Deidara smiled as he knocked on Neji's door, looking at the two Hyuuga men with their heads together chatting quietly. “Need me to come back?”
Hiashi looked up and shook his head. “Shut the door behind you, please, Yami.”
Deidara stepped into the office and shut the door. After sitting on the couch in the office he smiled at Neji. “I heard you accepted being pulled in as an accomplice.”
Neji shrugged. “Haku pissed me off when he hurt my cousin, and Madara is fucking with one of my first friends and his fiance. If all it takes is me seeing you with them and questioning it, then so be it.”
Hiashi frowned. “I'd prefer to keep you out of it, but Shikaku needs someone to see them who knows Haku and would recognize Deidara at the same time.” He handed Deidara the papers of false financial information. “What night are you planning on bringing this over to Madara? I'll send Neji to the club with some of his friends to see Naruto that night.”
Deidara looked at the faked documents. “Is Madara going to believe you didn't do a proper background check of your takeover?”
Neji chuckled. “That's why Charlene's name is on the “background check” paper work. She's such a bonehead it's feasible she filled out incorrect information. That she provided the wrong EIN when doing the check.”
Deidara snorted as he choked back his laughter. “I'll set up a meeting with Madara on Thursday, if you feel like you could get your group together by then.”
Neji nodded. “Yeah, I can get them together. I need to make sure Naruto is working that day though. I'll touch base with Itachi so Naruto isn't tipped off anything is weird.” He sighed. “I say this with all the love in my heart, that boy can't keep a secret to save his soul.”
******
Itachi groaned as he stretched in bed, feeling his boyfriend's solid form beside him. “Aren't you supposed to be in school?”
Naruto shook his head. “School break the next week. I'm stuck at the club most of this week though.” He sighed. “I miss our lives from before all this.”
Itachi smiled and nuzzled Naruto's neck. “I love you, Nar.” He sighed and rolled out of bed. “I need to get ready. I have a meeting with Madara with morning.”
Naruto's bottom lip stuck out as he crossed his arms over his chest. “He needs to be brought down. I'm tired of working for him. I'm tired of you working for him. I wish Kakashi could just arrest him for something.”
Itachi smiled at his boyfriend before kissing him softly. “Be good tonight. Make sure you don't give Temari too much trouble.”
*****
Itachi groaned as he left Madara's office. The man wanted him to reach out to Temari's brother and coerce him into “finding” data on Hinata specifically. His phone vibrated and he saw Neji's number on the screen. “What's up, Neji?”
“Tomorrow still works for me to come see Naruto?” They'd made the plans right away, but Neji didn't trust Madara not to change Naruto's schedule.
“Yeah, still works,” he said. He climbed into his car. “Do you have time for me to come over tonight? I'm stressed out and stretched to my limit. I just need a friend who isn't Naruto to talk to.”
Neji frowned. For Itachi to admit he was stressed it must be awfully bad. Luckily he wasn't supposed to see Ten-Ten again until the weekend. “Yeah, man. I'm just leaving the office, so anytime works for me.”
Itachi breathed out in relief. “Thanks, Nej. I'll head over now then.” He hung up before sending a quick text to Naruto letting him know he was going to Neji's. After a quick drive he pulled up into the Hyuuga's driveway.
Knocking on the door, Itachi took a deep breath and tried to make himself relax. He gave a small pained smiled to Neji.
Neji shook his head, but opened the door and motioned Itachi in. He grabbed two beers from the fridge before leading Itachi up to his room. He handed one of the beers to Itachi as he settled himself in an arm chair. “I know that we didn't really get close until Naruto, but I do consider you a friend. I hate seeing you so clearly stressed out.”
Itachi sighed, his shoulders shaking as he let out a shudder while sinking into the other arm chair. “I keep worrying about if something goes wrong. What if Haku doesn't see you? What if he doesn't say anything to Madara? What if something happens to Deidara when he delivers the news? What if Madara suspects something because after months there's suddenly this information?” He groaned as he set the beer on the side table and dropped his hands into his head.
Neji frowned. “I know there are a lot of unknowns.” He leaned forward and opened his and Itachi's beer. “I know what I'm getting into. Deidara knows what he is getting into. Naruto is the only one who isn't in the middle of this, and from what I've seen and heard even Madara doesn't want to involve him more right now.”
Itachi sighed and took a sip of the beer. “I just,” he sighed. “I couldn't get controlling stake in dad's businesses because I wasn't old enough. Then I didn't care because I still got money from the shares I did have.” He looked up at Neji. “You've been doing business and you're in a position to continue running Hyuuga Corp with Hinata.”
Neji shrugged. “Are you worried about your dad's businesses if Madara isn't running them?”
Itachi looked into Neji's eyes and nodded. “Sasuke's planning on taking business classes, but he's got no real world experience and I haven't ever wanted to deal with running a business.” He paused to sip at his beer, smiling as he could feel himself starting to relax a bit in Neji's presence. “I just feel like I'm letting my dad down if neither Sasuke or I take the CEO position after we take down Madara, but neither of us is really up for it.”
Neji smiled softly and sipped his beer. “What about Hinata or myself as a VP? Sasuke can take over officially in the eyes of the public, and Hinata or I can advise him.” He bit his lip. “I could speak to Uncle. I think that given the diversity of our portfolios, a partnership of sorts could only help both sets of businesses.”
Itachi huffed out a quiet laugh. “Could you see Hinata telling Sasuke to do better? She might be one of the only people he doesn't snap at though.”
Neji smiled seeing even more of the tension draining out of Itachi's shoulders. “I know that we haven't seen a lot of each other without Naruto, but please don't feel like you have to hold this type of stuff in.” He dropped a hand on Itachi's shoulder. “With our mixed up families – Naruto, Kakashi – we're all sort of family anyway. If I can ease your burdens at all, I hope you will let me.”
Itachi smiled. “Thank you.” He exhaled harshly. “I just know we're pushing this all forward tomorrow and that is one piece we haven't really discussed because it's not central to what we've been focused on.”
Neji nodded. “Let me grab Hiashi and we can discuss the possibilities of putting a temporary CEO in place while Sasuke is finishing high school.” He stood up and headed to the door, stopping just before he headed out. “You're never alone in anything, and not because of Naruto. Because you have impressed our family on your own with the responsibilities you've taken on and the way you have pulled yourself out of the darkness.”
When Neji returned he brought Hiashi with him. Hiashi looked at the beer and the dejected slump to Itachi's shoulders and immediately decided Neji's assessment was correct. “Let's talk about your father's businesses, the ones that have been separate from Madara before.”

“Temari,” Naruto whined as Lee stood off to the side watching to be sure no one got too friendly with the blond. “I don't wanna be here. I wanna go see my friends.”
Temari shook her head with a smirk. “Why do you always whine about things you can't change?”
Naruto stuck his tongue at her. “I don't want to whine, but I'm eighteen and horny and my fiance keeps being dragged away from me.”
Naruto spun around as Lee moved between him and the long haired man that had been headed up to Naruto. His smile widened as he saw Neji. He waved Lee off. “This is my friend Neji.” He tossed his arms around Neji's neck. “I was just telling Temari I missed all my friends. What are you doing here?”
Neji indicated a couple of his college friends. “My friends wanted to go out and I figured if there was even the smallest chance I might run into you, it would be here. I haven't seen you in ages.”
Temari turned back to the bar since it was a relatively slow night, Naruto could talk a while with his friend. Maybe he would slow down his whining.
Naruto chuckled. “I know. I've been working, which is good for my wallet, but bad for my social life.” He pulled Neji to a table and sat down. “Shit, I don't want to monopolize you from your friends.”
Neji waved his hand. “I'll be spending the night with them. I haven't had time to talk to you in weeks, so it's fine.” He nudged Naruto. “You guys start making any plans yet?”
Naruto blushed and shook his head. “Nah, Itachi won't even consider it until I'm out of college. I'm fine with that, honestly. I just love knowing he loves me enough to do it someday.” Naruto saw Haku and Deidara over Neji's shoulder. He waved at them both. Although he hated that Haku hurt Hinata, it made his life easier if he just treated the man cordially. Deidara was a different story though. He had no idea what the man did, but he really liked him.
Neji glanced over his shoulder and glared at Haku. He quirked his brow together and turned back to Naruto. “What is Yami doing with Haku?”
Now it was Naruto's turn to look confused. “Who is Yami? I was waving at Diedara – and Haku just happened to be there.”
Neji looked back, but Haku and Deidara had entered Madara's office. “Maybe it was the wrong person. I could have sworn that was my Uncle's new assistant Yami. He's been working with our mergers and seems really upstanding. I mean, he passed background checks, so he shouldn't be here. He's got such a distinct look though. I can't imagine there are many people who could be confused with him.”
Naruto shrugged. “Don't know what to tell you other than that was definitely Deidara. He's working with Madara, but no idea on what. Honestly, he's pretty funny. Temari's brother thought Dei was my older brother. Honestly, there's no similarities other than we're both blond.”
Temari had come up behind Naruto and Neji. “And airheads.” She chuckled as Naruto glared at her. “Need you to run the dance floor, Naruto. Sorry I couldn't give you more of a break.”
Naruto shrugged as he stood with Neji. “I'll come visit soon. I miss you and Hinata.” He turned toward the dance floor and waved Lee over. Neji frowned as Temari stood beside him for a while. She raised an eyebrow as she leaned in close. “I'm not sure if you need more than whatever look Haku gave you, but I can always drop part of that conversation in Madara's ear if you want.”
Neji assessed the dirty blond in front of him. From what little he could remember she was there to keep her brother out of prison. She may not be a fan either. He gave a slight nod to his head. “Can we get a round of Jag?” he indicated his three friends who had just joined him at his table.
She nodded. “Sure thing, honey.”
*****
“Shit,” Haku cursed under his breath.
Deidara frowned, “I didn't think I was that bad of company.”
Haku shook his head. “Neji is at the bar talking to Naruto and he saw you with me.” He groaned as he went through the door with Deidara following him. “Kisame, get Temari to come over with drinks in a few minutes.”
Deidara shrugged. “I'll tell him I was never here if he asks. He couldn't have seen us for more than a split second right? I have their trust. I'll tell him it must have been someone who looks like me.”
Madara shook his head as Haku and Deidara walked in. “What happened?”
Haku frowned and took his place next to Madara. “Neji is in the club. He saw Deidara with me.” He groaned. “Deidara will deny being here, but this could be bad. If he figures out Deidara is a plant, he might involve law enforcement and I don't know how much interference Sai could run on our behalf without tipping his hat.”
Madara sighed. “Well maybe we can pull you anyway if this information you have is strong enough. He might suspect, but at least you wouldn't be in a position to be investigated.”
Deidara smirked. “Hyuuga messed up for sure.” He handed the documents to Madara. “I don't know how Neji didn't catch this, since he was supposed to be double checking Charlene's work.”
Madara smirked as he looked over the paperwork. “This I can use.” He chuckled. “I'm pulling you out, Deidara. You just won't go back to the company. They will suspect, but since none of the information about you was real, you will be safe.”
Deidara shrugged. “I'm going to have to hang out here until I know he's gone though. He'll be looking to see if it was me.”
Madara nodded. Kisame opened the door and let Temari in. “Drinks, boss.” She handed each man his beverage of choice. When she came to Madara she stopped. “Just thought you should know one of Naruto's friends asked Naruto why Deidara was here – but he used some other name.”
Madara frowned. “What did Naruto say?”
She shrugged. “Said he wasn't who the guy thought he was. That he was Deidara and that he was nice even though he works here.” She smirked, “He has your number so wrong, eh?”
Deidara chuckled. “That kid could find the good in a mass murderer.” He sighed. “How'd his friend respond when Naruto said all that?”
Temari shrugged again. “He said he was probably wrong. Didn't get a good look at him cuz it was only a couple seconds.”
Madara nodded and dismissed her. “For certain we need to keep you here until he left, but maybe we keep you planted. The info you brought me is good, but there has to be more now that you found this and I don't think I can drop the whole corporation on this one.”
Haku frowned. “We'll need to be more careful before you come in. I knew Neji was friends with Naruto but I didn't expect to see him here.”
Deidara shrugged. “Probably hasn't seen the kid in forever given the hours he works. It's not a secret that he works here either, so probably took a chance.”
Haku sighed as he stood from his chair next to Madara's desk. “I'm going to go out and scout. Maybe I can make him feel uncomfortable so he'll leave.”
Madara stood and wrapped his arms around Haku's waist. “Little Minx,” he whispered, “No confrontations in my club that could possibly get him a lifetime ban and make Deidara's entrances safe.”
Haku chuckled and nodded. “I certainly wouldn't want to do that.”
***********
Neji huffed as he was escorted out of the club by some security guard. Internally though, he smirked. They had spooked them at least a bit if they were making sure he wouldn't be around to get a better look at Deidara. Now they just needed to find a way to get a public confrontation. Seriously those Nara brains were scary.
Naruto jogged out of the club and pouted when he saw Neji. “I'm sorry, Neji. I didn't think Haku would start anything like that. It's just, he's usually pretty quiet when he comes out of the office and I guess he saw you and got mad at himself or something. I don't know.” He sighed. “It's not fair. You didn't do anything. He started that fight. He hurt your sister and he's the asshole and it's not fair.”
Neji chuckled. “Take your bodyguard there and go back inside, Naruto. I don't mind being kicked out of somewhere that the asshole who hurts my sister works. I will just miss seeing you. We'll have to get together sometime when you're not working.”
Naruto pouted, but then he gave Neji a quick hug and turned around to head back inside. He stopped just inside the door and waved before heading back inside. Naruto looked around and saw Haku at the bar with Temari. He marched up and managed, somehow, to keep his voice under some semblance of control. “You knew how he'd react to you. Why didn't you just avoid him?”
Haku turned around, his face the perfect picture of regret, but his eyes were shrewd. “I didn't mean to, but I was just so upset. I wanted him to forgive me because I need to know Hinata could forgive me.”
Naruto pouted, if Haku wanted to play a game so could he. “So instead, you get in a fist fight with someone you know could kick your ass. We've been friends a long time, Haku. I know out of all us Neji is the best at Judo. He used to wipe the floor with all our asses when we were in lessons together.”
Haku's shoulders slumped. “I wasn't thinking.” He turned back to Temari. “When Deidara leaves, will you please make sure no one bothers us? Kisame is getting the same instructions.”
Temari nodded. “Yeah, can do, Boss man.”
Naruto sighed and watched Haku go back to Madara's office. He turned to Temari. “Pretty sure they are all keeping me in the dark about something, but I suppose it's for my own good. I can't keep my mouth shut to save my soul.”
Temari chuckled and patted his head. “Gaara said he's gonna ask Kankuro to bring him over tomorrow.” She smiled and shrugged. “I'm glad he's taken to you. He doesn't really have a lot of friends, and maybe you can help keep him out of trouble.”
