There are whispers in the Mission Room. Whispers, excited Shinobi and one very red paper nin. With a scar on his nose. Which he scratches. He probably shouldn’t do that. But then again, everybody has a thing they do when they are nervous.
Ibiki narrows his eyes and glances around in the room. The paper nin is nervous. The other Shinobi are excited. Something is going on in this room. Somehow he feels like he shouldn’t continue to walk in.
He takes a deep breath, clenches his hand to a fist at his side and moves his foot slightly, ready to turn around.
“You are not going anywhere.”
The Copy nin stands in the door opening. Blocking Ibiki’s path.
Ibiki snorts. “I wanted to go to my office. I don’t have all my paperwork.” He tilts his head to one side and moves his hands up, to fold his arms over each other. “Unlike others, I am on time with stuff like that.” It is a direct sneer at the Copy nin. The man blocking his way knows it. And he knows that Ibiki knows that he knows it.
Ibiki smirks and moves his head back.
Kakashi snorts and takes a step towards him. He moves a hand up, placing it at his neck. “You know…” He shakes his head and sighs. “Something wonderful happened to me yesterday.” He lifts his head up and stares straight into Ibiki’s eyes. “I went to take a shower.”
Ibiki raises one eyebrow. “Something wonderful?” he asks. He snorts and smirks. “And you took a shower? How often do you take a shower?” He smirks. “If that is all that is needed to make it wonderful, you must be a lucky man.”
Kakashi chuckles and lifts his hand from his neck. The fabric of his mask stretches. Ibiki holds his breath. Somehow that movement caught his attention. The tingle is back on his hands. He ignores it. Just as he ignores how Kakashi brings one finger to his neck and moves it from one side to the other.
Yesterday, his own hands tingled. And Kakashi was rubbing his neck yesterday. Like he is now.
“It is not about the shower, Ibiki.” Kakashi leans in and for a moment Ibiki forgets about the missing honorific. Or the casual speech. “It is about what I saw when I was coming out of it. When I was looking into the mirror.” His hand has a tight hold on Ibiki’s shoulder.
Ibiki bites his lip and tries to maintain his stoic expression.
“And from the looks of it, one man found out about it as well and told his best friend. Who then told it to all the others gathered around here.” Kakashi pulls and pushes at Ibiki’s shoulder, forcing him to turn around and face the crows gathered in the Mission Room. The Hokage is smiling at them, sitting next to the paper nin. And Anko is standing there, in the arms of her soul mate. Gai is grinning and a manly tear moves over his cheek. “My Rival, finally it is revealed. Show us your Bond Words!”
Kakashi snorts and shakes his head. “Can’t do that. They are underneath my mask.”
The whole crowd makes excited noises and the paper nin behind the desk gets an even darker shade of red on his cheeks. The Hokage is grinning.
Ibiki sighs and moves his shoulder up, trying to get rid of the hand lying there. Kakashi just tightens his hold and leans towards him. “Where are yours?” he asks. He places his head on his hand and pushes his nose towards Ibiki’s ear. “Where are your Bond words?”
Ibiki tenses up. Just slightly. Nothing visible. He hopes. “I have no idea what you are talking about,” he says. He raises one eyebrow and turns his head towards Kakashi.
Kakashi stares at him, with his one visible eye narrowed. He is not buying it, it seems. Well, he can ask anything he wants. Ibiki is not showing him anything.
Kakashi snorts, shakes his head and chuckles. “Come on, move along.” He pushes Ibiki towards the desk.
Ibiki grits his teeth and is ready to struggle. But there is a burst of chakra on his shoulder and he is reminded of Kakashi’s strength. The man is a genius. And, he is able to use the Sharingan. Not something to take lightly.
“There they are.” The Hokage brings her hands together and nods. “Well, I didn’t believe it at first. But, since all three of you are here, it has to be true. Show me your Bond words.” Her smile seems to grow bigger.
Kakashi shakes his head. “Nope. Mask.” He points at his face with his free hand.
The Hokage sighs, nods and turns her gaze towards the paper nin. “Come on, Iruka,” she says, “Show me your Bond words.” She smiles at him.
He shakes his head as well. “I… well…” He bites his lips and swallows. “They…” He glances down, towards his hands and even lower. “They are not in an appropriate place.” He nods to himself, pushes his hands down his lap and looks up.
The Hokage sighs. “Well, that leaves one person. I am beginning to think that this was all a big joke.” She frowns and averts her gaze towards Ibiki. “Tell me, Morino, is it a joke?” She narrows her eyes and rises from her chair. “I get that Kakashi doesn’t want to take his mask of. And I get that Iruka-sensei is a bit of a prude.”
The paper nin next to her wants to protest. The sounds he makes are ignored. The Hokage is only looking at Ibiki.
“You, Morino, you have nothing to be ashamed of.” She snorts, places her hands on the desk and leans forwards. “So I am ordering you to strip so I can see your Bond words.”
The whole Mission Room grows silent.
Ibiki’s breath stops. As does his heart. At least, that is how it feel at the moment. Like he can’t breathe. He frowns. “I am covered in scars.” He narrows his eyes. “Don’t tell me I have nothing to be ashamed of.” He snorts and turns around, effectively slipping out of Kakashi’s grip. He takes big steps towards the door and walks outside.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He stares at his hands. His itching, covered-in-gloves hands. He didn’t dare to go back to his office after the Hokage said that to him. He didn’t dare to continue his work after all that went on. He needed time to think.
He grits his teeth and sinks down onto his bed. There is nothing he can do now. From what he has seen, those two have his name on their skin. Like he has theirs onto his own skin. He closes his eyes and brings his hands to his face. His glove-covered-hands. He is never going to take his gloves of. Fuck summer. Perhaps he should move towards a cold country.
There is a knock on his window.
He snorts and chooses to ignore it.
There is another knock. Not on his window. On his door. Further away.
He chooses to ignore that one as well.
There is a sound of wings and a jab against his window.
He grits his teeth and looks up.
His window sill is covered by both a Copy nin and a hawk. The hawk is from the Hokage, so it seems.
He narrows his eyes at the animal and sighs. Even after all this, he is still a Shinobi of Konoha. And when Konoha is in danger, he will rise up to help it back on its feet.
He only has to figure out how to let the bird in and get the Copy nin to move away.
He tries glaring first. The silver haired man seems unaffected. He snorts and opens the window.
“Only the bird, not you,” he says.
The Copy nin chuckles and snaps his fingers. There is a small spark of chakra and Ibiki tenses up.
Kakashi hops inside, and the bird cocks his head.
Ibiki swallows and lowers his shoulder. The Copy nin is still above him. In strength. Not in height. He grits his teeth and nods towards the bird.
The bird hops inside, drops a paper on the ground and turns around, flying away.
Ibiki widens his eyes. Konoha is not in danger. If it was, then the hawk would’ve waited for him to read the letter. He sighs and bends down, picking the letter up.
“Nice view, Ibiki.” Kakashi whistles.
Ibiki closes his eyes and stretches his back.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I let Iruka into your place. The man was knocking on the door for hours.”
Kakashi chuckles. “At least, it sounded like that.”
Ibiki ignores him and opens the letter. He narrows his eyes and reads the words: ‘I’m sorry for disregarding your discomfort about your own body. It never occurred to me that you perhaps didn’t know about your Bond words as they can be on your back, until Hatake told me. Please accept my apologies for my behaviour and get on to figuring out if the three of you, Umino Iruka, Hatake Kakashi and you yourself, are truly bonded. With regards, the Hokage.’
Ibiki swallows. This letter was not something he expected. And now that he got it, he doesn’t know how to act.
“We’ve got orders from the Hokage.” It is the paper nin who speaks, now.
Ibiki glances over his shoulder. Yes, it’s Umino Iruka. The one with the scar over his nose. With a blush on his cheeks and with that nervous gesture. That one. The one that is on his left hand.
“Yes,” Kakashi says. He closes the door and gestures to the bed. “I am going to show you mine. Iruka is going to show his.” He brings a hand towards the edge of his mask. “And, by then, we hope you are convinced enough to take your clothes of and let us search for yours.” He pulls the mask down.
Ibiki averts his eyes towards Iruka, trying to ignore the pale face of the Copy nin in front of him. He shouldn’t look at the silver haired man’s face. The man is a mystery. He keeps his face a mystery.
Iruka gasps and brings a hand to his mouth. Kakashi brings his gaze towards him and nods, making the teacher nod as well and move his hands to his pants. He unbuckles the belt and opens his zipper. “Here, you see?” He pushes the fabric down, over his ass and points at his hips.
Ibiki widens his eyes. His names is stated on Iruka’s right hip. And Hatake’s is on the left. It’s true. It must be. It can’t be. But he reads them. The swirling sensation in his stomach is back. He averts his eyes towards Kakashi’s face. There is it. On Kakashi’s neck. His name is on Kakashi’s left. And Iruka’s on his right.
“This is proof from our side. I figured that you have it probably on a body part that you aren’t used to seeing… well, like your back or something. That is what I told the Hokage, after…” Kakashi shrugs and bites his lips. “After…” He shakes his head and looks up, straight into Ibiki’s eyes. “The Hokage ordered you to strip. She admits that ordering you to strip in front of everybody present was not a good idea. But now, there is nothing you can have against it.”
Ibiki blinks. His mind is cluttered. His heart is racing. He is unable to speak, to think, to react. It can’t be. He is not made for this.
Kakashi walks towards him and tugs at his coat. Ibiki moves his arms and the fabric is gone. His shirt is the second thing to be removed.
He should resist this. There is nothing to find. It is just an illusion. Nothing more. Right? It just can’t be.
“There is nothing on your back,” Iruka whispers.
Kakashi shrugs. “He is still wearing pants. I heard that Ebisu has his words on his butt.”
Hands work on Ibiki’s pants. They go down, together with his boxers. He blinks and shakes his head, reacting, wanting to cover himself. And the scars on his legs. And his back, and stomach and arms.
“No words on his butt.” Iruka’s voice is wavering. “Not down on his legs.”
Kakashi grunts and gives Ibiki a push. “Lie down. Don’t fret. We will find them.” He smiles. There is a frown on his face. It is not hidden by a mask. Easy to read now.
Ibiki doesn’t want them to know it, to find out. He is not made for relationships. Let alone something like a soul mate thing like the Bond words. He is not a soul mate to anybody. Not with his body like this. Not with his mind like that.
“Well, lift his dick up. Perhaps on his balls or something like that.”
Ibiki blinks and is back in reality. He holds his hands up, spreading his fingers. He shakes his head. “No way.” He leans back as Kakashi leans in. He does not need anybody touching that body part of him.
The Copy nin has the nerve to crook one of his eyebrows. “Did you check there already?” he asks. There is a chuckle in his voice. His hand sneaks, resting on the bed in front of Ibiki’s crotch.
Ibiki narrows his eyes. “I did. Nothing there.” He snorts. “I use that part of me every day.” He pushes his lips together into a thin line. “You checked. Nothing to see.” He shakes his head. “I think you are soul mates to each other.” He nods.
Iruka pops up next to him and reaches a hand out. That hand sneaks towards the bandana on top of Ibiki’s head and pulls. Revealing the scar tissue and holes underneath.
Ibiki freezes.
“Now we’ve checked everything.” Kakashi hovers over Ibiki and frowns. “Nothing there either.” He pulls back and sighs.
Ibiki snorts and rolls his eyes. “I told you.”
Iruka gasps and points at Ibiki. Ibiki has no idea where the paper nin is pointing at. The man is almost poking his eye out with his swaying finger.
“His hands. Kakashi, his hands. He wears gloves. All the time.”
Kakashi widens his eyes. He turns his gaze towards Ibiki and blinks.
Ibiki blinks as well.
Kakashi’s gaze turns dangerous.
Ibiki pulls his hands back and puts them underneath his legs.
Kakashi chuckles and leans forwards, coming closer and closer.
Ibiki leans back, keeping his hands tucked underneath his legs. No way he is going to reveal it.
Kakashi’s chest is onto his own chest. Making it harder to breath. It has nothing to do with his face being so close to Ibiki’s own face. It has nothing to do with the fact that Ibiki is naked. And certainly nothing to do with those lips that crash onto his own. With that tongue claiming his mouth.
Fuck, the man is skilled.
Ibiki’s left hand is pulled away and the glove is removed.
“His left side is mine!” Iruka says. He laughs and brings the hand to his face, placing a soft kiss on the back. The itch is gone.
Kakashi pulls back and grabs Ibiki’s right hand. He grins as the fabric leaves Ibiki’s hand. “And this side is mine.” He nods and turns his gaze towards Ibiki. “Naughty Ibiki. How should we punish you? Keeping this from us.”
Ibiki blinks. They seem way to happy about this. He frowns and turns his face away from them. He is not build for relationships.
Iruka giggles and turns around, dropping onto his back. He pulls his arms up and lifts them over his head, placing his hands in his neck. With a sigh, he snuggles closer towards Ibiki. “This is great.” He takes a deep breath. “You know, what they always say? About the late bonding? That is more precious, since you’re older. More experienced at life.” He turns his head to look at Ibiki.
Kakashi snorts and leans down, resting his body onto Ibiki again. “I was getting worried. That I would end up being bonded to somebody outside of Konoha. An enemy nin.” He pushes his uncovered nose in Ibiki’s neck, inhaling deeply. “To think that it would be with the both of you.” He lifts his head up and looks into Ibiki’s eyes. “It’s great!”
Iruka nods. “So, we just have to move on to the next step.” He bites his lip.
Kakashi chuckles. “Moving indeed. But before we actually move… we need to inform the Hokage that this is true.”
Iruka nods.
Ibiki narrows his eyes. “Perhaps you should move yourself off from me.” His cheeks are burning. He ignores that for now. “You are still on top of me.”
Kakashi blinks and looks down. “I am, aren’t I?” He averts his gaze back to Ibiki’s face, leans down an pecks Ibiki’s cheek. “Well, let’s get your dressed and then we head towards the Hokage.” He rolls away from Ibiki and grabs his hand. “We just have to show her both of your hands.” He lifts the hand up and brings it to his lips, placing a kiss on his name.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hokage eyes him with a small smile on her lips. She gestures for him to hold his hands out. Ibiki takes a deep breath and takes a step forwards. He is not made for relationships.
Not now.
And he will probably never be.
The Hokage rolls her eyes and gestures again.
He grits his teeth and raises his hands, which are still in his gloves.
The Hokage is growling by now. “I already apologized. Get those gloves off.” She narrows her eyes.
Ibiki narrows his own eyes and sets on removing his gloves. He drops them to her desk, making sure that there is enough noise so that she can’t miss it. He then goes on, lifting his hands up, with the palms facing himself.
Her eyes grow wide and she leans back in her chair. “So it is true!” She blinks and leans forwards, grabbing a hold of his left hand and bringing it close to her face. “Who would’ve thought that you three of all Shinobi would end up together.” She frowns, releases his hands and puts a finger to her lip. There is a shrugs of her shoulders and she looks up. “Well, not much can help it. I guess you have to do what all the others do.” She giggles. “Moving in together. And adjusting your missions. Well, since Umino-san is a teacher and you are the Head of Interrogation, at least two of you are in Konoha every time.” She nods. “That is a good thing. It should help with the itch.”
Ibiki clenches his hands and grabs his gloves again.
“Don’t put them on yet, Ibiki.” The Hokage narrows her eyes at him. “It is strange for three men to be bonded. I think we need to investigate this some more. I want you to keep those uncovered for the rest of the week.”
Ibiki widens his eyes. A week. He has to walk around with no gloves for at least a week. “What about the meetings with the council? And the other Kages?” Perhaps he is excused from his work for the following week. He snorts. He could use some time alone. Most of the Shinobi who get bonded are excuses from missions for a week.
She chuckles. “Well, let them look at it. I need the Head of Interrogation by my side.” She closes her mouth and stares at him. It’s a taunt. He knows it.
He cleans his throat. “What if the other Kages know about my…” He doesn’t end his sentence. He simply lifts his hands.
The Hokage shrugs. “Let them know. I don’t think they can harm them. One of them is the Copy nin. And the other is the previous teacher of Naruto.” She smiles. “You are the Head of Interrogation. Nobody will harm them.” The smile is a soft one and filled with something he can’t name.
He frowns.
“I am serious, Morino. Nobody is going to harm them. I do think you should be prepared.” She smiles and relaxes in her chair.
Ibiki swallows and waits for her to tell him why he should prepare.
“You are going to be congratulated.”
