Last Time:
Kimimaro took the chance to return to his room and prepare a message about the lab to send to Cave. Once he shut his door and pulled out his beetle he felt a tickle in his chest. A couple of seemingly innocent coughs followed only for him to find blood in the hand that he used to cover his mouth ...

A woman with short blue hair looked up and frowned, “Kurama. We have a message.” She said her lip twitched in amusement as Naruko bolted over and immediately offered her arm for the bird to land on. Nothing got Naruko’s attention faster than a message from Kimimaro. Unfortunately, the blue haired woman’s pink eyes noticed that the fake beetle had one wing up and one antenna missing. “It’s not just a love note this time!” She said as the bird handed the note over to the blonde for some food.
“What?” Naruko gasped and noticed the problem.
No changes in the beetle meant it was a message for Cave. One wing up was a message for the middle man team, which also involved little love notes. One antenna missing was a signal for help and Naruko instantly opened the beetle. The news made her worry.
“He added coordinates for a lab, but he says he’s coughing up blood!” Naruko exclaimed. “This has to be a reason to remove him, right? How should I respond, Alice?”
Alice tapped her chin in thought, “If Orochimaru thinks he’s training then we might have a while before he realizes we took Kimimaro. Tell Kimimaro to go to the east training area he was at one week ago. We’ll meet him there, but make sure he knows not to let anyone see him cough up blood. Put a little bottle of cough suppressant in the bug. It should suppress his cough until he’s safe.” She ordered as she gathered their gear and removed every trace of their campsite.
After unsealing the medical kit and putting a small bottle of a purple liquid in the beetle Naruko started writing. Once the letter was done and after making sure the bottle was secured for the flight, the beetle was given back to the bird. With a simple word the bird flew back towards Kimimaro.
“We should hurry.” Naruko said once the bird disappeared into the sky. She sealed the medical kit into her arm.
Sara nodded, “Remember not to go too fast. It will take him less than a day to get there and we need to maintain a civilian appearance when in range of Orochimaru.”
“Yeah ...I know.” Naruko said softly. She didn’t like it, but they had to be careful.

A few hours passed and Kimimaro casually walked outside of the hidden lab. It was only to pick something up and turn back around. With great care he returned to his room, which unfortunately didn’t have a window at this lab. That was the only reason he had to risk going through halls of the lab not once but many times to send and receive the bug. However, it was worth the risk.
When a disturbing tickle started in his chest again he took off and covered his mouth. He did whatever he could to hold back the coughing spell off until he returned to his room. Kimimaro just barely managed to get to his room without being seen. Once slammed the door shut he fell back against it coughing violently.
It took several moments, but once the coughing fit stopped he could ‘finally breathe normally. Without looking at the blood coating his shaking hand he grabbed the bug that fell to the floor during his coughing fit. However, it was a pain to open. Not only did he have trouble because of his shaking hands, but the blood he coughed up made his fingers extra slippery.
Eventually, Kimimaro did manage to pry open the fake bug. As carefully as he could with his unsteady hands, Kimimaro tipped the fake bug upside down allowing the contents to spill into his lap. For a moment he was surprised to see a small bottle fall out along with the note, but he figured the note would explain. Those shaky fingers unfolded the note and read the coded message.
“A cough suppressant.” Kimimaro said softly and he carefully picked up the little glass bottle with a purple medicine inside.
Opening the bottle wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but after a few deep breaths he managed to calm down a bit. When his nerves settled his hands stopped shaking as badly. That was a good sign in a way. Not only could he now open the bottle without spilling the precious liquid, but he now knew his slowly growing fear was what caused the shaking and probably not connected to the coughing up blood issue.
After opening the bottle and bringing it up to his lips he thought about something. The whole reason he was asked to spy was to get information on the many hidden labs, both abandoned and those that were still in use, that Orochimaru has all over the Elemental Nation. Despite having delivered plenty of information he knew there were probably a few more labs he hadn't seen yet. If there was one thing he had to complete before he left, it was finding a way to get the last information to Cave.
“I don’t know how long this’ll last.” Kimimaro muttered as he stared at the contents of the bottle. Maybe he’d be pushing it, but Kimimaro did want to at least check to see if he could get any information.
Once that decision was made the purple liquid was swallowed. To the spy’s shock there was an amazing feeling of cool relief flooding his chest. It occurred to him that he hasn’t felt this good in a while. As he pondered how long he might’ve been sick and just didn’t know. he grabbed the bug and destroyed the message.
Without wasting a moment Kimimaro left the room. It’s not like he wanted to waste time packing since Orochimaru would get suspicious if he took any supplies that would imply that he wasn’t going to return. The last thing he needed was to have the snake sage on his, and more importantly Naruko’s, tail before he got far enough away. With that in mind he calmly, yet quickly, made his way through the halls to get to the main lab. As he approached the computer he pulled out the bug and hit a small button inside.
It wasn’t the biggest camera bug, but it was strong enough to catch everything as he skimmed through the computer. He didn’t bother actually reading the instructions on various experimental jutsus and stats. The main goal was to get everything he could on the camera, not to slow down and personally analyze the information. Considering the sound of footsteps coming towards him he was wise to not focus on the information and just allow the bug to get everything. Kimimaro had enough time to close up the computer screens and hide the bug in his pocket just before the door to the room opened.
“Kimimaro.” The white haired spy turned when he heard Orochimaru’s voice. “What are you doing here?” He snapped, clearly still annoyed.
“I wanted to ask if I could go train outside for a few days, master.” Kimimaro asked calmly.
Orochimaru scoffed, “Very well, but be back within a month. I want everyone to be ready to jump Sasuke once his team leaves on their first mission. I’m sure the first mission will be D-ranks that will be on the edge of town since the village will want to push him to get stronger faster … idiots probably don’t realize that Danzo has been doing that already.” Orochimaru muttered, but he seemed to be trying to convince himself to look on the bright side and believe that the Sharingan was still within his grasp.
“Of course, master.” Kimimaro said with a respectful bow before calmly leaving the lab.
Not one second was wasted after that. Kimimaro left the compound and took off as fast as he could. Unfortunately, he might’ve pushed it and strained his lungs. After a few hours at top speed a fit of coughs hit him so hard that he missed his landing and fell from the trees. He almost caught himself despite the bloody and brutal coughs, but the supposedly solid ground gave way. Before he knew it he descended into darkness. The landing wasn’t too bad, but the shock to his body made his lungs revolt and he suddenly went from coughing to barely breathing at all. After a few panic filled moments he started blacking out …

‘If you have any respect for Minato Namikaze then you will allow me to retire - Kakashi’
Hiashi’s eyes narrowed at the note a messenger bird left for him, “What the hell is this about?” He wondered and immediately left his family’s compound to find Kakashi. Considering the jonin specifically mentioned the Fourth Hokage it was possible he’d get some answers if he went to the memorial for those who died during the nine tail fox’s attack 16 years ago.
“So you got one too, huh.” Hiashi looked up to see Tsume, Shikaku, Shibi, Inoichi and Choza also on the same path. “We each got one and we are all kind of curious.” Shikaku admitted casually as Hiashi walked up to them and joined their group.
Tsume snorted, “You guys may only be interested in the retirement part, but not me. Hell, if he has the paperwork I’ll sign it immediately. I do want to know what this has to do with Minato.”
Inoichi sighed, “You can’t possibly mean that.”
“Yeah.” Choza said as he and the others continued walking along with the others. “There’s no one else capable of teaching Sasuke how to use his Sharingan … well, none loyal to the village.” He muttered, obviously reminding everyone about Itachi’s existence though it didn’t count in anyone’s opinion since Itachi was believed to be a traitor.
Shikaku was the first to spot the silver haired ninja standing in front of the stone monument, “Let’s see if we can clear this up … Kakashi!” To his, and everyone else’s, shock the usually friendly ninja turned towards them with a hateful glare in his one visible eye. “Ummm … we wanted to talk-“
“I only want one of you to sign so I can spend the rest of my life taking care of my sensei’s daughter. Considering how this … fucked up village treated her, no one here deserves an explanation.” Kakashi said bluntly as he unsealed a set of papers.
As promised Tsume stepped up, or shoved since they were either too stunned or too stubborn to get out of her way, and took out a pen that she apparently brought with her, “Not sure where you got the idea we’d ever hurt Minato’s daughter because, assuming he had a child that survived, we would never-“
“Naruko is his daughter.” Kakashi said sharply once the signature was finished and he sealed away the official documents.
“Huh?” The council members all mumbled in their stunned daze as they tried to process what was said.
Kakashi scoffed, “I found her years ago … want to know something interesting? The person who saved her showed me some horrifying hospital records. Severe starvation, bloody gashes … there’s so much more, but I doubt you care. After all, you were all allowing it-“
“We didn’t know! … are you even sure that she’s …” Shikaku tried, but failed to finish that sentence. If it was true then what the hell can they even say?
“Yes, her blood opened a scroll I sent her for her birthday.” Kakashi said and, though he didn’t show it he took great enjoyment in the way the council members shifted. They all just seemed to shrink in guilt and defeat. “The night she was saved the civilians tried to gang rape her… I suppose I understand why you wouldn’t give a shit, Hiashi, since it was the night your daughter was nearly kidnapped-“
“Stop!” Hiashi exclaimed. “You have to be mistaken. That’s not when Hiruzen-“ he was cut off when Kakashi unsealed a file, opened it up and showed them the date Naruko was admitted to the hospital. “That’s not …” Hiashi winced as the information sank in.
The silver haired ninja nodded, “Yes. I, along with many other people, were blown up just to cover this up, but that’s when I noticed the insane speed of the rebuild. I found out how my sensei’s daughter really lived.” He growled furiously. “I was constantly sent on missions, given the run around when trying to adopt her and all to hide this disgusting treatment.”
Tsume’s eyes narrowed, clearly furious, “I agreed to sign because I want to see Hiruzen cry, but now … do you want anything else?” She offered, no doubt wanting to help in any way that will add to someone’s, mainly Hiruzen’s, trauma and try to do something to make amends.
“The Akatsuki are after her.” Kakashi said bluntly. “She agreed that she’d be safer in a ninja village.”
Shibi’s eyebrows rose in interest, “You’re bringing her back-“
“Not as a ninja.” Kakashi said with an eye smile. “She will be staying with me. I don’t expect any trouble from you now,” he muttered, enjoying the way the council members flinched. “The civilians will still still cause trouble, but not for long. After all, I’m the dear friend of Konoha’s biggest sponsor so they will back off. Have fun telling Hiruzen that I’m retired. I have to set things up for when Naruko returns in about a month!” Kakashi exclaimed in a much more cheerful tone before walking away.
“I guess we will.” Hiashi said quietly.
The ninja members of the council exchanged glances, mostly guilt filled, and started walking towards the hokage tower. It just so happens the assigning of genin teams was happening right now. They all entered the large room filled with jonins who were ready to be assigned some young naive genin. However, it seemed everyone looked annoyed and were waiting on something.
Hiruzen immediately turned his eyes to the council members from his spot on the podium, “Have any of you seen Kakashi? We’ve delayed long enough.”
Tsume smirked, “He just filed for retirement … and I signed.” She said smugly despite the looks of shock and confusion from everyone else in the room. The look of horror on Hiruzen’s face was too satisfying for her to give a damn about anything other than Naruko. Right after her announcement she walked away to figure out a way to earn Naruko’s trust.
The second the door slammed shut Hiruzen snapped out of his daze, “WHAT?!” He looked at the remaining council members in a panic. “A quick vote will overturn this-“
“Did you know Naruko Uzumaki was Minato’s daughter and that she disappeared before the day you claim … during the incident with Cloud?” Shibi asked bluntly the sound of Hiruzen’s jaw hitting the table in shock was all they needed to hear and they left the room leaving dozens of baffled jonins and a hokage, who was mid panic attack, behind.

Sasuke glared and stood up, “What do you mean my team doesn’t have a sensei yet?”
“Yeah …” Iruka frowned and his shoulders slumped almost as if he felt guilty about something. “Well there was some news and the person who was supposed to be your sensei retired to take care of someone.”
“I see.” For a moment Sasuke seemed to shrug it off, but once the instructor left he ran out through the window. It’s not like he had to wait for a sensei so it didn’t matter and he rushed to the hidden compound. “What happened to Kakashi?!” He demanded loudly.
Danzo walked out of the room with a smirk, “So you heard-“
“Of course I did. Now what’s going on? He’s supposed to lead me to Naruko.” The Uchiha snapped.
“It seems he’s delivering her to us.” Danzo said and after a quick explanation Sasuke was also smirking.

Yumi and Yobaba watched as Kakashi walked through the door of their personal home in Konoha and gave them the thumbs up, “The seeds are sown.” Yobaba said with a smirk of her own ...
