The forest was thick and dark the scent of danger lingered in the air as a flash of gold blazed through the thick underbrush. Naruto was quick and cunning as his mother but strong like his father. Despite his prowess among the foxes. He knew he was no match for even the smallest wolf. He didn't want to be some wolf's lunch so he went as silently as he could. He could smell wolves, but it wasn't strong. The absence of any prey didn't go unnoticed however. Something big and dangerous was lurking in the woods.

Something dangerous big black and shaggy watched the golden blur as it rushed past. It licked sharp canines in appreciation for the pretty scent. Yes it was very pretty, but definitely male. The wolf didn't care because he was going to eat the pretty fox for lunch so it was best not to dwell on how beautiful the smaller animal was.
He cautiously trailed after the golden beauty appreciating the shiny gold fur and the cute little tail that swished nervously. He heard a faint growl from the fox; it was more like a kitten's purr to him. The fox didn't look back but with a sudden burst of speed he was out of sight. The black wolf picked up the pace soon gaining on the little fox. Suddenly he stopped cursing, "Damn! He's in the bitch's territory. He whined. No wolf dared entered the bitch Tsunade's territory. She held magic and would curse the wolf tribe. She had before and his mother died queening him and the rest of her litter was lost. His father was caught and killed by the hairless beasts. The ones called man prized their skins. He sighed and turned around to wait for the pretty fox to come out. He laid down in some brush where he could watch in quiet.

Naruto had sensed the larger predator. He picked up his pace and soon felt that he was somewhere safe, though unnerving. There were no scents at all, no sounds either. No birds, or mice let alone rabbits. No lizards or small snakes no wonder Lady Tsunade needed food brought to her. Then he heard some rustling. He yipped in surprise as a bluish black triangular face appeared.

"Sorry, didn't mean to frighten you..." The fox tilted her head, "Oh I thought you were someone else. You look like Kushina."

"Momma? She always said I favored my Pop."

.

"Ahhh, you must be little Naruto! I haven't seen you since you were a whelp. You have grown." She smiled showing a pink tongue and white teeth.

"I brought the medicine and a rabbit for Lady Tsunade, Momma said I might meet you." he smiled at the blue-black fox.

"Good, I'll show the rest of the way. Tsunade will be glad to see you. She always wished she weren't too weak to leave the cave since her accident..." Shizune looked at the ground sadly.

Naruto didn't press for information since it seemed like a sensitive issue. Shizune turned with a mournful sigh and ran toward a rocky cliff-face. Naruto followed her wondering where she was leading him. He was not surprised to see a well hidden entrance, but he was surprised by the vastness of the cave system. Naruto noticed that a small stream poured out of the entrance, but there was a ledge that one could easily climb on to avoid getting wet. Shizune snickered at his awe struck and fearful face.

"Who-who carved these caves? I've never seen a den this huge before. He snapped his jaw shut at the sound of echoes yipping and turning to make sure they had not been followed.

"The great Kyuubi is said to have made these for her children, the golden foxes..."

Naruto's sapphire eyes widened in shock, "I'm a child of the great Kyuubi?"

"Well more like great, great, great...you get it...great grandchild. Tsunade said that a great river ran underground a long time ago. Long before the men came," Shizune looked at the curious young fox who seemed confused, "I mean those hairless beasts with boom sticks."

"Oh," Naruto nodded in understanding, "But I thought you had said the Kyuubi made the caves."

.

"Yes well it is a legend, but it is said that this very valley was once dry and barren, but the godly vixen sniffed out a great source of water. She carved the entrance so that the waters flowed out into the valley, and when the waters receded there was lush green in place of the dust that had ruled everything. When she saw only a small river was left she entered the caverns seeing it as a perfect place to reside she took a mate from the stars...a silver fox. They had pure gold and pure silver kits who in turn fathered the races of the gold and silver foxes." Naruto smiled almost forgetting the reason for his visit. He picked up the almost forgotten items where he had set them and motioned Shizune to take him to the old fox.

Leaves rustled behind the nearly sleeping wolf. His ears perked up, "Go away Itachi." The younger wolf barked.

.

"That's no way to talk to your brother, elder and alpha," Itachi growled back with a teasing note in his voice, "So little brother what business do you have with that old witch Tsunade? Tempting fate? Sasuke?" Itachi sat beside him.

"If you must know a delicious little golden fox went into her territory and I am waiting him out," Sasuke grunted as his brother tried to roll him, engaging in a play fight.

.

"Hmm, you planning to eat it or play with it," Itachi sniffed, "You want to mate it. Don't deny me I can smell your arousal. This vixen has caught your eye."

"It is a todd** not a vixen...and no, I was planning on eating him, nothing else," Sasuke said firmly. Itachi chuckled and laid in wait to see the fox that had his cold little brother so excited.

Naruto nervously approached the den that was pointed out to him. He tripped carefully as he entered with his head bowed in respect. He dropped his offering at her feet humbly, "Lady Tsunade, my mother sends her best and asked for me to deliver this meat and medicine to you."

"Naruto?" The question was spoken in a way that indicated she knew it was him. He nodded, "Lift your eyes let me look at you." He saw a very lovely vixen if he didn't know any better he would have to say she was in the prime of her breeding years. Her fur was silky and slightly longer then his own. Her eyes were like molten amber. Her ears were alert and three of her legs were long and slender. Her fourth leg was withered, but it did not subtract from her beauty it actually enhanced it seeing something so ugly on such a beautiful creature made her seem real. Naruto felt stirrings of desire but he squelched them thinking of his intended. Tsunade chuckled in a deep honeyed voice, "So like your father, and don't think I can't smell your musk, but remember a coupling with me will bring you no kits." Naruto blushed through his golden fur.

"I-I'm sorry ma'am," he bowed lowly in shame.

"Get up off the floor you brat," She commanded.

.

Naruto barked suddenly, "I'm not a brat, you-you old HAG!"

.

The woman was taken aback for a second before registering the insult, "Why you little!" She growled and nipped him on the same ear his mother had bitten earlier making him yelp.

Shizune laughed heartily, "Yes Lady, he is just like Minato!" The old vixen glared at her warningly. Shizune continued to giggle but said nothing else.

Naruto wanted to run out in shame he had embarrassed his mother, "S-sorry ma'am I forgot myself."

"its fine I was too harsh anyway, but do not bow so lowly, you are prince of the golden fox tribe, what's left of it anyway."

.

"Yes ma'am," he knew he was a prince, but he didn't want to act like one.

"Thank you for the assistance. I was worrying I might actually have to show my face. I might get claimed by someone less level headed then yourself," She gave a hidden complement.

"I-I must go now I am expected back soon," he bowed quickly and turned to go.

"Hey brat!" She called to him suddenly, "Be careful and say thanks to your mother for me."

.

"Will do Granny!" he ran out snickering as he heard a loud barking.

.

"Get back here you little hooligan so I can teach you some respect!"
