Part 2
"If that is how the creatures of our nightmares look like, I cannot wait to fall asleep tonight," Ino exclaimed, leaning forwards eagerly. "You never mentioned just how good-looking the prince is!"
"That is because I didn't know," Sakura spoke through gritted teeth once she'd thrown off the stupor under which she had fallen. She clenched her hands to fists and pressed them against her sides so her ire wouldn't be that noticeable.
How on earth was this possible? Why did rumours talk about hideous monsters when the prince was anything but that? He looked shaped by the gods themselves with his pure black hair, spiked in the back and a fringe covering his left eye; his alabaster pale skin, free from any sort of blemish; his dark eyes, intense even with this distance between them. He was a far cry from being hideous, so how was it possible? Where had those rumours come from?
"Did you – did you not see him during your brother's wedding, my lady?" Hinata asked tentatively, flinching when Sakura scowled at her before schooling her face into a neutral mask again.
"No, I did not. I did not attend his wedding and tonight is the first time he has set foot here since he left for his courtship," she explained, forcing herself to sound as calm as possible. "Excuse me, please, there is someone I need to speak to."
"Really, I'd say that Naruto has done quite well for himself," Ino mused aloud; her gaze still fixated on the pair while Hinata looked uncertainly between her and Sakura as the princess walked away.
Lady Temari smiled when she saw Sakura approaching her. Turning away from another lady belonging to the Hyuuga clan with a soft murmur of apology, she said, "Good evening, my lady. My best wishes for your birthday."
"Thank you, Lady Temari," Sakura said politely and folded her hands together in front of her. "I wanted to ask you something, if you do not mind."
The blonde woman blinked. "Of course not, ask away, my lady."
"Did you not hear about the rumours regarding the Uchiha family?" she asked promptly, forgoing the subtleness her father had instilled in her years ago. She was too angry, too shocked to play the subtle game. What she needed, were answers and she wanted them now.
Lady Temari tilted her head faintly to the right before her eyes briefly flickered over towards the prince in question. At once comprehension flitted across her face before she schooled it back into a formal mask. "Yes, I did hear those rumours, my lady."
"Clearly those rumours were false, were they not?" Sakura smiled thinly, discreetly gesturing at the pair who were greeting the king and queen at the moment.
"Indeed they were," Lady Temari confirmed; her voice neutral. "I did mention they were nothing but rumours when I spoke to you back then."
"You told me to be careful when deciding whether to accept Prince Sasuke's hand or not! You deceived me!" Sakura hissed, barely keeping her tone low enough. She reared back in shock when Lady Temari clucked her tongue.
Eyes noticeably becoming cooler, she spoke frostily, "Do mind your tongue, my lady. For you might be a princess, but you are but one of the allies my family has and frankly, our other allies are far greater than your kingdom might ever hope to be. I clearly stated back then that what I had heard were mere rumours and I could not provide any evidence save for what I had heard. It was your choice to deny his hand, your choice to exchange your place with that of Prince Naruto. Do not blame me for the unfortunate decision you happened to make. Now if you will excuse me, I have to greet Prince Sasuke and Prince Naruto."
She strode away before permission could even be given and it took every last bit of restraint Sakura could find in her to not scream aloud and smash the multitude of glistening glasses on the table next to her to smithereens.
Who did Lady Temari think she was, acting all haughty and smug as if she were better than her? She was still just a noblewoman, not of royal birth like Sakura was, and if anyone had to mind her tongue, it would be her!
She would make her regret her big mouth! A greater ally than the Haruno kingdom? Please!
First, however, she needed to solve the issue of Prince Sasuke's appearance.
She had seen Naruto leaving the hall briefly and taking advantage of the guests being distracted by the dance, she quickly left the hall as well, spotting him turning the corner. That way led to the privy and she decided to wait for him nearby. The conversation they needed to have was three years overdue and she would make sure that he wouldn't leave here without having confessed everything.
"My lady, are you all right?" one of the guards asked concerned. He was one of the younger ones, ordered to stand guard outside the hall.
"Yes, of course, I just need a bit of fresh air. It is a bit stuffy inside, that's all," Sakura replied airily and strode past him.
"Do I need to call one of the guards to – "
"No need for that, I won't be gone for long. I just am in want of a bit of time to myself."
Her heels were muffled against the deep blue carpet as she continued her way to the privy, determined not to let Naruto escape. She had only spoken to him once tonight when he and Prince Sasuke had come up to her to give her their wishes. In spite of the anger still coursing through her veins she had nearly swooned when Prince Sasuke had spoken to her in a deep husky voice. That interaction, short as it had been, just made her more determined to set things right. For Naruto might be a prince in title, but she was a princess in blood and that gave her privileges he would never be able to enjoy.
Fortunately the privy was quite secluded, ensuring that nobody would interrupt and she settled down on a nearby bench, impatiently awaiting Naruto's return. He better not make her wait too long, because with every minute that passed without a proper explanation, her ire only grew and grew, simmering within her and ready to explode when given the right incentive.
The door of the privy opening echoed throughout the corridor and she turned her head, watching him adjust the cuffs of his sleeves before he looked up. He visibly startled when his gaze fell upon her; something which satisfied her somewhat and she rose up, raising an eyebrow as he tentatively approached her.
"Sakura, I did not expect to see you here. The privy is empty," he told her lightly and finally stopped fiddling with his cuffs.
"I do not need to use the privy, I was waiting here to talk to you," she said and subtly shifted so that she was standing in the midst of the corridor, blocking off a proper escape route.
Her move hadn't escaped his notice and his eyebrows drew together faintly. "Talk? About what? Can this not wait until we're back at the hall? You are missing out on your own celebration."
"I do not care for that right now," she said, a tad impatient. "Should it not be obvious what I want to talk about? Why did you not tell me how Prince Sasuke really looks like?"
His frown deepened. "When would I have had the chance? Most of our courting happened in his kingdom and he only revealed his true appearance to me on the day of our wedding."
"You should have put a stop to the wedding as soon as he revealed himself," she stated annoyed and brushed a loose curl of her hair out of her face.
"Why would I have needed to do that? The courting was ended with the agreement to wed and so - "
"Because this is not your rightful place," she cut him off. "He asked for my hand in marriage first and as soon as he revealed himself, you should have stepped aside and let me take up the rightful place of his spouse!"
"Rightful place?" he repeated coldly; his blue eyes shuttering close. "Need I remind you, my dear sister, that you forfeited every right to be called his when you decided to refuse his hand in marriage merely because of some rumours? You, who paid more attention to rumours than to finding out the truth yourself, convinced your father to sacrifice me instead, like an offer to the gods. You and your parents decided that your happiness was more important than mine, forcing me to wed someone I had never met before and now you think you have the right to stand in front of me and demand that I give up my place as Sasuke's spouse to you? Have you had too much wine, sister?"
"Hold your tongue!" she snapped and flushed. "How dare you use that tone to me when my parents and I have been nothing but good to you, even taking you in as our own when your parents – "
"Good to me?" Naruto's cold laughter silenced her abruptly and she stared at him. "Keep living in that fantasy world of yours, but do not drag me into it. Neither you nor your parents have been good to me in the sense you claim!"
"How dare you say that!" she exclaimed outraged. "When our parents took you in and treated you like their own son!"
She tensed when he took a step closer. "Treated me like their own son?" he repeated in a dangerous tongue; his eyes flashing and his cheeks reddening. "If they treated me like their own son, they would never have forced me to be courted by a complete stranger all to keep their daughter happy. If they treated me like their son, they would have been honest to me about what had happened to my real parents!"
"What are you talking about? Your parents died because they were ill, surely your brain hasn't become that frazzled yet by living in another kingdom that you don't remember that," she sneered.
"They died because your parents refused to summon Healers!" he hissed furiously and balled his fists. "You think this kingdom was the only one to be struck by that terrible illness? Get your head out of the clouds! Every kingdom was hit by it but they all called upon Healers to take care of the ill and they all survived! But your parents refused to summon them, because - "
"Of course they refused to summon them!" She laughed in disbelief. "You seriously think our parents would summon evil witches like Healers truly are? Imagine the absolute outrage if they had done that! We do not need evil creatures who prey upon naïve souls and make them believe they can heal what doctors cannot. I know you had trouble grasping our lessons when we were children, but surely you would know better than to assume vile witches would know more about healing than our doctors do!"
"The only evil, vile creatures I see are you and your parents," Naruto spoke quietly; his eyes dark and empty. "The king and queen left my parents to suffer and die, because they thought they knew better than the Healers of olden days. They threw me away like I was nothing but a pawn after you went crying to them because the gods forbid you ever do anything that you dislike! You tossed me away like I was nothing but garbage, a stepping stool for your ambitions, and now you stand here and think you have the right to demand that I give up the man I love all because you realised he's not that hideous creature you accused him of being?"
He snorted harshly and looked at her venomously. "I have always known you to be rather airheaded, but surely not even you are this stupid to assume that I would just step aside and let you marry my husband. Like he would even want someone as superficial as you," he said scornfully.
Sakura saw red. How dare that lowlife stand there and accuse her and her family of such horrible things when he should be damned grateful for all that they had done for him! She knew they should have just dumped him with one of the servants, because what did scum like him know about the pride that came with royal blood? Calling upon the help of witches just to save some servants? Did he think his parents were more important than the safety of the entire kingdom? They had been nothing but mere servants and he should be happy that they had accepted him as one of their own!
"Now, if you will excuse me, I will be returning to my husband," Naruto said coldly. "I wish you luck with the rest of your life, sister, and your quest to find a husband, though if you ask me, any man with even a lick of common sense will be better off staying clear from you. Gods bless whoever is unfortunate enough to end up with you."
"HOW DARE YOU!" she shrieked outraged and her hand shot out, ready to slap him that sneer off his face.
A shock went through her when her wrist was snatched mid-air and she whimpered when fingers tightened harshly around it, squeezing her wrist painfully. She gasped shocked when she was forcibly turned around, nearly loosing her footing, and froze when she came face to face with a very enraged Prince Sasuke.
"Did my eyes deceive me or were you about to strike my husband?" he asked icily; his black eyes glowing almost unholy with fury.
"I wasn't – I didn't mean - " she stammered, fear making her clamp up, her throat slipping close until nary a word escaped her.
"No? So your hand just happened to shoot out in his direction?" Prince Sasuke mocked, but there was no trace of amusement on his face, let alone in his voice and fingers tightened even further, her muscles screaming in protest. "I could have your head for this, princess or not. Our kingdom will not suffer your insolence; you think your army can take ours head on?"
She could only stare at him, fear wrapping its ugly heavy tendrils around her, and she started trembling, scared out of her mind that she had just caused a war to unfold. Strong as the Haruno army was, they were no match for the mighty Uchiha army. Her kingdom would fall before dawn on the seventh day would break.
"Do no bother, Sasuke," Naruto sighed wearily and walked straight past her, sliding his arms around Prince Sasuke's free arm.
"She tried to harm you," Prince Sasuke said coldly, his unrelenting gaze not leaving hers. "She needs to be punished for that. The Haruno kingdom has to realise that they are far from being infallible."
"She's not worth the effort," Naruto disagreed and pursed his lips. "Our army would just be wasting their time and energy, which can be better spent elsewhere."
"You're asking for mercy on her behalf?" Prince Sasuke raised an eyebrow, a sneer lingering across his mouth.
The blond man wrinkled his nose. "No, certainly not. However, I do not want to waste even more time here than I already had to. She is not worth our time, our effort nor our attention. She's nothing," he insisted.
The words so callously spoken, so cruelly had her opening her mouth, in spite of knowing better, but before she could retort, Prince Sasuke turned towards her again and spoke in a low, but not less threatening voice, "If you or anyone in your kingdom ever does so much as look at my husband again in any sort of bad way, you will discover first hand why our army is the mightiest in existence."
He sneered and threw down her hand as if it were some kind of filthy vermin. "You are lucky that I do not want to upset my husband. You will not be lucky a second time. Keep that in mind next time you think you're better than him."
They walked away without another glance backwards, leaving her standing in the corridor.
She'd never felt so small and puny before.
"Do you ever regret marrying me?"
Naruto sighed softly, waving off his personal maid when she straightened out the shoulders of his nightshirt. She bowed, bid him goodnight and left the room with another bow to Sasuke, who acknowledged it with a nod. He knew they would be having this conversation. Sasuke had been rather stilted on their journey back home after the confrontation with Sakura, but the presence of guards had kept him silent.
Until now.
Turning around to face his husband, Naruto remarked, "Have I ever given you the impression that I regret marrying you?"
Sasuke stood so stiffly near their bed that looking at him made Naruto's own muscles hurt. "You were not given a choice in the matter," he said austerely.
"It is true that I was not given a choice," Naruto acquiesced and walked over the prince. "And I spent quite a while feeling hurt and frustrated that her happiness and wants were considered more important than mine. But then I started to get to know you better. The moment I heard your laugh was the moment I started to fall in love with you. I haven't looked back since and I've got no shred of remorse for my fate."
"I'm sorry if you ever felt deceived that I didn't reveal my face until our wedding day," Sasuke said stiffly; his hands balled on either side.
"You never deceived me. You were honest about your intentions from the start," Naruto reminded him.
He didn't know all the rumours that had been spread about the Uchiha family. He had heard some of them whispered by the Haruno staff as they had been preparing for Sasuke's arrival back then, how the unwedded Uchiha members never revealed their face in public and kept themselves cloaked around people not belonging to their inner circle.
"So it is true that you keep your face hidden," Naruto remarked, studying the cloaked man in front of him.
Barely three days ago had he been informed of the fact that he would be wedded to the youngest Uchiha prince. Now he was already here, standing in front of him, dressed in the heaviest pair of robes Naruto had ever seen and his face hidden in the shadows of his hood.
Two of the prince's personal guards were standing five feet behind them and they did not hide their faces at all. The guard with orange hair had a blank face even as he stood there rigidly, while the lanky, white haired man had a smirk constantly dancing around his mouth, as if he were amused by the proceedings. Sometimes he would grin quickly, revealing a set of sharp teeth and from the corner of his eye, Naruto could see their own guards shifting uneasily every time.
"Yes, it is," Prince Sasuke replied, his deep voice resonating.
"Is there a reason for it? I do not mean to offend you, Your Highness, but do you seek to remain hidden for the rest of your life?" Naruto inquired, ignoring the queen's reproachful look.
They were the ones forcing him to take up Sakura's place, they could deal with him asking legitimate questions. If he were to be forced to marry someone, he at least wanted to know how they looked like.
"I do not intend to keep myself hidden from you forever, no," Prince Sasuke replied and was that a hint of amusement Naruto detected? "However, when we decide to wed, I want you to marry me for who I am and not for how I look. Until then I will not reveal myself to you, though I dearly hope you won't take offense to that."
Blue eyes narrowed slightly, eyeing the prince critically. Were the rumours true then about his supposed hideousness? Was he truly so ugly that he did not dare to reveal his true appearance until he was certain of the other one's affections?
Then again, what really was considered to be hideous? What was ugly to one person was a source of beauty to someone else and if Prince Sasuke were to treat him right, would it really matter how he looked like?
"I suppose I cannot take offense in that as long as you promise you will reveal yourself to me eventually," Naruto stated.
The king stepped forwards then, shaking his head compassionately. "Our apologies for his blunt speech, Your Highness. He is still receiving lessons in the art of delicate language."
Naruto scowled at him, barely holding his tongue. Perhaps he would have finished those lessons already if most of his tutors were not so quick to abandon him to attend to the one of the princess' whims!
"No need to apologise, I understand his concerns," Prince Sasuke said calmly and that seemed to stun the king for a moment. Turning his attention back to Naruto, the prince bowed slightly. "I hope through our courtship that I will prove myself enough that you are willing to wait until I feel ready to reveal myself."
Never once during their courtship had Naruto seen his future intended's face; the whole staff working hard to ensure that Naruto would never catch Sasuke without a mask or a hood on. In the beginning it had annoyed him, he could admit that, because after being forced to take Sakura's place after she'd gone whining to her father, he at least wanted to know how the man he was going to spend the rest of his life with actually looked like.
But as the weeks had shifted into months and they began to know each other more and more, Naruto had discovered that Sasuke's masks and hoods no longer irritated him. Regardless of the fact that he couldn't see the prince's face, Sasuke had always treated him right and gentle, assuring him over and over again that Naruto could break the courtship at any moment if he so desired.
By the time their wedding day had arrived, Naruto had fallen in love with Sasuke's quick and sharp wit, his beautiful laugh, and his occasional bout of mischief whenever he decided to harass his older brother. His looks had become secondary in importance, because it no longer mattered whether he was hideous or handsome because he treated Naruto with so much love and respect that some nights Naruto had become overwhelmed by them, finding himself drowning in the attention aimed solely at him.
In spite of being a replacement, Sasuke had never treated him as a second choice. He had never made Naruto feel like he was lesser than him, that he wasn't good enough. For someone who had grown up with the reminder that he would always be second best to the actual heiress of the throne, Sasuke's genuine attention had left him floundering a lot, wondering at times whether he was somehow dreaming it all.
"No matter how our courtship started, I do not regret for one second having chosen to stay here and marry you," Naruto insisted and wrapped his arms around Sasuke's waist. "Never doubt that."
Sasuke released a soft sigh, but he relaxed and closed his own arms around Naruto. "You're certain you don't want us to retaliate for the offense she tried to commit? She shouldn't get away with this so easily."
"For someone as prideful as she is, your words will be worse than any kind of retaliation we can come up with," Naruto snorted, rubbing the dark haired man's back. "I don't want to waste anymore of our time or our energy on them; they're not worth it."
Sasuke cocked his head to the side. "Yet you agreed to attend their celebrations."
"To show her what she's missing out on after she decided that appearances are worth more than loving someone for who they are," the blond answered easily and the prince smirked. "She and her family treated me as the lesser one for years, making it clear time and time again what my place was. She sacrificed me when she thought her happiness was at stake – and now she saw with her own eyes how mistaken she was. I'm happier than she'll ever be, thanks to her selfish behaviour."
"You're going to tell me you're grateful for what she did?" Sasuke asked, slightly amused.
"I'm not grateful to her," Naruto corrected him with a scoff. "I'll never be grateful to her or her family, though I suppose they did me a favour at least by presenting me to you. If there is one person I'm grateful for, it's Lady Temari for putting those seeds in Sakura's head."
Self-absorbed as Sakura always had been, she had never noticed how close Naruto had become to the Sabaku siblings. Unlike some of the other families of noble blood, they had never treated him with disrespect for who he was. As a matter of fact, he and Gaara had become rather close friends throughout the years; the red haired man's dry humour a breath of fresh air in an environment where even the silliest, lightest joke was never acceptable.
The Sabaku family could count many important families as their allies, one of which were the Uchiha themselves. When Temari had heard about Sasuke's decision to seek out a suitable spouse, seeking out the Haruno family as both kingdoms had agreed on an arrangement many years ago, she'd been less than pleased with the thought that one of her closest allies might bind herself to someone she considered not suitable enough.
Just as well as she knew the Uchiha family and their desire to marry someone who loved them for themselves and not their appearance, just as well did she know Sakura. She knew the princess would not accept anything less than perfect for her and with rumours abound regarding the Uchiha family, it had not taken her long to compose the plan to keep Sakura away from Sasuke.
At the time Naruto had been completely unaware of what Temari had been planning. One day he'd been buried to his nose in stuffy books, trying to convince himself to absorb the centuries' old knowledge of war strategies, the next he'd been summoned by the king and the queen, who'd informed him that he would be marrying the youngest Uchiha prince instead of Sakura.
With the rumours quickly spreading throughout the castle, it hadn't taken Naruto long to realise just why exactly he had been offered to marry a prestigious prince like Sasuke. Already having felt like an outsider for years, this stunt of his supposed sister had only further solidified his desire to part ways with the Haruno family as soon as possible.
He just had never expected that his way out would involve getting married to a prince.
Temari, at least, had had the grace to look ashamed when she'd confessed what she'd done. By that time, however, Naruto had already fallen in love with Sasuke and so hadn't been as angry with her as he would have been, should she have confessed at the start of his courtship.
That he was finally happy he had Temari to thank partly for; something he had done when he had seen her again on his wedding day.
"I did not care for the celebrations, not when they could never even be bothered to ask whether I'm happy here, but I wanted to show how much she's missing out on," Naruto confessed and shrugged. "She'll have to forever live with the thought that she let someone as amazing as you slip through her fingers, all because of her obsession with perfection. Thanks to her short-sightedness, I've found love again. I have a family again. Our little family."
He grasped one of Sasuke's hands and pressed it against his stomach, where through his shirt was just the faintest swelling tangible. Dark eyes visibly softened as Sasuke cupped his belly gently.
"I just wanted to make it clear what she'll be missing out on and that's it. After yesterday I do not want anything to do with her or her family anymore," Naruto stated and rested his forehead against Sasuke's shoulder. "My place is here now at your side. Here's where I want to be for the rest of my life."
"As long as you're certain," Sasuke murmured and kissed Naruto's temple.
"I'm certain," Naruto smiled. "As I warned you on our wedding day: you won't get rid of me anymore."
Sasuke smiled and couldn't resist tilting Naruto's head back to kiss him. The blond man had been quite vocal about how there wouldn't be any going back if they decided to get wedded.
"Now is your only chance still to back out," he had told him right as he had arrived at the altar, looking amazing in his bright white robes, carrying a bouquet of flowers as bright blue as his eyes. "After this, there's no going back, no annulment possible."
Sasuke had merely grasped his hand back then, eagerly anticipating the moment he could finally lower his mask and reveal himself to the man he had come to love.
He would forever be grateful that Temari had taken it upon herself to meddle into his affairs, ensuring he would find someone who would love him for who he was and not for how he looked like. Their family's exceedingly good looks had made it practically impossible throughout the years to find a spouse they could trust. With every interaction, every awe struck gaze, they had to wonder whether the person liked them for who they were or whether they just appreciated the nice face looking back at them.
The masks and hoods covering their faces had become a necessity, a way to find out whether their intended would be able to truly love them and not just because they looked handsome. They made for an easy way to weed out the ones who would only have been interested in their looks.
While he had never met Princess Sakura, he had heard good things about the Haruno kingdom and so he had set out three years ago with the hopes of finding a spouse who would be able to love him for who he was.
When Naruto had been presented to him instead, a part of him had instantly known why and he had smiled bitterly, hidden underneath his hood. Apparently not even the gracious Haruno family could stand to be tied to someone who could possibly be hideous.
It had all worked out in the end, however.
Because Naruto had given him a chance in spite of the less than pleasant circumstances which had surrounded their first meeting. He had been willing to be courted even when he had no idea whether he would marry a monstrous looking man. He had shown that Sasuke mattered more to him than how Sasuke looked and now, three years later, Sasuke was happy that Sakura had proven herself to be too superficial. Because if she hadn't, he would have never been able to meet Naruto, would have never known just how deeply he could love someone.
He might never have got his happily ever after like in all those fairy tales mother had been so fond of reading to him and Itachi when they had been children.
"I never want to get rid of you," he promised and Naruto's blinding smile had him kissing him again, pulling him close to his body.
Their hands made quick work of their sleepwear, undoing all the effort their maids had put into getting them dressed, and Naruto laughed when Sasuke easily picked him up before dropping him down ever so gently onto the bed. They were no strangers to rough lovemaking, but he did not want to risk the precious bundle his husband was carrying within him at all.
Even when Naruto protested, mumbling I'll be fine, I promise, no need to treat me like porcelain, I won't break, you know that, Sasuke kept his caresses careful, but teasing and firm, sweeping his hands down his sides across his hips and over his thighs, delighting in the softness of his inner thighs, before Naruto pulled him down and kissed him again, easily opening up for him.
Muscles parted for his fingers without any issue, welcoming him inside Naruto's body and he swallowed the blond's deep groan when his fingertips brushed against a special, secret spot within him. Touching that place never failed to drive Naruto mad, a fact Sasuke greedily took advantage of, enjoying how flushed those cheeks would become and how glassy those blue eyes would turn with pleasure.
A soft hum escaped Naruto when Sasuke pushed inside of him, his cock instantly embraced by hot, tight, wet muscles and his own breath left him in a shuddering exhale as he sank into him completely until his hips rested flush against Naruto's buttocks. Those inner muscles tightened arrhythmically around his prick as the blond adjusted to his girth; his breath leaving him in soft puffs of hot air, which tickled Sasuke's ear.
"I'm ready," Naruto murmured, kissing him in his neck.
His nails dug into Sasuke's shoulders when the dark haired man slowly, almost languidly, pulled out until barely the tip of his cock was still inside. He hovered there, his own muscles tensing up, and smirked when Naruto clucked his tongue annoyed, smacking his arse.
"No need to hurry on my account," Naruto grumbled and moaned when Sasuke abruptly pushed back inside, filling him up swiftly.
"You were saying?" Sasuke asked smugly, shifting his hips slightly so that his next thrust would press straight into that special spot.
"Stop being so – oh god!" Naruto groaned, shuddering when Sasuke succeeded in his endeavour, and yanked the prince down to kiss him full on his mouth, his lips parting, letting their tongues touch and sending sparks down Sasuke's back.
Sasuke had no problem complying to his husband's unfinished order – not when kissing him was far more fun.
Afterwards, Naruto snuggled into his chest and murmured exhaustedly, "I love you."
"I love you too," Sasuke whispered and watched the moonlight peek through a tiny gap in the curtains while Naruto's breathing gentled, slowing down, indicating he was falling asleep.
As he laid there, his husband in his arms and their legs entangled together underneath the sheets, he thought back of the pink haired princess he had left shell shocked behind in that corridor. He thought about her presumptuous attitude, the way she had just assumed that Naruto would easily step aside for her now that she was reassured that Sasuke wasn't hideous looking. He remembered her hand shooting up in the air, ready to strike Naruto's face without any hint of hesitation.
He kissed Naruto's forehead and covered his belly with his hand.
Perhaps his words would be enough to keep the Haruno kingdom from attempting to strike back. Perhaps even Sakura wouldn't be so stupid as to presume that her army would win a war between their kingdoms.
If his words should not be enough, however; if she proved to be just that stupid, then he would retaliate with everything he had in him and then some more.
Because he had found his happily ever after in Naruto and the gods help the person, man or woman, commoner or king, who thought they could get between them.
