A/N: Keaira again. >.> Hey, stop booing. Seiaa’ll be back next chapter. *pouts*
Alright, before we start the chapter... review responses! XD Seiaa will probably be better at review responses. If you haven't already noticed, she's the adorable, hyper little chibi. I'll do my best, though.
::Review Responses for Chapter One::
Neko_chan2998: I didn't know you liked ItaSasu! Bekah has corrupted you, ne? XD That's what happened to me.
Ziz: I tend to write a lot of angst, but I'm sure that Seiaa will balance it out. I'm glad you liked it, though.
Shadows Call: @.@ I'm so glad you liked it, your opinion means a lot. You didn't poke me for another chapter at all, but I'm sure I poked Bekah enough for both of us ^^;
evvy: Teh garsp? XD I'm not sure if that was a typo or not, but ever since I read it, it's been popping into my head any time something interesting happens. Glad you like the story, I really wish there was more ItaSasu. But I've been seeing a few new stories with the pairing popping up lately, I hope it's a good sign.
sasu_muffin: ...Your name makes me giggle. I'm glad you like the story, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
blisblop: Yes, I think what drew us to RPing them as vampires was... well, I think it was a fanart we saw. Sasuke and Itachi were facing each other, and their skin was very pale and with the red eyes... well, they just LOOKED like vampires. And when you think about it, even in the anime, it does look like something that could be workable.
::Review Responses for Chapter Two::
Anono Mouse (The Weirdo).: Another name that made me giggle. Even without "(The Weirdo)" at the end. XD What makes you so weird? Hey, we're all reading/writing gay incest, so we're probably ALL weird, although I prefer to think that we're the only really sane ones. And yes, Orochimaru is creepy. It's hard to write him as anything but. You can thank Seiaa for his creepiness, though. I played him in the RP, but I was basically doing whatever she told me to. *ish an obedient little girlfriend*
Maya: I'm really glad you liked it! The Itachi/Sasuke smut starts in Chapter Five, another chapter I have to write. It will be my first attempt at smut, so I'm all nervous ^^; I don't particularly like the idea of Itachi being with Orochimaru, either, that's why we made it strictly non-concensual, for the most part. We just had to do something to emphasize the fact that everything isn't exactly peachy for the boys at Orochimaru's mansion. Can't have them too happy, can we XD? I won't give away what happens to Orochimaru, but I promise that it won't be pretty.
blisblop: Actually, in the RP that we're writing this from, we went into a bit more detail with Itachi's first real encounter with Orochimaru in Orochimaru's bedroom. After a while, Itachi DID sort of... er... give in, so I wouldn't say that Orochimaru is COMPLETELY unappealing, it's just that at this point, even if Itachi doesn't know it, he loves Sasuke. I wouldn't say Orochimaru is a TOTAL bad guy, either, but he does put Itachi through a lot throughout the story. I hope you like it anyway!
blueberry: Cute name! Wow, I'm honored that it reminded you of Anne Rice, I love her books. I was very into vampires for a while, but that kind of died down with my anime obsession. Once again, I won't give away whether or not Itachi kills Orochimaru, but I hope you'll all be pleased with the outcome. The way we've got it planned out, this story SHOULD be exactly ten chapters, so we've got a long way to go.
DemonicDemon: I'm really glad you like it, and I hope you like this chapter just as much ^^
Now, on with the story!
***
Itachi was quickly learning that being a vampire had its up sides and its down sides. On the one hand, he was apparently now Ryo’s new favorite toy. But on the other hand, he had found that if he lost his way in a large mansion-- which he had just done-- he could find his way back using only his sense of smell.
What? It was handy.
Finally stopping outside of the door to his and Sasuke’s room, Itachi grabbed the doorknob and found it locked.
Good…
"Sasuke, it’s me."
There was a brief shuffling sound on the other side of the door before it swung open and Itachi found a worried pair of dark eyes peering up at him. Itachi gave a half smile, trying to reassure his brother, and Sasuke stepped back to let him inside.
"There’s blood…"
"I know."
Itachi walked to the small bathroom that adjoined their room and immediately pulled his shirt off, turning on the faucet at the sink and putting his hands under the water. The liquid swirling down the drain was tinted pink. He heard a soft sigh and looked up at the mirror in front of him as he washed up his arms. Sasuke’s reflection looked back at him from right behind him. They remained silent and Itachi leaned down, cupping water in his hands and splashing it over his face. Sasuke handed him a towel and the older of the two dried himself off before turning back to their room.
Sasuke followed him and they both sat down at the edge of the bed. Silence stretched between them, an uncomfortable silence that the brothers had never experienced before. Itachi loathed it. The two had always been able to talk to each other. He flicked a few remaining drops of water off of his fingers onto Sasuke, and the boy blinked at him for a few moments before shooting him an almost playful glare and wiping his face on his sleeve. The silence had been broken, even though no sound had been made, and the tension in the room was gone.
"Where were you all day?" Sasuke asked, as blunt as ever.
"Training." Itachi flopped back on the bed, brushing hair that had long slipped out of its ponytail out of his eyes.
"Training?"
An unasked question lingered in the air, and Itachi nodded. "Yes. To survive. And to protect you."
The two were silent again, but it was a comfortable silence this time, something they were both used to, and often enjoyed. Sometimes, nothing needed to be said.
"What am I going to do about school?"
Itachi could hear the childish question behind the mature tone. Does this mean I don’t have to go to school anymore?
"You’ll be going back. We‘ll figure something out."
Silence again, and though Itachi wasn’t looking at him, he could practically see Sasuke’s annoyed expression: slim, dark eyebrows drawn together, lips pursed in an indignant pout. Itachi smirked up at the ceiling. Despite everything that had happened, there were still many things that hadn’t changed. Itachi finally allowed himself to admit that he was glad Sasuke was still with him, despite the danger.

Itachi stopped at the end of a long hallway and looked both ways. He sniffed the air lightly and didn’t sense anything that would aid him in choosing his direction, so he turned right and began walking. He had been walking for a while and was contemplating turning around when a solid shape appeared in front of him out of nowhere. He barely managed to avoid running into the tall man, and he sent a sharp glare up at him before remembering that Orochimaru had mentioned other vampires living in the mansion. He tensed, taking a step back.
The man raised an eyebrow at him curiously. He had tousled silver hair and a strange mask covering three quarters of his face, but his one visible eye showed kindness and, to Itachi’s annoyance, lazy amusement.
"You must be new here."
Itachi straightened so that he was at his full height, but he still fell a few inches short of the man in front of him. "I am."
The visible eye closed in silent amusement at the young vampire’s attempt at intimidation, and Itachi’s glare intensified.
"What exactly are you looking for? Only servants come to this part of the mansion."
Itachi snorted. "What are you doing here, then?"
"Stalking one of the servants." Seeming to remember his purpose, the man glanced around a few times, as if expecting to see the object of his desire appear out of thin air.
Rolling his eyes, Itachi relaxed a fraction, now assuming the man to be a complete idiot. "I see."
"You never told me what you were looking for."
"Food."
More amusement. "There’s a whole world of people outside."
"For my younger brother."
"He’s welcome to any of them he wants."
"Human food."
One eyebrow shot up in surprise. "Oh?"
Itachi gave a small nod.
"Follow me." The man turned and led him further down the hall, made several quick turns, and before Itachi knew it, he was standing in what appeared to be a large kitchen. It wasn’t homey, the countertops were all metal, and the room looked more like it belonged in the back of a restaurant somewhere than in someone‘s home, but Itachi could smell food, and that was all that mattered.
The masked man began searching through the cabinets lining the walls, and Itachi tensed as he sensed someone else nearby.
"Stop hiding, Iruka. I’m here to help this boy find food for his brother, not to grope you."
Dark eyes peeked up over the edge of the small island counter in the center of the kitchen and Itachi raised an eyebrow. Slowly, the pony-tailed man stood, eyeing the other man cautiously. "Really?"
The first man beamed. "Would I lie to you?"
"You lie to me all the time, Kakashi." The dark haired man, apparently Iruka, walked around the counter and pushed the other man gently out of the way before leaning up to open the cabinets and pull down a few food items.
"I’m hurt." Kakashi eyed the man’s exposed stomach for a moment before reaching forward, only to have his hands smacked away. He gave Itachi a sheepish grin before hopping up onto the counter and pulling out a small book. The lewd pictures on the front would have been troublesome enough, but Itachi was fairly sure he caught a glimpse of a picture of the pony-tailed brunette in the shower taped inside of the book before he quickly glanced away.
Iruka looked back at Itachi and smiled a little. "How old is your brother?"
"…Almost thirteen."
Nodding and turning back around, Iruka returned to rummaging through the cabinets. Itachi was sure that the man was human, though Kakashi was most certainly not, but what was he doing in a mansion full of vampires? Kakashi had mentioned slaves, but did Orochimaru really own this man?
Finally gathering up the food he’d gotten, Iruka carried it all over to Itachi with a small bit of difficulty. "This should last a week or two. Once a day you can bring him back here and he can have a warm meal with the rest of us. I wouldn’t want him trying to live off of cold cereal."
Itachi gave a mute nod and muttered his thanks before taking the food and walking quickly out of the room, hoping that he remembered his way back.
Iruka looked over at Kakashi, who had remained sitting on the counter and appeared to be completely absorbed in his book. "Go talk to him. He looks like he needs someone to trust around here."
Kakashi glanced up from his book, a wicked gleam coming to his eye, though his expression remained uninterested. "Will you stay in my room tonight, if I do?"
Tanned cheeks slowly tinted pink. "I’ll think about it."
The book closed and Kakashi hopped off of the counter, slipping his reading material away for another time. "I’ll be right back."
Iruka rolled his eyes, still blushing. "Of course you will."
Itachi was halfway back to his room when Kakashi caught up with him, and was unsuccessfully trying to avoid dropping a box of Lucky Charms. Kakashi appeared out of nowhere to catch it just as it finally slipped out of the young vampire’s arms, and Itachi scowled at him.
"I had it…"
"Obviously." Kakashi replaced the box on the top of the mountain of food that Itachi was carrying.
"What do you want?"
"Just to ask how things are going so far for you and your brother, kid." The man seemed unconcerned by Itachi’s hostility, and walked casually, hands tucked into his pockets.
"I’m not a kid."
Kakashi smiled to himself, an almost sad smile. They were all kids when Orochimaru took them. Kids were what the bastard liked.
"I know things are difficult, and I know what Orochimaru is like." A shrug. "He changed me too," Kakashi smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head, "a very long time ago."
Itachi glanced over at him for a moment, then looked back ahead, understanding the words that Kakashi hadn’t spoken. If you need someone to talk to…
"He gets tired of his pets eventually," Kakashi added. "You’ll be free to do what you want, then."
Scowling at the word "pet", Itachi nodded and stopped outside of the door to his and Sasuke’s room. So he wouldn’t be stuck in this life forever. It was reassuring, even if he didn’t like the way that the older vampire had said it.
Kakashi kept walking, waving lazily over his shoulder. "My room’s right down the hall, if you or your brother need anything."
Itachi watched him go for a moment. There was something about the man that rubbed him the wrong way, but that wasn’t what mattered. Clashing personalities, he could deal with. He now had an ally in this hellhole, and that was all he needed to know. He made a mental note to ask around later and find out if Kakashi was particularly powerful, then kicked the door in front of him lightly, arms too full to knock.
"It’s me, Sasuke."
The door swung open a moment later and his brother looked up at him. "Did you find anything?"
Itachi looked purposefully down at the burdens he was carrying. "What do you think?"
Sasuke rolled his eyes and stepped back to let Itachi inside, then shut the door behind him. "Where did you find it?"
"They have food for the humans that live here."
Itachi set the various boxes down on the bed, and Sasuke walked over, glancing up at him curiously as he sorted through all of it. "There are other humans here?"
"Slaves."
Dark eyes narrowed in thought. "Strange."
After sorting through everything to see what his options were, Sasuke set the boxes on a small table beside the bed, organizing them in his own way. Itachi had a feeling that the boy was a little restless. After all, Sasuke hadn’t been allowed to leave the room since they had arrived at the mansion. Itachi’s eyes softened ever so slightly, and he brushed a hand over the soft spikes of his brother’s hair.
"…Are you alright?"
"Fine."
Even if something was wrong, Sasuke wasn’t the type to admit it. Itachi pulled his hand back and looked away. The two were still more alike than Itachi was willing to admit, and it bothered him. Sasuke shouldn’t be like him. Sasuke was better than that.
The younger of the two glanced over at his brother and sighed. "…It looks good," he admitted.
Itachi smirked at him and nodded, then sat down on the bed. "By the way, I met someone today that may be able to help us work something out concerning your school issue."
Sasuke groaned.
Dammit.
