Oh my god it short. And I hate it. But its better than nothing. I am so stuck with this. HELP. My beta for this left and now I need a new one.
Anyone that isnt afraid to tell me that is sucks and is willing to help is welcome to send me a message. And dont worry about editing things, or writing your own thing in a chapter, I will tell you if its ok or if I don't like it. Almost every beta I've had has worried about that.
Nearly one year later.
Narrator POV
"Sasuke!" Sakura yelled trying to catch up with the raven. She had been trying to find him all day. "Want to grab dinner with me later? Maybe I could cook you something?" she tried. Sasuke had been lass mean to her since he had come back. He had even let her cook for him once right after he got back, to tired to move, much less eat anything.
Sasuke couldn't fathom why he had let her anywhere near his kitchen. It had only made her worse. He wasn't sure if her near constant presents was because the hokage was afraid for his life still, or cause she couldn't tell the love of his life was already dead.
It was almost the anniversary, and Sakura seemed more annoying than usual. Surely the Hokages doing.
Walking past the hokage tower headed home, both where surprised to see the veritable horde of people out front.
"Wonder if something happened." Sakura said. Sasuke kept on walking, not really caring.
"Your not even a little curious what it could be?" she asked.
"No." Sasuke said. His tone not allowing further question.
"Sasuke!" a familiar voice called. Turning back around both where shocked to see Orochimaru coming up to them.
"I'm sorry, I had wanted to see you earlier but I got held up."
"You wanted to see me?"
"Yes. I actually have something for you." he said pulling a scroll out of his pack. "I used to keep close tabs on the Uchiha clan, looking for suitable hosts. So I always had this on hand. Haven't seen it in years though. Found it again going through one of my old libraries."
As he spoke he unrolled the scroll reviling many little holding seals, each with an item inside. Taping a chakra laden hand on the first one, another small scroll pooped out. After rolling the larger one back up he handed the little one to Sasuke.
Sakura and Sasuke both gasped as the scroll was unraveled. Inside was a full portrait of Itachi.
"I was still keeping tabs on him so that one is only a few months old. The rest are more or less the same. The oldest I think was painted three years before death, so they are all pretty accurate. I have the entire clan in that scroll. I thought you should have it though seeing as I obviously don't need it anymore."
It took Sasuke a moment before he could speak past the lump that had formed in his throat.
"Thank you." he managed.
"And a little something for you too." he said pulling a bundle of small pouches tied together. "All the way from the mountain islands of Cyclades."
"Oh my god. You brought me herbs from the Cyclades!?" her eyes wide.
"Not just herbs but seeds and full instructions on how to care for them." he said handing over a small scroll.
"Oh god. Why didn't you give these to Tsunade? Why me?"
"She wont be able to make full use of these. Some require a lot of care and she is too busy for that. Although I was right to think she would like that 50 year old bottle of sake better than the herbs anyway. I could take them back if you don't want them though..."
"NO! I mean; No. I want them." she said quickly, putting them in her ninja pouch.
"I'm glad you like them." he said smiling.
"Why?" Sasuke asked.
"Why what?" Orochimaru asked, confused.
"Why would you go out of your way to bring these things, to a village you hate?" Sasuke clarified.
"I don't hate it." he satiated, startling both Sasuke and Sakura.
"I may not forgive it, but I don't hate it. And you have done nothing to me, that I wasn't glad happened. Killing me was the best thing that anyone could have done for me. And I don't think I ever thanked you for it. I also dont plan on staying here for long."
"Where do you plan on going?" Sakura asked.
"I don't know. Wandering around some more I guess. I want to find a peaceful place to settle, but nothing has spoken to me yet." he answered.
The two nodded in understanding. Suddenly Orochimaru perked up, looking over their shoulders he had spotted Jiraiya.
"I'll see you two later, I still have to give him his gift." he said walking over to the sage. Jiraiya seemed happy to see the snake, and the two walked off into the heart of the village.
Sasuke turned to had home, leaving Sakura behind. Well he tried to anyway. She quickly noticed his absence beside her and began to follow him again, babbling about what he wanted for dinner.
Hi finally got rid of her when he said he wanted something but need to go to the tore for it. Like he thought she immediately offered to get it for him. When he agreed she took off like a thrown senbon. After finally getting rid of her he walked not to his home but to Naruto's old apartment. He had kept it for when he wanted to be alone.
It was almost a year ago that the blond had left them, left him.
Finally in the safety of the small home, he allowed himself to cry, to mourn. Even after a year it had not gotten better. The pain was still so fresh, and sharp. It was all he could do to move himself from the floor to the bed. He eventually fell asleep on the bed that somehow still smelled like his love, tears still staining his face.
