Darkness to Darkness Ch. 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sasuke let himself relax as the blond embraced him and kissed him over and over. It wasn't like he hadn't kissed a few guys before, but Naruto? Naruto was different. Each kiss conveyed a message of longing, of love and lust. Of someone who was lonely. The only thing Sasuke could do for him was to return the hugs and each kiss, delivering his message. Naruto almost clung to Sasuke, seeing Sasuke's reactions for what they were and silently thanked him for understanding. This was completely new to him. No one understood him this much... not even Jiraiya, the only blood relative he had left. After what seemed like an eternity and a second all at once, Naruto finally pulled away and locked his gaze with Sasuke's. "You're just like me... we're the same and yet so different." The blonde ran the back of his hand along Sasuke's soft pale cheek. "But I have to tell you, you scare the shit out of me..." "Hn. Good." Sasuke said as he held Naruto's hand to his cheek. "Some mysteries should always be left in friends; or relationships…" He trailed off, closing his eyes and feeling the heat from Naruto's hand on his cool cheek. "So warm..." Naruto wrapped his arms around Sasuke and pulled the smaller body closer to his, letting Sasuke's head rest on his shoulder. "You're making me fall so hard for you I'm practically drunk off of it... No one's ever made me feel like this before." Sasuke merely looked to Naruto, his eyes slightly glazed over. "That was...something I never had...” his voice said with a sense of lust. "That was amazing..." Naruto looked down into Sasuke's eyes and ran his fingers along the exposed skin of Sasuke's neck, just above the collar of his shirt. "I've never had a kiss that intense myself... Can I ask you something? And it's ok if you don't want too." "You can ask me anything." Sasuke said as he leaned into the touch of Naruto's hand. "But first...you have to answer me something." The Uchiha said; his voice suddenly stern. Naruto, hearing the tone for what it was, pulled back just a bit. "And what would that be?" "Why would you be interested in a guy like me?" Sasuke said as he pulled out of Naruto's hands and arms. "I’m nothing special." The blonde frowned at Sasuke's words. How could the raven even think such things? "You know, it's funny, I've never met you before tonight and I already feel like I've known you forever." He chuckled slightly. "Excuse my 'sap' but it's true... I'm very attracted to you Sasuke and I've already told you before, it was instantaneous..." Wrapping his arms around Sasuke again, Naruto leaned in to whisper into that perfectly shaped ear. "Does that satisfy you?" Sasuke was tense at how Naruto approached him, with just a simple hug. "Naruto...while that answer does satisfy my internal need, I don’t know much about you, and nor you me. Don’t you think we’re...moving too quickly...?" Naruto just laughed before letting go of Sasuke. "Are you always this paranoid? Trust me, I think you're sexy and hot and all that but I'd never ask you to go that far the first few hours after meeting each other." Naruto smiled and decided to just hold onto Sasuke's hand, that might make the raven feel a bit less crowded. "I told you earlier. I don't want to make you uncomfortable." Glancing down at the blonde's hand on top of his own, Sasuke overturned his hand to capture Naruto’s fingers. "Naruto, I like you...I really do and I’m not always so 'paranoid' as you put it, but I am cautious of whom I talk to. I won’t deny..." He paused as he looked up to gaze into Naruto's eyes. "…that I don’t feel something for you. It's something...burning...aching....longing..." Naruto blinked once, trying to wrap his mind around what Sasuke was telling him. He knew though what the raven was talking about, he felt it too but could not even begin to put words to what he felt. "Will you come home with me tonight?" It was what he had wanted to ask and immediately regretted it at the look on Sasuke's face. "I just want to talk and... it's getting a bit late to be out." "Hn." Sasuke said, immediately turned off by the very idea. Standing up, breaking the connection, Sasuke crossed his arms, placing that barrier back on. "I would like to go to my studio. I...I have some work to do." A clear lie to Sasuke, but maybe even plausible to Naruto. "Please take me home." Naruto sighed and stood up. "Look... I didn't mean it the way it sounded... I just want to talk to you somewhere else... you know, not outside." The blonde stood and walked around Sasuke so he was facing the shorter man. "I want nothing more than to get to know you Sasuke and I just figured...." He shrugged slightly. "Everyone would probably still be at your gallery anyway... And you're a terrible liar by the way." "I'd honestly rather face the people there than to go home with you." Sasuke muttered as he lowered his arms, now angry. Just as those words left his mouth, Sasuke immediately regretted saying them as he saw the hurt on Naruto's face. Naruto seemed like the type of guy that you can read clear as day. "Naruto...I'm sorry. I didn't mean it." "No, it's my fault. I shouldn't have even asked." He put on a smile, trying not to let the sting of Sasuke's words affect him too much. "I'll drive you home." And with that, he began to head back to the coffee shop. Sasuke pulled his jacket closer to him to prevent the chill from getting to his skin. "Naruto, please… I’m sorry. I mean it…” He slightly jogged up to the blond and was at his side. Naruto stopped and turned to Sasuke. "You really don't have to apologize. I understand... I don't want to overstep any boundaries but you have to trust me that I will never take advantage of you Sasuke." Sighing, he looked away from the raven. "I don't expect you to trust me right now, but I really hope that we can get to that point, you know... trust? I just want a chance with you." The wind blew a bit harsher and Sasuke shivered as he still pulled his jacket closer. What a night to be wearing a thin over jacket. Breathing in a shaky breath as he looked to Naruto, he nodded quickly. "Naruto...I told you...I feel the same as you. I...just don't think that right now..." The wind blew again and Sasuke hunched his shoulders, hating the thin skin that he wore. "Here..." Taking off his heavy coat, Naruto held it out to the raven. "Don't want you getting sick." he said with a smile. Sasuke weakly smiled as he took the jacket and wore it around his shoulders. "Thanks, but...what about you? Don't you need be warm as well?" Naruto waved off the idea. "Nah, I'll survive..." He frowned once more and met Sasuke’s eyes with a serious gaze. "This... whole thing..." he gestured at nothing in general.”...I'm sorry for pushing you too fast. Look, I'll drive you home and then when you want, you can call me. I'd love to go out with you again..." "Well...." Sasuke coughed into his wrist. "As you said...everyone would still be in the gallery....” he led Naruto on. "At least...let's go back to the shop. I think you got me a new addiction..." He smirked as he play punched the blonde's arm. Naruto smirked. "I knew you'd like it. You seem like the Chai type." He held out his hand, letting Sasuke make the choice of whether he wanted to or not. Glancing at the open palm gesture, the Uchiha nodded and softly placed his hand in Naruto’s, feeling the warmth seep into his own body. "I have to ask you. How do you stay so warm?" Naruto smiled and closed his hand around the chilled one. "Never mind that. Why are you so cold?" "Not to make a point to my own personality...I am always cold." He nodded and nuzzled into the soft coat. "You smell...nice. Like that new fragrance from Axe." "Not quite. My tastes run further than your everyday drug store... But the compliment is well appreciated." Naruto began to walk with Sasuke back to the coffee shop. He could do with another espresso anyway. "So... Is painting your official career or are you in school as well?" "As well? Meaning...you are just a student yourself?" Sasuke said as they approached the café. “I do some minor art teaching to the college students. Helps pay for some of the cheaper paints and brushes." "Damn... you're only 21 and teaching at college level? You must be a genius or something." Naruto pulled the door to the cafe open for Sasuke like he had earlier and waved with a wink to the barista. Sasuke nodded and handed Naruto back his jacket. "You'll need it back right...?" Naruto took the coat knowing that Sasuke wouldn't need it anymore tonight but wishing the man would have worn it for a bit longer. "I'm getting my Masters in business in about a month... graduating and all..." "Congratulations. I graduated about a year ago. What can I say... I am a genius." Naruto smiled. "I bet your students make up excuses to see you 'after class'... I can see it now... every girl in your class needing help with something." He saw the woman behind the counter hold up a cup in signal and he nodded to her. Sasuke rolled his eyes as waited for Naruto to return before he could tell him the truth. Naruto spoke with the young woman for a brief moment, the girl wanting to know who the cutie was. After playfully assuring her that she had no chance, he took their drinks and headed to the table that Sasuke had chosen to sit at. "Still cold?" he asked as he set Sasuke’s drink down. "A bit, but...I do have something to tell you, Naruto..." The blonde glanced over toward the gorgeous man. "And that would be...?" "You mentioned that all the girls would come onto me at school. Everyone needing a problem solved; right?" Naruto stared for a moment. Crap, what the hell had he said this time? "I was kidding Sasuke, I'm sure that doesn't happen." "It does....and often. And well...I'm gay." He shut up and looked to the side, holding the coffee cup tightly. "Well I kind of figured that since you said you were attracted to me... But if you don't like it, then why don't you just stop? I mean, your real passion is your art and you probably make much more doing that than you do teaching... So why bother if it's not your passion?" Naruto took a sip of his coffee and leaned back against the back of the chair. Sasuke said a bit annoyed. "I don't like selling my work...so I teach to make my ends meet.” "I don't really see what me being gay has to do with the fact that you're doing something you don't like..." Naruto's eyebrow twitched at Sasuke's annoyed tone. He really knew how to pick them... not that he would ever give up Sasuke but what did he expect from a kid? "Nothing...I'm just pointing out that I am gay. I know some people...who severely dislike gays and will not even see my work because I am, you know...gay." He gulped as he held the cup. Sasuke was honestly scared to what Naruto had to say. Naruto wanted to laugh, it almost escaped but he didn't let it. Sasuke was already embarrassed enough it seemed. "Well you can be assured that I have no problem with you being gay... The fact that I want to go out with you again should say so." His smiled reassuringly at Sasuke and reached his hand across the table to place it over Sasuke's. He really didn't care if anyone saw. Sasuke looked to their hands touching then to Naruto's blue eyes. Smirking, the raven leaned forward and pecked Naruto on the forehead. Naruto really didn't get Sasuke... maybe the kid was tired? "Why would you think I'd have a problem with it? I mean... I'm gay myself after all... I openly flirted with you, told you that you were attractive; what other confirmation do you need?" Sasuke nodded. "Nothing else; just that." He looked to Naruto and scooted his chair closer to the blonde, so that he wasn't across the table. "So... anything you want to know about me? Well... other than how old I am, that's a secret." He winked at Sasuke but couldn't keep the straight face. "Let me guess...." the raven said as he looked up and down at Naruto. "I think that you are older than me. Most likely by eight years at least. Getting a Masters takes work...and money. Writing your books, you make that money but you enjoyed it so much that you never focused back onto school until an event occurred and realized that you needed a higher education." "You're in the wrong profession Sasuke... you should work for the FBI as a profiler..." The blonde couldn’t help but laugh. "But as far as my degree goes... Nothing really happened for me to realize I need a higher education... I just want to have it, just in case my writing ever fails me." Smiling as he brushed a whiskered cheek, Sasuke frowned quickly. "Your cheeks, those whisker lines; at first I thought that they were a tattoo or something. But no, they’re scars..." Naruto lost his smile then. It was something he didn’t really like to talk about but it was something he would tell Sasuke... just not now. "Don't worry about that right now. I'll tell you when we've gotten to know each other a bit better." Sasuke may be willing to give out tidbits of tragedy in his life, but it wasn't so easy for Naruto. Withdrawing his hand, Sasuke nodded slowly. Who was he to force Naruto to say his darkest secrets? Just because he could, didn't give Sasuke the right to press on the issue. "Sure, no problem. By the way, you look like a fox with those." The smile was back but it was a bit difficult to find it this time. "You aren't the first to say so..." Naruto desperately wanted to change the subject. Finishing off his coffee, the blonde set the cup down and looked at Sasuke. "I should get you home... It's pretty late." "Oh...now you want to...?" Sasuke sarcastically said. "It's funny. The first night out and at the start I wanted to go back home, to shut myself in. Now...I want to go out and have fun.” The blonde raised an eyebrow at Sasuke's words. "It’s almost 1am..." "That late...?" Sasuke looked at the coffee shop clock and grinned. “Annett is going to give me hell about this later today..." Naruto smirked. "Well it serves her right for keeping you locked away in your dark tower, slaving over paint and canvas to meet her maniacal money wanting needs." Naruto felt a genuine smile this time as he teased the smaller man. "You shut it." Sasuke smirked as he tossed his empty drink cup away. "She's...kinda of a younger bossy sister. Can't live with her...can't live without her you know? Naruto just shook his head and stood. "Well either way, I should be heading home myself. I have a deadline coming up." Naruto took Sasuke's hand and lead him out of the cafe and to his car before unlocking it and opening the door for the raven. "You don't have to keep doing that you know. Just treat me like any normal person." He smiled, and kissed Naruto on a whiskered cheek and slid into the car seat anyway, to get out of the night air. Naruto shut the door and went around to the other side and got in. "Don't take it personally, I do it for everyone... Habit I suppose." It didn't take long to get to Sasuke’s apartment. Naruto felt a sadness descend over him just thinking about being away from Sasuke. He was done falling and had officially hit the proverbial ground that Sasuke walked on. "Do you want me to walk you up?" It sounded so cliché but he really did want too... He wanted to make their time together last as much as possible before Sasuke went into his apartment. Sasuke nodded, not wanting to depart from the blond either. It was far too soon to say good night, but each man had work to do once the sun rose. Naruto stepped out of the car and let Sasuke open his own door, just to humor the raven a bit. Linking their fingers together, Naruto let Sasuke lead the way. Sasuke took the key out of his pocket to open the back door, and there stood Annett, arms across her chest and scowling. “Crap...” Sasuke whispered out loud. "Hello Annett..." The petite woman glanced for a brief moment at Naruto before turning back to Sasuke. "Is that all you have to say to me? You were supposed to be at the exhibition the entire night Sasuke... I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm babysitting..." She looked back at Naruto again, almost like seeing him for the first time. "Who the hell are you? Are you the one that convinced Sasuke to leave? Do you have any idea how important it was that Sasuke be there tonight? Well?" Naruto stood there, mouth open. Then he regained his composure and fixed a glare on the woman. "It's not like I forced him... he wanted to go. You keep pushing these showings on him and he hates them, of course he wouldn't want to be there!" "Annett, please… Naruto invited me out. Otherwise I would be locked up in the studio working on God knows what." Sasuke stuffed his hand into his jacket pocket. "Listen to me. You make me attend these gallery openings and I can’t stand people especially in close quarters, all gawking at my work. I hate it." He looked to the side, not making contact with his manager. "Please...let me go inside..." The woman huffed but brushed passed the two men. "You know what... I've had it with you kid. All you do is complain about how I do things. It's all for you and what do I get for it? A brat who throws a tantrum every time I ask him to do something... But no more... I'm done with you Uchiha, find yourself a new manager." And with that the angry blonde stalked down the stairs, leaving the two men alone. Naruto looked from Sasuke, to the raven's ex manager and then back to Sasuke. What the hell just happened? "I think...I just fired her....?" Sasuke said confused as he looked at Annett’s retreating back. "She did a great job...expect for forcing me to attend. I can’t afford to lose her now. Annett, Annett!" He quickly took off at a fast pace to find her. Naruto quickly grabbed Sasuke's wrist and kept him where he was. "Maybe it was for the best Sasuke. She obviously didn't understand you or your work." "She's...also my only family left..." The Uchiha looked to Naruto and shook the blonde’s hand off and ran after his manager. Naruto sighed and slid down the wall to sit just outside the Uchiha's apartment. He'd wait for Sasuke... He was going to offer to take up the position of Sasuke's manager so he could spend more time with the raven... not to mention he wasn't bull headed like Annett. But who was he to tell Sasuke what he could and couldn't have? Twenty minutes went by and the Uchiha returned to Naruto's side and sat down on the cold cement. "She will come back...under one condition..." Sasuke said as he snapped his fingers and looked to the blond. Naruto felt emotionally drained. Maybe it was because of the rollercoaster he had been on all night being with Sasuke. His head stayed down, not having the energy to look at Sasuke. "And what’s that?" "I attend the next two gallery openings...no trouble. And I don't go back upstairs to 'work on stuff'." Sasuke muttered as he pulled his legs up. "I hate large groups of people." "If I were your manager I wouldn't make you do anything. I'd let you decide because you are your own person." Naruto leaned his head back against the wall with a small thud before look at Sasuke. "I better get going..." Sasuke looked to Naruto and sighed. "Do you really have to? I mean...It's just...big room...big bed...one...person.” He glanced away from Naruto, hiding his blush. "I would like you to be my manager but...I don't think that that would be a great idea. I like you too much and I’m worried that emotions will get the better or us." At Sasuke's invitation, Naruto suddenly felt the energy to pick his head up and he actually turned to Sasuke. "Don't invite me in if you're just doing it because it's what you think I want. If YOU really want me to stay... then I'd love too. And don't worry, I know the boundaries." Standing up, Naruto held out his hand for Sasuke to take so he could help him up as well. "In regards to being your manager... you already said you wanted to keep Annett, so I'll respect your decision." Sasuke took Naruto's hand to help himself up. "I do get lonely at night, I will admit that." The Uchiha smirked. "I have things for you to sleep in; however, I'm a hell of a lot smaller than you." Naruto just shook his head. "Don’t worry about that. I'll sleep in what I'm wearing." If it wasn't so late... or early, 2am according to his watch, he'd have politely declined but he honestly didn't think he could keep his eyes open long enough to drive home. Sasuke took the blonde’s hand and helped him inside the building. "Come on, my apartments on the third floor.” The Uchiha said as he pointed up the spiral staircase. "Careful, Annett is on the third floor as well, two doors past mine." "Oh joy..." were the blonde's muttered words as he followed Sasuke. "Did she move into the building to keep an eye on you or something?" Naruto didn't want to think he hated people... but Annett gave off a horrible impression on sight. "Kind of. She lives here two day before and after the gallery opening. To sort out the paintings and the money..." He shivered and became silent as he tiptoed past the door to Annett's apartment and opened the door to his, waving his hand to signal Naruto to come in. The blonde stepped in and looked around. It was pretty small studio apartment but what did he expect? Sasuke basically owned the whole section of the building so he figured the raven could live in any room he wanted. He noticed the walls were a dark blue with glowing white trails and swirls here and there... The night sky perhaps? "Did you paint the walls?" "Yeah....When I was a kid I loved astronomy, wanted to be an astronomer." He sat on the bed and looked at his sky window. "Until I later learned that you needed psychics. I was never good at math..." Naruto nodded and sat in a comfortable looking recliner. "You just keep getting more attractive the more I talk to you." He sat up a bit straighter for his next question. "I know we just met and everything but, I'd like to have a relationship with you sometime in the near future... Believe me I completely understand if I'm too old for you." "You are how old again?" Sasuke asked as he leaned on the bed, using his arms to keep himself up. "Honestly...I think being with someone older...might have its advantages." he mused to himself. Naruto chuckled. "Really now, like what? And I'm 29..." He felt the urge to sit next to Sasuke but sitting on the younger man's bed may send the wrong message. He knew Sasuke didn't want sex yet and to be honest, neither did he. Well… he WANTED it but he respected Sasuke a lot more than that. Not to mention he wanted this to work out between them. "I was thinking that since you are older you must have had some relationship experience right?" Sasuke asked. "I mean think about it. I've never had anyone. I'm sure you must have had at least one, right?" Naruto frowned and looked away. "Yeah... I've had quite a few." "Well...can you tell me...how many?" Sasuke asked as he lay down on the bed, staring up at the sky. Sighing, the blonde leaned back in the chair. "I'd rather not... your opinion of me might lessen. Trust me, it's a large number." "Please..." Sasuke pleased as he sat up and grabbed a pillow and hugged it as he turned to lay on his stomach to face Naruto. "You’re a flaming blond gay man who writes porn. It's not going to get any lower." He smirked giving his answer. "Well that's a lovely description of me... And I am not flaming. Not that I'd try, but I can pass as straight anytime I want. WOMEN fall all over me." Shaking his head, Naruto rested his chin in his hand. "But fine...I'll tell you. I've been in about seven semi-serious relationships since I was 21... One night stands are a much larger number..." He looked away with a small glare; he really didn’t want to tell Sasuke about that but the kid insisted. "Interesting. You and me, we are kind of the same. Those of the female population find me also sexually attractive. Weird." He shrugged and looked to the blond. "I have actually read a book of yours. Icha Icha Tactics, I think. Not that bad. I’ll admit that I got a little bit of myself off on it." Naruto raised an eyebrow, Icha Icha... OH! "Well then, you'll have to give my uncle credit for that... those are HIS books... mine are a bit more toned down." "Really? If yours are toned down then I wonder..." He looked to the side and thought for a moment. "You got a book on you? I'd like to give it a shot." As wonderful as the conversation with Sasuke was, Naruto found himself struggling to stay awake. "Sorry kid... not on me. But if you like I can bring you by one of them the next time I see you." Getting up from his bed, Sasuke approached Naruto, his hips swaying just a tad. "Naruto...?" Staring just a little too long, Naruto smirked before answering. "Sasuke..." There was a quick peck to the blonde's lips and a smiling Sasuke. "Time f or bed...and as weird as this is going to sound, that chair is not the best to sleep on. You are sharing my bed." -Such the commanding little bastard.- Naruto hesitated for a moment. "If it's all the same to you Sasuke, I'd rather stay on the chair. I don’t trust myself enough to share a bed with you yet." To take the slight sting out of his words, Naruto leaned up the last little bit it took to press his lips to Sasuke's for a slightly longer kiss. "Mmm..." Sasuke smiled and closed his eyes to the kiss. "Naruto..." He said as he fluttered his eyes open. "If you insist on the chair...you will be on the bed tomorrow; and me on top, giving you a massage to work out the knots." Was Sasuke... flirting with him? "Teasing, Sasuke? Not very nice..." "Never said I was." Sasuke smirked as he walked to the bed. "Here...." The raven tossed the blond a heavy blanket. "You'll need it. It gets chilly up here. Worst comes to worst, come here on the bed." Naruto couldn't take much more. Sasuke was definitely teasing and it was very difficult for the blonde not to do anything about it... He spread the blanket out and covered himself with it. The soft cotton smelled like Sasuke and somehow it aroused the blonde greatly. -Glad I didn't join him on the bed; I would have just ended up embarrassing myself.- Tossing the sheets over and stretching out, Sasuke looked to Naruto curled up in the blanket and stripped off his shirt and pants, thinking that the blond had already fallen asleep so he could switch into his pajamas, just a pair of sweat pants and an old t-shirt. Naruto tried not to look as Sasuke undressed but his eyes won out in the end and what he saw almost forced a moan out of him. That body was gorgeous... He said nothing though and looked away when the raven began to put on his sweats and it took no time at all for him to fall asleep. Crawling into bed, the raven yawned loudly and covered himself with the blanket and curled into the pillow and clapped his hands to turn off the lights. He wasn’t sure if he had made the right decision to let Naruto stay the night, after the fuss he made about not going home with the blonde… but to be honest, he felt a lot more comfortable having the blonde in his territory. He could just make out Naruto on his chair, and really hoped that this whole thing worked out, he really liked Naruto and he thought that the blonde would probably be good for him. With those thoughts in mind, it took the raven no time at all to fall asleep. Drams of blonde hair and blue eyes encompassing his sleep throughout the night. TBC Well, what do you guys think so far? I haven’t gotten too much feedback for the prologue but I’m curious! Please review!
