Base didn't know what drew him to this place, he had no idea, but for some reason he was pulled like a magnet towards the forest, towards the hidden cave there. Base remembered the cave. It was the one in which he'd killed Daichi's kidnapper years prior. It was also one of Yuudai's 'secret' locations, somewhere he went to get away, to clear his mind and to calm himself down.

It was a special place for the boy. No one else knew about this secret place, no one except Base, who had followed Yuudai more then once to the cave. Like a magnetic force, Base was drawn back to the cave. Although the only scent of Yuudai was older then three months, Base's gut told him the teen was there…waiting.

As he approached the opening of the cave, something made Base draw back. A strong red chakra surrounded the cave entrance, a warning to anyone or anything wanting to enter that a demonic presence was inside ready to kill if threatened. Base's instincts screamed at him to leave, to protect himself from the red chakra that had almost killed him weeks before, but his heart screamed louder, demanding that he find Yuudai, to protect his mate. Slowly the wolf god stepped into the cave, yellow-gold eyes scanning the darkened walls. Memories of the black clothed man holding Daichi hostage flooded the wolf's mind.

“Yuudai?” his voice was soft, caring, slowly trying to coax Yuudai from hiding. Base knew Yuudai was there. He couldn't explain how, he just knew it.

The hot red chakra wrapped around his arm and legs, pinning him in place. He wouldn't have run, but the demonic chakra made sure he wouldn't leave at all. He followed the lines of red to a darker, hidden corner of the cave. Two red eyes stared back at him. The sight startled the wolf god.

“Is this why you are in hiding?”

“Go away Base... I don't want you here.”

Slowly the wolf god stepped forward. The chakra held firm, pinning him still. His eyes narrowed and darkened.

“Yuudai, hiding will not solve anything. Talk to me... please.” The glowing red eyes closed and Base was left staring at nothing for a while, before they opened again and Yuudai stepped out of the shadows. His once long raven black hair was now a deep crimson red shade with orange highlights and his once onyx black eyes where glowing red. Behind him idly swung an orange and red, white tipped bushy tail. Upon his head sat two pointed red fox-like ears. Base bit his lip, his eyes widening.

“I'm a freak.” Yuudai's eyes darkened, the chakra tightening around Base's legs nearly crushing the bones there as the wolf god laughed loudly. His body hunched over as he continued to laugh, ignoring the pain in his legs.

“Stop laughing you damn mongrel!” Base's laughs died down. His breathing was fast and hard as he tried to catch his breath, calming himself down.

“I'm sorry... You just look so cute.” Yuudai's face matched the dark crimson red of his hair. He pulled himself back into the shadows slowly, his tail swaying irritably behind him, his ears pressed flat against his head.

“What?”

“You’re very cute like this... How did it happen?” Yuudai's head lowered, Base watched as an ashamed look spread over the fox teen's face, his ears drooped in embarrassment.

“I fought with mom... He was going to kill you... I used too much chakra I guess...”

“Yuudai... it’s only temporary...”

“It’s been two weeks!” Base stepped forward feeling the chakra loosen its grip on him. He placed his hands on either side of the fox teen's face and leaned forward kissing his cheeks tinted a bright pink shade. Yuudai felt his mind slip, he felt himself melt into the kiss, feeling the warm tongue of his lover brush past his lips. Yuudai's eyes closed, his arms wrapping around Base's shoulders. They pulled back and Base's gaze softened, his hands ran through Yuudai's hair, pulling the long strands enough to show the colour change.

“The hell?... I'm.... I'm back to normal?”

“You just needed to relax enough to allow the chakra to bury away... The same thing happens to your mom... Only... He's a bit more...”

“Sexually aggressive?” Base's brow rose slightly as he stared down at the black haired teen. Yuudai's face turned a shade of red before he hid his face into the wolf god's chest.

“It’s not that hard to smell it when he’s around!” Base let out a loud laugh as he pulled Yuudai close, pressing his face into the brunette's raven black hair.

“B-Base.”

“Hold on... Let me just take in your scent.... You... don't realize how happy I am.... Yuudai I thought I lost you... So many times....” Yuudai felt his body relax against the wolf god's hold. He understood what Base was saying. Yuudai had been playing an emotional cry baby for years, pushing everyone he loved away.

“I was scared too.... W-when I found you and mom.... I thought mom killed you Base... I thought you were dead.... I... I lost it.... I... I can't imagine my life without you!” Base pulled his face from the long silky strands of hair. He rested his head upon Yuudai's shoulder kissing the nape of the boy's neck softly.

“I owe you my life..... I am indebted to you.... for all eternity.” Yuudai felt his face heat up. He pushed the wolf god away and shot a glare at the wolf.

“Stop being so weird!” Base laughed and took a hold of Yuudai's hand, leading him out of the cave.

“W-wait... I can't go back.”

“Why not?” Yuudai's face lowered slightly, a look of guilt upon his face.

“I attacked mom... I.... I attacked him.... He'll hate me.”

“Yuudai.... there isn't a chance in hell your mother could ever hate you. After all the shit you put him through for years... attacking his demon to protect me isn't going to make him hate you. If anything he'll be proud of you.” Yuudai looked towards Base and sighed, before stepping beside him.

“If you say so...” Base smiled, entwining his fingers with Yuudai's. Their hands squeezed together before they stepped off, towards Konoha.
