A year and six months later-
Naru walked through the leaf village gates like she owned them. Leaving her daughter Shi in her godfather's care as she ran ahead a little bit and climbed a telephone pole so that she could look over the village that she called home.
"Hello Kanoha! I'm back!" She called as she looked over the parts of the village that she could see. Some people stopped what they were doing to look at her as Jiraiya came through the gate with Shi cradled in one arm sleeping, not the least bit interested in the world around her.
"Oi, Naruto! Get down here and take Shi-" Jiraiya called out as his student turned to look at him and nearly fell off of the pole. Ditz. He thought with a grin. Some things never changed.
Naru jumped down and landed right in front of him and he grinned even more as she reached out and took her daughter from him and cuddled the child against her chest as she stirred slightly in her sleep before burying her little face against Naru's jacket and sucking her thumb as she went back to sleep.
Kotetsu and Radio smiled as she turned around to look at them when they called out a greeting. "Hey, Naruto welcome back from training!" Kotetsu all but yelled as he left his post to run up to her and pat her on the head, it was surprising to her just how much he had changed after the third part of the chunin exam five years ago.
"Hey, Kotetsu, Radio, how have you guys been?" She asked politely as she covered Shi's exposed ear to keep her from being disturbed as the two men grinned happily.
"We're good."
"Where did that baby come from? Is she one of Lord Jiraiya's many bastard children?" Radio asked teasingly as he looked at Shi, Naru made a low threatening sound and stepped up to the taller man until there was only an inch separating them and growled at him.
"Don't you ever talk about my daughter like that again." Radio took a sudden step back, his face pale as he stared at her, Kotetsu looked equally shocked to know that the baby was hers.
It was'nt difficult to understand why since they, like so many others in the village thought that she was a boy.
That and she was supposedly as mature as a five year old or at least that's how she usually acted to throw the villagers off of her real personality.
So naturally it was a little more than a shock to them. "Oh man, I'm sorry Naruto. I didn't mean anything by it, I swear." Radio said after he had had a second or so to process what she had told them and got over his initial shock.
Naru shrugged her shoulders and smiled at him, she knew that he had'nt meant any harm, so she could forgive him. This time.
"Well, I guess congradulations are in order. Where is the mother? You did bring her with you right?" Kotetsu asked as he leaned over and lightly ran the back of his index finger across Shi's cheek and smiled at her.
Naru was about to say something when Jiraiya walked over to her and put his hand on her head and said, "We could'nt bring the mother, Kotetsu. She died in child birth and Naruto is all the little one has." Naru stayed quiet as a sad look Kotetsu's face.
It was common knowledge that the man's girlfriend had died five years ago when the sand village had attacked, she had went into labor prematurely when she had suffered a wound when a building had collapsed on top of her.
Kotetsu had been one of the ones to help try and dig her out. It had taken four days, four days of listening to his loved one scream and cry in agony and beg for him to get her out of there.
But she and the baby had been dead before he could get to them and he had'nt really gotten over the loss yet.
"I see. I'm sorry for your loss, Naruto." He said gently as he kicked at a small pebble on the ground. Naru looked at Jiraiya for a second before nodding her head, not really knowing what to say to the man.
"Yeah, thanks. We gotta get going now." Naru said as Jiraiya started to walk away, she turned to follow him but paused and glanced at the man over her shoulder and said.
"Kotetsu, if you ever need anything let me know." The man looked at her strangely for a second then smiled and nodded his head.
"Thanks Naruto." The blond's words touching him deeply. Naruto was a good kid, always had been. And Kotetsu knew that if he really needed something the boy would do what he could for him.
He's amazing. He thought as he turned and walked back to his post as Radio picked up the phone and started to call the Hokage to let her know that her ganki was back from training.
Tsunade was sitting at her desk when the phone across the room rang and Shizune hurried to answer it.
"Hello." She said softly and Tsunade wondered why she was speaking so low, did Shizune have a boyfriend that she didn't want her to know about or something?
"He is! Yes, yes, uh-huh, I'll tell her. Yes thank you, Radio." Shizune hung up the phone and turned to look at her, her excitment was barely concealed if the way she shifted from foot to foot was any indication at all.
Tsunade sighed, what kind of headache did she have to deal with now? She wondered as Shizune grinned at her. "Guess who's in the village."
"Dunno. Who?"
"Guess!"
"I don't feel like guessing now tell me wh-"
Tsunade paused in mid sentence as Sakura came barreling through the door yelling at the top of her lungs. "Naruto's back! Naruto's back!"

Tsunade smiled at her pink haired aprientice and stood up and glared at Shizune. "Well why didn't you just come out and say that in the first place? Lets go greet our knuckle head home."

Naru could'nt help but noticed that there were a lot of people staring at her as she walked through the street, many people pausing what they were doing to call out greetings to her and welcome her home while others told her to 'drop dead' and called her foul names.
One guy even went so far as to try and hit her when she had to go around a group of people talking in the street, and if it was'nt for Jiraiya she might have been hit, or Shi might have been hurt.
"Stay close to me." The sage whispered as he draped an arm around her shoulders, Naru nodded and glared at his hand because it was dangerously close to her breast.
He glanced over at her and quickly moved his hand so that it was resting on her other shoulder as they heard someone call out her name and turned to look at the tall brunette walking towards them.
"Shika!" Naru said happily as the young man stopped right in front of her and glanced at the baby and cocked his head but said nothing.
"I see that you've been busy with more than just training." He said half jokingly as his dark eyes flickered to her face. Naru blushed and stiffened. Just what the hell was he trying to say?
Shika smiled at her and held his arms out and wiggled his fingers at her. She looked at him funny as he said, "Idiot, don't just stand there give me a hug."
"Do I have too?" She asked nervously as she took a step back.
"Yes, now get over here and give me a hug." He said stubbornly as he took a step forward, his smile changing from happy to predatory. That was the thing with the Nara males, they got weird when you backed away from them.
And even though she knew that, she could'nt help herself.
"Actually I need to go and-"
"Bullshit, Naru. I already know that you’re a girl so stop looking so worried and give me a hug." She gaped at him and he leered at her just to make her squirm even more.
She turned pink and backed away from him again and he sighed and looked amused as he put his hands together so that he could use his shadow possession jutsu and nearly laughed himself silly when she squeaked and practically threw herself into his arms, startling the baby awake.
Poor kid. Shika thought in amusement as he hugged Naru as tightly as he dared without hurting the baby. "You’re a bastard Shika." Naru mumbled against his shoulder as he laughed before sobering.
"Yeah, well someone has to be. You look tired."
"I am." What with raising a kid all by herself and training even if she didn't have the time. Of course she was tired.
"I know, tell you what-" He let her go and reached into his back pocket and pulled out a key and put it in one of her hands, closing her fingers around it. "Go to my place and grab a nap, feed the baby, do whatever you need to do. I'll make sure that no one finds you until your feeling up to it, okay?" Shika said as he glanced at the baby again.
There was no two ways about it, the kid was an Uchiha. Her skin was too pale and her hair was too dark for her to be anyone else.
And her eyes...
Violet like Naru's.
Just what the fuck had happened while she was out of the village anyways? He wondered as he glanced at Jiraiya. He would know what happened, and why the Uchiha had Naru's eyes though it didn't take a genius to figure out everything, but that didn't mean that he didn't want to hear the words with his own ears. Someone had fucked up and he wanted to know who he would have to be on the look out for.
"Mmm, thanks Shika."
"No problem, I want to have a chat with Jiraiya-sama anyways." Shika said as he waved her off, she waved bye to him and took off running down the street apparently wanting to get to his place before someone else could stop her and ask her anything else.
Smart girl. He looked at the sage and gave him a pleasant smile as he seethed.
"Now, lets go talk in private about how Naru ended up with an Uchiha daughter."
"I can't tell you anything Shikamaru. Naru would never forgive me."
"I honestly don't care if she ever forgives either of us, I need to know everything so that I can help keep her and her daughter safe." Because it was only a matter of time before the one whom had sired the child came for them both.
