I hope you'll like the final part!
Part 2
As it turned out, Itachi and Sasuke had started an accountancy company together, a very successful one at that with a lot of important clients in their database. In five years they had managed to build themselves from the ground up and to say that Sakura was impressed was an understatement.
In all the articles she read, there wasn't any mention of Fugaku, so she presumed that even nearly six years later, the fight between Itachi and Fugaku still hadn't been resolved. You'd think that during six years, two adult men could talk out their differences, but the Uchiha family – especially the men – had always been rather stubborn.
Still, obviously they hadn't needed to make amends with the older man, because they appeared to be doing quite well on their own. Their office was located in a very fancy part of the town and while she couldn't immediately find out where they were living now, she assumed it had to be somewhere equally as fancy. If they could afford to have their office in that part of the town, they definitely could afford the more upscale places to live in.
The charity the article had been talking about was one tied to an employee of theirs apparently, who sought to seek more funds for an organisation dealing with mental health or something along those lines. Sakura hadn't really bothered to seek more information about that particular organisation, because that wasn't the part which had held her attention in the article.
Leaning back in her chair, she stared thoughtfully at her laptop, which was currently displaying the route she would need to take from her house to the building where the charity event would take place. It would start in a couple of hours and apparently a lot of people with some serious influence would be attending, including the Uchiha brothers themselves. In spite of the fact that many businessmen and businesswomen would attend, everyone was welcome, including people who didn't have any dealings in the financial world. The more people willing to give to charity, the better naturally.
Her decision made, she nodded to herself and smiled, getting up from her chair. She gave the dress laid out on her bed an appraising glance. It was a very light green, almost pastel like, and it showed a modest cleavage: showing just enough to tease without being too much. When she wore it, it would flare open across her thighs and there were thin, almost invisible butterflies stitched across the sides. It had a single green stone attached at the front, drawing further attention to her cleavage and it had been one of the first gifts Sai had bought for her.
She still loved wearing it now, even with them having parted, and the dress was certainly fashionable enough to attend a charity. If she would pair it with her equally light green heels and would put on some soft makeup, she would definitely look good enough tonight.
Beautiful enough to say hello to her ex-boyfriend.
Humming softly to herself, she went to the bathroom so she could start preparing herself for tonight.
A lot of people were already mingling around the venue when she arrived and she took a moment to be suitable impressed by the fancy dresses and costumes everyone was wearing. She vaguely recognised some people as being hotshots at banks and local business', proving once more that the Uchiha brothers were doing very well.
Three bartenders were mixing drinks and making people laugh at the bar to the right and waiters in perfectly fitting beige costumes were walking around, offering appetisers and glasses with bubbly champagne to the attendees. Sakura took one of the offered glasses and popped an appetiser with salmon in her mouth, barely containing her moan of enjoyment and surprise when the flavours burst apart in her mouth.
Damn, if the appetisers were already this amazing, just how delicious would the actual courses be?
She wasn't here for the food, however, nor the drinks – even though both were really good – but for Sasuke and she discreetly wandered around, trying to catch the familiar black hair of her ex-boyfriend.
There had been pictures posted on the company's websites, but those dated of three years ago. She didn't think Sasuke would have changed that much, though. He had always been a creature of habit, having had the same hairstyle ever since she could remember. He even had had a set routine for when he had come home during the evenings, for god's sake. She doubted he would have changed that much in the six years they'd been apart – except that obviously he had started doing very well after they had broken up.
She spared a moment to feel irritated about that, because why hadn't he started a company sooner instead of wasting time, trying to find a job somewhere? They could have still been together then, because it would have shown her that he was taking her worries seriously.
But no matter. That had been six years ago and they both had changed for the better. The past was the past for a reason and she should just focus on the future.
A future where she and Sasuke might be –
There.
A flash of black bluish hair had her spinning around on her heels gracefully, her heart beating faster immediately at the prospect of finally seeing Sasuke again. Because it had to be Sasuke, nobody else she knew had that particular shade of black bluish hair and yes, there he was, the Alpha striding purposefully through the crowd, aiming for a particular round table somewhere next to the dead fireplace.
At the sight of him her breathing hitched and her fingers tightened around the stem of the flute glass. Her memories hadn't done him justice at all. Somehow in the six years they hadn't seen each other, he had grown almost impossibly handsomer and that really shouldn't have been possible, but clearly Sasuke was capable of anything he set his mind to.
His hair was still spiked stylishly in the back, but a sideways lock covered his left eye now, making him look both mysterious and breathtaking. He had taken to working out as well apparently, because she couldn't remember his muscles being that firm; his tailored black suit showing off his broad shoulders and back. His blood red shirt stood out starkly against his pale skin and he exuded such an air of confidence and power, people easily parting for him, that her mouth dried up just at the mere sight of it all.
Sasuke never had suffered from any confidence issues, but he had never appeared this powerful either. Apparently co-owning a company did marvellous things to one's self-esteem.
She started walking towards him, eager to get acquainted once again. Sure, they had parted on less than amicable terms, but again, that had been almost six years ago, and Sasuke had never been the type to hold a grudge for long. With him having made a fresh start and her single again, she was certain that they could pick up things where they had left it off. Feelings never died completely after all and that was certainly the case for her. For all the anger she had felt towards him for being so stubborn, a part of him had always remained in love with him and she was eager to speak to him again, maybe even go out for dinner sometime.
He probably was busier than ever before, but she was certain he would find time to share dinner with her. They weren't strangers after all, far from it.
She was only a mere couple of feet away from him and was already opening her mouth to greet him, when the sight at the rounded table had her doing a double take before it left her absolutely winded, as if she had received a punch straight into her chest.
It definitely felt like someone had just punched her right in her chest as she watched Sasuke reach the table where an unknown blond, blue-eyed man was leaning against, dressed rather casually in a grey vest, slim dark jeans and a blue sweater. As she stood there, barely keeping herself from gaping, she was forced to watch how Sasuke bent towards the blond and said something to him, making the other man laugh, before they –
Kissed each other full on the lips.
Completely dumbfounded, she could only stand there and stare as Sasuke smiled and pecked the man's lips once more before wrapping an arm around his shoulders and tucking him against his chest in such a familiar move that it made her own shoulders ache with emptiness.
What the hell was going on here? Who was this man and why was Sasuke kissing him? Nobody else seemed perturbed at the sight, some of the attendees even nodding friendly at the two men as they passed their table, like it was a normal sight, like they were used to seeing the two of them together at an event.
There was no way those two could be together! Sasuke had never shown any interest in men and besides, Itachi was the gay one in the family! Sasuke had been with her before, so how could he possibly stand there and kiss that man like it was something they did daily? Her Sasuke couldn't have changed that much!
She took a deep breath to steady herself, breathing in and out slowly to calm down. This definitely wasn't the place to start making a scene and she definitely didn't want to let her emotions overwhelm her. That wasn't the impression she wanted to make on Sasuke, not after not having seen him for almost six years.
There was probably a good explanation for this, she was sure. Maybe this blond man was just one of those types who acted overly familiar and thought that kissing everyone on the mouth was the way to greet people. She'd met some of those types before in Europe, back when she'd been travelling with Sai.
She just needed to remain calm and poised. She could do this.
She at least had the pleasure of seeing black eyes widen in surprise when she finally approached the table, entering Sasuke's line of vision. He straightened up and his face was blank, but not hostile; she could work with that. She knew she looked good. Better than the too casually dressed man besides him.
"Hello, Sasuke-kun, it's been quite a while, huh?" she smiled, stopping right in front of him. She briefly glanced over at the unknown blond, who was watching their interaction with a slightly bemused look on his face.
This close, she could discern some very thin markings on each of his cheeks, as if he had been cut with something a long time ago and the thin lines were the remainder of the accident. He was shorter than Sasuke and barely even taller than Sakura and his blond hair looked like he'd just tumbled out of bed with it. It wasn't even styled in a playful disarray! Who showed up to a charity looking like they had rolled straight out of bed?
"Nearly six years I suppose," Sasuke said flatly. "I wasn't expecting to see you here tonight."
"I only came home around a week ago. I was in Ireland still last week, but well, certain circumstances had me returning home instead," she said lightly and inclined her head at the blond man next. "Sorry, I don't think I recognise you. I'm Haruno Sakura, nice to meet you."
The man blinked before he smiled and bowed his head slightly as well. "Uzumaki Naruto, nice to meet you too."
"Still being so stubborn about the name change, huh?" Sasuke sighed out of the blue, shaking his head. He didn't look exasperated, however, but weirdly fond, as if the man's introduction amused him.
Uzumaki wrinkled his nose and actually went as far as quickly sticking out his tongue at Sasuke. "You know I'm not being stubborn on purpose, but it's such a mouthful, honestly."
Dark eyes rolled. "It's only six letters more, literally the same amount as your last name."
"Oh my god, if you're going to be this prissy about it," Uzumaki sighed explosively and then abruptly bowed again, re-introducing himself with, "Hello, nice to meet you, I'm Uchiha-Uzumaki Naruto, this bastard's husband."
Suddenly a small black haired head popped out from behind Sasuke's legs and the little boy – who couldn't be older than three, maybe four at most – blinked up owlishly at her with dark blue eyes.
Uzumaki laughed and picked up the boy, swinging him on his hips and bopping the tip of his nose with his index finger. "And this is Uchiha Keitaro, who's about to turn four very soon."
"That's this many!" Keitaro declared, sticking out three fingers at first before he glared at his hand as if it had betrayed him, followed by him resolutely sticking up his pinkie too, showing off four fingers.
"That's right, that's this many, you're so smart!" Uzumaki cooed and kissed his forehead, making the little boy giggle and kick with his legs before Sasuke gently stilled them.
"Careful with the kicking, baby," Sasuke cautioned him and any other time Sakura would think it was so adorable to see Sasuke being gentle with a little kid, but this time she could do nothing but stare, her ears ringing, wondering just where the fuck things had gone so horribly wrong.
"When were you going to tell me that Sasuke-kun got hitched to an Omega and has a bloody kid with him?" Sakura demanded, storming into the backroom of the Yamanaka Flowers and Plants Shop.
This backroom was as familiar to her as her own bedroom, because she and Ino had spent many afternoons here, doing their homework and giggling over cute boys.
At this moment, her best friend was just removing her dirt covered apron, ready to take her lunch break. Ino turned around and raised an eyebrow, not looking shocked at all.
"Honestly, didn't really think about it," she said flippantly and shrugged, crossing her arms and leaning against the desk. "I know he's married by now and has a kid, but it's not the type of news that's really shocking or urgent, you know? He's getting older like the rest of us and at least he has had the luck to get settled down already."
She sighed and pouted. "Man, wish I had that luck, but the men around here are absolute garbage, I tell you."
"You should have told me!" Sakura insisted, resting her balled fists on her hips, ignoring Ino's last complaint. It wasn't anything she hadn't heard before.
"But why?" Ino asked perplexed. "I thought you were done with him? How did you even find out about this? Did you meet him somewhere?"
"I went to his charity last night," Sakura answered and impatiently waved her hand. "I thought it would be nice to catch up with him, but instead I got to meet his lovely husband and his kid!"
She knew sarcasm was practically dripping off her at this point, but she was still incredibly pissed off at having been left in the dark so much to the point that she hadn't even been made aware of the fact that apparently Sasuke had got hitched and had knocked up some Omega in the six years they had been separated. How the fuck had that guy even managed to convince Sasuke to put a ring around his finger and knock him up?
Ino frowned and straightened out. "Really, Sakura, I don't get why you're making such a huge deal about this. You should have known that the chances of him staying single after all this time were slim to none. I mean, have you seen him?" she asked incredulously. "It was only a matter of time before he found someone else, just like you found Sai."
The way her blue eyes turned shrewd abruptly had Sakura stiffening up. "Oh my god, don't tell me you went there, hoping he'd take you back!" Ino asked exasperatedly, throwing her hands in the air. "What the hell were you thinking, Billboard Brows? You were the one who dumped him, remember?"
"Yes, because he was being a stubborn dick," she insisted, crossing her own arms. "What the hell else was I supposed to do? He refused to choose me and he was about to throw himself into financial ruin all for his brother! Of course I wasn't going to stay on that sinking ship!"
"So what? Now that he's got it made, you think you can just slither back into his life like you never left?" Ino demanded in disbelief. "Damn it, Sakura, you really think that shtick would have worked? You were the one who left him in the first place and now you thought he would just accept you back, just like that? You can't be this stupid!"
"Hey, who's fucking side are you on here?" Sakura hissed, anger spiking up. "Like you would have stayed with a poor guy!"
Ino gave her the most unimpressed look she had ever seen. "Maybe not, but I wouldn't be so shameless as to assume he would easily take me back years later when he's rich again," she retorted scathingly.
"Oh, fuck you!" Sakura snapped and marched out of the backroom, slamming the door shut behind her.
See if she would visit her supposed best friend again!
Just who was this Uzumaki Naruto anyways? Fuming still, she stepped onto the bus, making a beeline for the empty seat in the back.
She had never heard of this guy before and yet somehow he had managed to not only attract but also keep Sasuke's attention long enough to convince the Alpha to marry him and knock him up.
Narrowing her eyes, she stared unseeingly at the scenery outside, mulling over what she knew. Itachi and Sasuke had set up the company around four years ago, give or take a couple of months, she wasn't exactly sure of the date anymore. The little kid was almost four years old apparently, so that meant that Uzumaki had got knocked up around the same time the company had been established or at least a few months before the official announcement.
Was that a coincidence? She didn't think so. What better way to tie a company boss to him than with a kid? Genius, really. The Uchiha had always been very family focused until Fugaku had kicked out both his sons, so Uzumaki had probably taken advantage of that trait by becoming pregnant right before Sasuke would become a boss. Accountants weren't that poor and Uzumaki had probably guessed that the company would boom eventually. Tying Sasuke to him with a kid was the best solution then, because even if their relationship went sideways, Sasuke would do everything in his power to keep his family happy.
A life guaranteed with the hottest Alpha at his side and a steady high income – who wouldn't get knocked up for that?
Ino had basically accused her of only having been with Sasuke because of his money, but at least she had never got knocked up on purpose to keep him with her! So really, who was the real gold digger then?
Now she would just need to show Sasuke the mistake he'd made in getting hitched to that Omega.
"No, I'm sorry, but Uchiha-sama has meetings the entire day and won't have time to see you today."
Sasuke looked up from his laptop and furrowed his eyebrows. Meetings, what meetings? The only meeting he had today was at three p.m. and that would take an hour tops. What was Temari talking about?
"Yes, I will certainly pass on the message, have a good day."
The elevator doors hissed shut right as Sasuke stepped outside his office, curious. "Who was that?"
There was no way Temari had forgotten that he barely had any meetings today. She was the most detail oriented personal assistant he had ever met and she knew his schedule even better than he did. She was also infallibly polite to everyone, no matter their rank, and it definitely wasn't like her to lie straight into someone's face. As a matter of fact, if he had to point out something that might be considered a negative characteristic of hers, it might be that she could be a bit too blunt and honest at times.
She looked up at him and quirked an eyebrow. "Someone who introduced herself as your ex-girlfriend, Haruno something," she sneered dismissively. "She didn't make an appointment on time and I didn't like the way she looked when introducing herself, so I sent her away."
"You didn't like the way she looked," he echoed and while a part of him was amused at that strange explanation, a bigger part of him was irritated. What the hell was Sakura doing all the way here in his office? He somehow doubted she needed help with her accountancy.
"I'm good at reading people, okay, and I didn't like what I saw," Temari insisted. "She looked way too haughty for someone introducing herself as an ex and besides, if you were that close still, she wouldn't need to go through the secretary to see you."
"Sharp as always," he smiled faintly, but he narrowed his eyes as he stared at the elevator. "Did she say what she wanted?"
"Apparently she needs to talk to you and for some reason that has to happen over dinner at a very expensive restaurant," she replied unimpressed. She eyed him carefully. "Do you want to meet with her?"
"No, everything that needed to be said was said years ago," he dismissed. "I don't see any reason why I would meet up with her at a restaurant. Besides, Naruto promised to make my favourite dinner tonight, so I'm definitely not missing out on that."
"Actual food or?" she smirked; her smirk widening when he clucked his tongue disapprovingly.
"Actual food, get your mind out of the gutter. Really, you're worse than your brother sometimes," he tsk'd.
"I'm going to assume you mean the oldest, because Gaara is the pinnacle of self-restraint," she said dryly. "Well, I did my duty as your personal assistant, I passed on the message." She waved her hand through the air.
"Yeah, thanks," he said absentmindedly and walked back into his office, sitting down behind his desk.
Whatever Sakura wanted to talk about, it couldn't be anything interesting. Not after six years of not having seen each other and not after she'd dumped him. Whatever, she'd seen with her own eyes that he wasn't available anymore and he didn't care about anything she had to say.
Her impromptu visit was already pushed out of his mind by the time he arrived home that evening.
"I would – " He cleared his throat, his cheeks feeling uncomfortable hot and he could barely look at the other man. "I would like to take you out on a date. If you want to."
Naruto smiled widely, his blue eyes glittering brightly as he leant over the counter, bracing himself against it. "You mean it? You really want to go out with me?"
"Yes, but – I can't really afford anything fancy yet," he admitted begrudgingly, ashamed.
He hated how he couldn't spoil Naruto like he desperately wanted to. Naruto had been there when he had hit his lowest point, when he had to crash on the couch in his brother's place, staying out late once in a while just to give Itachi some actual privacy with his boyfriend.
It had been during one of those late nights when Sasuke had plopped down dispirited on a bench across a small bakery, wondering just what the fuck he was going to do with his life, that he had met Naruto.
The blond Omega had been juggling a box with leftover pastries, trying to get his key into the lock to close up the shop for the evening. He had seen Sasuke sitting there, looking alone and pathetic, and had promptly sat down next to him, offering one of the pastries. They were going to be thrown out either way, he had shrugged, and what was the point in throwing out good food?
They hadn't said anything to each other that night, save for Sasuke's awkward thank you for the pastries when he had finally deemed it late enough for a safe return to the couch.
Two nights later he had been there on the bench again and the Omega had joined him once more, sharing a flask of hot chocolate this time as well. The blond man turned out to be Uzumaki Naruto and he was quite the chatterbox once he started running his mouth, talking about whatever popped up in his mind, be it about the weather, the old lady stopping by for her daily chocolate pastry or the neighbour's dog who still thought he could get the stray cat to play with him.
Sasuke had never been the type to talk much, had never been the type to sit with strangers and hold entire conversations with them and share food with them, but that was exactly what he ended up doing. Because there was something about Naruto which broke through the strong walls he had built around himself after Fugaku had disinherited him and Sakura had dumped him and he'd got fired from the company he had poured so much energy and hours into.
When he was with Naruto, it was easy to forget his current hopeless situation, easy to forget just how low he had fallen. From a rich, desirable Alpha to a jobless loser nobody wanted to take a second look at.
Nobody but Naruto that was.
Because Naruto didn't care that he had trouble finding a job, didn't care that Sasuke was awkward and not good at expressing himself. He didn't care that Sasuke barely had any money to his name, being forced to sleep on his brother's couch because he couldn't find a decent job.
He didn't care about all that, he only cared about Sasuke himself, showering him with his warmth and his tinkling laughter and letting Sasuke just be.
It was not surprising, therefore, when Sasuke ended up falling in love with him. He had never fallen in love with a man before, but he found that he didn't care about that, because Naruto made him happy, made him feel like he could handle everything even in a world which solely seemed to revolve around money.
Naruto made him feel good, made him feel like he was good enough and that had him gathering enough courage to finally ask Naruto out on a date.
He had wanted to wait at first, until he had finally found a proper job and could spoil Naruto like he deserved to be spoilt, but he had seen some of the flirty smiles other men threw at Naruto and he had realised that waiting might mean losing Naruto forever.
Maybe he would still lose him after asking him out, maybe he had completely misread all the signs Naruto had been throwing for the past weeks, but at least he would have tried then. He would have tried and proven that he was no longer the pathetic loser he had felt like for months, even when he still didn't have a steady job.
Warm fingers curling around his wrist had him looking down before he looked up again, straight into soft cerulean blue eyes.
"I don't care about fancy, Sasuke," Naruto murmured. "I care about you."
And he continued to prove that time and time again.
Sakura cornered him on the parking lot of all places, a couple of weeks after the charity.
He honestly had forgotten about her, had assumed her visit at the office had been a one time thing and Temari's dismissal had been enough to make her retreat.
Obviously he had also forgotten just how stubborn Sakura could be and watching her approaching him with her chin jutted out, he wondered how he could have ever convinced himself that he had been in love with her. Whatever he had felt for her disappeared into nothing next to his love for Naruto. If his love for Sakura had been a lit match, then his love for Naruto was like a roaring fire, swallowing up everything in its path.
She had definitely done him a favour by breaking up with him years ago.
"What do you want?" he asked and couldn't really hide his annoyance. It was already quite late and he wanted nothing more than to go home and bury himself into Naruto's embrace, feel those strong hands knead out the stress in his shoulders while listening to Keitaro trying to convince them why he really should be allowed to stay up later, because he was a big boy already!
She pouted slightly, halting just a couple of feet away from him. "I just want to talk to you, what's wrong with that?"
"Everything's wrong with that, because we've got nothing left to say," he said irritated. "We've said everything when we broke up and I haven't seen you in six years, what on earth do we have to talk about still?"
She rested a hand on her hip, looking ridiculously imperious, as if she knew something he didn't. "Well, I came to warn you that Uzumaki-san might not be - "
"Don't," he said quietly, but the dangerous edge to his voice had her shutting up regardless of his tone.
She stared at him wide-eyed.
"Do not talk about him, do not even mention his name. You've got not right to do that," he hissed. "Especially when you start with stupid shit as that you need to warn me!"
"But I do need to warn you!" she insisted stubbornly, frowning. "You don't think it's weird how he got knocked up around the same time you started setting up this company with your brother? I did the maths, you know, and it all adds up to him wanting to tie you to him with a - "
"I'm going to stop you right there," he cut her off coldly and she blinked owlishly at him, as if she had expected him to just stand there and listen to her bullshit without saying anything.
"I'm going to say this only once and then I want you to stay the hell out of my life and out of his. Naruto didn't fucking tie me to him with our baby. He was there for me when I was at my lowest, he was there for me when I didn't have any money, and he's remained at my side ever since!"
"That's because he knew you would get rich again eventually!"
"Like you stayed with me when I still had money?" he sneered and she gaped at him. "You think I got wealthy again immediately? No, Sakura, my brother and I went through hell to be where we are now. We worked several jobs, none of which paid very well, and our first project was obliterated by the bank. I got to a point where I thought I would never be able to give Naruto the life he deserved to have and he still stayed with me! He went out with me when I barely had any money left, he stayed with me when job after job dumped me, when the bank refused to give out loans and approve our plans!"
He threw out his arms and took a step closer, his voice growing hard with fury. "I had to fucking loan money from his parents to give him the dream wedding he deserved! He would have been okay with just signing the papers, but I wanted to give him the special day he deserved to have! And that's just one of the many ways he differs from you, Sakura: he has always only cared about me, not about whatever my money could give to him. And unlike you, he stayed at my side at my lowest point and refused to leave me even when I told him he could! He fucking stayed with me the entire time and you couldn't even be arsed to support me when I went against Fugaku!"
She had paled by now and had actually taken several steps back as he advanced on her. "Don't fucking stand there and accuse him of being a gold digger when he's always been good to me from the start! If anyone is a fucking gold digger here, it's you! You think you can just show up and waltz back into my life like nothing happened? All because you've seen how well I'm doing again? Go find someone else stupid enough to cater to your whims, because I don't want you anywhere near me or my family again!"
"I just want to talk!"
"You lost the chance to talk to me ever again the moment you chose money over me," he said coldly. "I'm not saying it again. I don't want to see you anymore and you stay the hell away from my family or you will regret it, I swear."
He got in his car and drove away before she could even attempt to talk to him again. If she was at least somewhat smart, she would definitely stay away from him now.
"Mikoto called," Naruto announced when he walked into the kitchen. The blond was busy finishing the last part of their dinner. "She's inviting us for lunch this weekend, but she isn't sure yet whether Fugaku will be joining, because and I quote, 'he's in another stubborn mood again', so yeah, not sure whether he'll be there."
"That's fine," Sasuke muttered, loosening his tie.
Things between him and Fugaku were still shaky at best. While there had been several reconciliation attempts throughout the years, things weren't back to being okay just yet. Fugaku was making an effort – most of the time anyways – but it would still be a long time before they would be completely comfortable around each other again.
"Dad!" Keitaro yelled excitedly, running into the kitchen with his arms stretched upwards.
Sasuke caught him around his waist and briefly lifted him up to hug him. "Hey, Keitaro, you've been good today?"
"I'm always good, dad," Keitaro huffed and squeezed his neck firmly, pressing a sloppy kiss against Sasuke's cheek.
"Go wash your hands, baby, dinner's ready," Naruto told him with a smile and while the little boy pouted slightly, he nodded and went straight to the bathroom the second Sasuke lowered him to the floor.
"Hey," Naruto smiled at him then, curling his fingers around Sasuke's tie to pull him closer for a kiss. When he pulled back, there was a slight frown marring his face. "You okay? You don't look so happy," he commented carefully.
For a moment, Sasuke hesitated, questioning whether it was even necessary to rehash what had happened at the parking lot, but if Sakura really did turn out to be stupid, Naruto needed to be warned about her.
"Sakura was waiting for me at the parking lot tonight," he said.
Naruto tilted his head to the right. "That's your ex-girlfriend, right? The one at the charity?"
Sasuke hadn't told him much about Sakura. He hadn't really seen the point in that, because he had been finished with her the second she had considered money to be more important than their relationship. Naruto knew she had left him after it had become clear that Sasuke didn't have his well paid job anymore and that was all that he had told about her.
"Yes, that's her," Sasuke confirmed and rolled his shoulders. "Apparently she's thick enough to think I would take her back now that I'm earning well again."
"She is rather pretty," Naruto commented lightly, but the look in his eyes was all wrong.
Sasuke clucked his tongue and drew the Omega closer to him by his hips, rubbing his thumbs across the sliver of bared skin when his shirt rucked up slightly. "She might be somewhat pretty, I suppose, but her insides are rotten as hell. I'm not taking her back at all if that's what you're worrying about."
Naruto shrugged and looked away, pursing his lips. "Well, they always say you keep feeling something for your first love," he muttered, fidgeting in the Alpha's hold.
"Any spark I still felt for her was dead and buried the second she chose money over me," Sasuke declared and placing two fingers underneath Naruto's chin, he gently directed him to look at him again. "Love, trust me, I feel nothing for her. You're the only one for me."
"I trust you," Naruto sighed and his eyes cleared up again. Resting his hands on Sasuke's shoulders, he rose up on his tiptoes to kiss him. "You know I do."
Sasuke nuzzled his left temple. "Why would I possibly want her back when you've always been on my side, even during the hard times?"
"Of course I'm always on your side, why wouldn't I be?" Naruto looked adorably confused, as if he couldn't understand how someone could not be on their partner's side even during hard times.
And that was just one of the many ways in which he was a thousand times better than Sakura could ever hope to be. Because while Naruto clearly liked it when Sasuke decided to spoil him with gifts, the Alpha was also assured that if he ever ended up with barely any money to his name again, Naruto would still be there, right at his side. He had started dating Sasuke back when he'd still been jobless after all, had remained with him when job after job dumped him, when the bank ruthlessly destroyed his and Itachi's plan for a new company and it didn't look like things would become better any time soon.
The beginning of their relationship had seen Sasuke at his lowest, but Naruto had never left him, not even when Sasuke had told him he could, that he wouldn't blame Naruto for not wanting to stay with him.
"Don't be stupid," Naruto said vehemently. "Of course I'm not going to leave you, why the hell would I do that?"
Listlessly Sasuke gestured at the pile of papers detailing the project he and Itachi had set up. The project which had been torn apart by the bank and was completely useless now, nothing more than empty words written down on paper.
"Nii-san and I thought we could make it with this, but the bank is not even going to give us a small loan. I don't know if I can ever – if I can ever give you the life you deserve." He swallowed, tears of frustration stinging the back of his eyes.
He and Itachi had been so certain that this plan would be perfect, that this was the one which would allow them to get properly back on their feet. A plan which would allow Sasuke to give Naruto everything he deserved to have and more. He had set all his hopes on this plan and now he had nothing. If the bank didn't approve of this plan, how was Sasuke ever going to be able to move forwards? How was he going to give Naruto the life he deserved when one low paying job after the other dumped him?
He gasped surprised when warm hands cupped his cheeks, forcing him to look straight into blazing blue eyes. "Stop assuming that you can only make me happy with money," Naruto snapped. "I fell in love with you, not with your damn wallet. I'm not going to leave you, so get that through your thick skull!"
"How about I take you out tomorrow night?" Sasuke suggested, running his hands up and down Naruto's back. "To celebrate your new pastry's popularity."
"You heard about that?" Naruto grinned pleased, a blush paining his cheeks.
Naruto was still working parttime at the bakery, but he had become something like the pastry head chef. He regularly came up with new pastry recipes and they never failed to be incredibly popular with the customers. Since Naruto had been given free reign over the recipes, the bakery saw his clientele tripled with several of Naruto's personal recipes even featured in magazines.
"Of course I heard about that. You've got several floors in my office raving about it," Sasuke smiled.
"Can we go for ramen then?" Naruto licked his lips. "It's been a while since we last went to Ichiraku's."
"It's your treat, we can go wherever you want," Sasuke reassured him.
"It's a date then," Naruto grinned mischievously and they shared another quick kiss before Keitaro became too impatient and came barrelling into the kitchen once more, declaring he was really, really hungry!
From his spot in the bed, he watched Naruto change into his pyjamas. As he pulled off his sweater, Sasuke was offered a good look at his stomach. It was no longer as flat as it had been a month ago; instead a gentle swelling had appeared, showing that he had entered his fourth month of pregnancy.
Sasuke could still remember clear as day when Naruto had told him he was pregnant the first time, because it was the day everything had changed for the better for them.
He didn't even wait for the elevator to finally come down. Instead he rushed up the stairs, taking two steps at a time, excitement rushing through his veins, making him feel like he was flying.
Today everything was going to change for the better! No longer would they ever have to worry about money again, no longer would he have to trudge from one job to the other. No, starting from today, things would finally start looking up for them!
He practically burst into the small apartment, making Naruto jump in surprise. As the blond man whirled around to face him, they both blurted out at the same time, "I've got news!"
They both blinked and started laughing then, Naruto looking quite pink in the face. "Go on, what's your news?" Naruto grinned, beckoning him closer. "I don't think I've ever seen you this excited before since you asked me out."
"The bank approved our project!" Sasuke declared excitedly, waving the signed documents in the air. "We've got the loan and everything! We can start preparing everything as early as next week already, which means that I'll finally have a fulltime job again!"
"That's amazing, I'm so happy for you!" Naruto crowed and their mouths met eagerly, Naruto's arms wrapping around his shoulders to tug him closer. "See, I told you this project is the right one! I knew you and Itachi would be able to convince them!"
"Yeah, I still can't believe they actually approved." Sasuke shook his head in disbelief. After so many months of fighting through disappointment after disappointment, it felt almost unreal to realise that this time they would finally have success.
"Of course they approved, they would have been stupid not to," Naruto huffed, tapping his shoulder.
Sasuke smiled and kissed him again, unable to stop himself. "So, what was your news?"
"Erm, well." To his confusion, Naruto actually took a step back, putting some distance between the two of them. His eyes downcast, he bit down on his lip and said, "I'm, erm, well, I realised that I missed my heat last month."
"You missed your heat," Sasuke echoed, not really grasping the significance of it yet; his mind still too fuzzy with excitement.
"Yeah, and so I took a test and I didn't know whether that was stupid or not, because well, missing it once isn't really something that remarkable I suppose, but I've always been on time, no matter what, so I figured taking a test wouldn't hurt then, you know?" Naruto babbled nervously and that did absolutely nothing to clear up things for Sasuke.
Grabbing Naruto's hands had the Omega abruptly shutting up, staring at him with big eyes. "Naruto, love, you're going to have to be more specific here, because I'm not following," he admitted bluntly.
"I'm pregnant," Naruto blurted out to his shock then; his entire face turning red. "Took three tests actually and they were all positive, so erm, unless they were all somehow faulty, I guess that means I'm really pregnant now. We're – we're going to have a baby and I really, really need you to say something right now, because I'm kind of freaking out right now. I know we only mentioned kids a couple of times before, so I understand if you're not ready yet, but if you don't mind, I'd really like to keep this baby even if this might not be the best moment yet, but really, is there ever a good moment for something like this and yeah, can you please say something now because I'm - "
Shutting up Naruto with a kiss was always the most successful way and so Sasuke did exactly that before the blond could work himself into a complete tizzy.
Naruto gasped softly when their lips parted and blinked at him, appearing a bit dazed.
"If you're ready, I'm ready," Sasuke murmured, cupping Naruto's neck. "I don't care about it being the best moment, if anything this might be the best sign that everything is going to be okay."
Naruto blinked rapidly as if he was blinking away tears. "I thought you didn't believe in symbolism like that," he teased with a watery voice, linking his hands together behind Sasuke's back.
"I don't, but I think that our project being approved and us getting a baby are really good signs," Sasuke smiled and dipped his hands down to grab Naruto's arse, hauling him up.
Naruto laughed surprised and clamped his legs around Sasuke's waist, linking his arms around his neck. "What are you planning?"
"Well, we definitely have to celebrate our news," Sasuke smirked.
"What are you thinking about?" Naruto asked curiously, crawling into bed.
"Nothing special," Sasuke murmured and pulled him closer by his hips. "Was just thinking that I'm glad to be home."
"Oh you are, hm? Even after fighting with your son about his vegetables?" Naruto smiled teasingly.
"I won the battle, didn't I?" Sasuke shot back, smiling when Naruto snickered.
The snickering died out when Sasuke pushed him down and kissed him, sucking his lower lip between his. Naruto hummed, running his foot alongside Sasuke's leg as he raised his legs, caging the Alpha between his thighs. The blond turned his face to the left when Sasuke's lips trailed down his chin to his neck, his throat vibrating underneath Sasuke's mouth when he hummed in pleasure, breathing shallowly when teeth grazed lightly against the tendon in his neck.
Their clothes didn't remain on much longer, being cast into a heap on the side of the bed and Naruto sighed when Sasuke blanketed his body again; fingers eagerly mapping out naked skin. After several years together, their bodies held no secrets for each other, but just like the first time, he still revelled in pulling those breathy moans out of his Omega, in seeing those pupils widen considerably, nearly drowning out the blue colour.
He still enjoyed hearing that particular humming sound Naruto would make when he pushed inside him, feeling muscles relax around his cock, pulling him deeper inside. Naruto's legs clamped down around his hips when Sasuke sat up, pulling him up as well. Straddling Sasuke's lap, Naruto easily started riding him, their eyes locked onto each other every time they pulled away from their kiss to breathe.
Sasuke's hands touched everywhere, sliding down strong arms, stroking up and down a slender back before caressing his small belly and gripping his hips tightly, helping him move up and down.
Little puffs of hot air caressed the shell of his ear as Naruto started losing the even rhythm, broken moans filling the space between them as Sasuke bucked his hips upwards, pushing himself deeper into Naruto, aiming straight for that one particular spot that never failed to drive him absolutely crazy.
He didn't know who came first, whether it was Naruto or him, but that didn't matter when Naruto clung onto his shoulders and kissed him urgently, groans muffled against their swollen lips.
When they fell back, Sasuke made sure that he landed on the bed first, cradling Naruto's body on top of his. Trailing his fingers down Naruto's damp back, he kissed his temple. "I love you," he murmured.
"Hm, love you too," Naruto mumbled, curling his hand across Sasuke's shoulder.
His wedding ring shone golden around his finger and Sasuke smiled, closing his arms around the Omega.
Yes, it had hurt for a bit when Sakura had left him, especially over something as stupid as money, but it had led him to Naruto and he would never regret that. Because Naruto and their son enriched his life more than money ever would.
The End
AN2: I hope this last part met your expectations! And just in case there are questions about it: no, Sakura didn't dare to approach either one of them again, because even she isn't that stupid :')
