A/N:- Unfortunately I do not Own the Naruto Fandom, as much as I wish. Yada yada yada. Anyway, sorry these first two have been SHORT AS HELL. I promise they'll get longer, and much, much more interesting. Just stick with it, and keep the reviews coming. Thanks to you lot who reviewed the first chapter! I love you guys already. <33 Un-beta'd but I am looking for a proof-reader if anyone is interested! ---------------------------------------------------- His throat burned, as if fire licked rapidly at the heated flesh. He screamed, but no sound escaped, pale fingers tearing at damp, dark strands of hair. He felt his eyes melting in his skull, but he knew it couldn't be true because he could still see, even as the salty tears clouded up his vision from the pain. He fell to his knee's in the dark alley, the hard granite and pebbles cutting into his knee's as he keeled over, hands moving to claw at his back. It hurt, it burned; everywhere. What's happening?; his last thoughts as he collapsed to the ground, the darkness consuming his mind. ------ Naruto stared up at the old-run down bar, a wide-grin plastered on his face as he took in the familiar boarded-up windows, the sign reading; 'Spread Eagle' hanging limply from one nail. He could easily see the many bullet-holes piercing the wooden walls, and the darkened patches of burnt wood where fire had once threatened to burn his home down. With a content sigh, the blond hunter slowly opened the truck door and hopped down, closely followed by the rest of the gang. Without warning, something hard and flat smacked into the back of Naruto's head, sending him stumbling forward as he spluttered and quickly turned to point an accusing finger at the attacker, “Pervy-Gramps!! What the hell was that for?!” The tall man's eye twitched as he locked the truck, never taking his eyes off the blue-eyed blond, “For making us come get you, you ungrateful brat!” he ground out, grabbing the hunter into a headlock and proceeding to give him a few more good thumps on the head with his book. Naruto yelled and squirmed before finally sending a well-placed elbow into the older mans stomach and scrambling away as soon as the arm around his neck loosened. “Jiraiya! That's enough. As much as I'm enjoying watching Naruto get pummelled, I'm sure the rest of the team is hungry. I made it myself so you all better come and eat it before it gets cold..” “No way, Granny-Tsunade, you made food?? ...What kinda food..?” Naruto asked, blue eyes peering suspiciously at the busty-woman who'd interrupted them. “Ramen..” Tsunade growled, then quickly stepped out of the way of the entrance to the pub as a blur of blond hair shot past her and inside, soon followed by the rest of the gang, “Troublesome..” Shikamaru sighed, his hands shoved lazily into his pockets as he shuffled inside the pub. ------ He awoke slowly, his mind a haze as he finally took in his surroundings only to realise that he was moving; walking in-fact. For a moment he was confused, hadn't he only just woken up? He'd barely had time to stand up, let alone walk. Was he sleep-walking? Maybe someone was carrying him? But he wasn't a genius for nothing. His eyes widened in realisation, or at least, he felt like they did; only they didn't. His body's eyes stayed the same, narrowed, an accomplished smirk curling the corners of his pale lips as he stared down at a group of humans, watching as a large white haired man grabbed a smaller male into a headlock and beat him over the head with a book. “Fuck..” Sasuke whispered, panic taking him over as he realised exactly how much danger he was in, he couldn't control his own body because at the moment he wasn't the only one in it. Possession wasn't common for demons, he knew they only took those they deemed worthy, and as far as Sasuke knew, there was no way to get.. for lack of a better word, un-possessed. “I can hear you thinking away in there, Sasuke.. Don't even bother trying to hide anything from me..” A cold voice hissed, and Sasuke felt his lips move, in synch with the words, “Your mind belongs to me, now..” The voice cackled, and his lips turned into a full-blown smirk. “Who are you..?” Sasuke spoke, knowing the only one who would ever hear him now would be the demon possessing him. “My, my, my..” The demon crooned, and Sasuke almost flinched at the voice that was his own, but changed, “Not what, but who? You're taking this well, Sasuke-kun.” “Answer my question.” Sasuke demanded, squaring his shoulders as his eyes narrowed in determination; all mentally, but he knew the demon could feel it. “My name is Orochimaru, pet.. Now, enough with your questions, be silent.” The demon hissed, successfully pushing up the barriers that would keep Sasuke quiet. Sasuke punched and kicked at the barriers for what felt like hours, trying to break through to scream at the demon who had unexpectedly taken his body in the hours of the night. ------ “Hoc non tuum corpus sumere, dimitte, dimitte. Revertere--- Errr... Godamn!” Naruto shouted, blue, sapphire eyes glued to the small notebook clutched in his hands. He was rewarded with a thump to the head. “Again!” Tsunade demanded, arms folding over her chest while she glared down at the male, “You have to get this right and remember it, Naruto. What good will it do if we lose the book?” “I know! I'm trying! It's not everyday you have to learn a whole paragraph in another language to return demons to the underworld, damnit!” “Shut up Brat! Everyone else will be doing it, too! Stop complaining and start again!” Naruto huffed indignantly, glaring up at the blond woman before rolling his eyes and turning his attention back to the notebook. “Hoc non tuum corpus sumere, dimitte, dimitte. Revertere...unde venistis, dimitte, dimitte...Imnon bonum scribere carmina dimitte, dimitte.” “And again.” The hunter growled, eyebrow twitching as he re-read the paragraph outloud perfectly before the book was snatched from his hands, “What the hell!?” “Again.” “Come on! I can't remember all that!” “Try..” “Fine!! Hoc non tu--... tuum?? Corpus.. Sumere...Oh for..!” Another smack to the head. “Again.” And so it went, for two hours straight. 10 minutes of Naruto reciting the lines from the book, then another 10 minutes of him reciting the lines from memory. On and on and on. “Hoc non tuum corpus sumere, dimitte, dimitte. Revertere unde venistis, dimitte, dimitte. Imnon bonum scribere...carmina dimitte, dimitte!” “You paused near the end..” Tsunade sighed. “No I didn't! I was catching my breath! I know the words, test me tomorrow. I'm tired, and I want to sleep Tsunade-baachan” The hunter whined, slumping back into his seat. Tsunade rolled her eyes, but upon seeing Narutos sleepy gaze and wide-yawn, she decided against demanding him to keep repeating the incantation, she cared for him after all. “Fine.. But you'll be doing this tomorrow until you've got it so deeply imprinted into the front of your mind, that you'll never forget.” With that said, she turned and walked out the door, leaving Naruto sprawled on the couch. ------ The next day was much the same for the first part, only this time, Kiba and Shikamaru were learning the words too. Everyone needed to know them, especially if they actually worked. “Hoc non tuum corpus sumere, dimitte, dimitte. Revertere...unde venistis, dimitte, dimitte...Imnon bonum scribere carmina dimitte, dimitte...” Shikamaru sighed, resting his head back against the wall, his arms folded over his stomach. Naruto gaped at him, blue eyes wide, “Shika.. I always knew you were a genius, but to get it on your first try..?” The blond hunter shook his head, “Impossible!” “C'mon kid, just because you've got half a brain and it takes you two hours to learn it, doesn't mean everyone else is just as dumb.” Kiba piped up, brown eyes reading over the paragraph repeatedly. “Tche! Like to see how long it's going to take you to learn..” “Just you wait, kid! I'll have this down in no time!” Kiba growled, fingers tightening on the notebook. Naruto just laughed. It took Kiba 3 hours. ------ “Get out of my body, you snake..” The barriers had finally been lifted. Whatever it was Orochimaru was looking for, Sasuke wasn't sure he wanted to know. “Fiesty today, aren't we? I could feel you scratching away in there for hours.” The demon chuckled, Sasuke blanched; did his laugh really sound that.. creepy? “I've been watching you for a while now, Sasuke-kun. I know what a good little hunter you are.. I'm not giving your body back.” Sasuke was silent, watching the path ahead of him-- them. 'They' were deep into the city now, and Sasuke was almost sickened as to how empty it was. The leaf country had always thrived, one of the many reasons the dark-haired hunter had wanted to move his compound there; as anti-social as he was, what good was a whole estate without people? Now the city that had once been full of people and children seemed dead and grey. “Do you like what we've done to Konoha, Sasuke-kun..?” The demon chuckled, his- no, Sasuke's, damnit- onyx eyes settling on an empty playground. The swings had recently been snapped from the chains. The slide had new dints and holes, and the roundabout was tilted, unusable. Sasuke remembered walking by the park a few times on his short visit to his future home. The children would be laughing, screaming in joy. “Screaming in terror..” Orochimaru hissed and smirked, Sasuke shivered. ------ “Alright guys, as much as we'd love to send these demons back to where they came from, at the minute we have other issues. There's been a report in Suna. Two victims, one dead, the other barely alive. Looks to be some kind of animal attack, but that's all we know. I've got a few idea's, some more likely than others, but for now; Naruto, Shikamaru, Kakashi. You three are on the case. Kiba, Temari, keep studying.” Naruto grinned widely, he hadn't had a new case in a while. Sure it wasn't a good thing people were... you know, dying around them, but it was much more interesting than sitting around waiting for a few demons to attack. “Bet you 50 it's a werewolf.” Naruto quipped, turning to Kakashi. “You're on.” Kakashi shrugged then turned, making his way outside to the truck. “Suna's a good few hours away, Naruto. Take some snacks and water.” Tsunade sighed, already thrusting three flasks into Naruto's arms, along with 3 boxes packed with food. “Be careful out there.” “Oh we will!” Naruto chimed, food and drinks in arm as he all but skipped out the door, Shikamaru muttering behind him.
