The final chapter guys! Although don't pout; there will be a little surprise at the end of the chapter. For now though; enjoy this and thank you so much for showing me so much support through this. Especially you Smint; I really appreciate it . Last chapter; get ready for some tears and heavy, heavy angst! ------------------------ Blue eyes blinked open slowly, dazed and confused as they observed the white room around them. Minato groaned in irritation; he felt sick, fatigued and something kept telling him that he had to get to Naruto. But why? Naruto was still next to him, fast asleep as he always was. "Minato?" That voice was too deep to be Naruto's, fear trickling up his spine and he jerked upwards; his heart now beating wildly in his chest. The fog that had settled over his mind finally dissipating and guilt to build in his chest. Determination shimmered in blue eyes; his senses already searching for his beloved. "Yondaime-sama? How are your wounds?" Minato cringed; blue eyes finally locking onto the small frog sitting next to his futon. He had barely noticed the bandages covering his body and how - when he moved - pain would flash through his body. His fingers itched before he yanked the covers from his body; not caring if he was dressed in mere sleep pants and covered in numerous bandages. He didn't have time to talk, didn't have time to look for comfort. He needed to find Naruto now! "Yondaime-sama!" Minato cringed at Bunta's warning voice but he would not listen; blue eyes flashing up in determination and a warning. Daring the large toad to so much as try and keep him there; an understanding seemed to pass between them and Minato gave a little node before giving a wave over his shoulder. "I'm no longer the Hokage; in fact Konoha doesn't exists. Stop being so damn formal!" Minato yelled as he tracked the marking he had placed on Naruto's body mere hours ago - or days; Minato had no idea how long he had been out but for now that didn't matter. He could feel a small spike of chakra that was warm against skin and tickled his senses; he felt more relaxed now as he felt Naruto's spike in chakra. His beloved was still alive; he placed a hand over his beating heart, feeling the resonating emotions as his chakra responded to Naruto and the small connection they shared resonated the emotions that he felt. Naruto was calm, almost too calm but Minato knew he was still alive; even if he was in a deep sleep. His Naruto was alive; desperately he wanted weep tears of joy but merely sniffled a bit as he walked through the tropical area of the toad village, blue eyes taking in the fresh air, large plants. Minato berated himself; he needed to get to his beloved. Wincing when his sudden movement, with the aid of chakra made a wound open again but Minato was pushing it away easily; there was only one thing on his mind and that was to get to Naruto where Minato knew he was needed as much as he needed his beloved himself. "Minato-sama?" Blue eyes frowned at the smaller version of a large slug he had once known as Tsunade's summons. "How is he?" Minato rasped; the colour draining from his face as he observed Naruto laying on a futon, wrapped in bandages and looking nearly as white as the sheets wrapped around his bare torso. Minato felt his breath hitch; Naruto's chest was barely rising with his breaths and once tanned skin looked sickly in colour. Those fox ears were twitching slightly but Naruto was in a deep coma; the nine fox tails splayed around him but dead still. Just as his chest was nearly still with small, panting breaths. "Yondaime-sama; it doesn't look good. It's been two days since he has been brought in but he is still unstable; we've nearly lost him four times. His body can't take much more and I don't know if I can do anymore than I have already did."Minato felt his heart stop; ignoring the shouts of several medical frogs and Katsuyu. Minato merely stepped forward; plopped himself down next to Naruto. Taking a slack hand in his; fingers brushing across the flesh lovingly before twining their fingers together. The sorrow he felt building in his heart was overwhelming; tears came unbidden to his eyes before spilling over onto his cheeks. "Oh Naruto; what have you done?" He said brokenly; his heart was now in a million pieces as his hope was crushed. Naruto looked so close to death that even Minato doubted that his beloved would live for more than a day. "Leave us." Minato said softly; he wanted to be alone with Naruto. Not with so many eyes trained on him and his beloved. "But Minato-sama Naruto is..." "I said leave! You yourself said there was nothing more you can do! I want to be alone with my son; leave us be." ------------------------------- "Yo; Naruto. It's been a while hasn't it?" Naruto jerked at the voice; his body felt so light but heavy at the same time. He was feeling uneasy and yet one glance at the figure sitting on a large rock formation, beneath the imposing figures of the Shodaime and Madara made his heart leap to his throat. White hair, loosened from that harsh tie splayed in wind in a shower of white. Naruto stepped forward; the wind caressed his skin and the spray of water from the waterfall was cold against his skin and suddenly it became easier to breathe. It wasn't until now that Naruto noticed his breath had been laboured and filled with pain. "Ero-Sennin?" A rich chuckle invaded his hearing and Naruto felt his tense body relax in this man's presence. It was the first man to become like a father to him for the father he had never had as a child; he was also the man that meant the world to him just beneath his beloved father Minato. Where was Minato anyways? Wasn't he supposed to be by his side? "How many times do I have to tell it's Jiraiya-sama to you; gaki!" The sudden outburst from Jiraiya made Naruto flinch before he chuckled heartily; that was the Jiraiya he knew and loved. "I heard you visited Sasuke not long ago; he was upset because you didn't stay. Such a free spirit you possess Naruto; it makes all of us very jealous that we can't flit between two worlds so easily." Naruto frowned; when had he visited Sasuke? He couldn't remember. The only thing he did remember was killing his best friend with his own hands not long after gaining control over Kyuubi... "Don't frown so much gaki; you're giving me worry lines." The elderly Sannin chuckled at his own joke before turning towards Naruto; suddenly serious black eyes locked with confused blue. Fingers beckoning Naruto closer and Naruto obeyed; his heart was still beating fast and his blood was rushing in his ears loudly. "You don't remember do you?" Naruto shook his head in denial. He really didn't remember. "I thought you would never forget; you still bare the scars of that incident. Such unnecessary scars borne from an eternity of sadness; Naruto." Naruto stilled; images flashing before his eyes in a series of events that left his heart shattering. Remembering what he had done to Minato that night... "Tell me Naruto; do you remember what he told you?" Naruto nodded. Jiraiya had probably guessed that he had caught a hold of the memory. "'If you don't know what you're doing here Naruto; then you don't belong here yet.'" Naruto recited the words softly; they alone made his heart shatter. Sasuke had told him that and to Naruto it made sense now; is that why he felt so light and happy now? No something more dark was brewing beneath the surface of his heart. Yet; something kept telling him that someone very important was missing from this reunion. A flash of blue eyes, a gentle smile and many erotic nights spent together made Naruto whine at the pain that shattered his heart over and over again. A gentle hand settled on his shoulder; black eyes looking at him with unconditional love and affection. "Tell me Naruto; what're you doing here?" Naruto cringed; he felt a tear slip onto his cheeks. He didn't want to be here; he didn't want to be anywhere where Minato wasn't. A broken sob escaped his lips; he was really dead wasn't he? Leaving Minato behind to hate him because he had finally left the world behind. "I'm dead aren't I?" Naruto croaked. His body feeling heavy with guilt. "Ah; so you found the right answer Naruto. So the question is really - do you want to be here?" Naruto shook his head in denial. No he didn't. He wanted to be with Minato. If Minato had promised to never leave him then shouldn't it only be fair that he return the favour? But Naruto also felt an obligation to stay with the people he had abandoned many hundreds of years ago. He really did belong here... "Mah, Naruto! You are too compassionate." Naruto turned tearful blue eyes - fox ears pulled to his head in his sadness - to stare at the figure leaning against the cliff wall; a very distinctive orange book held in lazy fingers. "He's right you know." A gentle voice announced and Naruto looked up at the shadow that fell over him. Eyes raking over a scarred nose with spiky hair bound at the top of a head. Gentle fingers carded through his hair in affection and Naruto purred softly before leaning into the touch; it had been so long since Iruka had offered him comfort. Nine fox tails swaying lazily around him as Naruto calmed at the touches. "Be selfish for once Dobe; we'll still be here the next time you come around." Blue eyes widened at the sight of Sasuke now holding out a hand for him to take. Was the Uchiha Ice Prince offering to help him to his feet? Naruto was stunned; he deserved none of the kindness he was being shown. "B-but I killed you all!" Naruto shouted suddenly; pulling at his hair frantically. His fox ears flattened against his head and his tails whipped around him in the sudden guilt that settled over him in a wave of emotional turmoil. "Tsk, tsk. Naruto. Fate happened; you should know the power of fate. You are after all bound inexplicably with the one you love more than anything in the world. He's waiting for you; you know. Do you really want to stay here whilst his heart breaks for you?" "I..." Deep down Naruto knew that Jiraiya was right. Naruto knew he couldn't leave Minato alone. For both their sanity, they needed each other to live. Naruto had an inkling feeling that Minato would take his own life if Naruto was dead; just like Naruto had snapped mere months ago after telling his father the entire truth of his existence. "Naruto;" Kakashi's hand now settled in his hair, scratching behind his fox ears and making a purr spill from his lips. "You've lived a long, difficult life. Filled with pain, hate and guilt. We've watched you; how you flourished in your artistic side. Changed the world with education and cutting away the dangers of the Shinobi world. All, whilst suffering the biggest loss of your life. Your heart. Don't let Minato-sensei down; Naruto. I'm happy to see you two find the love that you deserve, go to him. He needs you more than we do." Naruto nodded but his decision was made for him when a strong hand harshly pushed him backward and toppling off the cliff and into the freezing water below. The waterfall nearly drowning him completely before he moved away. Naruto struggled to fill his lungs with air and on top of his difficulty to take a breath; his mind was getting hazy with pain. Even with his blurred vision Naruto could see the smirk on Sasuke's lips; somehow Naruto knew it was him that had pushed him away again. Why did he still feel so cold? So disoriented and his body was wracking with waves of pain. Naruto's last thought before the abyss swallowed him whole was that he was going to get Sasuke back one of these days... ~ Naruto's body was floating; pain clouding his mind. A shuddering breath filled his lungs; fox ears twitching. Following the sounds that bounced around him. Naruto became aware of a warm hand settled in his and he keened softly; fox tails immediately curling around his waist and around the person whose hand was laying in his. Even through the fog of pain that made every breath difficult to take; Naruto felt his chakra resonate with Minato's. Who else would be beside him in the middle of the night? Blue eyes fluttered open and Naruto sighed in relief when the harsh darkness of the room made his pounding headache ease a bit. The soft sounds of chirping crickets and Minato's even breaths told him that it was deep into the night. "Minato?" Naruto whispered brokenly; his throat felt raw but Naruto wanted his beloved to look at him with those loving blue eyes. Naruto had the sudden urge to curl into himself; images of his torture flashing before his unseeing eyes. Naruto sobbed softly; conflicted in himself. Should he pull away from Minato or stay with him? Fear flashed through him; whimpering slightly as the moonlight spilled in from the window. The image all too familiar; the moon looked too much like the place where Madara had had his way with him... 'Please; don't let me live through that again.' Naruto begged his subconscious; pain making his vision black out for a few seconds as he moved away from his beloved. His heart was broken and his mind was scattered and to Naruto the sudden fear he felt washing over him was making his head spin out of control. Even if he kept telling himself that Minato wasn't the one who had done those things to him; Naruto felt afraid. Blue eyes fogged in tears; desperately trying to shut out those images and yet they kept returning; more clear than ever before. Stained in so much blood and filth. Where was Kyuubi when he needed him? Where was Minato's gentle whispers and touches when he needed them? So broken; so much guilt and fear. Naruto was taking in shuddering breaths; his heart stuttering in his chest and a strangled scream escaped parted lips. Should it have been better to stay with Jiraiya -sensei and the others? A warm, comforting body settled over him immediately and Naruto sobbed softly into the thin material of Minato's shirt. Why wasn't he afraid of Minato? After everything Madara had done to him; why wasn't he afraid? He should have stayed dead. Sorrow filled his heart but somehow he drew comfort from his beloved. "I've got you Naruto; hush. Take a deep breath;" Naruto did as he was told. Through a very slow process he managed to clear the fluid in his lungs and take a proper breath; immediately the scent of Minato flitted in his nose and even though Naruto felt the world swimming in and out of consciousness he relaxed. Submitting to Minato again; his emotions pushed to the back of his mind where he would face them together with his beloved at the right time. "M-Minato..." Naruto breathed; his emotional turmoil fading after a while. He was simply now enjoying the closeness of his father; his tails winding around Minato's waist to reassure himself that this was real and Minato wouldn't disappear again. Leave him alone and broken... "Naruto. Thank Kami! I was so worried! It's been five days! Naruto; don't you ever do that again. You hear me? I will kill you myself if you put me through this again. I cannot take the pain of loosing you. Naruto; my Naruto. Please stay with me forever. I love you more than anything in this world! I, I can't..." Naruto's tried to lift his hand to wipe away at the tears he saw shimmering in beautiful blue eyes; blue eyes that were overflowing with love for him and him alone. He failed miserably and had to try twice until he managed it; immediately snapping Minato's attention to him. "Daddy; you're babbling. I'll try my best but I cannot promise much." Naruto admitted. Huffing in pain when Minato's weight became a little too much for his wounds. "What am I going to do with you?" The chuckle that spilled from Naruto's lips made pain lance through him and tears build in the corner of his eyes. That simple statement meant the world to him. It meant that things had not changed between them and never will. "You c-can;" Naruto coughed harshly but he wanted to say this; reassure Minato that nothing had changed and to placate his own doubts and fears. "A-always undress me, tie me to the bed and have your wicked way with me." Naruto chuckled brokenly; even when he knew it would be days; even weeks before he got over the new fear that had settled in his heart. His deep blush mirrored Minato's own and Naruto wanted to laugh at Minato's expression but only allowed a few chortles to escape him. That was all he could manage in his injured state. "Naruto!" Was Minato's incredulous response to Naruto's callous words. ----------------------------------- "Naruto-sensei? Will you come and play with me?" Naruto sighed softly; fingers flying over the harps strings and gave a small indulgent smile to Kakashi. He had promised to play ninja with Kakashi a few hours ago but truthfully Naruto knew that Kakashi only wanted to play with his tails and see what Naruto could do with them; like pick Kakashi up in several tails and throw him through the air before catching him again. So much time had passed since he and Minato had faced off against that monster and Naruto's healing process was slow and painful; filled with a river of tears and harsh screams into the night. But Naruto felt relieved; as if a new breath of life had been given to him. He felt forgiven for his sins... "Naruto-sensei; please! Pakkun will be joining us too!" Naruto sighed; fingers tracing the hitai-ate around his neck. Never once was he without it; it was a promise between him and Minato. Minato would wear his hitai-ate as Naruto wore his; the promise to never be separated again. To not be blinded by the joy of their relationship and to miss the little dangers that could rip them apart again. "Yo; Naruto-Kitsune!" Naruto glared at the pug that was now settled on his shoulder, pawing at his ear and making it pull flat against his head. "Alright, alright! But promise not to tell Minato I was outside; he would kill me if he found out that I disobeyed his orders." Naruto whined as he stood up; black boots clacking on the floor as he headed for the large backyard. Pakkun's footsteps following behind him just as Kakashi tugged at his hand. Naruto had weak lungs after the incident and often found himself gasping for breath - the reason Minato was now so protective of him - but that was not going to stop him from enjoying the rest of his life spent in the arms of his beloved where they would do everything together. "Naruto! What have I told you about going outside without me present?" Naruto flinched at Minato's fierce words; had he been hiding around that corner the whole time? Naruto stopped dead in his tracks; he had crossed a line that Minato had laid and that night he knew what was coming - knowing he was going to be punished. He chuckled; anticipation curling in his stomach as arousal clambered up his spine. Minato was such a good father... "Yes Daddy." Naruto purred as he streaked passed Minato; a single fox tail teasingly swiping across Minato's ass. He didn't look back as he followed Kakashi; knowing that blue eyes were trained on his ass and swaying tails as little plans formed in that brilliantly perverted mind that could have him screaming for hours on end... For Naruto every moment spent close to those important to him was all he ever needed. ----------------------------------- I hope you Duckies enjoyed! That's it for Kuro Ran!
