A little
less than a month had gone by and she was still working twice a day, once being
normal classes, the other being her make up classes for graduation. Her mom was
determined to have her daughter graduate this year, staying back once was more
than enough. Never mind her daughter had gone missing for one full night and
came back with her clothing torn. Never mind the fifteen year old had sunk into
a deep depression since then and has only begun to fake her usual enthusiasm.
You say… cause I still got my soul. Take your time baby your blood
needs slowing down
“Ow!” She felt the rod hit the back of her head and promptly
the music stopped and the four other girls stopped moving as well. The girls
looked at the girl.
“Your hand positions are horrible!” The flamboyant male
voice of the instructor called from his spot on the other side of the expansive
room. All heads turned toward the man. Before any could blink he moved side to
side in a wave pattern leaving an after image behind him. Each girl tensed up
wondering who would be the one he’d pick on today. All eyes were closed and
scrunched before‘oof’ had been heard. Three let out a relieved sigh since it
hadn’t been them while their gazes headed in the direction of none other than…
“Mizuka Kanna…” The male spoke as the girl had fallen back
out of shock. In the middle of her forehead had been a circular mark, much like
the one on the end of his stick. The girl frowned standing up as the teacher
strolled around in a small square. “Her visage, lovely; her neck, long and
graceful; legs, lengthy and sexy; posture, among the best; grace, well enough.
Over all she looks like a woman any man could possibly wish to marry…until she
opens her mouth.” He kept on strolling in his square as the white haired woman
frowned and the other three girls in after class laughed.
“What?!?” She was obviously peeved with the simple comment.
“That is correct. Your mind is always in the clouds, you are
always worrying about you which do you no good since you will soon have a
family to worry for… should you graduate.” He ignored her trembling from anger.
“I can see you introducing yourself to some brave young man who finds the
contrast of your deep flesh and white hair attractive.” He stopped. “I am
Mizuka Kanna. Please be kind to me. I can arrange flowers beautifully, I can
dance, I can cook, I can clean, and I can read and play music. Yes, I can do it
all beautifully so long as I focus. Yes, I have a short attention span, so
while we may have beautiful white haired children I may go off in my own little
world while they play out back with hot pans and axes trying to kill each
other.” The Man then stopped and got close to her face as her eyes glared back
at him. “If you’ve got the attention span to be angry, use it to watch your
hand movements.” He turned his back leaving nothing more than an after image
behind to move and turn the music back on. Before he could push play…
“Oh! Oh! Oh!” He could hear her feminine voice mocking him. “Aituro
Lai is my name. I am such a flamboyant young man…” She stood and leaned towards
the girls half whispering. “This might come from my preference of men, which is
why I am here teaching young girls about grace.” She stood. “This is what makes it easy for me
to criticize girls when they do no do things as I say to earn a husband, heaven
know I cannot find one for myself.” She laughed sensing the dark atmosphere
known as anger radiate from the other half of the room. She continued laughing
as the other girls giggled slightly until Lai was once more on the move this
time crouching low in a sprint with his stick ready to strike. By time he made
it to right behind her to swing she fell into a perfect split dodging the wooden
stick.
“You will not be disrespecting me in my domain. You do not
wish to let down your family.” He swung once more this time downward and she
rolled right over the side making him glance at her. Her back was to him and
she sensed the oncoming swing. She stood up fixing her clothes.
“I don’t give a…” She paused wondering if the word should
come out or not… let’s go with not. “…care if let down my family. I refuse to
be taught by a person who cannot even wed himself! Such Hypocrisy!!!” She looked
at the man. She then marched toward him obviously still unhappy and she looked
him in the eyes. “And Sensei, do me a favor and do not disrespect me in front
of the class.” She then turned her back to him. She then glanced over his
should smirking and she seemed to glide across the floor to the door leaving
nothing more than an after image in his face sticking her tongue out.
“It is that behavior that held you back last year, and it is
that behavior that will leave you an old maid for the rest of your life!”
“Well maybe I have developed strength of my own to not need
MEN!” She slammed the door shut behind her…
*~*~*~
“Naruto-kun…” She whispered to herself as she had begun to
mix together some of her special medicine. She knew tears wanted to fall since
her heart felt pain for him.
“Hinata-sama…” His voice made her jump from her reverie.
“Hai! Neji-nisan.” She turned her pale eyes towards the
male. Both her father and he had been sitting waiting with the tea. Of course
she set aside her medicinal herbs silently glad that she hadn’t made it a step
further other wise it would all have to be done as soon as possible. After
washing her hands in the nearby water bowl she knelt next to her father and
begun to pour tea for them.
“You really do need to extend your offense.” Hizashi uttered
out as Neji sat silently. Neji… Seeing the sweat drip down his face set some
relief in her heart, all of whom who went on that mission were gravely injure
but have now fully healed, but at the same time more pain for her beloved fox. Oh yes, she knew about the Kyuubi no Youko. She
had overheard adults talking about him many years ago…
But despite
being carrier of the Kyuubi the pain he must be in is something entirely
different. She had known that they would forge a weird friendship. They argued
too much, paying too much attention to one another to hate one another. And now
the one he could call friend is gone. Three nearly paid with their lives, one
with his heart. That one is the one she wishes to help. There has to be some
way to help him. After all it’s only been four months even cold trails had
something to tell…. Right? Right?
“I’m going for a walk…” She mumbled gathering her medicinal
herbs and put them in a bag and left the Hyuuga grounds. She walked through the
village watching the townspeople move about laughing, joking, and moving on
with their lives as if nothing happened. As if a talented genin hadn’t left the
village seeking power with the very man who tried to destroy the village. It
kinda gave the world a gray view. How sad….
“How sad… She murmured once more before finding that her feet
led her to the very swing he could always be found at when he was down. Seeing
the swing outside the academy empty made her feel down. She always feels like she
could do more. More to make him notice her, more to make him feel important,
more for him in general. She would dedicate her life to him and that was true.
“But I can’t even console him…” She added sadly as she sat
down under the tree taking out her stuff. She could feel tears settle in her
throat as she crushed up the herbs in a bowl. For him…. That was the only
thought in her head as she continued to mix her medicine.
“Hinata…?” his voice called out to her startling her. She
glanced up at him.
“Naruto-kun…” She watched him take the final steps to sit on
the swing.
“I didn’t think anyone would be here.” He said with a
distant look in his eye. But he remained silent She looked at him wishing her
mouth would open up but she said nothing mixing her medicine. Nothing seemed
right to say so she remained silent finishing off the cream and scraping it
into two small jars.
“Naruto-kun…” She took one of the jars handing it to him. “I
know my cream doesn’t work on your heart.” She sighed watching his gaze look at
the remedy confused. “And the Bikochuu mission would have been nice…but time
goes on. I know he won’t let himself be killed by that man so easily. And your
path with him will cross again. I know it.” She smiled softly at him as the gentle
winds blew. “When that time comes… you’ll have him and you’ll snatch him back
from the darkness.” She found herself at an end for words. The silence was so
awkward the only thing that made any movement was the wind carrying her words.
“Hinata-chan…” He called to her. He rose to his feet and he
stood right behind her. For some reason he felt as if he should hug the girl
for her attempt. Of all the people he knew and knew cared about him, she was
truly the first to acknowledge the pain he had been feeling.
Tsunade-obachan
had kept him busy with missions, Kakashi had sort of been MIA. Iruka-sensei had
been around but didn’t quite know the words. Jiraiya was also MIA for the past
six months. And those he graduated with… they’ve been off doing his own thing.
The only other person he expected to have something to say was Sakura, but she
was wrapped up in her own emotions. And here this girl who was always just so
weird at least made an attempt… an awkward attempt but made one. Somewhere her
words touched a part of him… a part that had been dying for some soothing words
somewhere, even if he didn’t act as such.
“Naruto-kun.” She turned around and took a step back
noticing how close he was. Slowly his arms stretched out in a hugging position
and she could feel her face heat up already.
“Hinata-chan…I-”
“YO!” The entire mood… everything… shattered. “Not
interrupting, am I?”
“Ero-sennin?”
*~*~*~*~*
Snatch him from the darkness….
“I’m home…” She muttered opening the door, smoothing out her
white hair that the wind had just blown. Immediately a hand came across
striking her left cheek. She didn’t even move and let the sting settle before
she looked at her mother. She turned her head back and took a deep inhale in
but the exhale was cut short…Suddenly she was not feeling very well.
“What were you thinking?!? Lai-sensei almost refused to
allow you back into classes.”
“What is that smell?” She cringed inhaling once more. Her stomach
felt like she had been spinning circles for the past five minutes.
“Don’t change the subject! You failed to graduate last year
and you will not fail it again this year! All the quality men will be taken by
quality girls. How do you expect to marry if you defy everyone’s attempt to
make your life better?!?”
“Really, mother, what is that smell.”
“Lai-sensei was right. You have no sense of attention. Head is
always in the cloud right?!?” Her mother continued to rant.
“Mother…” The voice of her brother came out soft.
“I knew I should’ve fixed that when I first noticed it when
you were six.”
“Mother... Really what is that smell?!?” Kanna screamed out
immediately having her hand fly up to cover her mouth.
“It’s just dinner.” The woman finally answered. “Grilled
fish and rice…” She turned towards her daughter who was now rushing out of the
front door and to the side of the house. The sound of her retching did not go
unheard.
