I'm very sad to have to post this...
My friend who wrote this passed away some years ago. I was looking throw some old emails i had from here and found this fic. This is the prologe if anyone who like to pic up this story and make it there own i'm sure she would like to see it finished just give her some well wishes and honor her. Her pen name was totchi_neko aka Tara . This work was unbated.
The tightness in his shoulders was the first thing he noticed, the dull burn of muscles that had been pulled to their limit and then some and forced to stay that way with or without the consent of their owner. More pain came after that, the stings and aches that came from an intense bout of fighting, and the slight grate of bone at his most minor movement, a sign of the broken ribs that had most likely come from the blow that had finished the fight. He coughed and tasted blood, thick and coppery. A foot appeared in front of his face, inadvertantly kicking dust into his mouth. He looked up at the man who stood above him and spat dirt and blood across the strangely pristine red clouds. The foot caught him across the face and he was rolling, bound arms and ankles giving him little chance to stop the motion once it started. It was a tree that stopped him and when he opened his eyes colors seemed to blossom across his vision agains the backdrop of the foliage. He blinked a few times as his vision began towaver. Uzumaki Naruto was not the type to give up. Never. It just wasn't his way.
He was fairly certain that he wasn't going to live through the night.
A face came into view above him, obscuring the leaves and the eyes were so familiar. So similar to the eyes of a friend lost. Or maybe lost was the wrong word. Not that it mattered since he was probably not going to live long enough to see that person again. To keep his promise.
Hands gripped his ankles and he was dragged towards a fire, his head bumped across rocks and sticks. His tongue met his teeth and he felt it slice open, more blood to swallow. Something wasn't right in his mouth, it felt strange and swollen and his teeth didn't seem to fit right in it. Perhaps his jaw had been broken and he just wasn't able to process it yet. Itatchi let go of his ankle and he rolled onto his side to spit the blood onto the ground and glare at the two men who sat far more comfortably than himself.
"I expected him to die," Kisame said as he stared into what looked like a mirror. The man looked at him with a grin "What exactly are we supposed to do with him now? We have what we came for, Tainted or no. Should we just kill him now?" His partner didn't even look at him, his eyes locked on to the boy who lay there glaring at him, no hint of emotion in the bloody depths of his eyes.
"I think that there might be a better use for him." came the reply, strangely loud to the blonde boy who was trying to talk around the strangle swollen sensation in his jaw, but could only manage a weak gurgle. He was losing himself in those eyes and the misture of pain and complete helplessness made him reach for whatever chakra he might have left, ready to die in an attempt to free himself, ready to give himself up to the fierce pull of the Kyuubi if it would save him from whatever fate this man had planned for him.. When he reached inside himself he found something unexpected. It was like someone had reached into him and torn a piece of him out, leaving shredded carnage where a complete soul had once been. Bits of something else clung to him, a presence and a power he had known all of his life. Those last remaining shreds of chakra were growing, tying his own chakra system back together in some sort of strange need to survive. There was no power left to attack with, he would die before he managed any sort of attack. And the Kyuubi would not help him because somehow they had torn it out of him. They had succeeded in their mission to take the demon, or at least most of it. And it looked like they had gotten a fair chunk of him too.
There were times when he just wanted to cry. He didn't have the energy. He closed his eyes and waited, because despite what Itatchi said, he still thought he was going to die.
"Break his ankles. He's light enough to carry and I don't want him getting away," those scarlet eyes stayed completely nuetral as he said those words. The former mist ninja shrugged and got up stretching a bit as he walked towards his victim. Naruto tried to muster the strength to move, to roll away or struggle, but it just wasn't there. The hands that removed his shoes were gentle, the eyes behind them completely uncaring as two hands twisted and fragile bones shattered. He didn't even scream, the pain enough to break his fragile hold on consciousness and he fell into a void where bright red eyes watched him as he tumbled into the never ending blackness.
