Different.

Thank you for the feedback on the last chapter. I was surprised to see that so many of you enjoyed that chapter. And so, upon further decision, I have decided to continue the story considering you all liked it so much. I hope not to disappoint you with this chapter. Please, enjoy the reading as the story continues. ^_^

This story is based on the #1 best selling novel called Evermore by Alyson Noel with a few changes. If you haven't read that book, you really should. It's an excellent read.

-----------

He hadn't expected something like that to happen when he had brushed up against Sasuke's shoulder that morning. Nothing like that had ever happened to him before. No one had ever been able to silence the voices and thoughts in his mind.

No one except Sasuke, that is. He wanted to feel that sensation again, but he wasn't sure how that would happen considering that Sasuke was somehow friends with the biggest bully on campus; Ino Yamanaka. Naruto knew that there was much more to her than her popularity and looks and how she obtained that.

The fact that he could ruin her at any point in time if he wanted to scratched at the back of his mind every time she made a gay joke towards him.

He was so lost in thought at the moment that he didn't hear Sasuke's voice when he walked past him. Looking up, Naruto blushed and cleared his throat as he stood in front of the raven haired male. The man was beautiful beyond belief and he couldn't understand why Sasuke was even talking to him.

That was when he noticed the notebook and stared down at it.

"My notebook..." he said, and reached out for it, but Sasuke pulled it away from him with a smirk as he stared at him.

"Your name is Naruto, isn't it?" he asked with a soft voice.

"Yeah, what of it?" he asked, only wanting his notebook back so he could do his homework.

Did he have to be such a prick about it?

"I apologize about my friend's behavior earlier. I had a chat with her, and she won't be doing that again anytime soon..." he said, smiling at the blond.

Naruto's eyes widened, what buisness is that of his to be poking around in the blond's affairs?! It's true that he should have been greateful, but didn't it seem like the blond could handle it on his own?

Sasuke shook his head.

"You were crying earlier today."

"H-how'd you know that?" Naruto gasped.

"Let me make it up to you."

"But..."

"If you want your notebook back, that is." Sasuke chuckled as he waved the notebook out in front of him.

"You prick! Is this your sick way of coming onto me?!" he asked, huffing as a blush appeared across his cheeks.

Sasuke laughed slightly as he watched Naruto and his childish antics. He was simply adorable when he pouted in anger towards him. The raven shook his head, and smiled.

"No, just a way to apologize, that's all. Nothing more and nothing less."

The more Naruto thought about it, the more tempting it became. He wanted to get to know him - Naruto had the ability to see other's auras which was the energy field around them, but with Sasuke...he couldn't see anything. Usually it ranged from a variety of colors, but when he looked at Sasuke he couldn't see anything.

"Fine. Just give me my notebook back when you're done, okay?" he said and pouted as Sasuke lead him towards his convertable.

In California it wasn't odd to see someone with a convertable, but Sasuke's car was a shinny black that suited him perfectly. As they walked towards the car, Sasuke opened the passenger's seat for the blond and Naruto stared at him as he sat down in the seat, watching as Sasuke closed the door and walked towards the driver's seat. He put the car in gear and drove down the highway, looking over at the blond occationally.

"What?"

Sasuke shook his head, "Nothing," he said, and cleared his throat, "Where do you want to eat?" he asked.

"I suppose The Dinner," he said, unsure of where to go.

Naruto wasn't used to being the one choosing so it made it awkward for him to pick somewhere to go.

"Are you sure? You know...You could pick anywhere you want..."

"I'm fine."

"All right."

They arrived at The Dinner and not a lot of people were there since it was only a Wednesday evening. Naruto felt slightly awkward as he walked in beside another guy. Since everyone in the town knew of his sexuality they must have been thinking that he was bagging a boyfriend finally. He felt rather embarassed to see everyone staring and not being able to read what they were thinking.

Maybe it was a bad idea for him to accept Sasuke's request to take him to dinner. Then again if he was like the rest of them he wouldn't leave Naruto alone until he got what he wanted. Sasuke smirked as he looked over at the blond as though he knew exactly what Naruto was thinking.

"So how long have you been living here?" the blond asked.

"A few days," the raven replied.

"How do you like it?"

"Well, the people are nice.."

"Is that the only thing you like about it here, though?"

Sasuke chuckled. "No, of course not. But the ocean isn't as beautiful when you can share it with someone." he said and looked down at the counter, looking rather lonely.

"Oh.."

"What can I get you, Naruto?" Mizuki said and looked down at him smiling.

"Oh, just a bowl of Miso Ramen, please."

"And you, Sir?"

"I'll have a bowl of Rice." the raven said and nodded towards the waitress who blushed at him as she went to the back to make their orders.

Sasuke placed a hand on Naruto's sunkissed skin and stared him in the eyes. The blond was radiant - that much was for certain, and he really wanted to reach out to him. He hid himself under hoodies and sunglasses, but he could see that the boy was truely beautiful underneath all of that.

The blond remained silent as his heart started to pound against his chest. He couldn't figure out what it was about Sasuke, but he wanted to know more about him. He seemed so far away, so distant from this world that it was like he was on another plane. He could just barely grasp it, but Sasuke wasn't like the other people at school.

"What's wrong?" Sasuke asked.

"It's nothing," Naruto said and looked down.

"Why are you being so nice to me?"

Sasuke raised an eyebrow.

"You act like it's a crime, Naruto..."

"Everyone else isn't, so why...why are you so different?"

Sasuke took a drink from a bottle that had no labels, no description, and licked the edge of the bottle. It was like a red liquid that dripped from his lips as he looked over at him.

"I'm different because I care? That's odd, Naruto," he said, and laughed, handing him the green notebook that he had been holding hostage from the blond.

Naruto rolled his eyes as their dinner arrived and began to eat his bowl of ramen as he listened to Sasuke talk. It seemed that he had been in a variety of places before he moved to Laguna Beach. Some seven to ten places before now.

It made him think of how long he would be sticking around California for. When he was finished, Naruto put his bowl down and made a decision. He was going to pay Sasuke back for the meal.

Sasuke stopped talking as he bit into his rice. He barely even ate most of it - mostly pushing it aside in his bowl as he spoke to the blond. He found it odd that Sasuke didn't eat very much, but then again he was incredibly skinny and pale.

"Should I take you home? You look like you're getting bored of me," the raven said with a smirk.

"Oh...n-no I wasn't, I'm just a little tired is all..."

Biggest lie in the world.

He really didn't want to return home to his aunt's empty mansion, and stay there alone. He enjoyed Sasuke's company, he really did, but he didn't want to become someone's charity case. That was all.

"All right, then let's go," he said, and sat up from the stool, taking Naruto by the hand as the raven did so.

It was like he wasn't shy at all about his sexuality.

Naruto quickly grabbed his notebook after putting down a few dollars for the tip and raced Sasuke back to the car laughing with him.

"So, where do you live?" the raven asked as he looked over to the blond, starting up the car.

"Coastside Road." he said, and Sasuke nodded.

There was a GPS on the dashboard and Sasuke punched in the name of his street and instantly got a response with complete directions and everything.

"Wow, I've never seen one of those!" he said, and looked over at Sasuke.

"I got it when I moved here so I wouldn't get lost," Sasuke explained and started driving towards Naruto's house.

"Oh..."

It was mostly quiet on the way towards the blond's house. Naruto wasn't sure of what to say or even do for that matter. The summer breeze felt nice against his dirty blond hair, and he closed his eyes as he rested his head against the back of the seat. That was when he realized they were finally to his aunt's home.

Sasuke got out of his seat and opened the door for Naruto just as he had done when he got to the restaurant. The blond got out of the car and stood next to it, looking up at the raven.

"That was fun. I should have asked you a long time ago." he said with a smirk.

He wanted to lean in, press his lips against the blonde's and lose himself in the taste of that sunkissed tan, but that would be too soon for this. The blond was still untrusting of him, and he could tell too. He would have to spend a little more time with him before that could happen.

"Yeah, we need to do it again sometime.."

"Really?" Sasuke asked.

Naruto blushed and nodded; did he really just agree to another date with him?

"All right. I'll pick you up next Saturday at eight."

"Saturday at eight, okay..." Naruto confirmed.

Sasuke leaned forward and Naruto blushed, his heart pounded against his chest. His mind told him to run before he would get hurt by him. However, his legs wouldn't allow him to move. He just stood there as Sasuke parted his lips and brushed them against Naruto's.

"Goodnight." he said before getting into his car, and leaving the blond's house without another word.
