After Iruka was asleep, Yamato leaned up on one arm and propped his head on his hand. He reached up and brushed the hair out of Iruka's face, playing with it lightly.
"So, now what, Yamato?" Kakashi asked.
"Hmm?" The other man asked, looking up. "Now what what?"
"What do we want with him?" Kakashi looked down at the teacher, sleeping peacefully where he was up against his body. He felt so good here.
"What do you mean? I thought we'd already figured that out. We want him to be part of our lives." Yamato sighed.
"Yes, that's true, but in what way?" Kakashi asked, frowning. "I… don't know if I want to be away from him any more than I want to be away from you."
Yamato swallowed. "I know. I can't imagine not waking up with him, falling asleep with him. It's like…if you were gone, it'd be like missing my arm. If he were gone, it would be the other one, you know?"
"Yeah. I know." Kakashi let it roll around in his head. "But he's almost always here in the village. I somehow doubt he's going to want to go on any more missions than they make him."
"That's true. How…" Yamato started, but paused.
"What?"
"How would if affect us if he were to come live here with us?" Yamato asked, his eyes meeting the mismatched ones.
Kakashi frowned. "Well, we already know we can sleep together."
"Even with my sprawling, yes." He smiled, then turned serious again. "But I mean more our relationship?"
Kakashi shrugged his shoulder. "Well, would it be any different than if we continued to have a relationship with him that didn't involve him living here? We both already know we love him, just as much as we love each other. Logistically, I mean, it just means one more person with laundry, a bit more in food and such, though I doubt sincerely he'd let us pay for everything anyway."
"No, he wouldn't. You know, we never did talk much about money, either."
Kakashi shook his head. "We didn't, that's true. It's something we'd have to sit down and talk out, but I think we could. Talk about it, that is. And make everything work pretty well."
"Yeah. So… do we want him, then? Here?" Yamato was still playing with Iruka's hair.
"You mean permanently? Instead of just visiting?" Kakashi thought it over. "I think you're right. I don't want to wake up without him any more than I want to wake up without you."
"Well, okay then. We're agreed? We'll ask him to?"
Kakashi smiled. "I can't wait to see his face."
Yamato chuckled. "That'll be something, no doubt."
He'd cooked again. Grilled fish of some kind that smelled incredible. Iruka stretched carefully, grateful that his chest had mostly stopped hurting. He took a deep breath, noticing that he could do so without that causing too many problems, either.
He wondered if he could get away with sex. Then realized that he was making an assumption about them. He shook his head at himself. They'd given him no indication that they wouldn't want it when he was healthy. He'd accepted that they loved him. Love him. And if he was going to accept that, then he had to recognize all of their kisses and touches since he'd been home with them. They wanted him, period.
They weren't in the room, either of them, and that was a little unusual. Just about every time he'd been in here one or the other was with him. He sat up and turned to climb out of bed when he saw it. On the pillow next to him was a folded piece of paper and a wooden dolphin, obviously made by Yamato.
It was beautiful. No bigger than the size of his hand, it still had incredible detail. The belly was stained a lighter color than the rest of it. The ears and the blowhole in its head were there, tiny but there. The eyes had intelligence, the beak was slightly open, even showing tiny teeth. Carved on the underbelly in very small letters was his name.
He turned and picked up the piece of paper and opened it. It was a handwritten note in Yamato's writing. He blushed a little when he realized he recognized it. Shaking his head at himself, he turned to the contents.
We didn't want to wake you. There are clothes at the bottom of the bed for you. If you're up for it grab a shower before dinner. We'll be in the living room with a surprise for you. I hope you like the dolphin.
Love,
Kakashi & Yamato
He blinked at the note a moment. Puzzled, he glanced down to see a nice shirt and dress pants, obviously Yamato's. He shook his head at it and headed into the bathroom for the mentioned shower. They had a surprise for him?
He cleaned up quickly and hurried through his hair brushing. He'd already smelled the fish cooking, so it couldn't be too long before it was done and he didn't want to make them wait for him. It still felt a little weird wearing Yamato's clothes, but he didn't want to push the issue, either, because he didn't really want to go back to his tiny apartment.
He picked up the dolphin again, checked himself in the mirror and headed out to the living room. And stopped dead.
There were lit candles everywhere, the fireplace was going, and the table was set very nicely. He saw a bottle of sake next to the fire, warming. But neither of them was there.
He stepped into the living room and turned toward the kitchen. Both of them came out at the same time, dressed like he was - dress pants, a very nice black button-down shirt on Kakashi and that yummy looking green sweater on Yamato. And twin looks of hunger on their faces, both directed at him.
He'd left his hair down and the shirt he was wearing was blue, but otherwise, he looked much like they did. Or, well, he was dressed like they were. In his opinion, nothing could look as good as either of them.
"We know you're not up to going out yet, but we thought we'd ask you on a bit of a date here." Kakashi said.
"Date?" Iruka looked around and it clicked. They were taking him on a date!
"Yeah. The two of us can't seem to get it right, though. We know you're really supposed to take someone out for a date before you bring them home for sex. But like we did with each other, we couldn't seem to wait for that." Yamato smiled.
Iruka swallowed. "Well, um, I'd be happy to go on a… date with you." He shook his head and remembered the dolphin. "It's beautiful," he said, holding it up. "I love it."
Yamato blushed. "I'm really glad. So, would you like to have a seat for dinner?"
Kakashi paused to give him a kiss. "It'll be served shortly."
He and Yamato sat at the table, Yamato making sure Iruka sat where he would be between the two of them. A moment later, Kakashi brought out the food. It was the fish he'd smelled earlier, which looked amazing. There was rice and vegetables, too. Yamato got the sake and poured some for each of them.
He had no idea what to do with this. But Kakashi started normal conversation that Yamato picked up and he relaxed a bit. They got him laughing, talking about his students, and before he knew it, Yamato was clearing the dishes and they were moving over to the couch with their drinks.
They put him between them on the couch and to his surprise, turned on the television. Yamato turned the video on and sat back. Iruka found himself distracted quite a bit at the proximity of the two men. He would have thought that, after spending as much time over the last few days with them that he did, it wouldn't be so bad, but apparently not.
As such, he couldn't have said much of what happened in the movie. He really tried to concentrate, but all he caught was something about snow and samurai. That was, until he could have sworn he actually saw the copy nin in the movie. "Yes, that's me," Kakashi said when Iruka pointed at the screen.
Iruka turned to him, blinking. "You were in a movie?"
"Yeah, we had a mission up in the land of snow to escort this movie star up there. Turned out, she was really a princess. Anyway, they, of course, tried to kill her while we were on our way and they filmed some of the battle." He shook his head. "I really didn't want them to, but Naruto and the princess convinced me to let them put it in."
Iruka laughed. "That sounds like him. Well," he said, turning to look at Yamato, "did you know your boyfriend was a movie star?"
"Yes, but only because the team insists on watching it every time it's on TV. Naruto swears you can see the corner of his hair in one scene." Yamato said, shaking his head.
Iruka laughed and turned back to the movie. He listened as Kakashi pointed out little bits here and there where the actress had needed fake tears to make a scene work or how funny it was to see the dead samurai get up, pull the half sword out of his chest and hand it to the prop guy. Then go amble over to the food table for a snack. All while he was covered in fake blood.
"Sure takes some of the fun out of it, doesn't it?" Iruka said.
Kakashi shrugged. "I don't know. Here, for instance, they didn't need to do a thing. Those were Sakura's real paper bombs. I didn't even know the film crew was up there, then or I would have sent them away." He chuckled. "Which is probably why they didn't let me know they were there." He shook his head. "I don't know. It's still a wonder to see what you see at a filming and then have something this complete when it's over."
"I guess so." Iruka said, then nearly moaned when he felt the hand start to play with his hair. Yamato was doing it in just the way he knew would drive him crazy. He glanced sideways, but the other man was still watching the movie. He tried to force his breathing to calm and concentrate on the rest of the movie, but until he saw the snow start to melt and flowers bloom, he was only able to pay half attention. "Wait, how long did they spend on this movie?"
"Well, that probably took about three days to finish filming. They kept having to move to different spots so they could get all the right angles. But the area right around the device started changing within a few minutes. It was crazy." Kakashi shook his head.
"Wow. So it's true, then, a big part of the Land of Snow…isn't anymore?"
"Nope. The central part is now like a late spring most of the year." Kakashi sighed as the credits started to roll. He shifted on the couch and turned to Iruka. "So, how are you feeling?"
Iruka couldn't mistake the look of heat in Kakashi's eyes. He glanced at Yamato and saw something similar. "I'm feeling good now. I think I'm pretty much healed."
Kakashi nodded. "Good. We were hoping so. " He smiled. "We… have something we'd like to ask you."
Kakashi couldn't believe how nervous he was. He knew the man loved them. Knew how he reacted when they touched and kissed. So, he couldn't quite wrap his head around how nervous he was at this.
He and Yamato had decided that he would actually ask. And at the time, it had seemed like no big deal.
But now… he realized his hands were shaking a little and if he didn't get a grip, even his voice was shaking. It was ridiculous!
He swallowed, took a deep breath and opened his mouth.
And nothing came out. He blushed and glanced at Yamato. The other man nodded encouragingly. "Ruka, you know we love you, right?"
The younger man nodded. "Yes. I… I love you both, too."
Kakashi cleared his throat. "We, um, Yamato and I, we'd like to ask you…" Oh this was ridiculous. For the love of God, he took down s-ranked criminals, he faced Akatsuki members, was in two separate wars, the Kyuubi attack and survived Naruto! You'd think he could ask a question.
"Would you move in with us?" There, it was out. And it was worth it, to see Iruka's face.
He was fairly certain his mouth was hanging wide open and his eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head. He thought maybe they were going to ask him if he'd be up to going into the bedroom for something other than sleep. Or maybe if he was ready to go home.
"Move in? Here? With you?" Duh, Inner-Iruka said. No, they were asking you to move in with the nin-pack.
Kakashi smiled. "Yes. In here, with us. Be our partner."
Iruka blinked again. He couldn't be hearing this, no way, it wasn't possible. He turned to Yamato and forced himself to calm down enough to really look at the man. He was nervous, afraid of Iruka's answer. The teacher turned back around and noticed the blush on Kakashi's face for the first time.
They were nervous! They wanted him to live with them! Be partners. Oh, god, it wasn't possible!
He did the only thing he could think of. He pinched himself, hard. "OUCH!" He shouted it, involuntarily.
That seemed to ease some of the tension in the room. Kakashi grinned. "No, it's not a nightmare."
Iruka shook his head. "Hardly. I… but…" he frowned. "How does this…would… I mean, you're… were, erm, are, um. That's not how… I mean…" His mouth snapped shut and he closed his eyes a moment. He took a deep breath. "Fuck." He said, very softly.
"I'm not sure I understood what you were getting at, there." Kakashi said, amusement in his voice.
Iruka took a deep breath. He wouldn't have anything if he didn't take a chance, but he had to know for sure what was going on here. He did not want to feel like he'd pushed his way between them, that he'd be the cause for problems. "Look, I want this. Very, very much, but I have to know. How does this affect you? When we… when we made love in Suna, I knew that things between us had changed. But I promised myself that I would not fuck up your relationship with each other, that I wouldn't get between you."
"We talked about this before we asked, Iruka. We learned that lesson already. We're men, and for all of us talking is not at the top of the priority list, especially when it comes to relationships. But Yamato and I wasted a lot of time not talking. Even after we'd admitted loving each other, we beat around the bush."
Yamato sat forward. "And we both decided we don't want to waste that time with you. We love you. Both of us. And no relationship is going to be perfect, whether it involves two or three people. There'll be bumps along the way, but… we think that being able to see you every morning…"
"Falling asleep with you every night. Making love with you…"
"Is worth any bumps we have to deal with." Yamato finished.
"So, the gist of what we're saying here is, we know that our portion of our relationship is able to handle this," Kakashi smiled.
When he still looked unsure, Yamato asked, "Ruka, you love both of us, right?"
Iruka nodded. "Yes."
"So, it's safe to assume that I love both you and Kakashi, right?"
Again, Iruka nodded, seeing where this was going. Could it be that simple? They worry about loving each other. Questions would come up, things would have to be addressed as it would in any relationship. The only difference is that they have one more person to love and be loved.
"Yes." He said, his heart pounding.
"Yes?" Yamato asked.
"Um, sorry. I guess that could have applied to the other question. Yes, I'll… move in. We'll be all together." He looked from one to the other, nervous again. But the nervous looks turned into happy one and the smiles spread across their faces to become huge grins.
The stared at each other a moment, and Iruka couldn't help but blush at the looks on their faces. "Please tell me you're feeling good enough." Yamato said, leaning closer.
Iruka swallowed. "I am. Make…" he glanced at Kakashi, then back at Yamato. "Make love with me."
Both men groaned quietly and nearly attacked him. "God, too long." Yamato said, burying his face in Iruka's hair again. Kakashi went to work on his buttons immediately, while he nibbled on Iruka's neck.
But when it was open, they pulled back. The bruises were still an ugly yellow color. The entire portion of his chest along his lower ribs was covered in them. Both men closed their eyes a moment to get calm down from the sight. "I'm…"
"Don't," Yamato started.
"Apologize," Kakashi finished. "We're too happy you're okay and here with us."
They each took a turn dropping light kisses on the bruises. Then they went back to his lips, each taking time to pour their emotions into him. Their fears, their gladness, their love. All the things that, despite knowing how important it was to talk, things that still couldn't always be said.
They pulled back and Yamato and Kakashi looked at each other. Iruka leaned back on the couch and watched as they, too, kissed each other. He smiled as they got lost in it and he leaned forward to nibble lightly on each neck where it was exposed to him.
They groaned and turned back to him. Iruka worked at the buttons on Kakashi's shirt, wanting them naked. He needed to feel them, wanted to touch. The warm skin, the scars he'd come to know on both.
He'd learned their scents, these men that loved him. Kakashi was misty, almost like a cool rain. Yamato smelled of the forest, a woodsy scent that drew him in. And they knew his. Iruka's faint citrusy scent, warm and welcoming.
And their tastes, God, their taste. Their kisses, the gentle softness when Yamato asked, always so polite. Kakashi, who demanded, didn't give him a chance to question. These men who now belonged to him.
The feel of their bodies. Kakashi picked him up, despite his protests and carried him into their bedroom, dropping him on their bed. Yamato pulled the rest of his clothes off and in no time he felt that skin against his own. They covered him in kisses, in touches, more marks that showed others that he was loved.
And later, when he was buried inside Yamato's body, there was nothing like the sight of his face as he gave this man pleasure. The look in his eyes - the love, the need, the desire - that was for him. Or the feel of Kakashi as he eased into Iruka, filling him up, wrapping his arms around him.
Then they moved together and they really were making love together. They worked to bring their lover, to bring Yamato, that ultimate pleasure, and as he called their names, Iruka felt it, too, falling off the edge, followed right away by Kakashi.
They curled up tightly together, tangled up, almost unsure where one ended and the other began. Lips touched, nibbled, tongues slid as kisses committed in action what a short time ago, they'd managed to finally say with words.
