A bond thicker than blood

Here it is chapter 29, a little more tension added to the story.

yeah i know it has been a good deal of chapters and Sasuke still doesnt know, but it is getting close.
the next two chapter is the once where Sasuke gets to know a lot of thing, with out revealing to much about the story.

been lying in bed with a fever since wednesday so my brain havent been working as much so hope the chapter is good.

LadyRonin: Haha well it set my imagination going haha. when it comes to Yamane Ayano i actually dont have any, i only been lucky enough to read some online way back, been trying to find some published work in english and i am sure they are out there, they are just hiding to well. another great mangaka is Miyamoto Kano (which is my absolute favourite), i have (at least i think) all her work downloaded on my laptop, just trying to find where i can actually buy them. but yeah i am glad you liked the beginning of the other story, hope you stick around for it to develop properly as it will take a little longer time than this one. =)

Chapter 29


Sasuke sat in the windowsill the blond usually occupied, it was raining outside. His mind was still going though the event of a week ago.

Sasuke stood looking as his brother had a brief conversation with Momochi, when Momochi had let go of his brother, Itachi proceeded to walk away but he must have said something because all off a sudden Momochi’s face went white as a sheet.

“Naruto are you okay?” Haku grabbed the blond boy on the shoulder trying to get him to look at him. Naruto could hear the boy’s voice in the distance but he did not react to it, his mind was still trying to make sense of the words Itachi had said.

“Uzumaki-sama” now Gaara was trying to get his attention but still the blond boy was only staring into thin air.

Sasuke was still not moving, just watching the people in front of him. His boyfriend was still not responding to the boy’s attempts to get him to look at them. Momochi walked up to Haku and put his hand on the boy and said something Sasuke could not hear but judging from the reaction Haku got it could not be good.

“SHUT UP” the blond boy screamed, he had regained his strength. Everybody stopped what they were doing and looked at the boy, who in return looked at them with anger and fear in his eyes. The blue eyes that had shined this morning were now completely empty.

“Naruto?” Haku said gently .

“No” Naruto backed away, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Naruto we…” Momochi could not get any further as Naruto interrupted him.

“Don’t tell me, it was for my own good right?” Naruto looked at them with cold eyes “Well it’s not for my own good, people want to kill me. People around me are not safe any more, people other than me could get killed because of ME” Momochi, Haku and Gaara knew he was right but how do you tell a person that meant everything to you that they have a price on their head.

“We were only trying to protect you” Haku said knowing it would not calm Naruto down.

“How long did you know that ‘Leader’ and Orochimaru were planning to kill me?” the blond asked. Gaara, Haku and Momochi just stood there not answering “ANSWERE ME, HOW LONG DID YOU KNOW?”

“’Leader has had a price on your head for some months, we didn’t know Orochimaru had planed to … kill you, before now.” Momochi forced out, he could not get used to using the word kill when referring to Naruto but he had known all along that this day would come, it was Orochimaru that had killed Naruto’s family after all.

Sasuke had gone pale when he heard there were people out to kill the blond boy, he had gone even paler, if it was possible, when he heard Orochimaru’s name. ‘What the hell was going on?’

“Naruto, how do you know Orochimaru?” the raven haired boy asked. Naruto froze when he heard Sasuke’s voice, for a couple of minutes he had forgotten that the raven haired boy was still here. Momochi gave Naruto a glare.

“You still haven’t told him?”

“Told me what?” Sasuke was getting really annoyed of being the only one left out of the blond’s life.

“No I haven’t and I wasn’t planning to, at least not yet. I just barely managed to tell him about my family after he told me what happened to his.” The blond boy just wanted to get away, disappear. The web of lies was beginning to tear at the edges and was close to collapsing on itself.

Momochi was confused “his family?” he looked over at the raven haired boy, he remembered his father being Yondaime’s closest friend, and they were like brothers. Although he was not part of the Sumiyoshi-kai family he was part of the Uzumaki family.

“What happened?”

“Itachi killed them to pay off his debt to Orochimaru with their inheritance” the blond said not looking at any of them; Haku could see that Naruto blamed himself.

“Can some one please tell me what’s going on?” Sasuke was angry.

Momochi was about to open his mouth when the blond boy stopped him.

“NO!” he gave Momochi a glare, before he looked over at Sasuke with pleading blue eyes “Its better if you don’t know, you’ll be safe that way.” He said before he turned around and left them.

Every time he thought of that day more questions arose. But what worried him most was that Naruto had not come back after he had left them, it had been over a week. For the first time in his life since his parents had died, Sasuke was scared. Scared that something might have happened to the blond, what if he had collapsed. The image of the first night Sasuke had seen the blond boy break down came to his mind, “Please be okay Naruto.” Although he was scared he was also angry, angry that Naruto still was not able to trust him enough to rely on him.

Sasuke’s strain of thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell, he did not want to open the door but when the doorbell went off another couple of times he got down from the windowsill and headed for the door. He thought it would be Haku or Momochi coming to ask if he was alright, as they had been ever since Naruto took off. He had asked them and vice versa each time if they had heard anything from the blond boy, but each time it was the same answer.

“Neji!!”

“Sasuke!”

The two boys just stood staring at each other, one equally shocked as the other.

“What are you doing here Neji” Sasuke finally asked in a cold voice, still not liking presence of the long haired boy.

“Just to see if Naruto is okay, is he home?” Neji replied in the same cold voice Sasuke had used.

“No he isn’t, anything else you wanted before I close the door?”

“Mind telling me where he is, he has been gone for a week, everybody is starting to get worried” Neji said, not loosing his cold voice.

“Like I would tell you if I knew” the raven haired boy said, immediately cursing himself for saying that.

“You don’t know where Naruto is? What did you do to him?” Neji silently hoped the two had gotten in a fight, but at the same time he was worried. Nobody had seen the blond for a week which could not be a good sign.

“I didn’t do anything, we …” Sasuke decided to stop; things were already complicated enough without an extra person getting involved in what was going on.

“You what? Why aren’t you out finding him?” Neji demanded to know.

“Things are more complicated than that Neji” Sasuke rolled his eyes; the last thing he needed was a bitching Neji on his back. Of course he had been searching for the blond, that’s all he had been doing for the past week, but the blond was gone and it scared him more than anything.

“Nothing is complicated unless you make them, if you’re not going to search for him I will. Remember what I said Uchiha, the moment he slips through your fingers I will be there to break his fall.” Neji turned around and walked towards the stairs and bumped into Gaara.

“Geez watch where your going” Gaara said as he turned to look after the long haired boy, ‘what’s his problem?’

Sasuke saw the familiar boy and only sighed; he had had enough visitors today.

“Hey Uchiha-sama” the red-head said as he came to the door.

“Gaara”

Gaara knew Sasuke did not like him very much, mainly because he was always hanging around the blond. He really did not know a whole lot about Sasuke except for the small things Naruto had mentioned, usually Naruto just asked about how things worked in the Sumiyoshi-kai rather than talk about personal stuff.

“Has Uzumaki-sama come home yet?” he knew it was stupid to ask, it was only another 4 days until the anniversary of the day his parents were killed. But he hoped since the blond had told him about the day, maybe he would come back and ask him to join him at the visit to their grave.

“No he hasn’t, has he been in contact with any of you?”

“No” Gaara really wished he could give him another answer, because the pain he saw in the raven haired boy’s eyes was clearly visible.

“Gaara, can I ask you something?” the red-headed boy knew what Sasuke wanted to ask.

“Sure, but there is only so much I can tell. Something’s are probably better to hear from Uzumaki-sama than me” Sasuke nodded and invited the red haired boy in.

Sasuke made them both some tea before sitting down next to Gaara on the sofa.

“So … I’m not sure what to ask.” The raven haired boy admitted, when he finally had permission to ask questions he was not sure what to ask.

“How about I just tell you what I can” Gaara said and smiled as he watched Sasuke nod. “Well I have know Uzumaki-sama since we were kids, we used to play together every time he came to the orphanage”

“Naruto said you only met for the first time at the beginning of first semester” Sasuke interrupted.

“Yeah that’s also true, he … well after the death of his parents … I dunno why but I guess it was the final straw …. He had some memory loss and Uzumaki-sama can’t remember me, so yeah the first semester was the first time he ever saw me.” Sasuke remembered Naruto saying something about that when he’d told him about his parents.

“Momochi told me not to tell him about the things he can’t remember, in case it triggers something and he fully retreats into himself. He only knows that I know Momochi and Haku, and that they entrusted me to be his bodyguard.” Gaara took a sip of the now semi cold tea, he knew he could not tell the raven haired boy anything else, he had promised Naruto that he would not tell Sasuke anything about their connection with the Sumiyoshi-kai.

“Bodyguard? Because they want to kill him? Why?” Sasuke asked, he wanted to know why someone would want to kill the blond boy.

“That I’m afraid I can’t tell you, I promised I wouldn’t tell you and as I said there are something’s that you need to hear from Uzumaki-sama and not me. Thank you for the tea” Gaara put the tea cup down on the table and got up “I need to get back to the shop” the red-headed boy smiled and bowed slightly before showing himself out.

Sasuke saw the red haired boy in a different light; he was there to protect Naruto because he could not. There was still so many questions he needed to ask but each time he tried to ask Momochi, Haku or Gaara they all said the same thing, that it’s something only Naruto can tell you and it was getting really frustrating.

Again the doorbell went and Sasuke rolled his eyes, why was everybody coming to see Naruto or him today. “Geez, why don’t they all just leave me alone” he muttered as he walked to the door.

“There you are Sasuke-kun” a blond haired girl smiled at him, Sasuke was taken back, ‘what the hell is she doing here?’

“What do you want” Sasuke snapped, he really did not want the blond haired girl around, there was just something about the girl he did not like.

“Aww don’t be so mean, I am here to see you. Seeing as Naruto has taken off.” She said and walked into the flat without an invitation.

“How did you know Naruto is gone?” Sasuke asked

“Well he hasn’t been around for a week now, and since the day of his parents death is coming up in 4 days I guessed it.” she said and smiled, flaunting her cleavage. She had worn the shortest skirt she had and the top that gave her the biggest cleavage hoping that now that Naruto was gone she could seduce Sasuke. “I thought you might want some company” She said and came closer to the raven haired boy.

Sasuke backed away until he reached the wall and could not move any further back, he could feel the blond girl pressing herself up against him.

“I think you better leave” Sasuke said in a cold voice.

“Awww come on Sasuke-kun, let me take care of you. Let me take care of you in a way Naruto never can.” She placed her lips on the boy and gently let her tongue slide over the boy’s lips asking for permission to enter. Sasuke freaked and pushed Ino away so she almost fell.

“What the hell?!?” Sasuke looked at her with a disgusted look

“Geez Sasuke-kun that hurt” she rubbed her elbow as it had hit the edge of the table in the kitchen.

“Get the hell out Ino”

“But …”

“Get the hell out NOW!!!” Sasuke gave her a glare that could kill.

Ino walked out but not before she had said “Why are you with a guy who can’t even return your feelings because he is too afraid of what he is, no matter how much you try to be a part of his life he will never let you in. He doesn’t deserve to be loved by you … I just don’t want to see you get hurt as you are the only one not knowing.”

Sasuke sank to the floor letting his head fall in his hands; it hurt so much not knowing what was going on with the blond boy especially as he could see whatever it was it was destroying him on the inside.

“Damn it Naruto, where are you?”
