Later that night
Narrator POV
"I need a favor from you." Orochimaru said. He and Jiraiya where sitting in Orochimaru's hotel room, a bottle of sake sitting between them. Empty bottles littered the floor around them.
"Sure. What do you need?" Jiraiya slurred. He had certainly had more than his drinking buddy, but other than his speech it was hard to tell.
"I have something I need to talk to you about but you can't tell anyone else about it. If word of this spreads it could cause countless deaths."
"I have a feeling that your little SilverFish project is about to come back to bite us all in the ass." he said.
"No. Its not that but its just as bad if not worse. I need all the information you have on the eight trigrams seal. I've looked all over but there's surprisingly little to be found on it."
"What the hell are you working on that requires the eight trigrams? Do I even want to know?"
"I don't really know if you do or not. The less you know the better for me I guess, but I'm not above telling you everything if it gets me the information I need."
"What did you do?"
"Its not what I did. But it could have been something I didn't do, that I should have done, but I don't think I could have made a difference in what's happening."
Orochimaru sighed. How to explain without telling him anything? If it was found out…..
"You know that the only thing the eight trigrams can be used for is sealing the unique chakra of a tailed beast, right?" the sage asked. The snake man nodded.
"I don't know what more you need to know, thats just about all there is. It was men to be like a one way door, for a jinchūriki to pull the demons chakra out and use it at will. I don't even know who created it."
"I found an old scroll from a village in Whirlpool that made mention to it. It was vague and not even worth the trouble it took to get it. I could tell it was an Uzumaki script though. That was all I was able to get from it unfortunately."
"That doesn't really surprise me. They where known for their seals. And more than a few held the nine-tailed fox-" he cut off, gears turning in his head.
Orochimaru could see it coming. The connecting of the invisible dots. It could get him killed but he needed to know.
"What do you need the seal for? I can't be the Kyuubi, he died with Naruto."
"Have you even heard the new theory that energy doesn't die? It just changes shape." he said.
"Are you telling me that the fox or his chakra is lose somehow? The seal wont help with that. God, Orochimaru, if that chakra is out somehow we need to tell the hokage. Something needs to be done!" the sage exclaimed raising to his feet.
"Its not out! Let me explain!" Orochimaru said pulling him back down.
"The chakra is not running lose. You are correct to assume that Kurama is dead. But you are wrong about everything else." Orochimaru sighed and got up. After rummaging in his bag he came back with a scroll.
As he unrolled the paper Jiraiya could see the blood. His eyes widened. He had never seen anything like it. Every word was written in dark red blood. And that was not Orochimaru's handwriting. It seemed ancient. The letters flowed into one another, and the words made little sense to him. Like a foreign language.
"What is this? I can't even read it."
"Its called a blood scroll. It is used mainly for treaties to make sure both sides hold up their ends. But this one is used for silence. It is so you will be unable to speak of this to anyone who's name is not written on this scroll."
Moving to the door, Orochimaru made some hand signs. Placing his glowing hands to the door, the walls of the entire room shimmered. A silence jutsu. After retrieving a kunai and a feather quill from his bag, he sat them on the scroll.
"I can't cay anything until you sign this, with your blood. I doesn't matter what name you use, your blood doesn't lie." he said.
"Where did you learn this? I've never heard of something like this before."
"I have scrolls older than three of the five nations." was all he said. "I need your help Jiraiya. But if anyone finds out about this….. I can't risk this getting out. Its too dangerous. You either give me what I need, without signing and stay safe, or you can sign and put the target on your back. There is no middle ground for this."
"I trust you." Jiraiya reached for the kunai. With a small quick cut, the blood began to pool in his palm. "Were do you want it." he said picking up the quill.
"Anywhere is fine. But its not me that you need to trust. This is not my story to tell, and it will get messy. Just telling you could get you killed. Once you know… I can't promise you anything. If it blows up in your face, I can't help you." the snake warned.
"Then its a good thing I already know how to watch my own back." he said holding the dripping quill to the paper. His name appearing in the bright red as it moved over the scroll.
The name began to glow, and the bright red blood turned dark as the jutsu took hold.
