Chapter 2
The first thing Hanabi became aware of was light. A lot of
it. Shining on her face. Groaning, she pulled the covers over her head, only to
have something pull them off her completely, and bathing her face in sunlight.
She sat up quickly, ready to kill the offender; when Hanabi wanted to get up,
she would when she felt like it, and not a minute before. Her threat and her
rage died in an instant, however, when she saw the grinning perpetrator.
“Hey, cutie, time to get up,” Naruto said cheerfully,
dressed in his usual orange pants and a black sleeveless shirt. “I got
breakfast ready, and Hinata’s come back with news.” He dropped the covers to
the floor, and shook his head, the grin never leaving his face. “Whatever you
girls planned must have worked, ‘cause she’s practically bouncing.” Naruto
turned and headed out the door, calling back over his shoulder. “By the way,
you might want to put some clothes on. Undressing a girl is easy, but
redressing them isn’t.”
Hanabi sat in bed a few moments,
listening to his footsteps retreat down the stairs, and trying to gather her
thoughts. Undress? Redress? What did he mean? And why was he in her room?
Suddenly, the memories of the previous night’s activities
came rushing back to her. Her confession, his acceptance and… Hanabi blushed a
deep scarlet, as she relived everything in her mind. She had really done it.
She had made love with her crush, and he had been everything she hoped for. And
if Hinata’s plan had really gotten approval…
Without a second thought, Hanabi jumped out of bed and
dressed in the clothes she had worn the day before, then hurried down the
stairs, taking them two at a time. When she reached the dining room, she saw
that Naruto and Hinata were deep in conversation. Hinata had a sly smile, and
Naruto looked extremely nervous. Both of them stopped talking and looked up
when Hanabi sat at the table across from them.
Silence reigned for a few minutes at the table before anyone
spoke. “So,” started Hinata, the smile having never left her face. “Was he
everything you hoped?”
“Better,” Hanabi replied before she could stop herself. She
immediately blushed again and lowered her face, determined not to look her
sister in the eye. Without lifting her head, she spoke again. “So the Hokage
said…?”
“Hokage said what?” Naruto interjected. “What did I do?
Whatever it is, I didn’t do, I swear, you can’t prove otherwise!”
“So you didn’t do
the Naked Pretzel Twist with my sister?” Hinata asked mildly. “Because she
seems to think you did.”
Now it was Naruto’s turn to blush and lower his head. “I…”
“It’s all right,” Hinata assured him, putting a hand on his
shoulder, her voice soft. “I needed you to in order for my plan to work.” At
this, Hinata turned her gaze to Hanabi. “By the way, the Hokage gave the all
clear. All we need is Naruto’s consent.”
Hanabi stood up so fast her chair toppled over. But she paid
it no mind as she ran to her sister and embraced her. Naruto, however, just
kept looking between the two of them. “Alright!” he cried, throwing his hands
up. “I give up! What the hell is going on?!”
“Simple,” Hanabi said, a smile on her face. “You just got a
second wife!”
The room went deathly silent for a few minutes. It was
suddenly broken by the sound of Naruto as he hit the ground in a dead faint.
A few hours later found Naruto at training field number 7,
fighting against about 30 Kage Bunshins. Fighting always helped him relax, and
he always had an easier time thinking about big things while he was fighting.
Or eating, but the way he felt right now, he didn’t think eating would be a
good idea. As he dispatched another bunshin, his mind returned to the
conversation that had taken place after he had regained consciousness.
“It’s really simple,”
Hinata told him. “Hanabi will leave the Hyuga clan
and join our family as your second wife. This will allow you to start your own
clan, and keep Hanabi from being wed to that pig.”
“But I’m married to you!” Naruto had countered. “How in the
hell am I supposed to keep my vows of loyalty when I’m married to two people?
Especially when they’re sisters?!”
“It’ll be like the
Hyuga clan.” Hanabi spoke up. “There’ll be two houses, but instead of a main
house and branch house, the houses will be separated, so to speak, according to
wives. A Hinata branch and a Hanabi branch, if you will.”
“What exactly do you
mean, divided by wives?” Naruto questioned.
“For example, if you
had a child with Hanabi, that child would belong to the Hanabi house. But both
houses would belong to the Uzumaki clan. You understand?”
“What about like what
happened to your clan? The separation, the prejudice…?”
“The houses would only
get along as you wanted them to.”
They had told him he didn’t have to make a choice right
away, he had three days to decide. Naruto had been glad for that, since this
had completely blown his mind. He had thought that Hinata’s plan had been to
simply get the guy kicked out of the Leaf
Village, not get Hanabi
married to a man her sister was already married to. Seems like he had
underestimated his wife yet again.
All this thinking was starting to get to be too much. With a
hand sign, the rest of the Bunshins dispersed. It didn’t matter that the match
hadn’t been over; a Naruto would have won anyways. As
he left the training grounds, Naruto wished his friends were there for him to
talk to. But they were all on missions. Jiraiya’s death a few years back had
dealt the village a big blow, and after that, in one last stand off, Naruto had
been forced to kill Sasuke when the curse mark had gone out of control. And
even then, Sasuke had been the little emo queen he had been as kids, claiming
that he had made no mistakes in his choices. And so, the Leaf lost a lot of
strength, Naruto had lost his god-father, and then his best friend.
But that was ten years ago, and in the past. Now things were
better. Tsunade had announced 4 years ago that
Naruto would be the next Hokage, and a year later, he had married
Hinata. And now, three women wanted him to take another wife? His head hurt. A
lot.
But he had agreed that Hanabi should move in, at the very least.
She had gone to pack her stuff, and would be returning later that night. Naruto
had been worried, since she wanted to go alone, and her father would be
massively pissed. But Hanabi had convinced him,
saying that she was only getting a few small items and some clothes. Everything
else she could replace.
With a sigh, Naruto decided to head home. A few hand signs,
and a puff of smoke later, and he was gone.
Hanabi decided an hour into her chore, that she hated
packing. When she had gotten home, she had gone straight to her father and had
told him that she was moving out. He had spent the next half hour screaming.
When he had paused to catch his breath, Hanabi had calmly told him to “go fuck
himself”, and had gone to her room to pack her stuff. What she hadn’t thought
of, however, was how hard it was to take only the bare necessities.
It didn’t help that she was so excited, she could hardly
contain herself. She was leaving! She was going to be able to make her own
choices, live how she wanted to. And she would be with the man she loved, even
if she did have to share him. It had been risky, and people might frown on it,
but she didn’t care. Even if Naruto didn’t accept her as a wife, he was still
allowing her to live in his house. And if that was the most she ever got, that
would be fine with her. Still, she couldn’t help but hope.
Lost in thought, she didn’t hear the footsteps behind her…
Naruto sat on the couch, waiting
for Hanabi to show up. The clock had just struck 9,
the sun having set a couple of hours ago. And that had Naruto
worried. Hanabi had left at about 5, which had been
around the time Naruto had left for the training
ground. He wanted to go after her, make sure she was alright, but Hinata had kept him from going.
“She might have tried to talk to father,” his lady had said.
“Despite what he’s done, he’s still her father, and she probably wanted to get
him to understand. Besides, you and I both know that you just wanted to rub it
in his face.”
Which was true, to some extent, but it had mainly been
because of a nagging feeling in his mind. Besides, Hanabi
was going to be living with him and Hinata now, and
she was family. And Naruto was very protective when
it came to family.
But here he was, stuck in the house waiting. Hinata had gone shopping, deciding that they would have a
big meal that night in celebration, and she had told him she wanted someone to
be there when Hanabi got back. Naruto
hated staying cooped up in one place, but he hated waiting in lines even more. Especially when he got stuck behind an old person; that was the
worst.
But at least Neji and Sakura were
getting back from their missions tonight, with the others coming back in three
days. He and Neji had gotten really close, first
through their battles together, then when Naruto had
wed Hinata, and then they had formed an even tighter
friendship when Neji had taken Sakura as a wife!
It seemed like every person of the Konoha
11 had found love. Lee had gotten with Tenten, Choji with Ino, and Shikamaru with Temari. Kiba had started dating a girl in a village about an hour
away, and Shino was married to a nurse at the Konoha
hospital. It seemed like everything was finally becoming peaceful.
Naruto’s musings were interrupted
by a loud banging on the front door. He jumped up and ran to the door, thinking
Hanabi must have had her hands full and was kicking
the door. That was what it sounded like, and if Naruto
knew one thing, it was that girls did not like to stand around waiting for a
door to be opened when they had full hands. The frantic banging continued, and Naruto suddenly felt very uneasy. When he reached the door,
he threw it open, and was shocked at who he saw.
“It’s about damn time, dobe!”
screamed the pink-haired girl, standing on the door step. Sakura looked livid,
her hair sticking out everywhere, and there was a great deal of dirt and sweat
on her face. Had she just gotten back from her mission? What was she doing
here?
And that was when Naruto noticed
that Sakura was holding someone up. His eyes took in the dark hair, and the small
build. But what really got his attention was the
smells that he was getting. Blood, fear, pain- the sheer amount of the smells
caused Naruto’s eyes to water. Then the dark-haired
figure lifted up their head, and all the color drained out of Naruto’s face when he saw the bruisings
and the cuts, but mainly because of face that they adorned.
“Help… me…” Hanabi managed through
swollen lips, then she threw up on the doorstep and
passed out.
A/N
Hey everyone, how you been? This chapter actually took me
longer than I thought, mainly because of what had to be done with the
characters. What you see above this is actually the 8th version of this chapter! That’s right,
I wrote 7 variations before this one! The story will be done before the end of
the month, and then I have a new challenge to go for. Hope you look forward to
it.
And while I’m here, let me say this; I have NO regrets about
killing Sasuke off. He’s always benn
an emo queen, and always will be. Besides, this alowed me to screw around with the pairings a bit, since I
don’t like Lee/Sakura parings, and I’m sick of seeing Neji/Tenten.
Don’t get me wrong, the latter’s a good paring, and I like Lee, but hell. I
mean, why not, right?
Let me know how you like this! Praises or flames, I don’t
care. It just means people are reading this.
By the way, my thanks to Anon to pointing out something in chapter one. When I started this story, Jiraiya had been alive in the manga. When I did this one, he was pushing daisies. I'm sorry about that, and have changed the first chapter at that part to better fit the story. Million dollar "Whoopsy"!
