Mornings and Promises

Naruto sat on the side of Shion’s bed while she continued to cry into his chest, as he held her close trying to calm the young priestess.
“Naruto... WH-why?” the young woman sobbed.
“To hurt you, they want to try and force you to take your own life, because they can’t get to you directly.
Just like me and many of my friends and their families, you are a target and very existence is a threat to them, it’s because we are different and can do things they can’t.” Naruto explained.
“But my people were innocent, why-why did they have to attack the civilians, just to get to me, I’m no one.” The young woman sobbed again.
“It’s alright Shion-Chan, I have you. You’re going to be ok now; I will protect you just like I promised.”
“How is it going to be ok? I have nothing left, most of my people are dead, my home, my village, everything that once belonged to my mother is gone.” She wailed into his chest.
“You still have me, our friends her in Konoha, we are all here for you Shion-Chan.
Now I don’t know the details, just that your village was attacked, you said most of your people are dead so that means some of them are still alive right?” He asked with a hopeful tone.
“T-there are only a few hundred people left from my village, thirty percent of them survived.”
“See that’s not so bad, some of your people survived the attack and they are going to look to you for support and leadership to help them rebuild their lives. While it really, really sucks that they are the only ones that did survive, at least they did.
So are you and your people going to rebuild your village or something?”
“No, we have nothing left to rebuild with, they caused a rock slide after the attack preventing anyone from being able to rebuild, but with so few of us we became refugees and have to be assimilated into another village.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry Shion-Chan; I guess that means you will be living in the Dragon village then?”
“No, Daiki-Sama said that he did not believe our place was within his village, but he did name one that might have been willing to accept us.” She said with a blush.
“Oh? So I guess I will have to try and visit you in your new home, so what village did the old man recommend to you?”
Shion just sighed into his chest as she slowly began to relax.
“You really are an Idiot you know that? Daiki-Sama recommended Konoha and the Hokage accepted the proposal. She also said any of my guards that wish to do so may join the police force after they receive enhanced training.
She also embraced the idea of having a priestess in the village not just for my abilities but also to show that Konoha is open to different beliefs and ideals.”
Naruto began to chuckle as he too began to relax.
“Shion-Chan, I’m glad that you will become a part of our village.
It means I will get to see you as much as we both want and that’s something I would really like. So even after all of this, do you feel better now even though it still sucks?”
“Yes, but I feel empty, that all I have is to live for my people, that there is nothing truly here for me.”
“I don’t know about that, what do you think Amaru-Chan?” Naruto glanced off to the side where he could just make out the feminine figure of the young medic.
“H-how did you know I was there?” She asked stepping into the limited light.
“Simple, my senses have been enhanced because of the merge; right now I would stand on par with an Inuzuka when using chakra to enhance their senses.
I could hear and smell you when you came into the room, but you still have to answer my question Amaru-Chan. Do you think Shion-Chan has nothing in this village?
Seeing as how close the two of you have become and you didn’t react hostilely towards my suggestions after we had dinner together.”

“Besides, Shion-Chan I still have to help you with something now don’t I?”
The young priestess in his arms looked up at him, her eyes wide in shock and hope, and a small smile starting to spread across her face.
“Y-you mean, you want to...” Shion couldn’t finish her sentence as her face began to redden.
“Shion-Chan, I knew exactly what you were asking me to do for you, the only reason I didn’t help you pass on your abilities to the next generation as you called it, was because at the time, the Akatsuki was still after me and the other Jinchuuriki.
They would have used anyone and anything to get to me, most of all if I had a wife and child.
But now I see that there will always be another Akatsuki or some other bastard out there, and that if I keep worrying about what is around the next corner, I will never be able to actually have a family.”
“A-are you saying, that you w-want to m-m-marry me?” Shion asked as her breathing began to quicken.
Naruto noticed out of the corner of his eye, Amaru looking down towards the ground dejectedly, a single tear falling down her face.
“Actually Shion-Chan, I was thinking of something different, but I won’t get into that right now, I will just say that what I am thinking of proposing is going to be really complicated and some people won’t be happy, but I hope it can be worked out and make a lot of people happy at the same time.”
Naruto then reached out his hand to the young medic and held them both to him in a firm hug.
“You know that the two of you are very important to me, I want you to always remember that no matter what, you have a very special place in my heart.”

Naruto started to stand up when both girls looked at him with questioning expressions.
“It’s getting late, I really should let the two of you get some sleep, Its going to be one hell of a busy day tomorrow.”

“Yeah, I can do that and I promise to be a perfect gentlemen, I want to wait until I have everything dealt with before anything interesting happens.
Were not in any rush right?”
Both women smiled up at him as they both lay down leaving the middle open, he began to remove his jumpsuit until he was only left in his boxers, turning around he could see both women gawking at him.

After getting dressed, the three headed towards the dining room, both girls holding on to one of Naruto’s arms as they talked.
“So Naruto-Kun, what do you have to do today?” Amaru asked in a sweet sounding voice.
“Well, first I have to see Kakashi-Sensei about some things, after I have finished with him, I will try and find one of the Dragon warriors because I have some questions for them.
After that, it will depend on what the road brings me.” He answered with a grin.
As they continued down the hall, Naruto noticed that the current guards appeared to be more lively, something in them had changed, as if they had been filled with new hope and purpose in life.
He looked at one of them and recognized him as the one that was at the door, the man clearly fighting a smile on his face.
‘This is kind of ... odd, either they think something happened between me and Shion-Chan, or he told the other guards what I said.’ Naruto thought to himself.
‘Maybe it’s both kid, knowing that their priestess has someone with her that can protect her and if someone threatens her, could rip them apart and shit down their neck without breaking a sweat, not to mention being romantically involved with her is the best combination they could ever want.” Kurama noted in their mind.
‘Heh, I guess you are right, I would rip anyone apart that tried to hurt her, or the others that mean so much to me.’
Once they opened the dining room door, there on a large table was every possible breakfast meal you could have wanted.
Rice porridge, deep fried tofu, fermented soybeans, boiled fish, several fruits, bacon, rolled-omelets, toast and dozens other servings of food.
Shion quickly guided them to the table as she began to fill a plate with the food she desired.

Kaemon stood inside Tsunade’s office holding a clipboard with several papers on it looking at a stunned Hokage and blushing Shizune.
“You are absolutely sure about the results of these tests?” the blond woman asked.
“Yes we are, each of us performed independent tests in different labs with different members of your medical staff, and our results are identical.” The red masked man answered.
“So Naruto’s primal chakra, as you called it, has not only infected their bodies but is also affecting their minds in such a way that it has put them in this condition.
Are you absolutely sure about the methods of treatment? Even if there is a slight chance that it won’t work I will not subject them to such acts.”
“Tsunade, these are the only options. If he does not treat them personally, not only could they be driven mad by their brains being flooded with every hormone the body is able to produce, but could also overload the brain as well, that is assuming their hearts do not explode.
Our seals on them have only reduced the effects by about fifty percent, as we stand here they are still suffering in pain because of this.
The best option is for him to treat them, the other alternatives will take years to purge their bodies of the chakra, but it could also mean that their lives as talented members of Konoha’s shinobi forces will end.”
“There really isn’t any choice Tsunade-Sama, Naruto-Kun must provide the treatment or we could lose three very talented individuals.
Although I don’t think he would mind, administering the treatment to the three of them.” Shizune said with a dreamy smile on her face.
The raven haired woman’s comment didn’t go unnoticed by the others in the room as Kaemon raised an eye at her comment and Tsunade gave a knowing smile.
“We will have to discuss this with them as well as their parents, in the girl’s current state of mind, I wouldn’t exactly trust their ability to respond and it would take care of any possible legal issues.” Tsunade said leaning back in her chair.
“I shall summon the families Tsunade-Sama, but how will we transport the girls?”
“I and my team can handle that, we will place them in a semiconscious state for transport, then wake them once we arrive in your office.
I do believe that the seals will keep them relatively coherent, but they will be easily
distracted due to their...condition.”
“Kaemon, I am truly grateful for the assistance you and your clan has given us, you made an incredible donation to our villages reconstruction efforts, helped save one of our villagers from an enemy we didn’t even know we had.
You also helped to save someone very special to me and now you are doing it again, yet a part of me feels ashamed that we have to rely on outsiders for assistance, but I will never turn you down if you ever need any your selves. Thank you for everything you have done.”
The masked man gave the blond Hokage a long respectful bow then disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Naruto sat inside Ichiraku ramen stand slowly eating a bowl, he was disappointed to see that Ayame wasn’t in today, but the old man was more than enough company for him.
“So old man, how has the new stand been treating you? Getting more business than before?” Naruto asked as he blew on some noodles.
“Yes, with the extra space we have been able to feed more people at a time and it’s increased our profits by more than half of what it used to be.
But honestly, I just like seeing the satisfied look on a customer’s face when they have finished a meal.”
Naruto gave the man a nod in understanding, when he heard the bell chine signaling that a new person had entered the shop, he smiled and without looking called out to the new patron.
“You are actually on time, eh Kakashi-Sensei, I could always count on you when it really mattered.”
The white haired Jounin smiled under his mask as he sat next to his former student.
“And I always knew that I could depend on you when your friends are in danger, especially after our first C rank mission after you saved me from Zabuza.
Which brings me to why we are here now, but I need you to give me your word that you will let me finish what I am about to tell you and not fly off on your own before I’m done.”
“Kakashi-Sensei, you are dealing with the real me now and because a lot of my friends are in possible danger, I don’t intend to do anything foolish until I have all the facts.
Then I will decide if I need to do something foolish or not.”
“Then I will tell you what I know, and only hope that you don’t do so.
According to what information we were able to get, the enemy sent two of their members to the main gate of Shion’s village, when they were stopped they revealed an unknown number of exploding tags on their bodies and detonated them at the gate, destroying it in the process and killing several guards.
In the chaos, there was an identical attack at the second gate, the cultists used mostly exploding tags and other low level jutsu that would create mass destruction, even though there were only a few hundred of the cultists, their methods were very effective.
Instead of targeting the military opposing them, they targeted the civilians, forcing the soldiers to divide their forces a second time, from reinforcing both gates and trying to protect the civilians.
Their first targets were the hospital, market and residential district, areas that would have been heavily populated and enclosed spaces making them perfect targets, makes it harder for people to get out of the way.
Even though they were outnumbered, it was their guerrilla tactics that gave them the upper hand, at least until a team from the Dragon village arrived; they reversed summoned reinforcements and slaughtered the cultists, while another team protected the survivors.
But it would appear they decided to add insult to injury as they caused a rockslide to crush the entire village, even after everyone was evacuated, so now under the protection of twenty Dragons, just under five hundred displaced people, mostly civilians, will be joining our village.
Akio believes that they will not be the targets of the cult, because they want to stretch our resources having to support so many refugees, our food supply and living spaces will be stretched even more now.” Kakashi finished while watching the young man beside him.
“They are trying to divide and conquer us, give it a little bit of time and some of Konoha’s civilians or even Shinobi might start to resent the refugees, making things harder on the people who just lost their home hoping to find a new one here, only to be treated in such a way. Conflict would be inevitable, eventually a riot might start and that would give the cultists the perfect opportunity to sneak in and kill hundreds if not thousands of people.” Naruto thought out loud.
“Yeah, right now we have a team heading for a suspected camp that was set up only a few days ago.
Might be nothing, but if it’s the enemy, then they are to measure the enemy forces strength and report their findings.
Either way, they would have to be destroyed, fanatics like that can’t be reasoned with.”
“Who did they send?”
“The team consists of Inuzuka Hana, Kotetsu, Gemma and Izumo.
One of Konoha’s best trackers and three very capable Shinobi that should be more than enough, they will be able to recon the enemy and give us vital information and act as needed.”
Naruto stood up and paid his bill as he processed the information, his expression blank as his Sensei watched him.
“Thank you Kakashi-Sensei, this entire time I could feel that something was not right in the air, please have a medical unit with backup follow them, I already know that they are in trouble.” Naruto then vanished in a blur of yellow orange and red as the older man stood to try and stop him.
“Naruto, wait!”
Kakashi ran out of the stand as eight ANBU appeared in front of him at full attention.
“I want you and a medical team to find the tracker unit that was sent out an hour ago, I have reason to believe they may be in trouble, Naruto has already left to support them, but I fear he may be underestimating the enemy.
Now go.”
‘Looks like I’m going to be the one that tells Tsunade-Sama, I just hope she’s feeling generous and only sends me through one wall.’ Kakashi though while looking towards the Hokage fortress.

In a small clearing in the forest, Hana did several back flips avoiding the Kunai that were thrown at her, never in her life had she ever fought such a reckless enemy before, one of the cultists actually threw a Kunai with an exploding tag on it into one of his comrades while he was fighting Kotetsu in an attempt to kill her teammate.
She ducked low as another one whizzed past her head landing in the tree right behind her when she saw that it had an exploding tag on it.
Quickly diving out of the way, she avoided the blast but was peppered with debris, she let out a howl of pain as a large jagged piece of wood lodged its self inside her upper leg.
Soon there was a shadow over her as one of the masked men looked at her, a sword in his hand, pointing the blade down towards her as he lifted it high when suddenly a blinding rainbow of yellow, red and orange appeared.
The bright light blinding her, but she could hear the sound of someone choking on blood followed by a sickening snapping sound, it was only then she could detect the scent of someone very familiar to her.
“Naruto-Kun, what are you doing here?” she asked between sobs of pain.
“Saving the lives of some special people in my life, now take care of that wound while I personally deal with these bastards.”
His answer sent a shiver up her spine; his primal aura and commanding tone were so unlike him, and it excited her for a split second.
It was then that she saw one of the masked men pull out a red ball about the size of her first, her eyes widening in panic as she called out to her would be hero.
“Naruto-Kun, look out for that...” she started to scream as the cultist threw the device.
Naruto watched as the device flew towards him only to send a fist made of chakra out of his side punching the strange red ball back towards the would be attacker, hitting him in the chest.
The moment the device made contact with him it exploded, ripping the man’s body apart as he screamed.
Another one appeared but this one was armed with a green ball, still holding the now dead man in his hands, Naruto threw the body to intercept and shield him from this new weapon, as green ooze spilled on the dead body it began to dissolve and impacted the attacker, covering him in the substance too.
His blood curdling screams only lasted for a moment as his torso was quickly consumed and soon all that was left was a pile of green slime.
Hana then heard the sound of something coming out of the bushes at high speed, Naruto was about to launch an attack when his glaring eyes softened for a moment.
A bloody Gemma emerged from the bushes with an injured gray dog across his shoulders with a second Naruto behind him, he quickly stopped as he came face to face with Naruto.
“N-Naruto? What the hell are you doing here?” The injured man asked.
Just before he could answer, Izumo with another gray dog that was clearly less injured followed by another Naruto, emerged from another section of the forest, Kotetsu supporting a broken arm walked in with a third limping dog of the same colors and a forth Naruto behind him.
Her entire team was beaten, bloody and over all in a bad situation, if it hadn’t been for Naruto, she would have been dead by now, and her attackers would have likely finished off the others too.
“Don’t worry guys; reinforcements are on their way with medics.
I will take over from here and deal with the bastards myself.” Naruto then dashed off into the forest as Hana called out to him.
“No Naruto wait!” But he was already gone.
“I’m grateful for him showing up, but if he keeps running off like that, he’s going to get himself killed, or someone else, idiot didn’t even wait to get our Intel on the enemy.” Gemma said shaking his head.
“Its how he is, he probably did that trying to protect us, ran off on someone before they could explain the situation and got here just in time.” Kotetsu winced as he smiled.
