“try talking to Naruto before you worry … and ummm … when Minato gets here could you try not killing him until after he explains? … please” Kakashi sweat dropped when Menma didn’t answer. This was not going to be a pretty reunion …

“thank you for helping out” Hana said as Fu held the little puppies so each one could get their baths.
“I was happy to help. These little guys are just so cute” Fu cooed as she cuddled one of the puppies. Some of the older dogs began growling and both Hana and Fu jumped up to see who was coming towards the compound. It was a handsome young man with long dark brown hair who was clearly happy to see Fu for he smiled and waved as he followed Sarutobi “Shibuki! I missed you!” Fu cheered and ran over to hug the man … while being careful so the puppy in her hands wasn’t squished.
Shibuki hugged the girl, but afterwards he turned serious and was clearly going to scold her “do you realize how worried I was about-” before the scolding could continue Fu resorted to a really sneaky trick … she pushed the puppy into Shibuki’s arms forcing him to succumb to the cuteness “awww who’s this little guy?-” he blinked then focused back onto Fu “don’t use puppies to distract me! You were missing for a month and out of nowhere I get this letter from you saying that you were here for two weeks! Two whole weeks?! Why didn’t you send a message sooner?”
“I’m sorry, but I was worried that you’d make me leave right away and I didn’t want to go until I knew Naruto was ok” Fu pouted.
“you didn’t tell me much in your letter so who’s Naruto?” Shibuki asked never actually stopping in his petting of the puppy who had fallen asleep due to all the attention.
Sarutobi chuckled “Naruto is the one who saved her. He was badly injured and only just woke up from a coma two days ago”
“really? Then I should definitely meet with him and thank him personally” Shibuki said.
Hana rolled her eyes and pointed to the puppy in his arms “that little guy just had his bath and he’ll need his mother’s milk soon so he should go back with the others”
The leader of Waterfall eyes lit up at that “there are more … can I see?”

Naruto winced as he tried to sit up in the bed with Karin’s help “so most of the others are off on missions”
“kind of, the third hokage wanted to establish a few treaties and sent many of the others to places like Wave, Mist and Stone so for a couple days it’s just me, Ayame and Sakura who wants to visit tomorrow to check for any infections” Karin said a little nervously as he tried to unwrap the bandages with a shaking hand. He has developed a big crush on the blonde in the short time he has known him and it wasn’t going away any time soon.
“that’s ok though I’m sure they will be energetic when they return” Naruto chuckled as he recalled their methods of keeping him active during his recovery.
Karin blushed, he and most of the compound knew how Naruto’s husbands were helping him “o-oh r-right … I … I can help with that … if you … need that” he said so quietly that most people would’ve missed it entirely, but Naruto didn’t. Both canine familiars laying on the floor rolled their eyes as their master somehow managed to snag another suitor in their opinion it was getting insane.
The blonde blinked at the sudden confession “Karin-”
“no it’s ok! Just forget it!” Karin yelped as a wave of panic hit him. There was no way Naruto would give him a chance, right? Naruto already had so many gorgeous husbands here he was … a skinny red head who was covered in bite marks and on top of it they had a link through the Uzumaki clan. Granted the blood tests proved that they weren’t truly related, but that small link plus everything else had Karin absolutely convinced that he’d be rejected.
Naruto stared down at the red head who was fumbling with the bandages. He sighed and took the shaking hands in his own “Karin” the red head blushed and looked up at the blue eyes “I wasn’t going to tell you off … I would love to be with you too, but we should take some time to get to know each other first. After all I was unconscious for most of the time I’ve known you” he said making Karin blushed an even darker shade and they both couldn’t help but chuckle at that fact.
It was true really. Naruto had more bonding time with Guren in the summoning world than he had with Karin. Most of his husbands he has known throughout his life. Another he spent a while with fighting a war. Gaara has spent more time with him during the exams! Granted Naruto, Gaara and Kurotsuchi weren’t officially together, but during his coma word of what happened leaked out everywhere making all those who knew him worry including Gaara, Kurotsuchi and Mei all of which have been sending letters that demanded updates on his health. Yesterday he personally wrote to everyone showing that he was alright and recovering nicely so he’d hear back soon …
“you’re right … it really doesn’t bother you?” Karin asked and reluctantly let go of the blonde’s hands so he could return to dealing with the bandages. He finally managed to get a solid grip on the old bandage and began unraveling it gently. Normally he’s much better at treating injuries since he bandaged many on his own person from the injuries caused by people biting him, which is why Hana asked him to handle changing Naruto’s bandages, but the blonde just made him so nervous.
“what do you mean?” Naruto asked.
“the fact that we’re connected to the same clan and … the scars from the bites” Karin clarified sadly as he removed the last of the bandages.
Naruto raised an eyebrow at the reasons. Having the power to heal someone by letting them bite you must have enormous drawbacks. Refusing was easy for the blonde who simply couldn’t imagine causing someone pain just to rid the pain he was in, but he knew that there many weak people who’d gladly sacrifice another person so they didn’t need to face reality “we aren’t related so there’s hardly an issue there and as for scars … do my scars bother you?”
“huh? No, why would they?” Karin said sincerely and he looked over Naruto’s heavily scarred chest and glanced at the back, which was even worse. As far as he could see there was only a handsome man and he wanted to be with that person. During the moment the red head stared at the blonde’s chest Naruto leaned over a little and when Karin finally looked up he captured those pink lips with his own. The soft kiss stunned Karin, but after a second his eyes fluttered closed.
A coughing sound forced the couple separate and look at the people who entered the room “are we interrupting something?” Sarutobi asked clearly very amused at the little scene he was seeing even though the person with him was blushing.
“nothing that can’t be resumed later” Naruto grinned making Karin blush and Sarutobi laugh.
Karin quickly went back to applying a medicine to the healing wounds trying to ide that embarrassed blush on his cheeks “I was just changing Naruto’s bandages”
Sarutobi smiled knowingly “so I see … your wounds are healing quite well Naruto”
“I have excellent caregivers that have amazing bedside manners” Naruto said with a serious look on his face that broke into a smile when Karin whimpered and leaned his head against the blonde’s shoulder to hide yet another blush “so who are you?” the blonde asked the handsome man next to Sarutobi.
“oh! I’m sorry, my name is Shibuki” the raven haired leader said almost shyly.
“Shibuki? Oh yes, you’re Fu’s friend and the leader of the village she lives at. She told us a lot about you” Naruto said with a smile as Karin finished wrapping the wounds.
“she did huh … how much did she tell you” Shibuki asked really hoping that Fu didn’t blab something completely embarrassing to this guy who’s actually really cute.
The German shepherd shook her as she watched the four humans chat “I swear he’s like a damn magnet”
“just imagine Eliot what it would be like around here if men could have kids” said Lazarus as he stretched out on the floor to get comfortable.
Eliot pondered the thought for a moment “we’d be over run … but you know, I wouldn’t mind watching his many pups”
Naruto sweat dropped “we can hear you two you know” he said to his canine familiars who did a lazy canine version of a shrug in return and went back to sleep.

“hey sensei” Kakashi said cheerfully as he saw Minato in the hospital lobby ready to be escorted home.
Minato smiled sadly as he saw his former student, but noticed his son, Menma, was still not there to see him “hi Kakashi”
“now I was given a message from Sakura with all the instructions and medication you will need… I will be staying with you and Menma to help out so don’t worry and to make things easier I made your room on the ground floor just so you don’t have worry about stairs. Oh and no wild parties … unless I’m invited” Kakashi said trying to lift his sensei’s spirits if only a little bit. He wasn’t too happy with Minato’s actions, but Kakashi understood what it was like to lose someone and knew it can have a massive affect on someone’s mind. The man was only human and clearly regretted what he did so he’d help him just as Minato did for him back when his father died.
“he doesn’t want to be alone with me” Minato summed up the situation in an instant.
Kakashi chuckled nervously “errr … well you see … umm …”
“it’s ok, I understand” Minato said sadly knowing all too well the depth of the hole he was in with his sons.
“I’m here sensei … come on, lets get you home” Kakashi said and walked alongside the blonde all the way home.
The worst part for Minato was the people they met while going to the Namikaze compound. Everyone was so cheery and happy that he was getting better and … the praise. Undeserved praise for trying to hunt down the demon was thrown at him and it made the blonde hokage feel even worse with each step he took. If they all only knew what he did then … then what? They’d leave him alone? How will everyone react when he announces the truth?
As they entered the compound Minato was jolted from his thoughts as he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Kakashi holding him steady and almost protectively. It seemed off, but then he noticed the other person in the room “Menma I am-”
“no … just don’t” the red haired Namikaze said firmly “all my life you told me to keep two standards. On one side I had to not judge people and on he other you told me to judge Naruto. On one hand you said never live filled with hate, but on the other you flat out told me to hate this one person. I never liked the person I became when Naruto was around, but you said I had to be that hateful person and now … do you realize what kinds of things I said to him? … if I knew Naruto was my brother, my family, I would never have said those things and I can’t take any of it back. I hurt my family and it’s your fault so thanks, thanks a lot” Menma snapped bitterly as he wiped some tears from his eyes and rushed upstairs to his room.
Minato flinched at the sound of the door slamming hard and he started thinking about someway to make amends, but what could he give his sons that could at least earn him a few seconds of their time “Kakashi … could you give me some paper and ink? I want to practice some seals”
“ok, but don’t use chakra for at least a few days. Doctor’s orders” Kakashi said as he went to find some paper and ink. He wasn’t sure what Minato had planned, but he knew the blonde hokage was determined to find some level of forgiveness …
