Last Time:
Naruto’s clone winced. They weren’t sure whose side Hiashi would fight for, but if he looked through the byakugan and told Inoichi anything they were in danger ...

“So my mom is safe?” Ino asked anxiously.
“The mind control is broken, but she’s not safe yet.” The Kurenai puppet said clearly concerned about whatever was going on in Konoha. “The Asuma puppet is on its way so-“
Ino sighed, “Yeah, I won’t break it … I don’t see the big deal, though. It was fixed. Just make a few extra.” She said not really caring about the puppets or the poor logic behind her statement.
Naruto sighed from inside the puppet, “If I had unlimited materials that weren’t expensive I would, but unfortunately I don’t. It doesn’t help that the henges need to line up with the correct sized puppet otherwise it’s too easy to dispel. An arm for this Kurenai puppet can’t be used for Asuma since it’s too short, but I could use it to repair a bird. I need to make a lot of repairs on small camera puppets too and since things aren’t interchangeable we have to use them carefully and as needed. In an ideal world I would line up a huge army of cookie cutter puppets and carry them around, but we can’t nor will I ask our sponsor to put themselves at risk by making monthly, and potentially traceable, purchases or deposits for repairs. It’s habits like that where shit goes wrong.”
Hinata frowned, “Well we do carry pieces for minor repairs, but not a full frame, seals and all.”
“Oh …” Ino said feeling guilty about her actions.
Shikamaru put a comforting hand on Ino’s shoulder, “It’s not your fault … Naruto should’ve moved.” He said casually. He knew the attack probably took Naruto by surprise and dodging wouldn’t have helped Ino actually calm down at the time, but even if it kind of worked out ok there was still a consequence. A consequence that Ino shouldn’t feel guilty about.
Kiba pouted, “If Ino’s dad is an asshole who else is? Shikamaru’s dad? My mom? Hinata’s dad?” Kiba noticed Akamaru giving him a warning look and realized he might’ve stepped on a sensitive issue when he saw the sad look on Hinata’s face.
Hinata winced, “We don’t know. Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma were easy to investigate because they lived outside the protection of a clan compound even if they were part of a clan … plus they were allowed to be alone with us. As for everyone else, it's too dangerous to just investigate.”
They all continued jumping through the treetops in silence as the depressing subject lingered in their minds. Who of their own families were on Hiruzen’s side? Who will they have to fight? Who is their ally?

Back in Wave the real Naruto woke up especially early when he sensed someone coming, “It’s just Gaara.” He whispered when he saw Itachi wake up and reach for a kunai.
“Ok.” Itachi commented as he put the sharp weapon away and silently laid back down in his sleeping bag. In a normal situation he would normally share the bed with Yuki, but everyone else was laid out on the floor of the hotel room and he wanted to join them for tonight. It would be a while before he sees his younger brother, who was sleeping next to him, and he had to make the most of it.
Naruto nimbly stepped past all of his sleeping friends and silently went to the door. With a silencing seal on his hand he opened the door and left without waking anyone else. The first thing he did was hug the redhead standing in the hallway. After a moment the two waked off down the halls together in silence.
“How are Temari and Kankuro?” Naruto asked and chuckled as the redhead rolled his eyes.
“They sang off key the last leg of the trip.” Gaara groaned, but smirked for some reason. “They shut up when they realized I led them into this hotel. You should’ve seen their faces when they noticed the staff of a high class hotel was shushing them before they disturbed any of the guests.”
Naruto covered his mouth to keep from laughing too loudly and disturbing those who were still sleeping, “Wish I saw that!” He said between his muffled laughs. “Are they in their room?”
Gaara scoffed, “Quite happily.” Gaara said as they went down the elevator. “Did you seriously get them a deluxe room?”
“Technically Yuki did .” Naruto said casually as they walked out. “I take it they like it?”
The Sand ninja’s lip twitched into a smirk, “So much so that they forgot I was meeting you.” He said as Naruto unsealed two masks and handed him one. When they placed the masks on their hair color both turned black and they walked out the doors of the hotel. “They … they seem to understand what the plan is as far as the plan for Sand …” Gaara let his sentence trail off knowing he didn’t need to explain further.
“Are you sure you are ok with it?” Naruto asked and let the subject go once Gaara nodded without any hesitation. The two ninjas continued through the trees. “If this goes well in Mist we’ll meet up with Orochimaru.”
“Everything has to go as fast and as quietly as possible … do we have any information on any other people working with Madara, Inoichi, Hiruzen and my father? We can’t possibly destroy their grip on things if one word about us gets out.” Gaara said pointedly. It’s one thing to know the leaders of the group, but the minions working under them could unravel everything.
Naruto hummed in thought, “We might have someone who knows.” He said as they dropped down to the river bank where a single red flower grew out of the ground.
It seemed perfectly innocent, but to anyone from Konoha it’s actually a flower that only grows in Konoha after rain. Not only was it in the wrong area, it also hasn’t rained so really the flower shouldn’t be here at all. However, with one hand sign Naruto revealed that it wasn’t real in the first place. The flower, along with a chunk of the river bank, dissolved away as the genjutsu was dispelled.
“I hope you’re right. It’d be nice to take out more of Madara’s allies before he realizes anything.” Gaara muttered as the genjutsu was removed and a submarine floating in the water was revealed. “Quick question … who the hell is going to drive that?” Gaara asked as Naruto jumped onto the water cruising craft.
Naruto shrugged, “I took a couple lessons.”
“Very funny.” Gaara muttered, but Naruto didn’t change his answer. “You are joking, right? We are taking a professional and not taking risks just getting to the war torn ninja village, right?”
The redhead’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance when Naruto just laughed as he jumped into the submarine …

“I’ll answer the door!” Muta said as he raced up the stairs. Many other Aburame members rushed upstairs too just to make everything look like there was nothing wrong.
“You shouldn’t move yet, Shibi.” Naruto’s clone said as he sat with his friend.
Shibi shook his head, “I’m fine. It’s your clones that need to leave-“
“I’d rather he didn’t.” The remaining clones and Shibi turned to see that Tori was awake and staring at the ceiling. “Shibi, I’m sorry-“
“That wasn’t your fault.” Shibi said, clearly refusing to let Tori apologize for what happened. As far as he was concerned his injuries weren’t Tori’s fault.
Tori scoffed, “We’ll discuss fault later … Hiashi isn’t working with Inoichi. If you can write this exact message on the ceiling and you’ll see.” She said and gestured for a clone to help her.

“I hope no one’s hurt.” Hiashi commented as he and Inoichi raced across the rooftops.
Inoichi hummed as he pondered the situation, “No alarms went off … I’m sure it’s not too serious if they didn’t signal for help, but we should check it out anyway. It’s lucky we ran into each other.” Inoichi said genuinely pleased with his luck. “Perhaps you should check to see what the situation is before we get there. Best to be safe, right? Especially if we need to call medics.” Inoichi said pointedly.
Hiashi frowned as he watched the plumes of smoke rising above the trees that surrounded the very compound they were trying to get to, “If the smoke was getting worse I’d agree, but it definitely looks like it has lessened in the last few moments. I can’t really poke around without a good reason … not since that last time.” He grumbled.
“That was unfortunate.” Inoichi muttered not really interested in the conversation.
“My daughter lives at the Nara compound … I had every right to check. I just didn’t know that other Naras were naked and testing ointments at the time.” Hiashi muttered.
Inoichi looked slightly annoyed, but sounded pleasant, “Shikaku was understanding.” He said kindly, but he couldn’t care less.
Yes, it was hilarious when several Naras complained when Hiashi was caught using his byakugan. However, that really wasn’t his concern right now. It was the Aburame family he wanted in order. After all, there’s a reason he used bug spray around his home and why Hiruzen moved the Aburame compound to the far reaches of the village. The insect users just could not be trusted to fall in line. He was suspicious the second they landed in front of the compound door and saw no evidence of smoke. Why hide it from anyone?
Before Inoichi could even knock on the door it flew open revealing an Aburame who wasn't Shibi, “Is everything ok here?” He asked, noticing that even more Aburames were slowly coming up from somewhere in the compound. Every one of them looked like they were covered in ash and, despite still looking as reserved as ever, they looked exhausted.
“Everything is fine here.” Muta said calmly.
Unfortunately, Hiashi didn’t believe that excuse, “I’m sorry, but there was definitely a fire. I’ll at least check the damage.”
Inoichi kept his eyes on the insect users as Hiashi activated his byakugan. As the veins around the pale eyes swelled it looked like the Aburames tensed and Inoichi didn’t like it. The mind walking ninja turned his eyes over to Hiashi and watched for any sign of a reaction.
“What’s wrong?” Inoichi asked the second he saw the Hyuga’s pale eyes widen ever so slightly. If there was even one sign that the insect users have become an enemy then they’d have to be dealt with no matter how useful their insects were. It was a double edge sword keeping them around. Even the Uchiha family and Danzo were removed once they fell out of line so of course the insect users will follow if they make the same mistakes.
Hiashi frowned and tilted his head slightly as if trying to solve a puzzle, “Were you guys making s’mores?” He asked in shock as the veins around his eyes shrank meaning he deactivated the byakugan.
“Huh?” Inoichi spluttered, not expecting that response at all. “S’mores?” He muttered completely dumbfounded as he looked back at the Aburame standing in the doorway.
“No.” Muta said bluntly. “However, by sheer coincidence, we do have a few defective hot plates and lots of toasted marshmallows if anyone wants some.” He said kind of implying that something like that might have happened. It was safe to assume that the Hyuga saw enough and something made Hiashi provide an excuse instead of saying anything potentially damning to Inoichi. Muta took the chance and played along.
Inoichi raised an eyebrow, “Sure, couldn’t you have done a campfire outside.”
“We have hives. Fire and hives don’t go well together.” Muta said bluntly.
The mind user inwardly scowled, “Ah … ok, so is anyone hurt?”
“No people were harmed.” Muta said, making it sound like there were victims, but it was mainly the hot plates.
“Good. I guess we’ll leave you to it.” Inoichi said as he turned to leave, but he paused and looked back at Hiashi who was not about to follow him.
Hiashi glanced at the puzzled mind walker and shrugged, “I’m in the mood for a s’more.” He said and waved casually as Inoichi left. After Inoichi was out of sight he went inside the compound and, without any guidance, went straight down the stairs with a few Aburames following close behind.
Once Hiashi got down to the basement he saw the bugs on the ceiling spelling out the words ‘Let Me Explain’ backwards in big letters and a very naked Tori in Shibi’s lap.
“Quit giving me that look, Hiashi.” Tori said tiredly when she saw the look of disapproval on the Hyuga’s face.
Hiashi’s eyebrow twitched violently, “You’re naked and in Shibi’s lap-“
“So what? Did you think the fires started because of our fiery passion or something?” Tori said dryly and smirked when Hiashi suddenly looked sheepish.
The Naruto clones came out from the dark side of the room, “Don’t say that around Kakashi. He might try lighting a fire that way.” One clone chuckled before they noticed that Hiashi was looking at them in shock.
“Naruto? When did you …” Hiashi trailed off as he tried to decide if he saw the blondes with his byakugan earlier or if they just appeared there.
Naruto’s clones deadpanned, “You were right. He really didn’t pay attention to anything after seeing you naked.” The clones mumbled.
“Oh Hiashi. You’re so easy.” Tori snickered as Muta and one of the clones helped her back to the bed, which was swapped out for a less crispy version by the other Aburames.
The Hyuga scoffed, but then he finally saw how injured Shibi was as the insect user was helped up and frowned, “Can someone please explain?”
