I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Meet friends and rivals
A/n: This sure is a long chapter ^_^’. When the story was first posted I had the impression that the plot was going rather slow so I’ve decided to combine the second chapter with the third. That way you guys don’t have to wait so long until you get some action between Sasu’chan and Naru’chan. The fact that I had to write a whole paragraph with Sai made the chapter even longer, but I don’t mind it, actually I found that writing about Sai is very pleasant and I hope he didn’t turn out OOC :P anyway please bear with some of the typos and mistakes. Since I didn’t have the courage to ask the great reviewers that offered to be my Betas some time ago now I have to look for new ones. I promise I will fix the problem as soon as I can till then please enjoy ^0^
~~~*Meet friends and rivals*~~~
The summer sun spread his rays through a window in one of the many rooms in the Maestro’s rich house. The particles of light were resting on a very beautiful desk, manufactured out of sweet cherry with Greece designs. On the desk, stood many different books starting from history and ending with national literature. However, ‘The contemporary art’, a very thick book was the only one open at the moment as a pale hand was turning the pages with care. The hand belonged to a boy about seventeen who was sitting in a chair with Venetian designs. He seemed to be very focused on what he was reading, his grey eyes absorbing every word. Then all of a sudden, he stopped and turned his attention to his friend standing near the large window. As he lifted his head, a few threads of chestnut hair fell on his handsome face. His companion a blond boy with cerulean eyes and tanned skin was gazing out the window having a very melancholic look. The older boy decided to wake him up from this state.
“Naruto could you please stop daydreaming? If Kakashi-sensei comes and finds you slaking of “he posed for a second “ again, I will be the one who gets scold”.
The blond boy turned his face towards the desk and adopted a very quizzical look.
“You said something Neji?”
“Stupid! Come back from wander land and start reading or I’m going to inflict some pain in that numb head of yours”.
Naruto pouted as he carried his body from the window to the chair on the other side of the desk.
“I don’t understand what reading has to do with painting.” He said as he looked through the big pile of books for something interesting.
Before Neji could give him a smart-ass answer, the door was opened to let in a rather mad Maestro.
“Painting is also a science Naruto.”
He made his way across the room and settled down in his favorite lounging chair.
” And painting some times can even be a pain in the ass”.
Naruto started to chuckle only imagining the hell that the old hag put his sensei in.
“Was the meting with the queen that bad?” asked Neji.
“Aaaa…the queen, now she’s a real pain in the ass”.
“What theme did she chose Kakashi-sensei?” this time was Naruto`s voice who questioned the man. The Maestro tried to make an imitation of Tsunade’s voice.
“I want a painting in which you will capture ‘The passionate darkness and the pure light’ got that?” he returned to his normal voice as he continued. “Well I was thinking that I should draw an angel and a demon but I just can’t imagine them. It’s hard to think of something so pure and so passionate”
“Why don’t you look for models?”
“That’s a good idea Neji, a boy and a girl, darkness and light, demon and angel, and so on.”
“But where are you going to find these people Kakashi-sensei? The birthday of that old hag is in a month and the painting itself will require a lot of work.”
“Well here is where you and Neji come in. I want you to look for a boy and a girl who match the descriptions I have told you. Naruto, you will look for the girl and Neji for the boy.”
“Alright!”
Naruto flee from his chair.
”Don’t worry sensei, I’ll bring you the most beautiful model.”
He left the room with a goofy grin on his face. Neji on the other hand didn’t seem so enthusiastic.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course I am, and to help you on your job I’ll even give some advice. Check the Uchiha family.”
“The Uchiha? That’s a rich house Kakashi, I don’t think that they will agree.”
“Because of that, I don’t have to worry about the answer. After all, which count wouldn’t want his sons to be the models for the great Maestro? ”
Neji raised an eyebrow in a very elegant way and sighed. ‘This man thinks to high of himself.’ However, he made no comments as he gracefully stood up and went out of the room. Kakashi stepped toward the pile of books to look for one of his favorites. When he finally found it he made himself comfortable on the lounging chair and started reading ’I don’t understand why Naruto and Neji keep avoiding this novel. What’s wrong with romance?’
Naruto ran through the streets of Konoha stopping now and then to look at some girls. ’I don’t have time to check through every street. I have to think of a place where girls hang out’. His chase finally ended when he reached the bookstore. Entering he found a girl about his age scouting through the shelves. She turned around and when she saw him, she shivered as a blush crept on her porcelain face.
“Hhh-ee-lo Naruto-kun.”
“Hy Hinata! Looking for something? ”
The girl started shifting uncomfortable. Her short dark purple hair was very uncommon in Konoha but it made a nice match with her grey eyes. She was wearing a purple robe and a brown scarf in which she started to rub her hands, sign that she was nervous. She was Neji’s cousin and her father was the head of the great Hyuuga family. You think that with her statute she should have been more confident but that was not the case. Being treated as the black sheep of the clan she had lost all self esteem.
“Just ss-oo-mm-ee-thing to keep me occupied. ”
Naruto started to look at the girl with a thoughtful eyes. She wasn’t the greatest beauty but she had that kind of honest face that was so rare in those days.
“Hey Hinata I need some help.”
“W-hhh-aa-t do you need help for Naruto-kun?” She started to feel even more uncomfortable. She had a crush on the boy for some time since he was the only one who treated her nicely.
“Well Kakashi-sensei needs help actually. He has to find two models for his new painting and I was given the task to look for a pretty girl. So what do you think? Want to try out?”
But Hinata thought of only one thing ‘Naruto-kun thinks I’m pretty?’
“Oo-ff course I’ll do my best.” She started to blush even harder.
“Aaa…ok, then I’ll see you tomorrow at Kakashi’s house. You know where it is don’t you? ” Hinata just nodded.
“Good then! By!”
He left the shop thinking where he should try next. ’Hinata is such a strange girl’, he stopped again as he reached the flower shop. There he found two girls that he knew.
“Sakura-chan! Ino-san! I have big news for you!”
A girl with pink hair and green eyes turned to look at the enthusiastic boy. Her friend Ino who had blond hair and blue eyes follow her lead. They both gave Naruto disgusted glares as he approached them.
“What do you want Naruto? We’re busy.” Sakura’s words were cold matching with her expression. But it didn’t seem to bother the blond boy after all, he was used to this treatment. All his life he was forced to receive harsh looks from most of the town’s citizens.
“Do you or Ino want to be in Kakashi’s new painting?”
Sakura opened her mouth to say that she had no intention to tolerate him even though it would be a great honor to be the Maestro’s model. However, Ino spoke first.
“Are you going to assist the Maestro?”
“Of course I’m going to assist, he’s my teacher.”
He flashed a big grin. It was indeed a great honor to be his apprentice but this fact made the people in Konoha to treat him even harsher. Why would the famous painter take an orphan that everybody seemed to hate as his successor?
“Then we’re not coming!”
Sakura started to glare at the boy with heated passion. ‘Why oh why does he have to have a crush on me? Doesn't he understand that my only love is Sasuke-kun?’
“But, but why?”
“Because we don’t like you Naruto, you’re annoying. Let’s go to the park Ino, maybe Sasuke-kun is there.”
Naruto wanted to say that the asshole never went to pass quality time with the little birds and fluffy animals but the girls passed him and started walking quickly being afraid that the he might follow.
’Things didn’t turn out exactly how I’ve planed. This is going to be one hell of a month.’ Trying to put aside the rejection the two girls have given him he began walking slowly towards the only place that would make him happy now. The ramen shop.
“No.”
The answer was short and clear but the chestnut hair teen wasn’t going to give up that easily.
“An why not? You must have noticed at least one pretty girl in this whole town.”
“Kiba I don’t care what you say, I’m not going around the city to pick up girls.”
“But why? Being in Konoha’s Special Forces doesn’t mean you have to be single for the rest of your life!”
Sai was currently walking through the town followed by one of his closes friends, Kiba. As they passed a group of girls, they heard some very disturbing giggles and whisperers. Sai rolled his eyes but didn’t bother to even glance their way, he was already used to this kind of treatment.
He wore a black tunic with silver threads along the shoulders and with a white dragon on the left part of his chest representing the unit he belong to. His pants were also black and simple and he wore a pair of very clean and shiny boots. At the waist, he had a belt with silver designs and with a long sword covered by a very beautiful and expensive sheath. On the hilt of the sword was encrusted the same white dragon with sparkling ruby eyes. Through and through he looked like every maiden’s dream prince, who would ride his white hours into the sunset.
Kiba on the other hand look somewhat dirty with his ruffled hair and dirty boots. Although he wore the same uniform as his friend, he didn’t have Sai’ proud walk or his noble features. His cloths were brown with cream-colored straps and with a white emblem representing a falcon. The fact that his dog Akamaru followed him everywhere didn’t improve his reputation either.
While Sai unit was focusing and the external problems of Konoha, like spying and even assassinations when they were necessary, Kiba’s unit was responsible for keeping the peace in town.
“So where are we going if you don’t want to check out some girls?”
Before Sai could answer, a yell of pure joy was heard behind them. When they turned around, they were greeted by the figure of tall boy with thick eyebrows that was running in their direction waving like mad.
“My dearest friends! I’m so happy to see you safe and illuminating youthful energy!”
“Hey Lee! I’m surprised to see you in town at this hour.”
The boy was wearing a green uniform with orange designs and with a turtle emblem. His boots, just like Sai’s, were spotless. He was part of the queen’s personal guard and his teacher was Gai, the ultimate rival of the great Maestro.
“Gai-sensei had a meeting with her Majesty so he gave me an hour break. What about you Kiba?”
“Same here. Yamato was also called in the council, actually Asuma was too.”
Sai had a thoughtful expression on his face as he looked from one boy to another.
“It’s kind of strange that all of a sudden there are this many meetings. They’ve started to be very frequent. What about Shino?”
“He’s on a mission with Genma in Sound country. I don’t feel at ease knowing him there.”
“Ah my friends let us not talk about such things! After all, when the time comes our teachers and mentors will surely tell us what this is all about. I suggest we take advantage of this situation and go somewhere to eat.”
“Great idea Lee! Let’s check the new place they opened near the fountain. Chouji works there and he told me it was fantastic.”
Sai didn’t have time to object as his two friends started dragging him towards the hut.
Neji walked with small steps towards the Uchiha estate. He passed the iron black gates and the well kept garden and stopped when he reached the front door of the mansion. It was made out of oak tree and in the middle was painted a white and red fan, which was the emblem of the family.
‘Why did I accept this? Is a common knowledge that the Uchiha and the Hyuuga clans are rivals. Kakashi sure knows how to push my buttons.’ He sighed, as he knocked gentle. Maybe they wouldn’t hear him and he would escape the humiliation of asking their help. However, Neji wasn’t very lucky today. After only a few seconds, the door was opened to reveal an old servant wearing a spotless uniform with the white and red fan on it.
“May I help you young master?” the servant didn’t need Neji to present himself since the grey eyes were trademarks of the Hyuugas.
“Who’s at the door?”
As he was let inside the mansion, Neji spotted the man who asked the question. He was around forty years and had a very severe face. His clothes, a black robe with a silver coat above it, looked very expensive and had the Uchiha emblem.
“Oh! Hyuuga Neji. This is indeed a surprise. Whatever brings you to my modest home? ”
The man looked at him with air of superiority, but that didn’t intimidate the boy at all. He kept his head high as his grey eyes started to sparkle.
“I’m here on the request of Hatake Kakashi.” He spoke clear making sure to emphasis his teacher’s name.
“I’m surprised! He usually comes in person if he has something to tell me. But never the less I respect him very much so whatever he asked of me I’ll try and help.”
“I think he will be very grateful to you Sir.” He bowed a little not wanting to upset the head of the Uchiha family.
“So what’s this all about? And forgive me for being a horrible host by keeping you at the door. Please follow me to the terrace and you will explain everything while we drink some tea.” Neji really didn’t want to spend too much time in the Uchiha estate but now it seemed he didn’t have a choice.
Tiny little sparks were created when two swords meet each other in the air. At the end of each hilt two boys were breathing with difficulty. The sweat ran down their bare chests as their shirts where lying, forgotten, on the ground. I couldn’t answer if you were to ask me what was the reason they were fighting for. Maybe it was for honor or maybe for a fair Lady, but no matter the case both of them seemed convinced to bring the other one down. They retreated a little and prepared for another attack.
“I’m sorry to interrupt young masters but there’s someone here to see Sasuke-sama.”
“I’m not in the mood to see anybody just send them away.”
He didn’t bother to look at the servant, his eyes being fixed at his opponent. A smirk appeared on the other boys face. With his free hand he shoved some rebel threads of his red hair as his green eyes had a devilish glint.
“Fan girls again Sasuke?”
“Shut up Gaara! Or do you really want me to break your bones? ”
Gaara was one of the few friends that Sasuke had, ok he was the only friend that he had. But he wouldn’t let the boy make fun of him.
“Like you could! You asked me to train with you but all you did so far was dancing. Or do you intend on joining the ballet? I’m sure your fan girls will love that!”
“Oh if only your skills were as good as your mouth! What do you intend to do when you meet a real opponent? Bore him to death?”
Seeing that the boys didn’t give him any attention the man decided to try again.
“But Sasuke-sama your father insisted on you receiving him.” He was no fool. He knew what impact his words will have on his young master. Sasuke turned his attention to the servant.
“Very well bring him here.”
The man bowed with respect and went to fetch the Hyuuga. He was surprised to see that the boy was walking already towards them.
“Sasuke-sama is ready to talk to you now, young master.”
“Hmm. Like I’d care if he wanted to talk to me or not.”
He had explained to the head of the family that he was searching for a model. The man seemed delighted about this. Of course his older son didn’t have time but his younger one would be perfect. He called the old servant who opened the door and told him to take Neji to see Sasuke and to explain him the situation. As he walked towards the training ground, he started cursing his sensei for making him go through all this nonsense.
“Sasuke-san I’m here on the request of Hatake Kakashi he…” But Neji didn’t had time to finish his sentence.
“Whatever it is I don’t want to hear it from you Hyuuga.”
He didn’t bother to look at the other boy ignoring him exactly as he did with the servant. He focused his attention on Gaara and launched another attack. He was surprised to se that his friend didn’t go in defense. He was just standing there and when he finally realized that Sasuke attacked him it was too late. He fell on the hard ground and hit his head on a stone. Without even realizing what he was doing Neji jumped on the side of the boy.
“Are you alright?”
He didn’t know why he was worried for him since they didn’t even know each other. Well they have meet on one or two parties but they just were introduced and nothing more. Gaara’s father pasted away a year ago and the boy hade locked himself from the world, not that he was very popular from the beginning but now it seemed worst.
“Do you usually treat friends this way Uchiha?”
“We were training Hyuuga but I don’t think you know the meaning of that. You probably can’t even make the difference between a blade and a hilt.”
“Do you want to try me?”
“Cool it you two. And if anyone is going to hit Sasuke for this is going to be me. Attacking when I wasn’t paying attention was a low blow.”
“It wasn’t my fault that you were of in lala land. You never have to let your guard down in a duel. Why are you here anyway Hyuuga?”
“Oh! So now you’re ready to hear me out? Well I’m not a servant to speak only when his master wants him to. I’m done talking. You have to ask your father Uchiha. Goodbye! ”
“Wait I’ll see you to the door.”
Neji looked a little suspicious at Gaara. Thinking of what he said and observing the strange looks both boys were giving him the redheaded boy tried desperate to make an excuse.
“Well it is a big house and you could get lost and we were taking a break anyway.”
Neji just nodded in response as he made his way towards the house with Gaara behind him. Sasuke just looked perplex at his friend.’ What the hell? Since when is Gaara nice to people? Did he hit his head that hard? ’ but his thoughts were interrupted by the approaching of his brother.
“Has your sparing partner left, Sasuke?”
Itachi`s voice was cold as always. He sat in one of the chairs the servants put in case the boys were tired and wanted to rest. He poured some lemonade in one of the crystal glasses on the table nearby.
“His name is Gaara, Itachi. Can’t you even remember that?” he made his way to the table and took a glass that was half-empty. He drank it all without even stopping to breathe and let out a satisfied noise.
“I don’t bother remembering names of persons that are a disgrace to their families and town.” Itach stopped to look at Sasuke`s expression and was very satisfied with the reaction. His little brother was throwing daggers at him. “But then again” he continued with a smirk on his face “one tends to spend time with persons that are similar to him. Birds of a feather flock together right?”
A loud crack was heard as the glass in Sasuke’s hand shattered in pieces.
“Mom’s going to be really angry little brother. That was one of the collections brought from Venice.”
But Sasuke had already left towards the mansion. He feared that if he would stay longer the next thing to break would his brother’s neck. He met Gaara in the house and the boy gave him a questionable look.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m just peachy.”
He passed him and made his way towards his room. Garra sighed and followed his friend. He didn’t want to have a fight with Sasuke. For some weird reason his day had gotten a little brighter since the arrival of Neji.
“Sasuke there you are. Well aren’t you proud to be the Maestro’s model?”
Both boys stopped as they heard the voice of Sasuke’s father.
“The Maestro’s model? You mean Kakashi?”
“Yes I mean Kakashi. Is there another Maestro in this town?” his father had an annoyed expression on his face.
“Didn’t the Hyuuga boy tell you? But then again you probably sent him away. You’re not diplomatic at all. We might not like them but that doesn’t mean we lower our self’s into sparing. You could try to be a little more like Itachi.” Sasuke snarled as he heard his brother’s name. Leave it to his father to praise Itachi until no end.
“Model for what?”
“For his new painting of course. But you will find out tomorrow on your first session.”
With that, he left the two boys. Sasuke growled as he started to climb the stairs. He pushed the door of his room and dropped on the bed. His face had a blank expression as his eyes where fixed on the ceiling. Gaara entered the room and went to sit on the chair near the window while turning a few pages of his friend’s sketchbook taken from his desk.
“Why does my father hate me?” he didn’t look at Gaara as he spoke.
“At least you have a father.”
“What’s the use of having one if he doesn’t acknowledge you? In this family and in this stupid town I will always be Itachi’s brother and nothing more.”
“And since when do you care what people have to say? You don’t see me worrying of what my siblings think. Or did Itachi’s words finally have an effect on you?”
“I don’t care about him.”
“Really? Then why did you stop drawing?” Sasuke turned so that his face was now buried in the pillow.
“Because I don’t have any talent.”
“You have talent you imbecile you just have to stop believing everything Itachi says.” Sasuke sighed and started to mumble. Gaara rolled his eyes as he got up and headed to the door.
“I’m going home. I really don’t want to be here when you start having a personality crisis.” He heard a small chuckle as he left the room.
The sky was a deep blue. Little clouds spread here and there giving the impression that they were made out of cotton. A boy with brown hair and dark eyes, lying in the grass was observing this wonderful feast of nature.’ Nothing is more beautiful then watching the sky.’ However, his thoughts where interrupted by a yell.
“Shikamaru you lazy good for nothing boy. Stop slaking of and come help me with the books. We just received a lot of packages from the Earth Country and they need to be sorted.”
The boy turned towards the man that just screamed with a very bored expression.
“It should be illegal to be this loud Iruka-sensei.”
The man’s eye twitched as a vein appeared on his forehead. He looked very similar to Shikamaru. His brown hair was tied in a spiky ponytail and he had black eyes that were most of the time filled with kindness. He had a scar above his nose but he was still a handsome person. He sighed in defeat as he looked at Shikamaru. The boy was e genius but he had a lot to loose because of his laziness. Iruka had just received his title as the imperial librarian when they had their first encounter. The queen told him that Shikamaru was smart but he lacked motivation. Three years had pasted since the brunet was placed in his care but whatever he tried, it seemed to be useless against the sleeping nature of the genius.
“Iruka-sensei it’s lunch time. How about we take a break and go somewhere to eat? ”
“It would be impossible for you to take a break since you haven’t been working at all.” The man smirked. Yes, the boy was very clever but so was his teacher.
“Come on Iruka-sensei. I don’t want to start an argument with you. It will be too troublesome. ”
“Everything is troublesome for you. However, I would be a fool to say that I’m not hungry so let’s go to the ramen shop.”
As they slowly walked towards their destination, Shikamaru decided to ask his teacher something that was bothering him.
“Sensei why is Jiraya-san coming to Konoha?”
Iruka looked surprised at the boy.
“Where did you hear that from?”
“Asuma told me when we were playing chess.”
The man made a mental note to scold the captain of the soldiers later. He was a good person but didn’t know how to keep his mouth shut when he was playing with Shikamaru.
“Did you win?”
“Yes.”
“Good!” At least he will have something to rub on Asuma’s face.
“Jiraya-sama will be coming to Konoha on her majesty request.”
“But why?”
“Who knows? Maybe they just wanted to see each other. Almost 11 years have past since their last encounter.”
13 years ago Konoha was not such a peaceful place. The Sound Country started war with the Fire Country and attacked their town which was the capital. At that time the ruler was Sarutobi-sama an old but great man. The Sound was lead by Orochimaru a snake-like person that used to be one of Sarutobi students. For the protection of his country, the king gave his life. The war finally ended when Tsunade and Jiraya, both ex students of Sarutobi, had come to Konoha’s help. They destroyed the Sound army and Orochimaru had no choice but to retreat. Tsunade took the throne but Jiraya left mysteriously saying he’ll come back when Konoha will need him.
’So many lives were lost in that war’ Iruka started do drift away in his own little world remembering all his friends that were no longer alive.
“Sensei we’re here.” Shikamaru decided to wake the man from his trance state as they reached the shop. They opened the door and noticed a blond boy who was now grinning like mad.
“Iruka-sensei! Shikamaru! It’s so good to see you.”
Sitting at one of the tables, Naruto waved at his former teacher and his friend. Shikamaru rolled his eyes at the reaction of the boy. ‘Why do people have to be so loud today? ’. He and Iruka joined Naruto and order two bowls of ramen. Apparently, the blond boy was at the third bowl.
“I’m really glad to see you Naruto. What have you been up to? Almost three days have past since you were here the last time. ”
“Did you miss me Iruka-sensei?”
Naruto started batting his eyelashes. His former teacher raised his head to look at him and smirked.
“Well I did but I couldn’t say the same thing about my wallet.”
The blond boy pouted as Shikamaru started to snicker. It was common knowledge that if Iruka and Naruto met at the ramen shop the former teacher would most likely end up treating the boy. Now the man could only pray that Naruto would be satisfied with the three bowls after all he had to pay for himself and Shikamaru and his salary was average.
“Kakashi-sensei made me and Neji study literature, history, contemporary art and so on. It was hell this past days.”
“Now Naruto, there’s nothing bad about learning.”
“Yes it is.”
Iruka was not surprised that both Naruto and Shikamaru answered at the same time. The man just shocked his head. This would be an argument that he will never win.
“So how’s Kakashi-sensei by the way?”
Naruto smiled at his former teacher. Iruka always was interested in the Maestro.
“He’s suicidal.”
“What? Why?”
“The queen gave him an ass of a theme. Something about light and darkness. It’s his fault in the end. He wants to give it to the old hag as a birthday present so she will be forced to put it in the throne room as to not offend the Maestro.”
“Why would he want that?”
This time was Shikamaru who spoke. Everything that involved the Kakashi was big news in Konoha. Maybe he could trade what Naruto told him for more information from Asuma.
“Well you know Tsunade doesn’t want him to open his gallery, so he probably wants to force her hand. But now the problem is the models.”
“Models?” Iruka had a quizzical look on his face.
“Yes he needs two models. A girl and a boy. I had to look for a girl who could have angelic features and Neji for a boy with demonic ones, but things didn’t turn out that great. The only person who accepted was Hinata.”
“You asked Hyuuga Hinata to be the model?” Shikamaru gave his friend a disturbed look.” Neji is going to kill you Naruto.”
“No he’s not! You’re exaggerating Shika. Anyway I have to go, Kakashi would probably want to know how things went. Thanks for the meal Iruka-sensei! Bye!”
Naruto rose from the chair and left the shop.
“Neji is going to kill him.”
Shikamaru said as he swallowed his noodles. However, Iruka seemed to be of in his little world again.
’Poor Kakashi. I really hope he doesn’t over work himself.’
“YOU WHAT?”
Neji really wasn’t having a good day. First, he was utterly humiliated by the head of the Uchiha family, then that bastard Sasuke had treated him like a servant. Things were finally brightening up when Gaara offered to see him to the door. He didn’t know why the presence of the redhead made him feel a little wormer inside. Maybe because the boy kept looking at him when he thought Neji wasn’t paying attention. He found that to be very childish but amusing in the same time. He actually felt a little sorry that he hadn’t talked too much with him, but when he reached his teacher’s house and was greeted by Naruto telling him that his cousin Hinata was the model for the painting, clouds started to appear on Neji’s blue sky. Clouds that were predicting a hell of a storm.
“And you agreed with this?”
His grey eyes were now burning holes in his teacher’s chest. Naruto was hiding behind Kakashi as for the man, well he was just glad that there weren’t any sharp objects that Neji could use against them.
“Please calm down Neji-kun. There’s no need for violence.” Neji took a deep breath and lowered his voice.
“I wasn’t planning on hurting you.”
Naruto finally started breathing. From the moment Neji turned psycho on them he had forgotten that humans need air.
“I don’t understand why you went crazy. It’s not like she’s going to pose nude. ”
The next second Kakashi had to put all his force to retain Neji from strangling the idiot blond boy.
“Calm down Neji-kun. Of course Hinata wasn’t going to pose nude.”
Neji tried to keep his temper and to restrain from breaking anything.
“You should loosen up. Having this crisis is bad for yo…Umf!”
A hand slapped Naruto’s mouth. Kakashi wasn’t going to let his idiot assistant say some more stupidities that might enrage Neji.
“How did things go at the Uchiha estate?”
Naruto looked curious at the older boy. ‘What the hell was he doing at the Uchiha’s? He hates them.’
Neji smirked. It was payback time.
“His father was very happy about your proposition. Sasuke will be here tomorrow at nine am.”
“Why is that bastard coming here?” Naruto started to glare at his teacher.
“His going to be the male model.”
“WHAT?”
“Naruto please don’t shout. I really have no intention to fix the windows.”
“Why did you do this to me? I hate him! He’s the greatest bastard in this city, scratch that in the world! ”
Neji started to snicker. Revenge was so sweet and he would like nothing more than to see what Naruto would do to Kakashi but his uncle had sent for him so he couldn’t delay any more.
“Well I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow morning. Well that’s if you’re not dead till then sensei.”
With that said, he left the room leaving behind an angry blond boy and a rather annoyed teacher.
“Please don’t let your personal feelings mix with your work Naruto.”
The boy mumbled incoherent words as he made his way towards the door. He stopped as he remembered something.
“By the way, Iruka-sensei asked about you.”
“He did? What did he say?”
The man looked utterly delighted.
“Nothing much just wanted to know what you were doing.”
“And what did you tell him?”
“That you have problems sleeping, that you talk to yourself and that you’re flirting with every girl in town.”
“WHAT?”
Naruto made an innocent face.
“Ow, I didn’t know that you valued so much Iruka’s opinion. And, Kakashi-sensei please don’t shout. I doubt you want to fix the windows.”
Then he left the room.
~~~*Meet friends and rivals*~~~
The summer sun spread his rays through a window in one of the many rooms in the Maestro’s rich house. The particles of light were resting on a very beautiful desk, manufactured out of sweet cherry with Greece designs. On the desk, stood many different books starting from history and ending with national literature. However, ‘The contemporary art’, a very thick book was the only one open at the moment as a pale hand was turning the pages with care. The hand belonged to a boy about seventeen who was sitting in a chair with Venetian designs. He seemed to be very focused on what he was reading, his grey eyes absorbing every word. Then all of a sudden, he stopped and turned his attention to his friend standing near the large window. As he lifted his head, a few threads of chestnut hair fell on his handsome face. His companion a blond boy with cerulean eyes and tanned skin was gazing out the window having a very melancholic look. The older boy decided to wake him up from this state.
“Naruto could you please stop daydreaming? If Kakashi-sensei comes and finds you slaking of “he posed for a second “ again, I will be the one who gets scold”.
The blond boy turned his face towards the desk and adopted a very quizzical look.
“You said something Neji?”
“Stupid! Come back from wander land and start reading or I’m going to inflict some pain in that numb head of yours”.
Naruto pouted as he carried his body from the window to the chair on the other side of the desk.
“I don’t understand what reading has to do with painting.” He said as he looked through the big pile of books for something interesting.
Before Neji could give him a smart-ass answer, the door was opened to let in a rather mad Maestro.
“Painting is also a science Naruto.”
He made his way across the room and settled down in his favorite lounging chair.
” And painting some times can even be a pain in the ass”.
Naruto started to chuckle only imagining the hell that the old hag put his sensei in.
“Was the meting with the queen that bad?” asked Neji.
“Aaaa…the queen, now she’s a real pain in the ass”.
“What theme did she chose Kakashi-sensei?” this time was Naruto`s voice who questioned the man. The Maestro tried to make an imitation of Tsunade’s voice.
“I want a painting in which you will capture ‘The passionate darkness and the pure light’ got that?” he returned to his normal voice as he continued. “Well I was thinking that I should draw an angel and a demon but I just can’t imagine them. It’s hard to think of something so pure and so passionate”
“Why don’t you look for models?”
“That’s a good idea Neji, a boy and a girl, darkness and light, demon and angel, and so on.”
“But where are you going to find these people Kakashi-sensei? The birthday of that old hag is in a month and the painting itself will require a lot of work.”
“Well here is where you and Neji come in. I want you to look for a boy and a girl who match the descriptions I have told you. Naruto, you will look for the girl and Neji for the boy.”
“Alright!”
Naruto flee from his chair.
”Don’t worry sensei, I’ll bring you the most beautiful model.”
He left the room with a goofy grin on his face. Neji on the other hand didn’t seem so enthusiastic.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course I am, and to help you on your job I’ll even give some advice. Check the Uchiha family.”
“The Uchiha? That’s a rich house Kakashi, I don’t think that they will agree.”
“Because of that, I don’t have to worry about the answer. After all, which count wouldn’t want his sons to be the models for the great Maestro? ”
Neji raised an eyebrow in a very elegant way and sighed. ‘This man thinks to high of himself.’ However, he made no comments as he gracefully stood up and went out of the room. Kakashi stepped toward the pile of books to look for one of his favorites. When he finally found it he made himself comfortable on the lounging chair and started reading ’I don’t understand why Naruto and Neji keep avoiding this novel. What’s wrong with romance?’
Naruto ran through the streets of Konoha stopping now and then to look at some girls. ’I don’t have time to check through every street. I have to think of a place where girls hang out’. His chase finally ended when he reached the bookstore. Entering he found a girl about his age scouting through the shelves. She turned around and when she saw him, she shivered as a blush crept on her porcelain face.
“Hhh-ee-lo Naruto-kun.”
“Hy Hinata! Looking for something? ”
The girl started shifting uncomfortable. Her short dark purple hair was very uncommon in Konoha but it made a nice match with her grey eyes. She was wearing a purple robe and a brown scarf in which she started to rub her hands, sign that she was nervous. She was Neji’s cousin and her father was the head of the great Hyuuga family. You think that with her statute she should have been more confident but that was not the case. Being treated as the black sheep of the clan she had lost all self esteem.
“Just ss-oo-mm-ee-thing to keep me occupied. ”
Naruto started to look at the girl with a thoughtful eyes. She wasn’t the greatest beauty but she had that kind of honest face that was so rare in those days.
“Hey Hinata I need some help.”
“W-hhh-aa-t do you need help for Naruto-kun?” She started to feel even more uncomfortable. She had a crush on the boy for some time since he was the only one who treated her nicely.
“Well Kakashi-sensei needs help actually. He has to find two models for his new painting and I was given the task to look for a pretty girl. So what do you think? Want to try out?”
But Hinata thought of only one thing ‘Naruto-kun thinks I’m pretty?’
“Oo-ff course I’ll do my best.” She started to blush even harder.
“Aaa…ok, then I’ll see you tomorrow at Kakashi’s house. You know where it is don’t you? ” Hinata just nodded.
“Good then! By!”
He left the shop thinking where he should try next. ’Hinata is such a strange girl’, he stopped again as he reached the flower shop. There he found two girls that he knew.
“Sakura-chan! Ino-san! I have big news for you!”
A girl with pink hair and green eyes turned to look at the enthusiastic boy. Her friend Ino who had blond hair and blue eyes follow her lead. They both gave Naruto disgusted glares as he approached them.
“What do you want Naruto? We’re busy.” Sakura’s words were cold matching with her expression. But it didn’t seem to bother the blond boy after all, he was used to this treatment. All his life he was forced to receive harsh looks from most of the town’s citizens.
“Do you or Ino want to be in Kakashi’s new painting?”
Sakura opened her mouth to say that she had no intention to tolerate him even though it would be a great honor to be the Maestro’s model. However, Ino spoke first.
“Are you going to assist the Maestro?”
“Of course I’m going to assist, he’s my teacher.”
He flashed a big grin. It was indeed a great honor to be his apprentice but this fact made the people in Konoha to treat him even harsher. Why would the famous painter take an orphan that everybody seemed to hate as his successor?
“Then we’re not coming!”
Sakura started to glare at the boy with heated passion. ‘Why oh why does he have to have a crush on me? Doesn't he understand that my only love is Sasuke-kun?’
“But, but why?”
“Because we don’t like you Naruto, you’re annoying. Let’s go to the park Ino, maybe Sasuke-kun is there.”
Naruto wanted to say that the asshole never went to pass quality time with the little birds and fluffy animals but the girls passed him and started walking quickly being afraid that the he might follow.
’Things didn’t turn out exactly how I’ve planed. This is going to be one hell of a month.’ Trying to put aside the rejection the two girls have given him he began walking slowly towards the only place that would make him happy now. The ramen shop.
“No.”
The answer was short and clear but the chestnut hair teen wasn’t going to give up that easily.
“An why not? You must have noticed at least one pretty girl in this whole town.”
“Kiba I don’t care what you say, I’m not going around the city to pick up girls.”
“But why? Being in Konoha’s Special Forces doesn’t mean you have to be single for the rest of your life!”
Sai was currently walking through the town followed by one of his closes friends, Kiba. As they passed a group of girls, they heard some very disturbing giggles and whisperers. Sai rolled his eyes but didn’t bother to even glance their way, he was already used to this kind of treatment.
He wore a black tunic with silver threads along the shoulders and with a white dragon on the left part of his chest representing the unit he belong to. His pants were also black and simple and he wore a pair of very clean and shiny boots. At the waist, he had a belt with silver designs and with a long sword covered by a very beautiful and expensive sheath. On the hilt of the sword was encrusted the same white dragon with sparkling ruby eyes. Through and through he looked like every maiden’s dream prince, who would ride his white hours into the sunset.
Kiba on the other hand look somewhat dirty with his ruffled hair and dirty boots. Although he wore the same uniform as his friend, he didn’t have Sai’ proud walk or his noble features. His cloths were brown with cream-colored straps and with a white emblem representing a falcon. The fact that his dog Akamaru followed him everywhere didn’t improve his reputation either.
While Sai unit was focusing and the external problems of Konoha, like spying and even assassinations when they were necessary, Kiba’s unit was responsible for keeping the peace in town.
“So where are we going if you don’t want to check out some girls?”
Before Sai could answer, a yell of pure joy was heard behind them. When they turned around, they were greeted by the figure of tall boy with thick eyebrows that was running in their direction waving like mad.
“My dearest friends! I’m so happy to see you safe and illuminating youthful energy!”
“Hey Lee! I’m surprised to see you in town at this hour.”
The boy was wearing a green uniform with orange designs and with a turtle emblem. His boots, just like Sai’s, were spotless. He was part of the queen’s personal guard and his teacher was Gai, the ultimate rival of the great Maestro.
“Gai-sensei had a meeting with her Majesty so he gave me an hour break. What about you Kiba?”
“Same here. Yamato was also called in the council, actually Asuma was too.”
Sai had a thoughtful expression on his face as he looked from one boy to another.
“It’s kind of strange that all of a sudden there are this many meetings. They’ve started to be very frequent. What about Shino?”
“He’s on a mission with Genma in Sound country. I don’t feel at ease knowing him there.”
“Ah my friends let us not talk about such things! After all, when the time comes our teachers and mentors will surely tell us what this is all about. I suggest we take advantage of this situation and go somewhere to eat.”
“Great idea Lee! Let’s check the new place they opened near the fountain. Chouji works there and he told me it was fantastic.”
Sai didn’t have time to object as his two friends started dragging him towards the hut.
Neji walked with small steps towards the Uchiha estate. He passed the iron black gates and the well kept garden and stopped when he reached the front door of the mansion. It was made out of oak tree and in the middle was painted a white and red fan, which was the emblem of the family.
‘Why did I accept this? Is a common knowledge that the Uchiha and the Hyuuga clans are rivals. Kakashi sure knows how to push my buttons.’ He sighed, as he knocked gentle. Maybe they wouldn’t hear him and he would escape the humiliation of asking their help. However, Neji wasn’t very lucky today. After only a few seconds, the door was opened to reveal an old servant wearing a spotless uniform with the white and red fan on it.
“May I help you young master?” the servant didn’t need Neji to present himself since the grey eyes were trademarks of the Hyuugas.
“Who’s at the door?”
As he was let inside the mansion, Neji spotted the man who asked the question. He was around forty years and had a very severe face. His clothes, a black robe with a silver coat above it, looked very expensive and had the Uchiha emblem.
“Oh! Hyuuga Neji. This is indeed a surprise. Whatever brings you to my modest home? ”
The man looked at him with air of superiority, but that didn’t intimidate the boy at all. He kept his head high as his grey eyes started to sparkle.
“I’m here on the request of Hatake Kakashi.” He spoke clear making sure to emphasis his teacher’s name.
“I’m surprised! He usually comes in person if he has something to tell me. But never the less I respect him very much so whatever he asked of me I’ll try and help.”
“I think he will be very grateful to you Sir.” He bowed a little not wanting to upset the head of the Uchiha family.
“So what’s this all about? And forgive me for being a horrible host by keeping you at the door. Please follow me to the terrace and you will explain everything while we drink some tea.” Neji really didn’t want to spend too much time in the Uchiha estate but now it seemed he didn’t have a choice.
Tiny little sparks were created when two swords meet each other in the air. At the end of each hilt two boys were breathing with difficulty. The sweat ran down their bare chests as their shirts where lying, forgotten, on the ground. I couldn’t answer if you were to ask me what was the reason they were fighting for. Maybe it was for honor or maybe for a fair Lady, but no matter the case both of them seemed convinced to bring the other one down. They retreated a little and prepared for another attack.
“I’m sorry to interrupt young masters but there’s someone here to see Sasuke-sama.”
“I’m not in the mood to see anybody just send them away.”
He didn’t bother to look at the servant, his eyes being fixed at his opponent. A smirk appeared on the other boys face. With his free hand he shoved some rebel threads of his red hair as his green eyes had a devilish glint.
“Fan girls again Sasuke?”
“Shut up Gaara! Or do you really want me to break your bones? ”
Gaara was one of the few friends that Sasuke had, ok he was the only friend that he had. But he wouldn’t let the boy make fun of him.
“Like you could! You asked me to train with you but all you did so far was dancing. Or do you intend on joining the ballet? I’m sure your fan girls will love that!”
“Oh if only your skills were as good as your mouth! What do you intend to do when you meet a real opponent? Bore him to death?”
Seeing that the boys didn’t give him any attention the man decided to try again.
“But Sasuke-sama your father insisted on you receiving him.” He was no fool. He knew what impact his words will have on his young master. Sasuke turned his attention to the servant.
“Very well bring him here.”
The man bowed with respect and went to fetch the Hyuuga. He was surprised to see that the boy was walking already towards them.
“Sasuke-sama is ready to talk to you now, young master.”
“Hmm. Like I’d care if he wanted to talk to me or not.”
He had explained to the head of the family that he was searching for a model. The man seemed delighted about this. Of course his older son didn’t have time but his younger one would be perfect. He called the old servant who opened the door and told him to take Neji to see Sasuke and to explain him the situation. As he walked towards the training ground, he started cursing his sensei for making him go through all this nonsense.
“Sasuke-san I’m here on the request of Hatake Kakashi he…” But Neji didn’t had time to finish his sentence.
“Whatever it is I don’t want to hear it from you Hyuuga.”
He didn’t bother to look at the other boy ignoring him exactly as he did with the servant. He focused his attention on Gaara and launched another attack. He was surprised to se that his friend didn’t go in defense. He was just standing there and when he finally realized that Sasuke attacked him it was too late. He fell on the hard ground and hit his head on a stone. Without even realizing what he was doing Neji jumped on the side of the boy.
“Are you alright?”
He didn’t know why he was worried for him since they didn’t even know each other. Well they have meet on one or two parties but they just were introduced and nothing more. Gaara’s father pasted away a year ago and the boy hade locked himself from the world, not that he was very popular from the beginning but now it seemed worst.
“Do you usually treat friends this way Uchiha?”
“We were training Hyuuga but I don’t think you know the meaning of that. You probably can’t even make the difference between a blade and a hilt.”
“Do you want to try me?”
“Cool it you two. And if anyone is going to hit Sasuke for this is going to be me. Attacking when I wasn’t paying attention was a low blow.”
“It wasn’t my fault that you were of in lala land. You never have to let your guard down in a duel. Why are you here anyway Hyuuga?”
“Oh! So now you’re ready to hear me out? Well I’m not a servant to speak only when his master wants him to. I’m done talking. You have to ask your father Uchiha. Goodbye! ”
“Wait I’ll see you to the door.”
Neji looked a little suspicious at Gaara. Thinking of what he said and observing the strange looks both boys were giving him the redheaded boy tried desperate to make an excuse.
“Well it is a big house and you could get lost and we were taking a break anyway.”
Neji just nodded in response as he made his way towards the house with Gaara behind him. Sasuke just looked perplex at his friend.’ What the hell? Since when is Gaara nice to people? Did he hit his head that hard? ’ but his thoughts were interrupted by the approaching of his brother.
“Has your sparing partner left, Sasuke?”
Itachi`s voice was cold as always. He sat in one of the chairs the servants put in case the boys were tired and wanted to rest. He poured some lemonade in one of the crystal glasses on the table nearby.
“His name is Gaara, Itachi. Can’t you even remember that?” he made his way to the table and took a glass that was half-empty. He drank it all without even stopping to breathe and let out a satisfied noise.
“I don’t bother remembering names of persons that are a disgrace to their families and town.” Itach stopped to look at Sasuke`s expression and was very satisfied with the reaction. His little brother was throwing daggers at him. “But then again” he continued with a smirk on his face “one tends to spend time with persons that are similar to him. Birds of a feather flock together right?”
A loud crack was heard as the glass in Sasuke’s hand shattered in pieces.
“Mom’s going to be really angry little brother. That was one of the collections brought from Venice.”
But Sasuke had already left towards the mansion. He feared that if he would stay longer the next thing to break would his brother’s neck. He met Gaara in the house and the boy gave him a questionable look.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m just peachy.”
He passed him and made his way towards his room. Garra sighed and followed his friend. He didn’t want to have a fight with Sasuke. For some weird reason his day had gotten a little brighter since the arrival of Neji.
“Sasuke there you are. Well aren’t you proud to be the Maestro’s model?”
Both boys stopped as they heard the voice of Sasuke’s father.
“The Maestro’s model? You mean Kakashi?”
“Yes I mean Kakashi. Is there another Maestro in this town?” his father had an annoyed expression on his face.
“Didn’t the Hyuuga boy tell you? But then again you probably sent him away. You’re not diplomatic at all. We might not like them but that doesn’t mean we lower our self’s into sparing. You could try to be a little more like Itachi.” Sasuke snarled as he heard his brother’s name. Leave it to his father to praise Itachi until no end.
“Model for what?”
“For his new painting of course. But you will find out tomorrow on your first session.”
With that, he left the two boys. Sasuke growled as he started to climb the stairs. He pushed the door of his room and dropped on the bed. His face had a blank expression as his eyes where fixed on the ceiling. Gaara entered the room and went to sit on the chair near the window while turning a few pages of his friend’s sketchbook taken from his desk.
“Why does my father hate me?” he didn’t look at Gaara as he spoke.
“At least you have a father.”
“What’s the use of having one if he doesn’t acknowledge you? In this family and in this stupid town I will always be Itachi’s brother and nothing more.”
“And since when do you care what people have to say? You don’t see me worrying of what my siblings think. Or did Itachi’s words finally have an effect on you?”
“I don’t care about him.”
“Really? Then why did you stop drawing?” Sasuke turned so that his face was now buried in the pillow.
“Because I don’t have any talent.”
“You have talent you imbecile you just have to stop believing everything Itachi says.” Sasuke sighed and started to mumble. Gaara rolled his eyes as he got up and headed to the door.
“I’m going home. I really don’t want to be here when you start having a personality crisis.” He heard a small chuckle as he left the room.
The sky was a deep blue. Little clouds spread here and there giving the impression that they were made out of cotton. A boy with brown hair and dark eyes, lying in the grass was observing this wonderful feast of nature.’ Nothing is more beautiful then watching the sky.’ However, his thoughts where interrupted by a yell.
“Shikamaru you lazy good for nothing boy. Stop slaking of and come help me with the books. We just received a lot of packages from the Earth Country and they need to be sorted.”
The boy turned towards the man that just screamed with a very bored expression.
“It should be illegal to be this loud Iruka-sensei.”
The man’s eye twitched as a vein appeared on his forehead. He looked very similar to Shikamaru. His brown hair was tied in a spiky ponytail and he had black eyes that were most of the time filled with kindness. He had a scar above his nose but he was still a handsome person. He sighed in defeat as he looked at Shikamaru. The boy was e genius but he had a lot to loose because of his laziness. Iruka had just received his title as the imperial librarian when they had their first encounter. The queen told him that Shikamaru was smart but he lacked motivation. Three years had pasted since the brunet was placed in his care but whatever he tried, it seemed to be useless against the sleeping nature of the genius.
“Iruka-sensei it’s lunch time. How about we take a break and go somewhere to eat? ”
“It would be impossible for you to take a break since you haven’t been working at all.” The man smirked. Yes, the boy was very clever but so was his teacher.
“Come on Iruka-sensei. I don’t want to start an argument with you. It will be too troublesome. ”
“Everything is troublesome for you. However, I would be a fool to say that I’m not hungry so let’s go to the ramen shop.”
As they slowly walked towards their destination, Shikamaru decided to ask his teacher something that was bothering him.
“Sensei why is Jiraya-san coming to Konoha?”
Iruka looked surprised at the boy.
“Where did you hear that from?”
“Asuma told me when we were playing chess.”
The man made a mental note to scold the captain of the soldiers later. He was a good person but didn’t know how to keep his mouth shut when he was playing with Shikamaru.
“Did you win?”
“Yes.”
“Good!” At least he will have something to rub on Asuma’s face.
“Jiraya-sama will be coming to Konoha on her majesty request.”
“But why?”
“Who knows? Maybe they just wanted to see each other. Almost 11 years have past since their last encounter.”
13 years ago Konoha was not such a peaceful place. The Sound Country started war with the Fire Country and attacked their town which was the capital. At that time the ruler was Sarutobi-sama an old but great man. The Sound was lead by Orochimaru a snake-like person that used to be one of Sarutobi students. For the protection of his country, the king gave his life. The war finally ended when Tsunade and Jiraya, both ex students of Sarutobi, had come to Konoha’s help. They destroyed the Sound army and Orochimaru had no choice but to retreat. Tsunade took the throne but Jiraya left mysteriously saying he’ll come back when Konoha will need him.
’So many lives were lost in that war’ Iruka started do drift away in his own little world remembering all his friends that were no longer alive.
“Sensei we’re here.” Shikamaru decided to wake the man from his trance state as they reached the shop. They opened the door and noticed a blond boy who was now grinning like mad.
“Iruka-sensei! Shikamaru! It’s so good to see you.”
Sitting at one of the tables, Naruto waved at his former teacher and his friend. Shikamaru rolled his eyes at the reaction of the boy. ‘Why do people have to be so loud today? ’. He and Iruka joined Naruto and order two bowls of ramen. Apparently, the blond boy was at the third bowl.
“I’m really glad to see you Naruto. What have you been up to? Almost three days have past since you were here the last time. ”
“Did you miss me Iruka-sensei?”
Naruto started batting his eyelashes. His former teacher raised his head to look at him and smirked.
“Well I did but I couldn’t say the same thing about my wallet.”
The blond boy pouted as Shikamaru started to snicker. It was common knowledge that if Iruka and Naruto met at the ramen shop the former teacher would most likely end up treating the boy. Now the man could only pray that Naruto would be satisfied with the three bowls after all he had to pay for himself and Shikamaru and his salary was average.
“Kakashi-sensei made me and Neji study literature, history, contemporary art and so on. It was hell this past days.”
“Now Naruto, there’s nothing bad about learning.”
“Yes it is.”
Iruka was not surprised that both Naruto and Shikamaru answered at the same time. The man just shocked his head. This would be an argument that he will never win.
“So how’s Kakashi-sensei by the way?”
Naruto smiled at his former teacher. Iruka always was interested in the Maestro.
“He’s suicidal.”
“What? Why?”
“The queen gave him an ass of a theme. Something about light and darkness. It’s his fault in the end. He wants to give it to the old hag as a birthday present so she will be forced to put it in the throne room as to not offend the Maestro.”
“Why would he want that?”
This time was Shikamaru who spoke. Everything that involved the Kakashi was big news in Konoha. Maybe he could trade what Naruto told him for more information from Asuma.
“Well you know Tsunade doesn’t want him to open his gallery, so he probably wants to force her hand. But now the problem is the models.”
“Models?” Iruka had a quizzical look on his face.
“Yes he needs two models. A girl and a boy. I had to look for a girl who could have angelic features and Neji for a boy with demonic ones, but things didn’t turn out that great. The only person who accepted was Hinata.”
“You asked Hyuuga Hinata to be the model?” Shikamaru gave his friend a disturbed look.” Neji is going to kill you Naruto.”
“No he’s not! You’re exaggerating Shika. Anyway I have to go, Kakashi would probably want to know how things went. Thanks for the meal Iruka-sensei! Bye!”
Naruto rose from the chair and left the shop.
“Neji is going to kill him.”
Shikamaru said as he swallowed his noodles. However, Iruka seemed to be of in his little world again.
’Poor Kakashi. I really hope he doesn’t over work himself.’
“YOU WHAT?”
Neji really wasn’t having a good day. First, he was utterly humiliated by the head of the Uchiha family, then that bastard Sasuke had treated him like a servant. Things were finally brightening up when Gaara offered to see him to the door. He didn’t know why the presence of the redhead made him feel a little wormer inside. Maybe because the boy kept looking at him when he thought Neji wasn’t paying attention. He found that to be very childish but amusing in the same time. He actually felt a little sorry that he hadn’t talked too much with him, but when he reached his teacher’s house and was greeted by Naruto telling him that his cousin Hinata was the model for the painting, clouds started to appear on Neji’s blue sky. Clouds that were predicting a hell of a storm.
“And you agreed with this?”
His grey eyes were now burning holes in his teacher’s chest. Naruto was hiding behind Kakashi as for the man, well he was just glad that there weren’t any sharp objects that Neji could use against them.
“Please calm down Neji-kun. There’s no need for violence.” Neji took a deep breath and lowered his voice.
“I wasn’t planning on hurting you.”
Naruto finally started breathing. From the moment Neji turned psycho on them he had forgotten that humans need air.
“I don’t understand why you went crazy. It’s not like she’s going to pose nude. ”
The next second Kakashi had to put all his force to retain Neji from strangling the idiot blond boy.
“Calm down Neji-kun. Of course Hinata wasn’t going to pose nude.”
Neji tried to keep his temper and to restrain from breaking anything.
“You should loosen up. Having this crisis is bad for yo…Umf!”
A hand slapped Naruto’s mouth. Kakashi wasn’t going to let his idiot assistant say some more stupidities that might enrage Neji.
“How did things go at the Uchiha estate?”
Naruto looked curious at the older boy. ‘What the hell was he doing at the Uchiha’s? He hates them.’
Neji smirked. It was payback time.
“His father was very happy about your proposition. Sasuke will be here tomorrow at nine am.”
“Why is that bastard coming here?” Naruto started to glare at his teacher.
“His going to be the male model.”
“WHAT?”
“Naruto please don’t shout. I really have no intention to fix the windows.”
“Why did you do this to me? I hate him! He’s the greatest bastard in this city, scratch that in the world! ”
Neji started to snicker. Revenge was so sweet and he would like nothing more than to see what Naruto would do to Kakashi but his uncle had sent for him so he couldn’t delay any more.
“Well I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow morning. Well that’s if you’re not dead till then sensei.”
With that said, he left the room leaving behind an angry blond boy and a rather annoyed teacher.
“Please don’t let your personal feelings mix with your work Naruto.”
The boy mumbled incoherent words as he made his way towards the door. He stopped as he remembered something.
“By the way, Iruka-sensei asked about you.”
“He did? What did he say?”
The man looked utterly delighted.
“Nothing much just wanted to know what you were doing.”
“And what did you tell him?”
“That you have problems sleeping, that you talk to yourself and that you’re flirting with every girl in town.”
“WHAT?”
Naruto made an innocent face.
“Ow, I didn’t know that you valued so much Iruka’s opinion. And, Kakashi-sensei please don’t shout. I doubt you want to fix the windows.”
Then he left the room.
A/n: yes very long, at least that's what I think XD as always please rate and review. Criticism is welcomed but not flaming ^_^
Reno's_Lover: I'm sorry but the story was written quite some time ago and although I wanted to change some parts of the plot I've found it very difficult. I hope that you enjoyed the chapter and I'll try to add more funny parts ^0^ and yes Itachi is going to be an ass but I think this is his best trade XD
riddle_me_yellow: I usually have the gift to end the chapters with cliffhangers but I decided to drop that old habit...at least till now XD I hope you enjoyed this chapter as well ^^
Kativachan: I'm glade that you reviewed, I've read a lot of your fanfictions so I was really happy to see that you have a positive view of the story till now
airhead622: OMG! I'm ssssooo happy that you remembered my story! I'm sorry that I just let it drop that way and that I've disappointed a lot of reviewers but this time I will end it for sure so please keep reading and reviewing XD
Chibi D.J.: thank you for the review, the start and this chapter are just so I can explain the backgrounds of the chars, or at least some parts of them ^^
