"Hey, did you hear?
Did you hear?
There's a new girl in Konoha.
She's a beauty."
When one spoke of the five kage, one images that she or he possesses vast powers by virtue of being a ninja above all other ninja, one who possessed jutsu beyond comparison, led an entire army of ninja.
This... wasn't false, and yet, having power didn't mean that said power could be wielded against all problems, a fact that few ninja under the rank of jounin understood. No, all they saw were the armies of ninja, the flashy instant death jutsu, and thus equated that with absolute power.
They didn't see the responsibilities that came with the position. The need to guide the village, to ensure a positive influx of money, supplies, and assorted resources, not least being more trained ninja.
Worse... the worse, of course, lay in the things that were distasteful but necessary such as what she needed to order, who she needed to speak with.
"Lady Hokage." Such as the one who had addressed her. A sly curving of lips that gave the impression of a vixen-like smile that some might call flirtatious. Tsunade knew better than to take it at face value.
After all, that woman was old. She had been part of the Old Man's generation. Not ancient, but still old in her own way. And more dangerously, she was a reputed member of certain factions within the Konoha underground. That she was in charge of the Loyalty and Retention Department just made her a more worrisome person that Tsunade wished had simply retired and went off to doddle growing plants in a garden some place out of the way.
"Huli." The tone of voice was professional, muted of emotional inflections. In its own way, it spoke volumes of her dislike of the situation she was in, the person she was speaking to. This was a tone of voice she had honed to perfection when she was growing up and having to deal with the politics that came with being the Princess of Konoha by virtue of being the granddaughter of the First Hokage.
"It has started. The seals will finish modifying the Uchiha's chakra coils in a day or so." There was an amused undertone in Huli's voice as she looked down at the naked boy strapped on padded table. The cool air making his balls pull even further into his body as if it knew what was planned for it even as the cock shrunk as blood was redirected elsewhere as there was no need for it to be hard. "The body will take another day after that. Then the fun part begins."
"So, on schedule then?" It was distasteful what was done to the 'last' Uchiha, Tsunade admitted to herself. And yet... it was, in a way, the most merciful option as the Uchiha bloodline would survive and even with care possibly return to a measure of viability. The boy would also live... for a given value of boy and live.
"Indeed, indeed." Huli nodded cheerfully, a pleased smile on her face. "Also, did you know that the silly dear thought that a mind and body transformation could be done with a single jutsu and held permanently?"
The curve of the lips and the manner that she looked at Sasuke turned mocking as she continued to speak while a finger lightly traced the seals inked on to his body, the intricate design of the chakra conducting giving the appearance of art work than a complex technique that remodeled chakra pathways in much the manner that humans performed landscaping. "Whatever are they teaching in that dreary little school nowadays?"
This, was part of why she felt it was distasteful to have to deal with old busy bodies who had opinions on everything and were more than willing to expound on it.
... Not that she was any better in some regards, she mused herself as she gave in to the needling. "And I suppose that you having him in a genjutsu type effect that bypasses his ability to negate and thus free to tell him things that he would believe would have absolutely nothing to do with this belief?"
"Fuhuhuhuhuhu..." There was a slight cackling by Huli, there was genuine pleasure in it at getting Tsunade to reply waspishly. "It might have had some effect, I'll admit. Some but not all as absolute certainty would have stopped my words. Still, Lady Hokage, the boy is quite disrespectful towards kunoichi in general and too arrogant by far."
"Hmmmm?" A raised eyebrow was now directed at Huli as Tsunade turned her gaze from the Uchiha. "Really?"
"Oh yes." There was another nod by Huli, the crimson bangs in front of her eyes swinging wildly from the nod. "His impression of you was associated with cows. But so was his impression of me when his thoughts drifted that way."
"I see." The displeasure was quite clear in Tsunade's voice as she walked out of the room deep in the plateau behind the Hokage monument. "Well, do what you have to."
"She's an Uchiha too!
An Uchiha!
The brothers traitor were not the last.
She moved here before the last traitor ran off."
For a girl like Satsuki, Konoha was a wonder.
It was clean in a way that the city she had grown up in hadn't been. There were no stray animals, no homeless men setting up their homes in dirty squalid middens.
It had a clean purity that spoke of something that had grown healthy in the light of day, its roots reaching deep into the earth.
But more than that, it was a slow awareness that the people of Konoha were actually nice. They were friendly. There was no desperate hunger behind their polite looks and words. There was no hunger, nor were there any homeless, children or adult.
Konoha was wealthy.
The orphans lived in splendid orphanages, they were given education that only those with families with money outside could afford. Those who possessed not the requirements to be a ninja or didn't desire to be such were taught trades and apprenticed to businesses that suited them. There were no laws against beggars, but there were no beggars.
She had actually investigated on why this was so... and the answer was surprisingly simply, Konoha was always on the look out for workers and were willing to hire people. And for those newly arrived (like her), who were poor (like her), Konoha was willing to extend lines of credit until she got a proper standing on her own feet.
Which was why she was grateful to the nin who had found her when she turned on her bloodline limit or whatever magic they called her spinny eyes. It was because of her eyes she had been brought to Konoha. Provided a clan name, access to their bank...
And the most important part, she was to be introduced to the other living Uchiha. She'd seen him in action at the stadium despite his late arrival and the fit of sleepiness that had struck everyone before Konoha got invaded.
The invasion had ended before she woke up... but even ruined, Konoha had not fallen into despair, nor did things get desperate. Instead, it was rebuild within the month, leaving no evidence of the attack having ever take place.
There was only one problem, for she had kept putting off meeting him due to all the testing and when she had gone to meet him... Uchiha Sasuke had gotten himself killed trying to defect from Konoha.
Something unthinkable for a girl like Satsuki.
"A true Uchiha,
even if not pure blooded.
Loyal, unlike the pure blooded brothers."
For someone who was born to a whore, Satsuki was no stranger to the power that money allowed one to command. It was just that she had never expected herself to be on the other hand of that equation.
Satsuki had known hunger... still despite the poverty of Mizuno Mikoto, the woman who had raised her had ensured that she always had something to eat, even if the food wasn't the best. The stories of the whores with hearts of gold were a dozen to the yen, but for the young girl, it had been a truth.
It was clear that Mikoto hadn't been Satsuki's mother, and she'd never ask the woman about her mother... and when she had thought to ask, Mikoto had been dead for years. She'd had to make her way much like Mikoto had, selling her body for a paltry sum of money over and over. The mama of the brothel she'd worked at had auctioned off her first time... and that was how things had gone since then... down to the day when the ninja who ran into her with her crimson eyes going spinny, before she spoke to the mama of the brothel and bought her contract.
For all of her life, money was a thing beyond Satsuki's reach and now... she had been gifted the accounts and properties of the Uchiha clan as she was now the last Uchiha. Such things were but unneeded burdens for her and thus... it had only been natural for her to sell the properties to the Hokage and the village.
True, she was aware that the money that she had gotten wasn't equal to an insignificant fraction of the properties' true value. And yet, it wasn't truly hers, it had belonged to a long dead clan to whom she shared blood. It wasn't as if she knew what to do with said properties... and, the amount of money she had acquired allowed her to do as she wished. To live without having to work unless she wished to.
Which was why she was seated at a restaurant and making googly eyes at the teammates of Uchiha Sasuke. "I hope you don't mind my requesting this, Miss Haruno and Mister Uzumaki."
"Hmmm? It does seem odd, I suppose... to be requested for what is basically a lunch with Sasuke's teammates, Miss Uchiha." There was a bemused look on the pink kunoichi's face as she took in the beauty before her, from the classical pale complexion, to the long flowing blue black hair, to the rather... impressive endowment beneath a simple and understated dark blue kimono. "But I don't mind it... if only all ninja missions were this easy and peaceful."
"Ha ha ha... yeah, it'd be nice," The blonde nodded happily. "But that'd mean we wouldn't be able to show off our jutsu and stuff... you know."
"Well... I suppose, it seems like it'd be scary to have to fight... but I guess that's why I'm just a civilian and not a ninja like you." Satsuki's reply was slow and considering as she tapped her delicate pink lips. "But I guess... I just wanted to know more about Sasuke, since he was well... a relative and I was going to talk to him... before... you know."
There was a wince from both ninja at that reminder of the loss of their teammate. "I don't think either of us have a problem with that, right Naruto."
"Yeah... believe it." The smile from Uzumaki Naruto was radiant as it was directed at Satsuki, the simple purity of it made her curl her toes as she found herself getting slightly moist. There was something in that smile that made her want to simply pin him to a bed or a bench and simply ground her hips against his, to ride him until he reached the heavens and clouds beneath her ministrations.
"I heard... I heard!
She inherited the Uchiha properties,
but signed it over to the Hokage.
Said it didn't really feel like 'hers'."
