Naruto sighed; his head was pounding and who the hell knew it was so damn difficult to sit in a car with nine fox tails?! His ears pulled back against his head in frustration as he placed his cell phone to his twitching fox ear; luckily the unfamiliar voice of the receptionist at the University invaded his senses before he got frustrated. He rubbed at his temples; impatiently sitting in his car just outside the theatre where he had just finished his practice. He had dropped his henge now; breathing freely. He didn't like the feeling of the chakra that crawled over skin in a continuous stream. He was just happy that he had gone for the tinted windows in his car. That reminded him; him and Minato still had to christen the car with their love...

"Excuse me? Is anyone there?" Shit! Naruto had been so caught in his thoughts that he didn't hear the receptionist or notice when she asked him something.

"Yes; this is Uzumaki Naruto. I'm not coming in today. I need you to track down Namikaze Minato; he's spending his day in the library studying. He will be with his little brother Namikaze Kakashi."

"Yes Professor; do you a have a message that needs to be delivered?" Naruto sighed; he really hated formal phone calls.

"Yes; tell him. I'll be at home and he may stay as long as he wants. He can reach me at home if there is an emergency."

"Yes Professor; have a good day." Naruto sighed; thank Kami that the University permitted him to take days off before his performances with orchestras but then again he was given many privileges just because he 'looked' like a painting that decorated the halls of the University. They had thought he was related to the nobleman that had established the University when no one knew that it was really him in that painting in the first place.

"Better get back to the house." Naruto said with a sigh; slipping his phone into his pocket. His ears twitching with annoyance as it fell from his fingers and beneath the seats. After some fumbling Naruto found it and placed on the centre console. Good; now to get home and some much needed sleep.

The water brushed against his skin pleasantly. Naruto had drawn himself a nice warm bath and just managed to fit all his tails into the tub; the new appendages were easy to get use to it. It was like they were ingrained in his bodies movements; he had not broken a glass or a plate when he turned around. It was like it was just another part of his body; Naruto wouldn't lie. They felt so nice; could express so much more emotions than a simple facial expression. Naruto never knew that fox fur could be that warm and soft and who knew that a colour such as that existed. They were gold; a bit darker than his hair and the pure white tips made them look that much more like they were a part of him.

Naruto had to admit; he was not looking forward to the fight with Minato that he knew was coming. It is after all not everyday that your son decides to break a seal and release a demon whilst gaining nine fox tails and fox ears in the process. Earlier it was amusing for Naruto but now it made fear settle in his stomach. What if Minato would not like him like this? Naruto stared at his wrists; blue eyes following the two ugly scars. Well there was always that; but Naruto couldn't do that to Minato again. Naruto sighed; he missed the comments Kyuubi used to make in his mind. He could feel the large fox's chakra still at the shrine; still hidden in that room. He was probably fast asleep.

"I wonder just what can be done with these?" Naruto asked himself; his voice bouncing off the walls and making his ears turn in every direction to follow the sound. Two of his tails responded to his curiosity and watched fascinated as one trailed up his thigh and the other stroked his back; the wet fur making him hiss.

"Whoa! Whoa! We'll save that for Minato." Naruto said; a blush settling across his nose. The sudden heaviness in his head made him realize that it was time for his late morning nap; he was tired after all. Crawling from the bath and drying himself the best he could with tails whipping around him and seeming to puff out after all nine of them were dry. He chuckled; wondering what Kyuubi would look like if he was thrown into a lake. Would his fur puff up as well?

Careful footsteps took him towards his bed; only silk sleep pants adorning his body. He wasn't planning on going anywhere; why not just fall into bed and sleep until the next day when he was needed again in the land of the living again? With a yawn; slightly sharpened canines glinted in the midday sun light before Naruto crawled into his bed. The covers were uncomfortably warm so instead Naruto crawled on top of the silk duvet; turning on his stomach and closing blue eyes. Nine golden tails coming to rest all around him; one even brushed against his neck before resting next to him. A sigh of contentment falling from tired lips.

Minato was worried; something seemed off. The moment he had woken up that morning he had this inkling feeling of dread settling in his stomach. Biting his lower lip; the words on the page were swimming in and out of focus. He expanded his senses; Naruto was too far to pick up his chakra signature but what confused him was the spike he felt of Kyuubi's chakra brushing up against his.

"Kyuubi?" Minato was puzzled; that potent chakra was so much brighter and stronger than he had ever felt and it was definitely calm. So the fox was asleep but why was he close enough to sense and not Naruto? He did not like the things that came to mind.

"Nii-san?" Minato snapped his attention back towards his brother who was sitting in the chair opposite him. A strange woman standing in front of him.

"Sorry;" Minato smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his neck; completely oblivious to the little blush that spread on the woman's cheeks. "What is it?" he asked. It looked like she was there to tell them something, like a messenger.

"Namikaze-san?"

"Yes?" Minato was confused now; had something happened to Naruto?

"Professor Uzumaki phoned a few hours ago. He requested that I tell you that he will be home and that if there is an emergency then you can reach him there. He also said that you may stay as long as you want and finish what you are busy with." Now Minato was really worried; Naruto would never need to leave a message with a stranger; hell Naruto had said that he would be coming back the moment he finished and would find him in the library. He stared at the clock on the wall; 14:30. Naruto would definitely have been here by now unless something had gone wrong.

"Thanks." Minato said dismissively; hand immediately curling around Kakashi's. He needed t get home now; Naruto could be in serious danger or had decided to do something stupid again. His heart clenched; anything but that again. Minato did not think he would be able to live through such a tragedy again.

"Nii-san? Is Naruto-sensei in trouble?" Kakashi's voice snapped Minato from that painful memory bathed in so much of his blood. He gave a small smile for his little brother before he took off towards the train station. He needed to get home; hopping that something hadn't gone wrong. This was the first time Naruto had ever broken a promise with him and something about it didn't sit right with him.

"I think Naruto can look after himself Kashi; but let's go home anyways." A small silver head bobbed his affirmative.

"Tadiama!" Minato said as he entered through the front door; Kakashi a few steps behind him. He shuddered; the house was rife with chakra. It leaked everywhere and such a potent mix of chakra that it made him blink in order to focus; it was heavy and it was definitely Naruto's. He could never dismiss that warmth, compassionate and sorrow filled feeling. But what would make Naruto expel so much chakra? Had something happened?

"Kakashi; go get yourself something to drink. I'm going to look for Naruto." Minato said with a wave over his shoulder; his heart leaping in his throat. What if something had happened? His footsteps were loud in his ears; blood rushing in his veins and making his head spin. He couldn't feel any malicious chakra or any danger but Madara was such a crafty bastard. He shuddered; hand curling around the door handle. Heart clenching as the door swung open; the smell that assaulted him made him dizzy. It was heady and sweet. What made him freeze in steps and made his blood still in his veins was the sight that greeted him.

"Na-Na-ruto?" He stuttered. Blinking rapidly; was his mind deceiving him? He had never seen a more shocking and beautiful sight. The sunlight was streaming in from the window, alighting Naruto's form. He was curled around a pillow; head turned to the side, lips slightly parted as nine golden fox tails were splayed around him. Those ears twitched at the sounds he made but Naruto made no move of stirring.

No matter the beauty he saw; there was definitely something wrong. He rushed forward; his heart lodging in his throat. He laid his hand on Naruto's shoulder and shook it lightly.

"Naruto! Hey Naruto! Wake up!" He flailed backwards when four tails pushed him back harshly and a surprised noise spilled from Naruto; it was close to a chocked scream and a gasp. Before he could move he felt Naruto's weight settle on top of him. Blue eyes wide with fear and concern. He raised a trembling hand upwards; he wanted to make sure it was real. His finger touched the fox ear; it twitched before pulling back against a blonde head.

"W-what?" He asked bewildered; he saw blue eyes turning away in shame before Naruto's weight lifted from him and he watched as Naruto retreated until he was backed up against the back wall. The guilt he felt radiating off of Naruto made him do a double take; those arms curled around Naruto's waist to provide self comfort as nine fox tails whipped restlessly behind Naruto. The wind that danced across his skin brought his mind back to the present.

"Naruto? What did you do?" Minato said with a slight tinge of fear. He could see the black seal visible on Naruto's stomach but something about it was off; it wasn't radiating any chakra. Hell; it didn't even respond to his chakra. He walked forward; brow furrowing as Naruto seemed to shrink into himself. The sight made him want to cringe.

"Naruto?!" Minato snapped; worry lacing his words.

"I'm sorry, Minato." Minato saw tears shimmer in blue eyes but they stubbornly refused to fall.

"Why are you sorry? Is this Kyuubi's doing?" Minato moved closer; stopping in front of Naruto. Fingers curling around Naruto's chin and pulling the shorted blonde's face upwards. The emotion he saw swirling in those blue eyes were so intense that he found himself getting lost in those emotional depths. He took a shuddering breath; his forehead resting on Naruto's in a show of comfort. If this was Kyuubi's doing then Minato was going to kill that fox.

"N-no." Minato frowned; the softly spoken word nearly escaping his hearing.

"What?"

"It wasn't Kyuubi." Naruto said and Minato picked up on the resolve in those blue eyes. Minato frowned for nth time that day.

"What do you mean it wasn't Kyuubi's fault? How else could this have happened?"

"I did it." Minato sucked in a shocked breath. His Naruto had done this? How? Why?

"I released the seal."

"YOU WHAT?!" Minato was stunned. Fear lashing through his body; Naruto could have been killed. No; why the hell was Naruto still alive in the first place and where was that stupid fox? Thousands of question all who required a vital answer were swirling in his mind. Information overload was making him dizzy with fear and anger. Naruto would do something so stupid? It was then that Minato noticed Naruto had clenched his eyes shut in fear of the anger he was giving off.

"Naruto; talk to me. Why?" Minato voice was desperate; he needed to know.

"I need his full power by my side when Madara finally comes out of hiding. Mine alone would not be enough." What Minato said angered him; Naruto wasn't expecting him to fight? But he trusted the fox to be by his side. It hurt; that small insignificant word.

"Naruto! How can I not fight?! You should know that I will not allow you to do this by yourself!"

"You think I don't know that?! Fuck Minato; you don't seem to understand! Madara is not someone to take lightly; hell he nearly killed me the last time I clashed and that was after a full merge with Kyuubi. It took me months to recover; nearly an entire year before I was well enough to be instated to my proper rank. Me; Minato. A jinchuuriki; a demon container who had just sacrificed his mortality to save Konoha." Minato watched as Naruto ran out of steam; his breath becoming a long and wary sigh. Minato could see the tears steadily drip from blue eyes; Naruto's words were having an effect on him.

"You by my side; gives me strength, love and protection. I will have you fighting by my side Minato but I need Kyuubi as well; there is no way in hell that only me and you will be able to win this fight. If I hadn't done this; one of us would have ended up dead and the other severely injured." Minato was stunned to silence.

"If you think I want to watch you die for me a second time; forget about it. I will not hesitate to open these again; Minato." Naruto indicated to the scars running vertically up his wrists almost to his forearms. One of his tails wrapping around his wrist before curling around Minato's hand in a gentle touch.

"Naruto;" Minato said softly; leaning forward. Hiding his nose in Naruto's neck; immediately those tails wrapped around his waist to bring them closer together. When Naruto looked so desperate and sad Minato couldn't even feel a tinge of the anger that had invaded his senses mere moments ago.

"Why do you take everything upon yourself?" Minato's voice sounded broken even to his own ears. He could feel Naruto give a chocked sob before fingers fisted in his shirt. Soft, distressed sounds spilling from parted pink lips.

"B-because I can't bare to watch as you give your life for me and leaving me behind again. Please don't be angry."

"Naruto;" Blue eyes clouded in many different emotions shifted to understanding before dulling again. Minato sighed; lips placing a chaste kiss on parted pink lips. The kiss was both a promise of affection and forgiveness; lips parted for him and Minato sighed. This was still Naruto; it was still his Naruto. His beloved, his son, his lover and his most precious person. The kiss was soft; languid and loving. An expression of the connection that ran through their veins.

"I'm not sure what I should feel right now but I know that I cannot stay angry at you for long. I'm just upset that you didn't ask me first; I could have helped you. Mind you, how the hell did you manage it without me noticing? I'm sure that chakra flare would have been enough to wake the entirety of Konoha had it still been standing."

"I erected a barrier; sealed the room in the shrine and had Enma enclose the space for extra protection."

"You summoned Enma? The Monkey King?" Minato asked; his eyebrows lifting in surprise.

"Yup; Enma was there. Gerotora, Pakkun and Katsuyu. I gained all their contracts over the years although I only stay faithful to the Toads; since I've been with them for the longest." Minato merely stared; he had never heard of a shinobi holding two summoning contracts not four in total. Minato watched as Naruto's blue eyes widened in surprise before a laugh spilled from his lips.

"I can't believe I haven't thought of this sooner." Naruto said.

"Think of what sooner?" Minato frowned; just what was Naruto on about? Before he could stop Naruto he saw delicate hands flash through a series of seals; marking appeared on the ground as a puff of smoke drifted through the room.

"Yo; Boss. What do you need me for?" Droopy eyes stared up at Naruto; nose twitching as Pakkun leapt closer to Naruto. Jumping onto Naruto's shoulder before hanging there with his little paws. Dark eyes staring at Minato with confusion and laziness.

"What's up Yondaime?" Naruto chuckled. His previous emotional state pushed far back into his mind. He didn't want to think about the emotions that had stained him mere moments ago, anger, hurt, pain and fear. Minato had always been able to produce very different emotions in him but that single kiss had told him what he had never thought would happen and made him forget all the guilt and fear that built through him. It told he had been forgiven...

"Naruto?" Blue eyes turned to the side; two tails pushing the pug up his shoulder. Pakkun was loosing his purchase on Naruto's bare shoulder.

"Minato; this is Pakkun. He was Kakashi-sensei's summons and served him faithfully throughout several hundred missions. Kakashi was an amazing ANBU tracker; all with the help this little one's nose." Pakkun raised a paw in greeting.

"This is all fine and all with the introductions but Naruto; why am I here. Did something happen last night after I left? I could have sworn you did not have nine fox tails and fox ears then."

"You could say something's happened but that is not important right now. I have a mission for you." Droopy eyes blinked and Naruto smiled; hands placing the pug on the ground.

"I need you to find Kakashi and look after him; he needs a friend and I'm sure you can be that friend." Pakkun nodded before bounding out the room; eager to look for his master. Naruto turned towards Minato and saw conflicting emotions shimmer in depthless blue eyes. It was a sight to behold; he stepped forward. Placed a kiss on Minato's lips as he pulled the Namikaze heir into a fierce embrace; his tails wrapping around both of them in a tender show of love.

"I love you; Minato-Koi." Naruto said softly; Minato's scent drifting in his nose and refusing to leave him. Arms pulled him closer as a blonde head rested on his head pleasantly. Small puffs of breath making his ears turn to flatten against his head; it was ticklish.

"Don't ever do something so reckless again." Naruto gave a solemn nod; he really wasn't planning on doing something like that again. He didn't think he would be able to resist the high amount of pain that had come with releasing his demon tenant. After a while Naruto pulled back; schooling his features as he pulled back. Chakra enveloping Minato and him before Naruto looked into Minato's eyes; heart warming at the gentle love he saw there.

"Will you still come watch me play tomorrow?" Naruto asked uncertainly. He saw Minato give a nod before the elder Namikaze slipped behind Naruto and pulled him against a strong chest.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world; plus Kakashi will be there. I just hope they let in little pugs though." Naruto chuckled. Leaning back into the embrace.

"Good; because there will be a surprise there for you."
