Naruto reached out a very thin, withered, and now pale hand to stroke the older man's cheek, "Kakashi I'm sure doesn't hate you...he was probably disappointed in you...but I don't think he could ever hate you. Not really."
"He should," Sakumo said and leaned into Naruto's gentle touch. "I was never a good father, but by all that's holy I always loved him. Did he grow up to be a good man?" He asked almost desperately. He knew that Naruto had told him so before but still, he craved to hear it.
"We should tend those wounds on your back now, they'll be coming soon."
The blonde's brows furrowed as he started to get up, his body no longer lithe but deathly thin. He winced as he got into a sitting position then turned his back to Sakumo, glancing back at the man, "Kakashi became a great man, Sakumo-san. He lived by the creed of 'Those that break the rules are trash but those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash.' He has never once faltered in that belief and even taught it to me and my other teammates."
"Thank you." Sakumo simply said at Naruto's words about his son, when he heard them it felt as if a small part of his soul was redeemed. He grabbed the water bowl and checked so that the water was somewhat clean before carefully pouring the wounds on the blonds' back to clean out the worst of the dirt lodged in them. The last thing Naruto needed was an infection in his weakened state. He tried to be tender and light handed but he could still feel Naruto's skin jerk in pain under his touch and he cursed the demons who had put them there.
Suddenly Sakumo could hear heavy footsteps coming closer and his movements became more frantic.
Naruto winced at every touch on his wounded back, the stinging they caused was almost unbearable. When he heard the footsteps coming towards their cell, his eyes darted over towards the door to see who was coming for him.
A tall slender man with long dark-grey hair and sickly pale skin unlocked the cell door and entered the room his cold black eyes focused on the pair. Famine, Naruto remembered. The man tossed his hair behind his shoulder before he spoke, "Come, both of you. Strife wishes to be entertained...and he specifically asked for the pair of you." The smirk on the tall man's face made Naruto sick to his stomach. What plans did strife have for him and Sakumo?

Sasuke stood on the hill looking out over the green forest and Konoha rising out of it in the distance. The Uchiwa on the back of his shirt stated proudly who he was to anyone unlucky enough to get that close to him, they usually didn't survive. Finally the day was here, all those fools would pay for what had been done to him and the proud Uchiha clan. He had no doubt that the dobe would try to stop him but he was stronger now, he would beat all of them down. Spinning Sharingan eyes turned around and focused on Suigetsu. "So what can you tell me about their security?"
"Che," The silver haired mist swordsman gave the Uchiha a sharp-toothed grin, "It's rather laxed out, I thought they'd totally have it up...and it also looks like someone got to Konoha before you did because half the village is wiped out, though they are doing some rebuilding. But still...that village looks like it's lost some of it's fight. It's gonna be easy to take it down."
Red eyes narrowed at Suigetsu's words. Sure he wanted the village down on it's knees but hearing that it had already been demolished, it caused something he's tried very hard to push away and forget rise inside him. Anger that someone had dared to attack his home. Sasuke quickly brushed the unwelcome feelings away and drew his Katana, its razor sharp edge glittered in the sunlight.
"Let's go then," He growled." Let's show them what Hawk can do..."
"Hai!" Suigetsu, Karin, and Juugo all shouted in agreement with their leader as they followed him towards the village's walls. Suigetsu, in the back of his mind, wondered what had brought the village to it's knees and also what had caused the once formidable village to lose it's fight.
Sasuke stalked towards the gate trying the bring forward all the hate he could muster. This was the village that had ordered his Aniki to slaughter his entire clan. This was the village who kept him back as a child, who didn't allow him to grow stronger fast enough. Why should he be merciful? They all deserved what they got. He silenced the little voice in the back of his head that told him differently.
Two guards sat in the small wooden booth by the gates checking the comings and goings of the people of the village, chuunin by the look of it. Sasuke didn't know them and for some reason he was glad for that. With one quick flick of his wrist the head of one of the guards bounced over the ground like some morbid miss-shaped ball. Sasuke shook the blood of his precious blade and turned to the other guard who was shivering looking at the Uchiha with wide open mouth and terrified eyes.
"Go!" Sasuke hissed. "Go tell your Hokage that Uchiha Sasuke is here and that he demands justice!"
The three stood defiantly beside the Uchiha as the chuunin tucked tail and ran towards Hokage tower.
"Che...Chickenshit..." the silver haired teen commented with a smirk, "This is gonna be a piece of cake."
"SHANNARO!!" Was the only warning the group got when the ground beneath them began to shift and shake. The ground cracking beneath them, some of the cracks large enough for them to fall through. And there stood Sakura, but something was different about her. Not only was she wearing the normal Chuunin issue uniform there was a look of hatred in her emerald eyes directed at the leader of the group, and her face was contorted in rage.
Sasuke actually stumbled when he saw the look on his former teammate's face, he'd only seen adoration for him and annoyance for Naruto on those features before. He composed himself just as he was about to fall into one of the cracks that spread over the ground and gracefully leaped to safer ground.
What could have happened to make Sakura change so much and where was that damned Usuratonkatchi?...He usually was right at the center of things. Sasuke inched closer to the furious pinkette, if he could only catch her in his Sharingan this battle would be over.
Sakura knew from experience that when fighting someone with the Sharingan you couldn't look the user in the eyes. That person had to be attacked at his blind spot. She also knew that Sasuke was there to destroy Konoha...that he had sworn to destroy it. The last words to Naruto from Pein. And she would stop the Uchiha, but before she would attack him, she would let Sasuke know her true feelings for him now, "How dare you! How dare you return to Konoha now! This village is already dead! Go take your vengeance out on some other helpless village, teme*!"
Sasuke's eyes widened momentarily before he returned to his emotionless state. "Hn, what are you talking about? This village will kneel before me!" Sasuke made a move and before anyone could blink he was behind Sakura, his katana pointed at her back. "Why don't you look at me Sakura-chan?" He asked in a velvety soft voice as his breath fanned over the pinkette's cheek and rustled her hair.
"Because the very sight of you disgusts me!" the pinkette growled, "Because of you, this village is already in ruin! Because of you this village is nothing but a shell of itself! If you hadn't of left to seek power, people that you once held dear to you would still be alive! And none of this would have happened!"
Again the Uchiha almost faltered at Sakura's words. 'People he once held dear', there had never been many of those. He leaned close enough so that he could smell the girl's flowery soap, causing the tip of his sword to stab harder into her back. "Who's dead?" He hissed into her ear.
Sakura pursed her lips and fought the tears that threatened to fall, "Kakashi-sensei..." she hesitated on the last name, her voice cracked as she spoke again, the one name of the person that's death had caused the death of Konoha, "And Naruto."
When Sakura said Kakashi's name Sasuke felt a sharp pang of hurt in his chest. The silver haired pervert was the one who taught him to fight, who had taught him Chidori. In Sasuke's eyes, he had always seemed indestructible. However it was the second name that caused Sasuke's katana to fall out of his limp grip and brought him to his knees.
He dropped his guard! This is my only chance!
The pink haired kunoichi concentrated all of her chakra into her left arm and spun around to back hand the raven, sending him sailing through the air and slamming into a nearby building with a sickening crunch.
"That was for Kakashi-sensei! He believed in you and put all his time and hard work into making you stronger so that you could protect me and Naruto, the two people he thought were most precious to you!"
Sasuke could feel his bones shattering as his body was slammed into the wall of the building. Blood poured out of his mouth and he knew that a rib had punctured his lung. The raven tried to stand up, using the wall to hold on too. Karin was running towards him so that he could bite her and heal. His head was spinning, Kakashi and Naruto gone, it couldn't be. They were supposed to be here, to fight him.
For the time in between the second failed attempt to bring Sasuke back to Konoha, and Kakashi's death, Sakura had made it her top priority to train herself on her speed and agility. She was upon Karin in a second slammed a well aimed chakra infused fist into the girl's stomach, sending her flying back away from Sasuke.
In less than a second she was towering above the Uchiha. She gathered chakra in her foot and kicked him in the groin.
"That was for me! For not listening to me when I told you that seeking your revenge wouldn't do anyone good!"
Sasuke sunk down to the ground in a heap, if he didn't get help he wouldn't make it. He coughed more blood and felt it running down his chin and over his chest. He looked in to Sakura's eyes and shuddered, he saw no mercy only hate. The kind of hate Itachi had talked about, the kind of hate he himself never managed to achieve. The Uchiha closed his eyes and waited for the end, in a way it was fitting that his formed teammate would kill him. Maybe now he'd see Aniki again...and Naruto.
"And this is for Naruto," She growled as she gathered the last of her chakra into her fist, "Who wasted almost 4 years of his life to get stronger so he could bring you home! And at what cost?! For you to knock him down and kick him! You made him feel like a failure! But he wasn't a failure! He was a true hero that has save this village more than once and protected the people in it! But because you made him feel like a failure, every time he lost someone precious to him, the more that he believed he was! And the last person he lost was so unbearable, he took his own life, Sasuke! He killed himself because you made him believe he was a failure! And now I'm gonna finish what he started 4 years ago!!"
All the anger, the tears, the blame, the regret, she pushed it in with the chakra in her fist.
Sakura had been keeping her pain in reserve only letting her feelings show little by little infront of her new lover, Iruka. But now that Sasuke had returned it was flowing out of her like a geyser. And she was pinning the blame of her pain, of Kakashi and Naruto's pain, of Iruka's pain, onto the Uchiha. She wanted Sasuke to suffer as much as she was now. She wanted the Uchiha's heart to break every time Naruto's name was brought up.
Sasuke looked at the pinkette disbelievingly, Naruto taking his own life...No the dobe would never do such a thing. Naruto was the strongest person Sasuke had ever known, he was part of why Sasuke had to leave to get stronger, he'd always known that he was nothing compared to the blond. Sakura's words pierced him and made tears fall from sharingan eyes for the first time since he'd killed Itachi. Was this fate, the punishment for betraying his village and precious people?
Sasuke looked at Sakura, really looked at her. Deep inside he could see the naive little girl he once knew and he smiled softly through the tears before the world went black...This would be a good death.
It seemed like slow motion; Her fist came slowly charging towards the raven's face. The pain etched in the emerald eyes and the tears that flew from them into the air as the pinkette moved. Barely inches from the Uchiha's face, the balled up fist stopped and a tanned hand firmly held onto the girls pale wrist to keep it from moving.
Iruka's muscles quivered with the effort of holding the pinkette back, He looked at her and saw the pain clouding her eyes. "Sakura-chan...Sakura stop! You don't want to do this." He placed his other hand on her soft tear stained cheek trying to make his love look at him. "Naruto wouldn't want you to do this, he just wanted to bring the Uchiha home. Let the pain go Sakura, think about it...think about us." Iruka pleaded, he knew that the young woman would never forgive herself if she killed her former friend. She was a gentle soul and this would break her.
The pinkette's body trembled as her arm was gently and slowly lowered to her side. Let it go, that's what he told her every time she would cry in his arms. But she always held back, as if she were afraid. Afraid if she let it all out at once that Iruka would think less of her, think that she was weak.
"Let it go, Sakura," Large arms encircled her shoulders, "You've been holding it in all this time. Let it go. Cry, Scream, it doesn't matter. Just let it go."
The pink haired kunoichi's shoulders trembled. She bit her bottom lip as crystalline tears began to flow in larger amounts down her cheeks. It started with soft sobs but gradually built up until loud wails erupted from Sakura's lips.
They were not wails of someone in physical pain, but of deep seeded sorrow. The sound caused all the fighting to cease, and the two conscious members of Hawk stopped to watch the scene before them. Even Suigetsu was moved by the pinkette's heart break.
Iruka just held the girl in his arms, letting her cry to let out all her pain and anger. Even though it had happened this way he was glad that she was letting it out. Iruka had seen her emotions building up inside her and he'd been scared of what would happen when she finally cracked. Calloused hands stroked along a slender back as the brunette rested his cheek on top of silky pink hair. He didn't say anything, words weren't necessary. His tender embrace showed that he loved her.
In a flash two ANBU's stood at the scene and then Tsunade was there, looking around with angered amber eyes and a scowl on her face.
"Where the hell is that little sewer rat?" She hollered.
Suddenly she stopped and took in the scene around her. She saw her student stand in the arms of the academy teacher sobbing as if her heart had been ripped out of her chest. The sight made Tsunade's own heart ache and she stepped back a bit, not wanting to disturb the couple. Sakura needed to get this out, otherwise she would never be able to move on. Tsunade was blunt and rash most times but Sakura was one of the few people left that she really cared about, she hated that the young girl had been through so much. She had the urge to go and try to comfort the kunoichi but she knew that Iruka was doing that best of all of them. The silence that had settled over the battlefield was eerie and only deep sobs penetrated it.
Sasuke had regained consciousness as Sakura's sorrowful wail pierced the air and he wished that he hadn't woken. The pain the pinkette let out was tangible and it made the broken raven shiver. Why...why wasn't he dead? He had resigned to his fate of Sakura killing him, what would he do now. Sasuke slowly made his way to a sitting position slumped against the wall. What would happen now?
Shikamaru, one of the few that was fighting off Sasuke's group, stood stalk still to the scene that had unfolded before them. His heart went out to the girl in Iruka's arms. It hadn't been that long ago he had made the same sorrow-filled sounds himself over Asuma's death.
The wail became a scream. Sakura screamed out her pain as she was held in Iruka's arms. And that scream of anguish and sorrow reached the very heavens above.

Kakashi was laughing so hard that he cried at Obito and Rin-chan's antics. Obito had decided to cop a feel and now he was being chased by a very pissed off girl trying to hit him with a stale loaf of bread. Obito's hair was standing on end even more than usual and he giggled manically as he ran around the leafy clearing in circles trying to avoid his crush. The day was sunny with just a few fluffy, white clouds racing over an azure sky and Kakashi felt content and happy. A moment ago he had gotten a strange feeling in his stomach that had made his blood run cold but with his friends around him and the warm sun on his skin he had managed to chase that uncomfortable feeling away.
Kakashi liked daytime, for some reason he couldn't quite comprehend why he didn't like the night, with its dark velvet sky sprinkled with stars... it made him sad.
Rin suddenly stopped chasing after Obito, her brows knitted together as she glanced around the area. "D-did you guy's hear that? It sounds like someone screaming. It's sounds pretty far away but...it sounds...sad...I think..."
Kakashi heard it too, it was a piercing cry filled with the deepest sorrow and pain imaginable. The sound echoed in Kakashi’s soul and made his hair stand on end, he wondered what could be making such a sound and why it affected him the way it did. Something about the pain-filled scream seemed eerily familiar and Kakashi found himself wanting to comfort whoever let it out.
Even Obito’s eternally happy glittering eyes dulled at the sound and he unconsciously stepped closer to Rin, as if to protect her if needed.
“What could i-it be, making such a s-sound?” The black haired male asked in a shaky voice.
Kakashi looked over at his friends wishing that this terrible ache in his heart would pass.
“I don’t know Obito,” He answered his friend. “I really don’t know.”
The scream still echoed inside him.

Naruto and Sakumo were being led in chains by Famine when the sorrowful scream reached them. Naruto recognized the agonizing scream right away as they all stopped in the dark corridor to listen.
"That sounds like...S-Sakura-chan?" His eyes widened and he glanced at the tall grey haired man in front of them, "You didn't bring Sakura-chan here did you?"
"Iie, that's a cry from the living. A cry of deepest sorrow. I haven't heard that sound for centuries." Famine winced at the scream.
Sakumo also shuddered at the scream, in all his years in Tartarus he had never heard such a cry. When even the demon rulers of this place winced, the pain was true and not caused as punishment by them. He hurried closer to Naruto, needing to feel the closeness of his Sunshine. "Sakura-chan, isn't that your friend?" He asked in a low voice as their chains rattled against the cold stone floor.
"She's more than my friend," Naruto gave the older prisoner a sad smile, "She's like a sister to me."
Suddenly their chain's were yanked, "Strife isn't going to wait around all of eternity. Let's keep moving shall we?"
The boy shuttered as they continued down the corridor to a lit room where Famine lead them into. Naruto stood stock still in the doorway suddenly as his eyes took in the horror that was before him.
"Uzumaki-gaki, I should thank you for dying, because now I'm finally free," The red head against the wall spoke as his nine tails swished around him and his terrible crimson eyes focused on the blond, "I look forward to tearing you apart from the inside out."
Sakumo watched the creature as it walked towards Naruto, tails swishing. The demon was beautiful in all its destructive, terrible, power and Sakumo felt as if those burning ruby red eyes could see right through him. He felt Naruto shaking beside him and he would have given anything to be able to protect the boy. As the demon drew closer Famine grabbed a hold of Sakumo's chain and yanked him away from Naruto, he was pulled to the dark throne where Strife was sitting and was then forced to his knees. The man on the thrown was menacing, skin as pale as marble and pitch black, bottomless eyes tearing into you. Strife leaned forward and his long pale blond hair tickled Sakumo's cheek as Strife leaned even closer, forcing his chin up with long bony fingers to look at where Naruto was standing, chained and alone.
"Now you just watch...you're in for a real show." Strife chuckled in his ear.
The young blond's cyan eyes were terror stricken and wide as Kyuubi approached him reaching a clawed hand out to grabbed the chain that was attached to the metal collar around his neck. Kyuubi yanked the blond towards him and showed no mercy, biting down hard on the blonds shoulder and tearing out a chunk of the formerly tanned skin as the young boy screamed out in pain, "Tesukette*!!"
