Pupils in the blue eyes dilated as the light from Sakura’s small flashlight skimmed across the eyes’ surface. Ayame came in with some tea and set it next to the hospital bed for when the medic finished the exam. Hinata and Haku got some fresh bandages ready for rewrapping the wounds later. Other than that everyone waited anxiously for the report on Naruto’s health …
“I don’t see any damage with your eyes” Sakura stated happily and moved to testing the reflexes and motion in Naruto’s body. The blonde did each test as instructed from trying to move each of his limbs without stressing his wounds to flaring his chakra gently to check his coils “your toes are moving so there doesn’t seem to be any obvious nerve damage” Sakura grinned and ran a quick medical jutsu over his stomach “you’re healing perfectly. Just keep the bandages clean, try keeping up some motion to keep the joints flexible and prevent any blood clots, but other than that strict bed rest”
Naruto smirked “shouldn’t be a problem. I over heard these guys plotting to keep me in bed and my blood flowing”
“oh really?” Sakura hummed flashing the blushing Hinata a teasing smile as Tsume and Hana threw their heads back to laugh “and patients say I have good bedside manners … I’ll stop by every week, but call if you guys need anything. I wish you a fun recovery” Sakura snickered as she left.
“she’s far more pleasant now … thanks Ayame” Naruto said gratefully as his lover handed him a cup of fresh green tea.
Kiba smiled as he sat down next to the hospital bed “she was the only reason we were able to get the equipment to help you … well she technically stole it”
Tsume snickered a the shocked look on Naruto’s face “that’s true, it was hilarious!” she gave a calm smile and gestured for all those not married or dating Naruto to leave “it’s good to see that you’re alright. I’ll leave you with your nurses. Keep him out of trouble you guys” she sang teasingly as she left succeeding in making a few of the men blush at the nurses comment … though it gave Anko some ideas.
“it’s good to see you’re getting better man. I’ll tell Mom to come and visit with Itachi and Shisui … don’t tire him out too much you guys” Sasuke grinned as he made his way out of the room and shut the door letting the lovers have some privacy. Even Lazarus and Eliot decided to patrol outside to give the blonde time with his lovers. Anko, Guren, Ayame, Konohamaru, Hinata, Haku, Kiba and Tenten arranged themselves around the hospital bed much to the blonde’s amusement.
“I know when you guys are nervous … what happened while I was out?” Naruto asked noticing the slightly nervous twitching from Konohamaru and Ayame as the most obvious signs that he missed something big.
Haku frowned “the third hokage is currently in control, Karin is staying here as the new member of Konoha and Fu is still here since she wanted to make sure you were ok … and I sent a message to Mei and Gaara telling them you are awake. Danzo was killed and Orochimaru too” he explained, but he wasn’t sure how to explain about Menma.
Anko sighed and jumped into the conversation “Menma knows”
“ah … had to happen sooner or later I guess. How did that happen?” Naruto said before sipping his tea and wondering how this will change things.
“what do you remember seeing right before you blacked out?” Hinata asked trying to see how much his husband knew already. It would help when this issue with Minato came up.
Naruto thought back for a moment “I remember hanging from the chains … meeting Karin … finding Fu … I do remember parts of our escape and when I was stabbed in the stomach” the blonde murmured as his hand unconsciously touched his the bandages wrapping his abdomen “after that … I’m not sure … it sounds odd, but I saw Danzo and Minato for a brief second … I don’t know if that was real since I should be dead if I was within range of either of them … right?” Naruto raised an eyebrow as he noticed a strange silence “what am I missing?”
Guren licked his lips nervously and sighed knowing this might be terribly confusing considering Naruto’s past with Minato “that part was true actually … most of the others here couldn’t come due to injuries, but I saw it personally … Shino’s insects were able to track you down. Myself and an entire search party were headed for you. A barrier around Orochimaru’s hideout blocked us, but only for a moment, which Jiraiya found puzzling. Either way the barrier was down so we kept moving … I saw you, Fu and Karin racing out of the hideout … y-you were bleeding so badly, but you threw Fu ad Karin towards us despite your injuries and faced the incoming army yourself, which was stupid!” the crystal ninja snapped.
“I know, but I couldn’t help it! It was a reflex!” Naruto chuckled nervously as he foolishly tried to hide behind his teacup.
“we’ll have to do something about those reflexes before we lose you for good” Anko huffed making the blonde sweat drop.
“anyway, I tried to reach you, but I wasn’t fast enough …Danzo was standing right in front of you … he was going to kill you … I don’t know when, but Minato appeared behind the old warhawk and killed him. You blacked out and that’s when Juugo and I were able to get to you used my crystal jutsu to make a shield around you and stop the bleeding as Juugo prepared to fight Minato, but … Minato just said ‘take care of him’ before passing out. I didn’t know everything that went on between you two so I brought him into my crystal dome for protection. Although when I heard the rants about the man from basically everyone present after I told them I wish I hadn’t” Guren mumbled. In his opinion Minato has a cruel streak just as bad as that bastard of a snake sage if not worse, but Orochimaru mercifully never had kids of his own so he couldn’t compare in that way … though considering the horrific experiments he did on kids it wasn’t pretty to think about what would happen to any blood related child.
“yeah … I can see how that wouldn’t go over well” Naruto commented absentmindedly. His lovers give him either a set of eye rolls or scoffed, but each of them realized that Naruto wasn’t really listening. In fact he seemed to be deep in thought for the next couple minutes. It was Haku’s gentle touch on his hand that snapped the blonde out of his daze “sorry … I zoned out there … soooo … Minato saved me? That’s not an easy thing to process”
Anko scoffed “tell me about it. It would be as weird for you as it would be for me, Karin and Guren if Orochimaru came to us with gifts and groveling for forgiveness” the purple haired ninja said and both he and Guren cringed at the absurd thought. Yes, the man was dead so there was, of course, no chance of that, but even if he lived it was unbelievable to think he would do such a thing.
Tenten frowned “Minato is awake now … has been for about two days according to Sakura. He even tried talking to my mother this morning just before you woke up, but whatever was said mad Tsume mad … getting back to Menma. You see he somehow got it in his head that Minato wanted to kill you-”
“an understandable conclusion if you ask me” Konohamaru quipped quickly.
“yes, but for some reason he thought he should try to kill you” Hinata explained.
Ayame shivered at the reminder “I came later that day and when they told me I realized why he looked so off … he passed the ramen stand on his way to you. He looked off and was carrying a scalpel” he said wishing he could’ve gotten involved somehow, but the strong hand taking his made him relax a little and he smiled at Naruto. The blonde was happy his civilian lover wasn’t involved with a ninja who was off his rocker for that moment. It’s hard to say what would’ve happened to Ayame in such a situation, but Naruto couldn’t imagine how he’d feel if Ayame was hurt or worse …
“Ino and Sasuke caught him before he got to the compound, but everyone heard the argument” Hinata said as he opened the window for a breeze “he wanted to kill you … he stole a scalpel from the hospital. I guess he had this mental break while visiting Minato, who was still comatose at the time, and had no other weapons at hand. As a result Menma came armed with that one scalpel thinking he could take out an entire compound to get to you … of course when Menma was caught he went ballistic. Sasuke and Ino tried explaining who you really were, but that just pissed him off more”
Naruto raised an eyebrow and tried to lean over to set his empty teacup down, but that proved to be too painful and Haku happily set the cup aside “Ino knew? That’s unexpected”
“we all thought so. Granted he didn’t know about the distinct lack of any part of a demon being sealed in you, but he knew enough to be sure that you and Menma were twins. Sakura stopped the argument from going completely out of control and convinced Menma to let a blood seal settle this … he came back with a scroll sealed with a blood seal” Anko said knowing no further explanation was needed …
“can’t argue with those results” Naruto groaned. This was not how he imagined these secrets getting out, but on the up side most of the scenarios he thought of involved him being dead and he isn’t “how did he take it?”
Konohamaru sighed ”Jiraiya had to knock him out before he lost control of the nine tails. Kakashi did mention Menma has calmed down since then and that he is broken up about everything” he said as he stood up “now we really should change your bandages”
The bedridden blonde smirked as each of them began removing their clothes shamelessly baring their skin “is this a new method of wrapping bandages?”
“yes … now behave and let us take care of you” Anko purred as he carefully crawled on top of Naruto without applying pressure to any of his wounds and slowly began unwrapping the old bandages as he kissed the blonde. He suddenly threw his head back and moaned as Guren decided to play with Anko’s cock. Naruto looked on in a lustful daze as his lover became flushed with pleasure. The changing of the bandages was barely noticed for Hinata and Haku worked quickly before joining in the fun. “assuming his health continues to improve then yes, but don’t worry. I’ll be here to help out. Good news is that Naruto is awake. Sakura signaled me and Jiraiya through the seal and met us on the path to the Inuzuka compound so we didn’t disturb him … although she did imply he was enjoying a new recovery exercise … wonder what that means?” Kakashi pondered out loud.
“don’t know, I’ll ask Sasuke to get some details … I said so many terrible things to him … how do I even begin to make amends for that?” Menma asked clearly going back to the subject of his long lost brother.
“try talking to Naruto before you worry … and ummm … when Minato gets here could you try not killing him until after he explains? … please” Kakashi sweat dropped when Menma didn’t answer. This was not going to be a pretty reunion …
