Danzo scowled, “This is ridiculous … we would’ve found something at this point if she was here.” He glowered as his recruits finished disposing of another dead Stone ninja. “Time is running out. We’ll be noticed if we stay much longer-“ A kunai that was thrown at him was blocked by one of his ROOT agents. “Shit!” He screamed just before the hideout place was swarmed by stone ninjas.
“Danzo-sama! Run!” A ROOT agent yelled in a panic before being cut down by a Stone ninja.
Of course, Danzo immediately took off to save his own skin, “How the hell did they know? The trail should’ve lead them away from here and into the trap first! We should’ve been warned!” Danzo growled furiously.
It was the very strategic trap he used so many times before without any problems. He places his army or team on one side of the village, but creates a trail leading the village occupants away and into an alarm seal. In fact, the Stone ninjas should’ve been lead by the tracks and body parts to the opposite side of the village. The Stone ninjas should’ve tripped the alarm seal there. Those from Konoha should’ve had ample time to get away. It was the perfect plan so what went wrong?!
While traveling in the direction that will get him back to the safety of Konoha he was joined one by one as the few surviving ROOT agents joined him. However, after only three days of travel the group ran into someone else. Someone bloodied a weak, but despite the injuries was still very recognizable.
“Hiruzen?” Danzo‘s eyes narrowed. In his mind there were two things that could’ve happened to explain all of this.
One: Hiruzen betrayed him and sold him out to Stone, but his remaining ROOT agents in Konoha discovered it and attacked him.
Two: Something happened back in Konoha and it lead to Hiruzen needing to get away.
While the first possibility wasn’t likely because it wasn’t as refined as a backstabbing could be there was always that chance. Hiruzen was capable in very effective betrayals. Danzo knew if the man wanted him dead it’d be much cleaner. However, the timing with this and the incident with Stone were too perfect to not be connected and only Hiruzen knew his tactics. Since there wasn’t a clear answer he decided to cautiously assist his friend even though betrayal was still very much a possibility. After all, it was more useful to hold a knife behind your back as you heal a potential backstabber over just killing a potential ally.
Hiruzen fell to his knees in front of Danzo, “I found you … Konoha isn’t safe … Jiraiya-“ The Sarutobi started coughing up blood not aware of Danzo’s suddenly very paled features. Of course, Hiruzen wasn’t surprised to see his ally’s horror when he did finally notice. “Yeah … Jiraiya knows, we can’t go back.”
All the weight of the situation hit Danzo so hard that he too ended up on the ground, “How the hell did this happen?” Suddenly, it made sense. Orochimaru might’ve told Jiraiya his tactics before the snake sage was murdered.
“It came out of nowhere… I never even knew he was in the village or about the rebels …” Hiruzen groaned in pain as he thought back.
Flashback
There was an eerie silence in the hokage tower, but Hiruzen just desperately buried his head in his paperwork to ignore it. He knew what that silence meant. It was the precursor right before another wave of ghostly terror. This time he could hear the steps leading to his door, but just tensed not daring to look up at terrifying Minato ghost that has been terrorizing him for months now.
“Sensei! How’s it going?”
The homage hesitated almost positive the voice of Jiraiya was being used to trick him into making eye contact with the ghosts intent on driving him mad, but he eventually did look up. “Jiraiya?” He blinked. The form of the toad sage didn’t change into a gory Minato ghoul or bloody wraith like demon the second he saw it so he let himself breathe a relieved sigh. “It’s really you.” The non stop torment and lack of sleep made him forget why Jiraiya being anywhere near the village with dead Minato and Kushinas running around was actually quite bad.
Jiraiya grinned, “Yeah! I saw you had a weird problem going on here and I happen to know who’s responsible-“
“You do?! Please stop it!” Hiruzen begged actually throwing himself at the toad sage not noticing Jiraiya stiffen in disgust at being so close.
“I could. I found the center. I know the person’s seal work. I know the person’s chakra and I tested the blood used in the seal … the person who did it. It was Minato.” Hiruzen felt several spikes pierce his flesh. If the old hokage didn’t have the reflexes he would’ve been speared many more times and would be dead. He stumbled back coughing up blood and realized that Jiraiya had used his hair juts to stab him. The old hokage‘ s eyes went from the white spikes of hair dripping with his own blood to the toad sage’s hate filled eyes.
“Tell me, sensei. How is it that Minato’s blood, chakra and seal work would be used to make a seal that is only just over a year old when you claimed he died 16 years ago?” Hiruzen winced as he backed away from his old student to get to the window. His attempt to escape through the window was stopped when Shibi and Tsume stood on the sill to block the window once he threw it open. “Well, sensei? How is it possible unless Minato is alive? Of course if he is then everything these ghosts said was true and Minato survived an assassination attempt. ” Jiraiya glared down at his former sensei.
The hokage heard a faint echo of Jiraiya’s voice and paled. They were transmitting everything being said in this office. There was no telling how many people heard what Jiraiya said, but it didn’t matter. There was no doubt that he was in danger, but it only got worse.
Shibi‘ s eyes narrowed behind his frames, “We found out about your labs and how you framed Orochimaru. You and Danzo have been experiencing on all of our clans for years. It ends.”
Hiruzen wasn’t fatally wounded, but he knew he couldn’t get away. A swarm of insects, Tsume’s pissed off dog partner next to her and Jiraiya’s chakra infused hair advanced on him. The intense pain soon followed. Insects bite his flesh and infiltrated his wounds causing even more harm as the dog’s fangs sank into his arm to rip away the flesh. Unfortunately for Jiraiya, only one hardened spike of his hair managed to spear Hiruzen’s chest just as the floor below them actually crumbled, but due Hiruzen dropping down into the hole at the same time the intended fatal blow was too shallow to kill.
“Dammit!” Jiraiya snapped as he jumped back as the floor collapsed allowing Hiruzen to drop into the arms of several unknown anbu.
“ROOT agents! We need back up!” Tsume screamed ...
Flashback Over
“I barely got away. Of course, Jiraiya and many others chased after me, but your agents stayed back to stall. None of your men who got me away came back. Konoha isn’t safe.” Hiruzen grunted in pain as one of Danzo’s remaining men wrapped his wounds.
“Not just Konoha. Stone found me and if they contacted every village we stole people from to experiment on then we have to get the hell out of the Elemental Nations now- … wait … the demon!” Danzo growled angrily.
Hiruzen scowled, “Forget the slut. We have bigger-“
Danzo glared, “Shut up! The rebels might have sent us to Stone by manipulating the reports on Team 7’s death. I don’t know, but what I do know is that if Minato is somehow behind this and everything just happened to fall apart after we sent the demon bitch to Magnolia then that could be where they are.”
“Your point?” Hiruzen sneered. He was too tired to give a flying fuck about the girl. “At this point getting her back won’t change anything. We’re busted, every ninja village probably wants our heads and we’re both are exhausted. We need to run and hide not hunt her down-“
You’re not thinking! Fiore is outside of the Elemental Nation so we’d be safe there or at least would be able to hide since no one knows the area. Now, remember why we had to remove Minato?” Danzo asked.
“He learned about his family and the accounts that were rightfully his. When it was discovered he was going to run away I had him killed .... well he looked dead to me.” An annoyed Hiruzen muttered.
“Exactly! He must have everything! While we’re in Fiore we’ll go to Magnolia and capture the demon to force Minato to give us everything including the deed to his land.” Danzo exclaimed.
Hiruzen’s eyes widened, “The sealed off Namikaze land … we’d be safe even from Jiraiya, but Minato would kill us the second he can not to mention all those from Konoha and any other village we have to cross to get to that land.”
“Yeah.” Danzo pondered a moment before shrugging. “We’ll have to keep her as a hostage until we’re behind the gates … maybe just keep her for fun.” A cruel sneer came to his face as considering taking out all his anger on Naruko …

Jiraiya scowled as he glared at the last dead ROOT agent he cut down only to find that Hiruzen got away, “I’m going to hunt him down-“
“I agree they should be found, but we should at least help arrange something before we leave. We are missing a hokage after all.” Hiashi stated matter of factory.
Tsume nodded and looked at Jiraiya, “You’re the highest ranked ninja left in Konoha. You have to-“
“Shibi! You’re in charge!” Jiraiya yelled as he raced away.
Shibi sighed, “He’s ditched.”
“Yep!” Tsume shrugged. “I kind of agree though. You did do a lot to get the rebels together.”
Shibi frowned, “Perhaps, but I wanted to do more than lay some eggs in Hiruzen.” Tsume raised an eyebrow at that comment. “Come on. Let’s go get Hiashi and get the village together before sending out more people to assist Jiraiya.”

Grey finally pulled Lucy off Loki who was not regaining consciousness, “He’s has enough! What’s with you? Why are you in a rush to get back?”
“If we don’t get you two back to Naruko she may die!” Lucy yelled.
“Oh really?” Both Grey and Natsu, with respective ice and fire forming around their fists, quickly and violently went about waking Loki up ...

Naruko smiled not caring about changing in front of Gajeel, Laxus, Jellal and Elfman especially when it made them blush, “You guys ok?” She asked with a seductive purr as she slowly removed her corset. Thankfully, Minato and Gajeel’s black exceed, Lily, left to give them some alone time during their camping. Well Sin willingly left while Minato sulked at losing control of the familiar and was unwillingly dragged away from his daughter.
“Yes …” A breathless blushing Jellal gasped. Almost in a trance he pulled Naruko gently into his lap. No one noticed, but as he ran his fingers through her hair proceeding a kiss the red tips in her hair flaked away ...
