21 Adjusting Part 5
"Did you mean it?" Sasuke asked mid-morning of the third day of his heat.
"Mean what? That you have an amazing dick?" Naruto slurred and blearily opened an eye, reaching back with his hand to pat somewhere in the vicinity of Sasuke's crotch. "Hell, yeah, I mean it. Thought I was pretty clear about that too." He had a vague memory of practically waxing poetry about Sasuke's dick an hour before until Sasuke had found an efficient way to shut him up. His arse was starting to ache because of that efficient way, but damn if it wasn't an ache he relished in.
Sasuke snorted and grabbed his wandering hand, squeezing in it once before releasing it and wrapping his own arm around the blond's stomach. The heat of his chest pressing against Naruto's back felt scalding hot and his lips brushed Naruto's ear when he murmured, "No, that you want to have another baby with me."
That snapped him right out of the daze he'd fallen in and involuntarily he tensed up. It had been a stupid comment, one uttered in the heat of the moment when he'd been spurring Sasuke on to fuck him harder, deeper, right there. He hadn't thought twice about the comment – honestly, he tended to say a lot of stupid shit during his heats, because his brain to mouth filter basically became non-existent then (even worse than normally) and he absolutely thrived on making Sasuke lose control.
He should have known his heat addled brain and stupid mouth would come back to bite him in the arse one day.
"I mean it," he answered quietly and placed his hand on top of the one resting on his lower belly. "But – not yet. Not now. I love Itachi, but I'm not ready yet to have another baby so soon. I want to wait a couple of years, graduate, find a job, all that jazz before I want another baby. I want to be ready for it this time instead of taken by surprise. Do you mind that?" He held his breath.
It hadn't escaped his attention that Sasuke tended to react more out of control whenever Naruto mentioned anything that alluded to the Alpha knocking him up again. He guessed it was part of the Alpha instinct to react to any mention that had to do with expanding the family with his mate. An ancient old instinct that was hard to ignore, especially when their mate was in heat.
And the thing was – Naruto wanted to have more children with Sasuke. He wanted to give him the big family he longed for, even if he would never admit that desire aloud. He could easily picture them having another child, maybe two or three more even.
The desire was there, but he wasn't ready yet. Itachi wasn't even a year old yet, they still had to graduate, actually find a job, maybe move out into a bigger house soon … He wanted to be settled before he could even contemplate having a second child. He wanted to be actually ready for another baby instead of being surprised by it.
Itachi had turned out to be a wonderful surprise, true, but for the next one he wanted the time to prepare himself, to actually be ready before he would become pregnant again.
"I don't mind," Sasuke said to his quiet relief. "I understand. I just – didn't think you would want another baby."
Naruto twisted around in his hold to stare at him. "Why wouldn't I want another baby with you?" he asked perplexed. When had he ever given that impression?
Sasuke shrugged stiffly, looking a tad cross with himself. "When you were giving birth, you said you didn't want to go through that again."
Blue eyes rolled. "Oh that. I was pushing something the size of a watermelon out of my body and it fucking hurt, what did you expect me to say? Of course I wasn't going to be happy about it in that moment, but Sasuke, trust me, the moment Itachi was out of me and in my arms, all I could think of was how perfect he was and how I wanted more children with you. Even if that means feeling like I'm getting ripped in two."
"You mean it?" Sasuke eyed him; uncertainty briefly crossing his face.
"Of course I mean it. Why would I lie about something like this?" Why lie about something so important to you? Naruto liked to joke at times, sure, and sometimes his mouth was faster than his brain, but he wasn't cruel. He would never lie or joke about something as important and serious as this.
"I'm glad," Sasuke said quietly, burying his face in Naruto's neck and his arms wrapped around his waist.
He didn't say anything more, but he didn't have to. Naruto run his fingers through black blue hair and looked up at the ceiling. They would need to get up soon, take a shower, change the bedding, air out the room and have something to eat. His heat was practically finished now, only a speck of simmering heat left. But all that could wait for now.
Now he was just content to lie there and listen to Sasuke's soft breathing.
"He didn't give you too much trouble?" he asked while peppering kisses all over Itachi's face. "I missed you so much, my little prince!"
Itachi giggled and smacked wet kisses on his cheek in return. "Da!"
Deidara shrugged and smiled, leaning back in the couch. "He was a bit cranky the first day, but I think that's because he was missing his daddies, un. Once we got past the first night, he was a very happy boy, weren't you, Itachi-kun?" he cooed and tickled the little boy's left foot, making him giggle even harder, kicking his small foot.
"I'm glad to hear that. I'm so happy you were a good boy for Deidara-jisan," Naruto told his son, who grinned up at him widely, clearly happy to be back in his daddy's arms.
"On a regular day, Deidara is more trouble than your son," Sasori said dryly, entering the living room. He was dressed in a light grey suit with a dark red tie and he held a mug in his right hand.
"Now you're just being mean, un," Deidara whined but tilted his head backwards to accept a kiss. "Hm, I'll see you tonight."
"Try not to blow anything up. There's only so much blackmail I have on the manager," Sasori said with a completely straight face and after nodding at Naruto, he left after depositing his mug in the kitchen.
"Is he serious about that blackmail part or not? I can't tell," Naruto said blankly, cocking his head to the right. Sasori's blank face rivalled that of Sasuke's in that regard – although at least with Sasuke, Naruto had managed to figure out when he was being serious and when not.
"Who knows, un?" Deidara shrugged. "He's overreacting, though. The last time I caused an explosion was two months ago."
Naruto felt like he should be concerned that the other man didn't add that the explosion happened accidentally, but at this point he was just glad Deidara hadn't got in the mood to blow shit up whilst his son was here.
"Packed everything," Sasuke announced when he came into the room, dropping the bag against the wall. He'd insisted on gathering Itachi's stuff, waving off both Deidara's and Sasori's help. "Someone seems happy," he added with a small smile when Itachi turned his head and cried out happily at seeing his other daddy.
"Hm, he's happy to see us," Naruto grinned and held out Itachi to Sasuke when the Alpha came closer.
"I heard someone was a good boy these past three days," Sasuke said, smiling down at Itachi.
Itachi cooed in response before sighing in contentment when he rested his head against Sasuke's shoulder, nearly hiding his face in the man's neck.
"Thanks again for watching after him," Naruto smiled and stood up. They couldn't stay for long; Sasuke had a class starting soon and he still needed to finish an assignment and send it through to his professor.
Deidara stood up as well. "It was no trouble at all, un," he reassured him. "We'd be happy to look after him again next time if you want."
"We might take you up on that offer," Naruto chuckled and zipped his jacket close. He went to Itachi's overnight bag and riffled through it until he unearthed the small jacket and helped Sasuke put it on their son.
Itachi huffed, not very pleased with the jacket, and pouted, but didn't start crying, so that was a win.
"All right, we're off now. Still got an assignment to finish," Naruto sighed, putting the sling of the bag over his shoulder.
"Good luck with the assignment, un," Deidara smiled and went with them to the door. "We'll talk soon. See you soon, little man!"
"Ba!" was Itachi's reply and he smacked Sasuke's shoulder several times.
They exchanged a few more goodbyes and then they were off, choosing to take the stairs instead of the lift.
"Guess we now have two options when my heat starts," Naruto mentioned and Sasuke hummed.
"At least until Deidara has his own kid."
"Oh, then we can maybe take turns!" Naruto said enthusiastically, adjusting the bag around his shoulder. "We can look after his kid when his heat hits and he can look after Itachi when mine starts. It's perfect!"
"Unless your heats start at the same time," Sasuke said dryly.
"Nah, I think he's one or two weeks after me," Naruto said thoughtfully. He shrugged. "And otherwise, we'll bring Itachi to my parents, no big deal."
It would be great if Itachi could grow up with Deidara's kid, though. Naruto was an only child and Sasuke's brother had died, leaving him alone too. Aside from Naruto's parents, neither of them had any other close family nearby, and it wasn't like their friends would have children soon.
So it'd be nice if Itachi could play with Deidara's daughter or son in the future; they could be cousins of sorts. After all, family wasn't always made through blood only.
A month and a half later, the twelfth of December saw them all gathered at his parents' place to celebrate Itachi's first birthday. Deidara was there too, albeit without Sasori because the man had some meetings he couldn't reschedule. Being four months pregnant had Deidara showing a little already and mum discussed baby stuff with him eagerly, even though they hadn't spoken much with each other before.
Kiba and Shikamaru would have liked to come, but they both had important tests to study for, so they had given their presents for Itachi to Naruto instead to make up for it. Naruto's godfather, Jiraiya, had just come back from one of his many travels abroad and was animatedly discussing one of his trips to Greece with dad. He'd become smitten with Itachi the second he'd laid eyes on the boy and had spent more than an hour holding him, Itachi very fascinated with his long, bushy white hair.
Kakashi was present as well and Naruto watched with exasperated amusement how Sasuke regularly deflected Itachi from walking to Kakashi with a casualness that fooled nobody. The older Alpha took it all in stride, teasing Sasuke about it.
To Naruto's surprise even Gaara and Temari showed up; the latter appearing slightly disappointed that Shikamaru was unable to come. It made Naruto wonder whether there would be a new couple in their friend circle in the upcoming year.
"He's completely tuckered out," Naruto chuckled softly when he slipped into his old bedroom.
The guests had left two hours ago and Itachi had immediately nodded off after eating his dinner. He'd had some naps throughout the day, but clearly the excitement of his birthday had caught up to him fully now. His pile of presents – and it was quite a big pile, Naruto had no idea how they would bring everything with them to the apartment – had been collected in a corner of the nursery.
Sasuke hummed, changing his sweater for his pyjama shirt. "Doesn't surprise me with how many people were here today."
"Yeah, I'm a bit surprised with how many showed up," Naruto said and stretched his arms, yawning. He was completely knackered as well, having been up early to pick up the two cakes and some other stuff for lunch and dinner.
"Some really didn't have to go through the trouble of coming," Sasuke muttered darkly, throwing back the blankets.
The blond snorted, knowing who the man was thinking about, and shook his head. "You two are so weird," he sighed and shuffled over to the bed, peeling off his socks. He dropped down on the bed and burrowed himself underneath the blankets, shuffling to the side to make room for Sasuke.
"Excuse me for wanting to keep our son uncorrupted," Sasuke snarked, getting into the bed as well.
"So weird," Naruto repeated and blinked when the room was abruptly plunged in darkness.
"Let's go to sleep, we've got an early day tomorrow," Sasuke muttered; his hand finding Naruto's stomach and slipping underneath his sweatshirt.
"Hm, yay," Naruto said unenthusiastically, slinging his arm around the Alpha's waist. December meant exams and it being their last year, they needed to do well in order to graduate in March.
Man, they would be graduating in just a couple of months … They also would be getting married in just a couple of months …
That thought had him pressing himself tightly against Sasuke, unable to deal with the sudden giddiness he felt in any other way.
"Naruto?"
"Hm, nothing. Just that I love you," Naruto mumbled and kissed the hollow between Sasuke's collarbones.
"I love you too." Sasuke sounded a bit bemused and Naruto smiled, finding his mate's lips in the dark.
It was surreal to imagine that just last year he'd given birth to the little boy sleeping peacefully in the room next to them. Last year he had a mate and now he had a fiancé.
It was odd how his life had changed this much in just one year.
Odd, but very nice.
The next couple of months seemed to fly by.
The new year rolled into the country with a lot of snow – something which fascinated Itachi when they brought him outside the day after it had snowed the entire night. The snow covered everything with a thick, white blanket and Itachi watched wide eyed how Naruto rolled some snow into a ball. It spurred the boy on to try it himself and his parents watched with proud smiles how he grabbed at the snow with his bright red mittens and clumsily tried to make snowballs too.
With graduation looming, they practically drowned in assignments and papers, but they still made time for themselves on Valentine's Day, enjoying each other's presence after Itachi had fallen asleep.
Graduation day itself had Naruto mostly in a daze. It was weird to think that after three years of busting his butt off, he was finally holding the results of all those long nights of studying in his hands in the form of his degree. He had to pinch himself several times, just to make sure he wasn't still asleep.
"Congratulations, un," Deidara grinned and hugged him after the ceremony was over and Naruto's parents had got their turn of hugging him first.
"Thanks, but you didn't have to go through the trouble of coming here," Naruto said, hugging him back.
At seven months pregnant, there was no way to ignore the belly the older blond was sporting now and Naruto felt a bit guilty that Deidara had come all the way here to see him graduate. It was unseasonably warm for the time of the year and he knew from his own experience that being heavily pregnant in warm weather wasn't exactly pleasant.
"Don't be stupid, why wouldn't I want to see my friends graduate, un?" Deidara scolded him light-heartedly, before his face softened and he shot a discreet glance at Sasuke, who was talking to Kakashi a couple of feet away. "I know it's not the same and I'm definitely not taking over his brother's place, but I figured it would be nice for him if he had someone from his past seeing him graduate."
"He probably won't say it, but he's glad to see you," Naruto said, smiling faintly.
"If you're not going to carry around any type of sun screen, will you at least make sure to keep hydrated?" Sasori asked exasperatedly, popping up next to Deidara with a bottle of water. He nodded to Naruto. "Congratulations on graduating, Naruto-san."
"Thanks," Naruto grinned, watching amused how Deidara rolled his eyes and snatched the bottle from Sasori's grip.
"I'm not going to carry around a parasol, that looks stupid, un," Deidara insisted, but unscrewed the lid and took a sip.
"You won't wear a cap either." Sasori scowled and even though he was a bit smaller than the blond, he looked no less intimidating.
"I don't like caps," Deidara grimaced and they wandered off, still arguing.
"Finally escaped from Kakashi?" Naruto raised an eyebrow when Sasuke halted next to him with a huff, a scowl marring his face. Itachi was seated on his hip, oblivious to his papa's annoyance. He was busy looking around, giggling whenever someone cooed at him.
"Don't even start. I told him I'd rip off his balls if he even tried to pinch my cheeks," Sasuke replied, keeping his voice low so that Itachi wouldn't pick up anything he shouldn't pick up.
He'd said his first official word a month and a half ago – "Dada!" when pointing at Sasuke – and since then he'd become very eager to learn new words, making them extremely careful of what exactly they said around him. The last thing they wanted was for him to pick up bad words.
"He's proud of you," Naruto said, brushing Itachi's cheek with his index finger.
"Maybe, doesn't mean he has to act like that. I'm not a toddler," Sasuke groused, but a smile coloured his lips when Itachi clapped his chest and cooed at him.
"Dada!"
"Eh, let him have his moment," Naruto said dismissively. "More importantly, we've finally graduated!"
"We have," Sasuke said with a small smile. "Excited?"
"You bet I am, but you know what else is waiting for us after this?" Naruto asked, biting on his lip to supress a bigger smile.
Sasuke tilted his head to the left, his eyes glittering amused. "A celebration at home? Your mum having cooked way too much?"
"Well, yeah, that's a given," the blond laughed and closed the remaining distance between them, slipping his arms around Sasuke's waist. He rose up to peck Sasuke's lips. "But no, I'm talking about something else. Something that's going to happen in a month; something that's going to make me really worthy of wearing your necklace," he murmured, slipping the pendant from underneath his formal robes for a moment. The red and white pendant caught the sunshine and gleamed brightly.
The bright shine attracted Itachi's attention and he muttered something in surprise, grappling at the pendant. When Naruto held it closer, his chubby fingers closed around it and his eyes widened, as if startled by how warm the metal felt.
When blue eyes flicked up again at Sasuke, the Omega's breathing hitched when he saw the intense look in black eyes.
"You're already worthy of wearing it; a name change won't make any difference when it comes to that," Sasuke said quietly; his free hand landing in the back of Naruto's neck to softly squeeze in it.
"Maybe," Naruto allowed, eyes half lidded. "Doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to taking over your name, though."
"I'm glad to hear that," Sasuke smiled and when he kissed him next, it was filled with both love and possessiveness; his hand holding the blond's head in place.
"Dada, ma, ma!" Itachi implored when he deemed his parents had kissed long enough. He bounced up and down in Sasuke's hold, pointing at his grandparents who were walking over to them, Kakashi following behind them.
"Guess my parents and Kakashi are ready to start the celebration," Naruto chuckled and pulled back a bit.
"Don't even think of letting that idiot hold our son," Sasuke warned him before mum swooped down on them, drawing the three of them in a tight hug.
"Come on, boys, we're going to celebrate! I can't believe you two graduated! It feels like you only just graduated secondary school." Mum's eyes grew misty and then she started sobbing, burying her face in Naruto's neck.
"Aw mum, don't cry!"
"I feel old!" she cried. "I'm already a grandma of a very beautiful, very cute, very handsome little boy and now you two have graduated and you're going to get married soon and oh god, why couldn't you stay little?! I don't want to give you up yet!"
"There, there." Naruto patted her back awkwardly, throwing a beseeching look at dad.
He just shrugged and smiled. "Just let her get it out of her system," he advised.
Which was easy for him to say, of course, because he wasn't the one being cried on!
They ended up waiting nearly fifteen minutes there amidst the crowd before mum calmed down enough to release her death grip and guide them to their cars in order to start the celebration.
The month following their graduation flew by in a blink of the eye it felt like with how much they still needed to plan for the wedding.
They'd both opted to keep the wedding a small affair, only their family and closest friends invited. There was no point in inviting people they barely knew after all and Naruto wasn't a fan of an extravagant wedding either. Some weddings in the Uchiha family had been like that, apparently; Sasuke telling him about some of the very expensive, very large weddings he'd been to as a kid when one of his cousins got married. His own parents on the other hand had also chosen to keep it small, which made Naruto feel better about his desire not to make a too huge deal out of it.
Of course he wanted everyone to know what kind of an amazing man he was going to marry, but there was no need to make it too big or too expensive. Their wedding day was meant as a way to express their love in a different way and that could be easily done by keep the whole affair intimate.
When the day of their wedding finally arrived on the twentieth of April, Naruto felt like he would explode with nerves before he could even set a foot outside of the room. It was stupid to be nervous, he knew, because what was there to be nervous about? He was already carrying Sasuke's Mark, which bound him for life to the Alpha – compared to that, the wedding was like a small detail.
Yet, as he stood in front of the mirror, gazing at himself, staring at the way his white suit fitted him perfectly, at the way his Mark was perfectly visible to the world thanks to the lower collar of his light green shirt and his jacket, he thought he was going to throw up any second now. God, he was so fucking nervous.
A knock on the door startled him and through dry lips, he called out, "Yeah?"
"Are you dressed, honey?" Mum entered the room, her face softening and her eyes glistening wetly when she saw him standing there. "Oh, Naruto, you look amazing!" she breathed out and clapped her hands.
"Yeah, you think so?" he smiled nervously, brushing his hands over his trousers.
"I don't think so, it's a fact!" she stated and closed the distance between them. She made him turn around to face her and then stood there, quietly contemplating him with her hands resting warmly on his elbows. "You really do look handsome, sweetheart."
"Thanks, mum," he said, offering her a weak smile.
"Nervous?" she asked sympathetically.
"Yeah, a bit." He breathed out and wrinkled his nose. "I don't know why, because well, nothing gets more permanent than this Mark, right?" He pointed at his neck and shook his head. "This literally binds me to him for life, yet I'm more nervous today than I was when he gave me the Mark."
Granted, when Sasuke had given him his Mark, he'd also been screwing his brains out, so there was that, but still.
"Everyone, whether they're already carrying their partner's Mark or not, is nervous about their wedding day. It's normal, Naruto, trust me," she soothed him, her hands lowering to cover his. Her thumbs started rubbing the back of his hands. "Hell, I was so nervous when I married your dad, I puked right before I put my dress on! You're doing a lot better than me in that regard!"
"I feel like I'm going to puke," he admitted chagrined.
"That's normal," she reassured him again before adding pensively, "Though if you do end up puking, please try not to get anything on your suit. That's the downside of wearing white: it shows absolutely everything."
He laughed, relaxing a bit.
She smiled, leaning up on her tiptoes to peck his cheek. "See, that's better. Being nervous is fine, but you still need to enjoy your wedding day."
"I'm getting married today, mum. I'm marrying Sasuke today," he whispered, the realisation of it only now fully hitting him.
In just a couple of hours he would no longer be Uzumaki Naruto, but Uchiha Naruto and that knowledge made something twist inside him funnily. It was a heady feeling to realise he'd be giving up the name he'd carried for nearly twenty-two years to take on his soon to be husband's name. He wanted nothing more than for that to happen, was more than happy to take on Sasuke's last name, but it still left him feeling off kilter.
And if he was already feeling like that, how much worse was it for Sasuke? Sasuke, who'd lost his family when he'd been barely twelve years old, but who would see his family name rising up once more when he married his mate?
They'd both been rather blasé about it until now, but Naruto knew how much him taking on the Uchiha name meant for the dark haired man.
"Yes, you are," Mum murmured and she blinked away some tears. "And I'm so glad for that. I'm so happy you found someone who loves you so much. I always hoped you would one day find someone who respects you, who makes you happy, and who loves you like you deserve to be loved and I'm so incredibly happy you found that person. Are you happy, Naruto?"
"Yeah, I really am, mum," he smiled, blinking away tears of his own. Gah, he wasn't going to start crying now! The ceremony hadn't even started yet!
"I'm glad," she smiled and kissed his forehead. When she laughed, her voice was a bit wobbly. "I know that nothing much is going to change, considering you're already living on your own, but man, is it going to feel different! My baby boy is all grown up now and getting married today … GAH!" She stepped back and fanned herself, sniffling. "I swore to myself I'm not going to be a cry baby today and look at me now! The ceremony still needs to start!"
"Hey, mum?"
"Yeah, sweetie?"
He smiled at her. "I love you."
She blinked rapidly, but it did nothing to hide the sheen of tears filling her purple eyes. "I love you too, honey. So much. And I'm so incredibly proud of you."
They hugged each other tightly, the both of them sniffling, until she stepped away again and cleared her throat, adjusting his collar. "Now, come on, we can't have you being late on your own wedding day! Don't want Sasuke-kun to think you're running off." She brushed her hands down over her dress, which was emerald green and swished around her legs whenever she turned around. Her long, red hair had been put up in a high bun for once, with some strands framing her face in gentle curls.
He smiled softly, thinking of the other man who by now would be making his way to the alter where he would wait patiently for Naruto to appear.
"He won't think that. Because he knows I love him too much."
She smiled and inclined her head. "I guess you're right." Then her eyes sharpened and she clucked her tongue. "But that still doesn't mean you can be late for your own wedding!"
That definitely wouldn't do, no.
And with that, his nerves were back in full force.
Their family and friends all rose up at once when he came through the doors, but he only had eyes for two people in particular.
One of them was a little boy, dressed in a summer blue suit and shiny, little black shoes, holding a small bouquet of bright yellow sunflowers in his hand. He was seated on the hip of the only other one Naruto had eyes for: his fiancé, his soon – very soon – to be husband. Sasuke was wearing a fitted black suit, but his shirt was blue – just as blue as Naruto's eyes.
As Naruto slowly strode over the white carpet towards the alter, he never once looked away and was therefore treated to the sight of Sasuke's face lightning up when he saw him, his black eyes filling with pure adoration and love for the blond coming towards him.
"You look stunning," Sasuke whispered in a rough voice when Naruto finally stopped right next to him.
"Dada, 'ook!" Itachi grinned, pushing the bouquet at his daddy.
"Yes, they're pretty, hm? Just as pretty as you," Naruto grinned and kissed Itachi's forehead, who blinked before he grinned wider.
Once Naruto had accepted the sunflowers, his dad stepped forwards to take Itachi. "Here, bud, you're going to sit with me and your grandma, so your daddies can get married."
"Dada, baba!" Itachi waved, making other people laugh and coo.
Naruto thought he could even hear Temari muttering, "Eugh, he's so disgustingly adorable, that should be illegal!"
"Whatever you say," Shikamaru said placatingly. He was seated right next to her, which seemed to please her if the small smile constantly tugging at the corners of her mouth was any indication.
The priest smiled at them when they both turned around to face him. "Ladies and gentlemen, friends and family, we're gathered here today to witness the union between Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto."
This was it.
Finally.
To be quite honest, Naruto couldn't remember much of the ceremony itself. Most of it was spent in a daze, as if he was dreaming, but at the very least he remembered when he had to say what because the ceremony itself went without a hitch. Their witnesses – Gaara for Sasuke and Deidara for Naruto – did their jobs wonderfully too, which did a lot to calm down Naruto's nerves.
When the time came to exchange their vows and their rings, his heart felt like it was going to beat straight out of his chest and his hand felt clammy when he held it out to Sasuke.
"I, Uchiha Sasuke, take you, Uzumaki Naruto, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part," he spoke clearly; his strong voice echoing through the room. His hand was steady when he slipped the ring around Naruto's finger, but his eyes were glittering brightly, showing just how much this action meant to him.
Now it was Naruto's turn. He cleared his throat softly and spoke, "I, Uzumaki Naruto, take you, Uchiha Sasuke, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part." His voice wobbled a bit near the end, but at least he wasn't blubbering like a baby, and his hand was relatively steady when he grasped Sasuke's hand gently and slid the ring around his finger.
Most importantly: he didn't accidentally drop the ring. At least he was saved from that particular embarrassment.
They shared a look, their hands linked together, before they both turned back to face the priest, who inclined his head with a smile.
"By the powers invested in me, I declare you husband and husband. You may kiss each other."
He didn't need to say that twice. Scarcely had those words left his mouth or Sasuke cradled his face and kissed him fiercely, nearly overwhelming the blond with the passion and love he could feel through it. He couldn't help but start grinning when their family and friends started whooping and catcalling – that had to be Kiba, that idiot – and felt Sasuke smiling against his mouth.
When they pulled back at least – not too much, not yet – they gazed in each other's eyes and Naruto's hands shook when he clasped them around Sasuke's neck.
His mate and now his husband.
"So you're going to stay at the coast for a week, un?" Deidara asked curiously, raising his voice slightly to be heard above the music.
After getting their marriage papers signed at the town hall, they'd gone to the revenue they'd rented for the day so that the wedding reception could start. It was now inching past eight o'clock and while it wasn't that late yet, Naruto was itching to leave here so that they could have the last traditional part of their wedding: the wedding night.
"Yeah, the first four days it's just going to be us, and then either mum or dad will bring Itachi so he can spend the rest of the week with us," Naruto smiled.
His gaze automatically went to his son who was currently dancing with Karin, the girl holding Itachi with his legs around her waist so they could twirl around on the dance floor. He should go to sleep soon, otherwise his sleeping schedule would be screwed up, but for now Naruto let him be, watching him giggling and clapping his hands when Karin twirled them around Suigetsu and Temari.
"Bet you're looking forward to starting your honeymoon," Deidara teased and nudged his arm, winking at him. He was due at the beginning of June and he was leaning back in his chair to give his belly some room.
Last time Naruto checked, Sasori was on the other end of the room, talking to Jugo of all people present about some type of art.
"Not going to lie, I can't wait to get out of here," Naruto laughed embarrassed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Can't say I blame you, un," Deidara grinned and raised an eyebrow amused when Kiba draped his arm around Naruto's shoulders, his unsteady gait and flushed cheeks signs that he was taking advantage of the open bar a bit too much.
"Still pissed that you couldn't wait one more year, but great party, dude," Kiba told him, patting his arm. There was a hint of a slur in his voice, but he didn't appear completely wasted yet.
"Thanks, should I worry about you taking up another bet with Hyuuga? Like maybe how long it'll take for us to start on a second baby?" Naruto asked dryly; his own hand still wrapped around his glass of champagne. He'd only been wasted one time in his life and he definitely wasn't planning on tonight being the second time. He had plans for tonight and those would be useless if he drank too much alcohol.
"Psssh, of course not!" Kiba waved his hand and snorted. "I learnt my lesson, trust me. Or wait, are you planning on making baby number two?" His eyes widened comically. "If so, can I please make a bet with that uptight bastard? I can use some extra cash!"
"You can fuck right off, that's what you can do," Naruto told him and kicked his leg, scowling.
Shikamaru appeared while Kiba was hopping up and down on one foot, cursing. The spiky haired man took one look at his friend and released a sigh of the long suffering. "Sorry, Naruto, he's an idiot," he told the blond and grabbed Kiba's arm, dragging him away. "Come on, stupid, before you embarrass yourself even more."
"Who're you calling stupid!" Kiba protested, but couldn't do much but follow his friend unless he wanted to trip over his own feet and fall face flat on the floor.
"You've got interesting friends," Deidara remarked amused.
"You mean, idiotic ones," Naruto corrected him, shaking his head. He'd have Kiba's balls if that idiot did end up making another stupid bet about him and Sasuke.
"Why did that dog idiot tell me that if I'm planning on knocking you up again, I should tell him?" Sasuke's eyebrows were knitted together in both confusion and irritation when he sat down next to Naruto, grasping his hand.
"Don't worry about that; he's being an idiot," Naruto said dismissively.
"Yes, I know that. That's not news," Sasuke said slowly, a light sneer around his mouth. "What I want to know is why he's so interested in whether we're having another baby or not."
"Dog breath thinks he can use that for another bet with Hyuuga, because he's lacking in cash," Naruto sighed explosively and shrugged. "Given how much he's drinking, he probably won't even remember his own stupidity in the morning."
Dark eyes rolled and then the Alpha decided it was time for a change in subject. "You want to get out of here?"
"Subtle," Naruto snorted and Deidara grinned. "But honestly? Yeah."
Sasuke jerked his head to the exit. "Then let's go. It'll take us around three hours to get there."
"Sure, let's go say goodbye to my parents and Itachi first," Naruto grinned, butterflies racing in his stomach.
He couldn't wait until they were in the little cottage Kakashi had arranged for them. He still had a surprise planned for Sasuke and he really wanted to see his face when he saw it!
Leaving Itachi behind would never get easy, even if he was in the very capable hands of his grandparents. He would miss his son like crazy for the next four days, but reminded himself that he would see him again very soon.
Besides, with his heat slated to start the next day, there was no way they could have taken Itachi with them from the start of their honeymoon. Itachi had got a lot better at sleeping through the night, but Naruto tended to get … rather loud and he didn't want to wake up his son when he inadvertently got a bit too excited.
By the time they finally arrived at the cottage, the smell of the sea heavy in the air and the water gently lapping across the beach, it was nearly midnight. The full moon shone brightly, painting the earth in a silver light, and Naruto felt quite jittery when Sasuke grabbed his hand as they made their way up to the cottage. It looked out on the beach and he thought that it would make for a magnificent sight in the morning.
As it was, he couldn't really concentrate on thoughts of the next day or even how nice the cottage looked both out- and inside, because everything in him, down to the smallest cell, was focused on what would happen soon.
He had expected to feel too tired after the long, eventful day they had had, but instead he felt wired up, wide awake, and not ready at all yet to go to sleep. The way Sasuke looked at him when he closed the door behind them after they'd removed their shoes and dropped their bags on the floor carelessly, told him in no uncertain terms that the Alpha wasn't planning on going to sleep any time soon either.
Good.
"I'm so glad we're alone now," Sasuke murmured, crowding the blond against the door. He braced both arms on each side of Naruto and leant forwards, catching the Omega's mouth in a soft kiss which quickly turned fierce, lips parting and tongues meeting.
When he felt a hand tugging at his shirt, removing it from his trousers before sliding underneath it– his jacket having been removed hours ago – Naruto grasped it and pulled it from underneath the button up, grinning when he met Sasuke's confused look.
"Naruto?"
"Hm, I've got a surprise for you," he said and ducked away from the door, his grin widening when Sasuke automatically swivelled around to follow him. He grabbed both Sasuke's hands and tugged him along with him to the bedroom he'd spotted just now.
The doors of the rooms had all been left open, which made it a lot easier to figure out which room had which purpose. He didn't want to waste any time in trying to find the bedroom. Not with how eager he was to show Sasuke his little surprise. He hoped the man would like it, but didn't allow himself to second guess himself. He wouldn't allow any stupid insecurities to ruin their night.
"Sit down," he ordered, pushing the dark haired man to the bed.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow, but obeyed, leaning back on his hands; the epitome of fully relaxed. He regarded Naruto curiously, watching how he flicked on the lamp on the nightstand, which bathed the room in a gentle white light.
Interest flared up in black eyes when Naruto unzipped his trousers and opened the button, shimmying carefully out of them. He wasn't going to attempt a striptease – he'd probably only make a fool out of himself if he tried that – but it was imperative that he removed his trousers as carefully as possible in order not to reveal his surprise too quickly.
Once the trousers were successfully lowered to his ankles he stepped out of them and kicked them aside. He straightened up slowly, glad to see that his shirt was just long enough to cover up his surprise. The seamstress had been a bit dubious about why he'd been so insisted on having a shirt that while still fitting to his frame would be long enough to cover half of his thighs from view. How else was he supposed to keep his surprise a secret until just the right moment?
"You're not going to remove the rest?" Sasuke questioned, his eyes half lidded.
"Why would I when I know how much you love doing that yourself?" Naruto answered cheekily and drew closer, leaning his hands on firm thighs to steal a kiss. "No, this is just to hide the surprise a little bit longer."
"Hiding it, hm? You're wearing something for me?" Sasuke murmured, smirking.
"Hm, especially for you. Aren't you one lucky Alpha," Naruto teased, feeling smug when that lit a fire in those deep, black eyes. No matter how many times he would say it, the other man would never get tired of being called 'Alpha' it seemed. Good thing for him that Naruto had no problem indulging him in it.
"And what are you wearing for me?"
"Why don't you feel for yourself?" He rested his hands on Sasuke's shoulders and raised an eyebrow, lust already pooling in the pit of his belly.
"You're either wearing it underneath your shirt or around your thighs," Sasuke murmured; his gaze slowly raking over his husband's body. "But seeing as you were so careful with getting rid of your trousers, I'm going to guess that whatever it is, you're wearing it around your thighs – or maybe a bit higher."
His smirk sent a thrill through Naruto and he couldn't help but dig his fingers deeper into strong muscles when skilled hands dipped down and caressed his thighs, slowly inching upwards until they disappeared underneath his shirt.
His fingers were featherlight against the blond's skin and Naruto bit down on his lower lip when they stilled. An index finger traced the frilly, lacy edge and Naruto held his breath.
"Is this … Are you wearing a garter?" Sasuke's voice was guttural and his eyes burned when they gazed up at Naruto.
"Hm, hm, you like it?"
In the past up until the previous century, it was tradition for Omega – male and female – to wear garters on their wedding day. It was then removed by their partner using their teeth during the reception, the whole thing made easier back then because all Omega wore loose robes then, no matter the gender.
Nowadays most male Omega ignored that tradition, thinking it was too feminine. Given that they wore trousers instead of loose robes, of course, made it useless to wear a garter as well, because you could hardly go half naked in public.
The idea to wear a garter had popped up in Naruto's mind when Sasuke had gifted him the necklace, mentioning almost offhandedly that his family name was an old one, old enough to have been part of the aristocracy back in the day. Considering the name he'd taken up now, he thought it'd be fitting if he revived a tradition of that time as well.
Hopefully Sasuke would like his present.
"You're going to be the death of me," Sasuke growled and a startled squeak escaped Naruto when hands grasped his hips and in one fluent move he was thrown on the bed.
The Alpha pushed open his legs and lust darkened his eyes even more when the shirt shifted, revealing the lacy, light blue garter. As an added surprise, the name 'Uchiha' had been stitched on it in a dark blue thread. It clung around Naruto's right upper thigh and his fingers grasped at the sheets when Sasuke's finger slipped between the garter and his skin, pulling it away slightly from his thigh.
"You're amazing," Sasuke breathed out and flicked his eyes up. "Can I remove it?"
Naruto raised his leg up in response. "It's your present."
A smirk flitted across pale red lips before Sasuke surprised him by bending down and taking the garter delicately between his teeth. As Naruto stared with his mouth open, Sasuke set about slipping the garter down his leg, only using his hands to manipulate the blond's leg in the right position for him to remove the garter entirely.
When it slid off Naruto's foot completely, he dangled it in the air, eyeing the blue cloth appreciatively. Upon noticing Naruto gaping at him, his smirk widened. "What? Taking it off like this is tradition, no?"
Naruto's laugh turned into a moan when Sasuke bent down swiftly and kissed him deeply; the garter ending up on a pillow next to them. His shirt was deftly unbuttoned and he shrugged out of it as soon as the last button was popped. Sasuke pulled away in order to throw the shirt on the floor and then froze when he saw what else Naruto had prepared for him.
Cheeks stained with a deep blush, Naruto resisted the urge to cover himself when gleaming eyes zeroed in on the last piece of clothing on him: his underwear. To be more precise: the silky white piece he'd chosen to wear today. He wasn't the type to wear underwear like that – preferring boxers – but he'd figured after the garter, he might as well pull out all the stops. He'd gone for white, because again it was rather traditional even if he was far from a blushing virgin anymore.
Well, except for the blushing part right now. That one was accurate.
"You really went all the way, huh?" Admiration coloured Sasuke's voice and Naruto's cheeks reddened even more.
"Well, go big or go home, right?" he offered, his voice pitched a bit higher than he liked.
"You never hold back at all, huh?" Sasuke said and kissed Naruto again before the blond could think of a retort.
They made quick work of Sasuke's clothing, both too worked up now, stealing kisses between each item that got discarded. When they were both fully naked, they fell back on the bed, Naruto's legs spreading automatically to accept his Alpha between them.
A guttural growl left Sasuke when he covered Naruto's body with his own, their cocks rubbing against each other when he rolled his hips. Hands grasped at skin, caressing and stroking and rubbing; teeth nipped and lips sucked before they kissed again and again. Breathy gasps escaped Naruto's swollen lips when Sasuke kissed and nipped his neck, no doubt creating hickeys. When hot lips closed around his Mark and sucked, a shock went through him, arousal spiking, and he shuddered, clutching at Sasuke's shoulders.
He brought his right leg around Sasuke's hip and using the element of surprise he twisted them around, so that he ended up on top. Black eyes widened a tad in surprise before they flared with lust and Sasuke cradled the back of his head, pushing him down to kiss him again, worrying his lower lip between his teeth.
"Do you have any idea how amazing you look?" Sasuke whispered, his breathing ragged and a red sheen colouring his cheeks.
Naruto laughed shyly, rolling his hips forwards so that their pricks pressed against each other. He wrapped a hand around them and started jacking off both of them. "I can say the same about you," he brought out, biting back a moan.
It was true: no matter how old they would become, no matter how their bodies would change, to Naruto, Sasuke would forever remain the most handsome and most attractive man he'd ever met. And this beautiful man was all his. His mate. His Alpha. His husband.
He released their cocks and leant forward, cradling Sasuke's face between his hands to give him a deep kiss, pouring all his love into it. "I love you so much," he whispered and smiled. "My husband."
"Yours," Sasuke agreed and nipped gently at his chin. "And you're mine." One of his hands wandered across Naruto's side before curling around him, grasping one arse cheek.
"Definitely yours," Naruto hissed through his teeth and trembled, squeezing his eyes shut when fingers dipped between his cheeks and brushed against his wet entrance.
Sasuke sought out his mouth again when he pressed one finger inside, aided by the slick the Omega's body was liberally producing by now. One finger quickly became two that stretched him open, caressed his insides and occasionally touched the hidden spot within him that made him moan and sigh, pleasure racing through his veins.
There was no need for words now. When Sasuke pulled his fingers out of him, they shifted around, settling into a better position. Reclined against the pillows, Sasuke watched him lowering himself on his cock with hooded eyes and slightly parted lips. His hands were on Naruto's hips, but they didn't pull him down; they were a steady hold, one which anchored him when it felt like he was being stretched wider than before. His breath left him in a slow exhale when he sank down slowly, adjusting to the girth inside of him. He braced his hands against firm abs, damp with sweat, and sighed gently when he was fully seated in his mate's lap, having taking his Alpha inside of him in one go.
He blinked the sweat out of his eyes and looked down, breath hitching when he saw the mixture of awe and lust and love, all mingled together in those beautiful black eyes. Sasuke held himself completely still, waiting for Naruto to start. His thumbs caressed Naruto's hipbones; each finger felt like a separate brand against the blond's skin.
When they started to move, strong hands helping him move up and down, he swallowed, pushing back the ridiculous urge to cry. Because here he was: loving and being loved by Sasuke, his best friend, his mate, his husband.
When he'd set foot in his new class five years ago, he'd never expected to meet the love of his life there. When he befriended the mysterious, quiet boy, he had never thought their friendship would deepen over time.
Here they were now: carrying each other's Mark and rings around their fingers. They were bound for life to each other and he hardly dared to believe the luck he had had in finding this man. What had he done in his previous life to deserve this amazing man?
"Naruto …"
Sasuke's sweet voice and his tender caress of Naruto's cheek had a tear spilling over against Naruto's will in the end anyway. Sasuke brushed it gently away before sitting up, kissing Naruto slowly and tenderly; their bodies moving in tandem.
He didn't know how long they made love to each other, lost in the other man, his pleasure slowly building up until it eventually became too much and he came with a throaty moan against swollen lips, spilling between their stomachs. Sasuke's hips jerked up irregularly and Naruto's name slipped through his lips in a broken whisper when he came as well, clutching his mate tightly against him and kissing him almost desperately.
Their breathing was loud in the room, drowning out the sound of the sea outside, and it took them a long time before they could bring themselves to move. They helped wash each other in the shower; gentle hands caressing skin and their kisses were slow and languid underneath the spray of the shower.
They entered the bedroom again in peaceful silence and crawled back into the bed, sliding underneath the sheets now. After turning off the lamp, they shifted around in the dark, finding a good position to sleep in. Naruto ended up with his head on Sasuke's shoulder and the man's arm slung across his side; one of Naruto's legs between Sasuke's.
"I love you," Naruto whispered in the dark, kissing Sasuke's shoulder. His necklace, the one Sasuke had given him months ago, was warm against his skin – one of the signs he belonged to the man next to him. A sign he was proud to wear. He belonged to Sasuke as much as the Alpha belonged to him and that thought sent warmth through his chest.
Lips brushed against his forehead. "I love you too."
Sasuke's sleepy, warm voice had him snuggling even closer to him, rubbing his fingers together to feel his ring. The ring Sasuke had put there today and would remain there for the rest of his life. Something that was just another way of them to show their love for each other.
When Naruto fell asleep, it was with a smile, remembering the inscriptions etched into their rings.
My Moon.
My Sun.
