Chapter 21
A/N: New chapter up, it would have been up yesterday if I had time. I've posted the replies to the review on the forum and the link will be attached. Naruto’s smile was wry when he addressed the group, “Alright you all, as lovely as this has all been I need you to leave.”
Everyone turned to him in disbelief and he cringed and scratched the back of his neck, “Um, sorry?”
Gaara tilted his head to the side, “Why?”
“Uh, I have things that I have to do, people that will be visiting... Besides, it’s practically dinner time! You guys got to spend the whole day with me, now shoo.”
Shikamaru looked up at him from the recliner, “I think they should stay.”
Everyone looked at both of them, Shikamaru almost never contradicted Naruto- at least not in front of them.
Naruto’s eyes narrowed when he looked at his friend, “And I think they should leave.”
Shikamaru crossed his legs comfortably, “*He* will be making an appearance, won’t he?”
Naruto crossed his arms, “What of it?
“Then they might as well stay.”
Naruto grit his teeth, “I. Do. Not. Want. Them. To.”
“Scared, Naruto?” Shikamaru asked lightly.
Naruto stiffened and Shikamaru leaned to the side to see his friends, Naruto’s figure was blocking them. Shikamaru smiled, “You guys are welcome to stay.”
They made themselves comfortable.
Naruto frowned, “Why are you doing this?”
“Because they are going to have to meet at some point.”
“And why can’t it be when I want them to?”
“Because that would take a long time, if ever.”
“No, it would be when I was ready.”
A knock sounded at the doorway and Naruto’s shoulders slumped.
“Then you may as well rip off the bandaid because they’re both here.”
Naruto glared at Shikamaru, “You know, I really don’t need this from you right now.”
“Who’s at the door that’s so important?” Tenten asked.
Naruto opened the door and let in the white-haired man with long hair and green eyes that was there the first time he came back. When he didn’t say anything Shikamaru spoke, “Meet Kimimaro. He’s Naruto’s new boyfriend.”
Had anyone been holding anything they would have dropped it. And suddenly they knew the reason why Shikamaru was pissed.
