It seemed the burns meant Sasuke was in a different room than he expected. To make it worse, Naruto's closest clone was destroyed by a white haired man in a hospital gown, who was trying to unhook Sasuke …

Once it was safe and he felt strong enough Kimimaro put the earpiece in his ear and got up. For a brief moment he allowed himself to savor the feeling of being able to breathe without pain. It’s been a few weeks since he’s felt truly ok. In fact, he knew he was sick, but never said anything. For a while he thought it’d be his only means of escaping the snake sage’s grasp. Now he had another option, but he had to hurry if this would work.
After a moment he heard that the Uchiha lost the match. It also sounded like a brutal match involving fire. Obviously that probably meant the Uchiha was injured and taken by some medics. However, his experience with the snake sage made him wonder if Sasuke would be taken straight to the hospital.
Orochimaru always paid special attention to those with bloodlines. Apparently, some bloodlines make medical issues tricky. In fact, that’s why Orochimaru was so pleased to find Tsunade. Until she came along it was thought his illness was going to be fatal because they knew little about his bloodline. With that in mind Kimimaro figured the hospital would be the best place to check.
As he listened to the chunin exams through the earpiece he quietly and quickly went towards the hospital. By the time he got there the ambush began. As a bonus he was mistaken for an actual patient there because of his clothes and escorted into the hospital for his safety. Right after he was left alone in a room he heard some medics worriedly talking about the Uchiha, who was on the floor below. Apparently, no one wanted to risk moving him to the lower levels because of how badly hurt he was, but they were concerned about how safe he was.
Kimimaro was far less worried. In fact, he was relieved. After he slipped out of the room he carefully ran through the halls. Thanks to the plentiful signs pointing where the various rooms were he soon found his way. There was even a sign on the door of one room that had the Uchiha’s name on it. Without any hesitation he started looking at the chart of the one person in that ward. He wanted to be sure that it was Sasuke since it was impossible to identify the Uchiha through all the bandages. Thankfully, the chart had his target’s name on it just like the door.
“I think he’ll be stable enough if I’m careful.” Kimimaro murmured to himself while looking at all the things connected to Sasuke.
A split second later the door was thrown open again, “Hey! Get away-“
Out of pure desperation Kimimaro warped his own finger bones into projectiles. The blonde was taken by surprise and hit dead on. Despite being so desperate Kimimaro was still happy to see that the blonde disappeared into smoke. He honestly never wanted to hurt someone so it was a welcome discovery to see that it was a clone. Unfortunately, it was a clone, which meant the original person knew he was there and someone was probably coming for him. Now there was no time to lose.
“I’ll just take the IV.” Kimimaro gasped as he quickly took the IV stand holding the fluid filled bag.
Yet again, he warped his bones. This time his vertebrae poked out of his back and formed hooks. Those new structures created the perfect means of hooking the IV stand to his back. With his hands free he just smashed the window and scooped up the Uchiha. The heart monitor immediately popped off the Uchiha’s skin when Kimimaro moved away from the hospital bed.
While carrying Sasuke in a bridal style hold he jumped out of the window. The second his feet touched the branch of the closest tree he took off at full speed.
Almost immediately he realized it wouldn’t be fast enough. Out of the corner of his eye he saw an army of the same blonde as before. The blondes were gaining on him quickly. As the feeling of being close to getting caught grew, Kimimaro realized that he had to fight his way out.
Naruto stopped when the young white haired man stealing Sasuke stopped, “I guarantee that he’s too annoying to be of use so just put Sasuke down.” Naruto said as he had his clones surround the young man, who was also wearing a slightly blood speckled outfit. That outfit made Naruto wonder if the man was one of Orochimaru’s ninjas or if he really was a patient, but either way he had to get Sasuke back.
Kimimaro adjusted his grip on the sleeping Sasuke and pushed his arm bones into his hand effectively making a sword, “I’m sorry, but I can’t let that happen.” He said and swung the bone sword with just enough power to keep the blondes back as he made a hand sign.
“Shit.” Naruto hissed as he jumped back to avoid the forest of large sharp spears made of bone erupted from the ground. Several of his clones were destroyed simply because they were too close to dodge fast enough. However, that didn’t bother Naruto. “Hey! What’s going on?” He asked and it had nothing to do with the bone spears. N had everything to do with Kimimaro, who fell to his knees in pain.
Only a second after making the bone forest Kimimaro felt an intense pain in his chest. As he fell to his knees he found it very difficult to breathe just like before. A very familiar coughing spell wracked his body. To his surprise the blonde ninja risked coming close to check on him even though he could’ve been faking.
“Ok … so you are a patient or at least sick. Calm down. I really don’t want to fight you.” Naruto said as he kneeled down next to the white haired man. He made some new clones, but they only stood guard. After all, no one wanted to try to remove the Uchiha and startle this guy or rip out the IV, which was conveniently attached to the white haired man’s back. “Fuck. That’s a lot of blood. I’ll get you help too.” He said as he caught Kimimaro as he fell forward and gave Sasuke to his clones.
“No!” Kimimaro yelped with blood dripping from his mouth. He felt so weak that he leaned forward so his face was buried in the blonde’s jacket. “She said … it cured me but … please just kill me-“
Another violent series of coughs took Kimimaro over. However, this time it was so bad that Naruto decided to do something drastic. With a quick hand sign and completely encased the sick ninja inside a large crystal gem.
“I promise I’ll look into this. Just rest in there.” Naruto said softly as his arms easily moved through the crystal like it was water to push Kimimaro into a more comfortable position. “Now how to disconnect you two.” The blonde pondered as he focused IV.
Half of the IV tube was hanging from Sasuke’s arm. Unfortunately, the other end was connected to the bag and stand, which were inside the crystal. After a couple moments he figured out how to unhook the stand from Kimimaro’s bones. Once the blonde reached in the crystal he unhooked the IV stand free from the spine. More clones appeared and some helped Naruto carry the gem away as the rest of the clones took Sasuke back to the hospital.
A few worried medics shot the blondes hateful glares, “What did you do to Sasuke, you demon? Was hurting him not enough?”
The clones didn’t respond. After all, there was no convincing them that Naruto only wanted to help. Without even looking at them they put Sasuke back into the hospital bed, put the IV stand back and left to find other parts of the village where they could help.

Kakashi sighed as he dropped down next to a shaking Sakura, “It’s over, Sakura.” He said gently as all the other civilians in the stands were released from the genjutsu that made them sleep through the chaos.
Sakura nodded timidly, “I think … I shouldn’t be a ninja.”
“Maybe.” Kakashi said and sighed. “To be fair it’s my fault. I should’ve made sure you were prepared, but I didn’t. Hell, I spent all my time on only Sasuke and yet I clearly fell short there too. Keep that in mind and think about how you want to continue for a few days, ok?”
The pinkette wiped away the tears around her eyes and nodded. Their attention was grabbed by two people calling out for Sakura. It turns out that those people were the pinkette’s very worried parents.
Kakashi watched as Sakura ran over and cried in her parents’ arms, “I think I lost another student.” He said and spotted a few Naruto clones talking with the hokage, who has changed back into his robes, and Guren. “I better go deal with my loss.” He said with a sigh when he saw Kurenai, Kurama and some guy named Utakata joined the conversation.
After jumping closer Kakashi heard what the blondes were saying, “The boss agrees, sensei, but he still hasn’t gotten the hang of the Spy Glass jutsu so he can’t do a full body transfer through crystal.”
“And your only option was to drag a crystal coated criminal through the village making you open to attack and leaving him in your house, which potentially revealed its location?” Guren asked sarcastically before looking at the hokage. “Excuse me, hokage-sama. I have to make damn sure that my student grasps this jutsu before it causes more trouble.”
Hiruzen chuckled, “Of course. When Danzo says that there’s room in the ROOT infirmary, bring this person there.”
Guren nodded then eyed the clones, “Naruto will not only never be dizzy from this technique he will transfer the crystal captive himself.” She said in a dark tone. Everyone knew that Naruto will be in for a brutal training session. However, Guren wasn’t done taking victims. “Sand boy! You’re going to help me with a project!” She ordered, giving Gaara no room to argue so he followed her as the clones left to help with repairing the village.
“Wait, why does she want Gaara?” Kakashi blinked and looked down at the talking plush raccoon ninja, who was with a giggling plush octopus in Kurama’s arms. “I don’t like the sound of this. I’m going with them … not that I care about my vessel because I don’t.” He muttered a bit too defensively making Kurama scoff clearly not believing his brother.
“Whatever you say, Shu-coon!” The purple octopus called out while waving one of its tentacles. “That reminds me! Big brother, Utakata wants to be part of the harem!”
Utakata turned bright red, “That’s not what I meant!” He yelped and looked at Kurama. “Being a demon vessel makes me either a target or a monster and I really just can’t deal with that anymore. I was hoping I could stay around people more understanding on that front.” He clarified quickly.
“I definitely understand that. I’m sure something can be worked out. Right, Hiruzen?” Kurama asked calmly, though his eyes had an amused glint in them and they lingered on Utakata a little too long.
Hiruzen chuckled as he watched Utakata’s blush come back, “Yes, we can talk about it in a minute. First, I believe there’s something to discuss. Don’t you agree, Kakashi?” He asked and finally his eyes focused on the silver haired ninja. “Kakashi?” The hokage said a little louder in an attempt to get Kakashi to focus.
“Huh?” Kakashi mumbled and finally stopped staring at the adorable, and shockingly, talking plush octopus. “Oh right.” He said sheepishly when he saw that the hokage was pointing at Kurenai. “How long was I supposed to-“
“Two years. You’re my slave for the next two years.” Kurenai said bluntly.
Kakashi hung his head in defeat, “Oh yeah.” He muttered with a pout. For a moment he honestly hoped that Kurenai forgot about that. “Ok, so what’s my first task, mistress?” He asked, but winced as Kurenai glared at him.
“I am not the other woman.” Kurenai muttered feeling very annoyed from other people calling her a genjutsu mistress in the past. If you have mastered a craft then you deserve the title of master no matter your gender.
Kakashi gulped, “Got it! I won’t make that mistake again, master.” He said quickly realizing that she was taking this seriously.
“Good.” Kurenai said with a smile. “Your first task will take 6 months.”
The silver haired ninja raised an eyebrow, “That’s quite a while.”
Hiruzen smiled, “Don’t worry. I cleared your schedule. I do believe that this will be important.”
“Really?” Kakashi asked curiously as the hokage handed him a key.
Kurenai nodded, “That key is to your new apartment. Your task is simple. You are to pretend to be Naruto and stay in the village. Try to buy food, get anything, stop by the doctor and really anything you can think of. Oh and use a seal on your henge so it won’t go away with a single hit.” She said cryptically, only adding to Kakashi’s confusion.
“Precisely.” The hokage said cheerfully. “If you do seriously need medical attention I suggested having a ROOT agent keep tabs on you.”
Kakashi blinked, “Wait … why would I need a guard? Am I training as Naruto or something?”
Kurama chuckled, “No. Now go be Naruto and don’t worry about crossing paths with him while playing him. Naruto won’t be in the village.” He said not bothering to explain anything beyond that.
The fox demon watched as Kakashi just shrugged and henged into Naruto. After Hiruzen placed a seal on Kakashi he told Kakashi where to find the new accommodations. It just so happens to be near the center of town or what some consider to be the best part of the village. Kakashi was under that exact impression as he left. He’ll soon find that there was no safe place for Naruto in the village.

Danzo walked into Naruto’s home with Fu and frowned, “Guren? Where is the criminal who tried to take Sasuke? Hiruzen said Naruto brought him here-… is Naruto on the other end of that rope?” He asked nervously as he examined the sight before him.
All the furniture in the was moved back to make room for a large door sized piece of crystal. The floor was also coated in crystal, but that wasn’t the most interesting. Coming out of the mirror was a crystal looking rope. One end was tied around the couch and the side that disappeared into the mirror was shaking.
It was then that Danzo realized what was going on. Guren used her skills and pushed Naruto’s body through the large crystal. She probably made Naruto climb back up the rope and use the technique to get back through the crystal. However, Guren would just warp the crystal on the floor so he couldn’t get a grip just to throw Naruto back through the crystal.
“What makes you think that?” Guren asked innocently despite seeing Naruto try to climb up the rope and try to get through the crystal door. However, once Naruto proved he could move through the crystal Guren warped the crystal flooring so it made spikes and extended the crystal rope. In the end Naruto fell and had to climb back up again.
The leader of ROOT blinked, “How long have you been doing this? … and where is the other end of the rope?”
“2 hours.” Guren said with a casual shrug. “I had Gaara take a crystal and fly up with his sand to hold the crystal over that deadly cliff nearby.”
Fu winced, “So Naruto is hanging over a deadly cliff … wait, you’ve been doing this for hours? Did you hear about the recent storm warning? It should be coming soon.”
“Storm?” Guren mused and they all looked at the crystal rope, which started swinging wildly. “Oh crap! Grab Gaara! I’m pulling you up!” She yelled hoping Naruto heard as she started shortening the crystal rope and removed the crystal flooring. Suddenly, Gaara, Naruto and Shukaku went flying back through the crystal door and into the living room. “Good timing. Just started raining.” She commented when she noticed everyone was slightly soaked.
The plush raccoon growled, “What the hell?! Our sand is useless when wet! We were falling down the cliff!”
“Oh you're fine.” Guren said cheerfully despite being very worried a minute ago. “So you fully went through the crystal. It connected with all your senses, not just your eyes. Are you dizzy?” She asked Naruto sweetly.
“Nope!” Naruto gasped and technically he wasn’t now, but he was also a bit traumatized. The adrenaline might have a hand in that. “Are you guys here for the guy who tried to take Sasuke?” He asked as he stood up and helped Gaara.
Danzo nodded, “Yes. We are hoping he has information on where Tsunade is since we only found and captured Orochimaru.” He said as he followed Naruto to the kitchen where they saw the crystallized person laying on the table. “Interesting. He looks like a hospital patient.”
Fu frowned, “Let’s see what that’s about.” He commented as he made a hand sign and sent his mind into Kimimaro’s. “His name is Kimimaro and I doubt he’s our enemy, but he does know where she was going to meet him.”
The situation was quickly explained and an army of ROOT agents took off towards the Valley of the End. They just hoped that they were in time to catch Tsunade …
