at training today,” the blonde reasoned as he ran a hand through his own sleep matted dirty locks.
Before the shocked Uchiha could give a discussed reply there was a knock at Naruto’s door and his thoughts turned from just how little concern his friend had for personal hygiene and how that could be remedied to who on earth could be visiting Naruto at 6:30am and clearly the confused frown beginning to slowly etch itself into the blonde’s features meant that he was wondering the same.
As Naruto casually made his way to the front door to see who it was Sasuke flopped back onto the couch, not ready to make the journey back to his empty home just yet. It wasn’t that being alone bothered the young Uchiha it was just that when he was alone it was to easy to let his thoughts trail back to the subject of his brother and if he really was doing the right thing by granting Naruto his desire and staying in the village.
Still he had to admit through constant training he had indeed gotten much stronger in the last two years and his Sharingan had fully developed meaning now even Kakashi had trouble beating him in a one on one match. But if he had gone to Orochimaru could he be better? If he had abandoned all that he had here and killed Naruto what would he be like now? These were the kinds of questions that plagued him when he was alone in his empty cold home and though there was little he could do about it now he still managed to wonder.
Sasuke ripped his attention from the unwelcome thoughts to the blonde who had answered the door and the side of the conversation he heard as well as the look on the blonde’s face confused him.
“Now’s not the best time,” said Naruto quietly, his eyes glued to the floor, “I’ve kinda got company.”
Sasuke heard mumbling from the other side of the door but couldn’t make out what was said. He also couldn’t see who Naruto’s guest was as the Jinchuuriki fox had craftily placed himself at exactly the right angle. No doubt it had been Naruto’s intention for him not to see who the early morning visitor was.
Naruto’s hand shot to the back of his neck, “No it’s not like that,” he said with a little more volume, urgency beginning to creep it way into his tone, “hey where are you going?”
The blonde cast a glance over his shoulder at Sasuke and that one brief look made the Uchiha curse silently. Just when he thought he was getting Naruto to open up, when he was making progress in putting his friend back together some jerk comes knocking and destroys it all.
As Naruto rushed out after the mystery guest Sasuke stood his fists clenching and unclenching as he fought to control his anger. If whoever this was out there put Naruto back in the state he was in last night there was going to be hell to pay.
The Uchiha stealthily made his way to the front door that Naruto had left partially open in his rush to stop his guest from leaving and as he got closer he began to make out both sides of the conversation.
“Look it was nothing okay. I dropped my keys last night and Sasuke found them is all,” Naruto said by ways of an explanation. Sasuke couldn’t see Naruto’s face but he sounded strange, almost as if he were holding back tears or was afraid of something. “He stayed over last night because it was raining and he doesn’t like the wet. Please don’t be mad at me I was just glad for the company. I get so lonely sometimes and with you always being with Shino and Sakura getting called to the hospital all the time I don’t have anyone to spend time with other than Sasuke.”
Sasuke frowned at Naruto’s explanation of events. Why didn’t he mention how upset he had been and that Sasuke had only been there to comfort him? Surely putting the other party into a state of guilt would resolve the tenseness of this situation much faster. If the blonde could only make whoever it was feel bad then they wouldn’t be able to be angry, problem solved.
But then again, thought Sasuke as he began to slowly edge the door open so he could peek out, maybe what I did last night wasn’t okay at all.
Sasuke cursed his lack of people skills, he could be just as socially retarded as Gaara sometimes and he really didn’t seem to be getting any better as time went on.
“What about Lee or Shikamaru,” the second party said in a gruff voice that sounded more like a growl, “why don’t you spend some time with them?”
“B-but,” the blonde stuttered, “Sasuke is my best friend. Why don’t you like him? I really want you two to be able to get along, he means a lot to me and I want him to mean something to you to.”
The Uchiha felt a faint flutter in his chest at the his friends words and he peeked out the door after finally managing to edge it open enough to see what was going on out in the hall.
At first all the could make out was the glaring orange of Naruto’s clothes as he stood with his back to the door facing whoever he was talking to. Sasuke sighed; as long as Naruto was standing there like that he wouldn’t be able to see anything.
Dejected, the Uchiha was about to return to the couch and stop snooping when the mystery visitor grumbled something about stuck up fools and turned to leave. As he did this the ravens ever sharp eyes caught sight of a tanned cheek emblazoned with a red triangle tattoo.
Kiba Inuzuka?!
I have to admit I procrastinated about this chapter. Kiba is one of my favourite characters and I didn’t like the idea of him using Naruto but he was the one that worked the best for what I have in mind.
