A/N: I know, this chapter is a little late and a little light i orginally had it attatched to the last chapter but thought better to have it as two single chapters. Hope you enjoy reading the new chapter.

Chapter 18: Secrets Revealed

As the second Tailed Beast Bomb detonated on contact with the chakra vortex Kurama slammed his right hand on the ground as the chakra vortex rushed towards them.

The trickling of a river was the first thing Naruto heard as he slowly began to awaken from unconsciousness. Naruto slowly opened his eyes only to quickly shut them again with a moan as he looked directly into the shining sun.

“Ouch, ouch, ouch.” He muttered as he rubbed his sore eyes and turned his head to the right and slowly tried again to open his eyes. His eyes bolted open at what he saw lying next to him staring at him. Lying next to Naruto looking directly back at Naruto was a giant reddish orange fox.

“About time you woke up Naruto.” A familiar voice said to Naruto’s left. Naruto looked to his left and standing not ten feet away was Kurama in all his glory.

“We’re dead aren’t we, that’s the only way you can be outside of me?” Naruto muttered as he closed his eyes.

“No you’re not dead and most of me is still sealed inside you.” Kurama laughed as he stood over Naruto blocking out the sun.

“Then how are you outside of me you’re obviously not a clone?” Naruto asked looking up at the smiling fox.

“Because this is my home, this is where I come from, oh and because you and I are now fully bonded. This is why I can manifest myself outside your body, part of me will always be anchored to you but I can now physically manifest myself outside your body.” Kurama replied happily as Naruto bolted upright and looked around him, looked from Kurama to the other fox that was still studying him.

“Let me guess you no longer have to go inside the cage?” Naruto asked to which Kurama nodded in the positive. “What about the seal is it still there?” Naruto asked again Kurama nodded yes. “And where is here exactly?” Naruto asked looking around the forest clearing with a small stream gurgling on the far side of the clearing.

“Ah you’re in a place called Kitsune Valley, home to the Fox Sages and our Summoning Contract.” Kurama said happily as he watched Naruto take a double take.

“You mean you are one of the fox summons?” Naruto asked looking at the other fox and back to Kurama.

“I used to be before I became an immortal chakra beast.” Kurama replied looking back over his shoulder, which is when Naruto heard someone or something approach.

Naruto looked around the orange/red fox to see a snow white fox, which he soon saw was indeed a vixen, whose mane trailed down her back to her nine tails that were tipped in the same flame orange/red as Kurama’s fur. Behind the nine tailed vixen walked a smaller orange vixen with seven tails and a curled mane on top of her head that was just a bit smaller than half the size of the white vixen.

“Naruto I want you to meet my sister Kuzunoha and my niece Vermilion.” Kurama said as the two vixens stood beside Kurama looking down at the blonde.

“You have family?” Naruto asked dumbly as his brain was overloaded with surprise after surprise.

“Kurama you idiot you’re overloading the poor boy’s brain with all this surprising information.” The snow furred vixen said whacking Kurama on the head with one of her tails before she lay down in front of the staring Naruto.

“Look into my eyes Naruto.” Kuzunoha said hypnotizing the blonde as he stared dumbly into the vixen’s eyes. Kurama caught the falling Naruto before he hit the ground.

“Kurama we’ll take him to the elders see if he is the one that was prophesized by the toads.” Kuzunoha said as she turned and left the clearing trailed by Vermilion.

‘Still as bossy as ever.’ Kurama thought following his sister with Naruto sound asleep in his mane.

Hokage’s Office, Hidden Leaf Village, 60 hours after the prison incident

“Cat your report, now!” Tsunade snapped at the captain of her ANBU guards.

“The chakra vortex is still raging and it is still expanding, it’s now the size of the Island itself.” Cat replied as she kneeled before the seated Hokage. Just as she finished speaking a swirl of leaves announced the arrival of another masked ANBU.

“Lady Hokage the vortex is shrinking but continuing to spin faster and faster.” The hawk masked ANBU said kneeling beside Cat.

“Good it means the Jutsu is winding down. Have any bodies turned up yet?” Tsunade asked in the motion of getting out of her chair.

“Uhm yes and no, Lady Tsunade as the vortex shrinks more and more skeletons are revealed, so far no whole bodies have turned up yet.” The hawk masked ANBU replied as Tsunade walked to the door, opening it and calling out to Shizune.

“You called Lady Tsunade.” Shizune said as she ran up the hallway to stand in front of Tsunade.

“Yes, the vortex is winding down so go get some Medical Ninja from the hospital and head directly to the vortex.” Tsunade ordered turning away as Shizune disappeared in a swirl of leaves. Walking back into her office Tsunade turned to the two kneeling ANBU, “Cat you are to get a second ANBU squad and report immediately to the vortex, Hawk you and I will return to your squad, now move.” Tsunade said before disappearing in a swirl of leaves, Hawk and Cat scrambling to follow her orders.

Tsunade walked out of the swirl of leaves watching as the chakra vortex continued to shrink in size. She could see and smell the stench of the burnt and blackened skeletons of the former prisoners and the few guards that had been caught in the cross-fire and explosions that resulted in the chakra vortex.

“Lady Tsunade?” The two ANBU guards saluted as she approached them.

“Have any bodies turned up yet or just these blackened skeletons?” Tsunade asked stepping beside them.

“Yes, just before you arrived a body turned up that I think you will want to see.” The closer of the two ANBU said.

“Show me!” Tsunade ordered her voice oddly cold as the two ANBU’s led her closer to the ruined body of a black haired, armless male that was lying stiff and still on the outskirt of the shrinking vortex. As they got closer Tsunade could see exactly who the armless body used to belong to.

“Grab that fucking traitor and bring him here.” Tsunade ordered angrily, the two ANBU jumping to fulfill her orders.

Kitsune Valley

“Naruto you awake back there?” Kurama asked as Naruto yawned and stretched his tired and sore muscles.

“Yeah I’m awake, Kurama where are we going?” Naruto asked as he sat up and span around in Kurama’s mane and looked ahead at the giant building the three foxes were walking towards.

“The elders want to see you about something important.” Kurama replied as they walked into the building.

“Big building you got here it’s bigger than anything in the Hidden Leaf.” Naruto said in slight awe as he looked up at the vaulted ceiling.

“Well it has to be since most of us summons are bigger than most buildings in the world.” Kuzunoha said over her shoulder at the blonde who was taking in the building’s interior with fascination.

The foxes walked to the far side of the building to where five foxes sat or lounged in a semi-circle facing the middle of the building.

“Ok Naruto time to get down, follow what we do and only speak when spoken to ok?” Kurama said as allowed Naruto to slide off his back.

“Right, um why am I here anyway?” Naruto asked as he stood beside his furry and first ever friend.

“There is a prophecy about a child destined to either save or destroy the world, or something like that.” Kurama replied as they watched Kuzunoha approach the five foxes.

“Why have you come before us Kuzunoha?” the middle fox whose fur was a pure snow white. ‘He must be the oldest’ Naruto thought as Kuzunoha bowed before the five foxes.

“Hey Kurama who was it that predicted this stupid prophecy?” Naruto asked while the others were busy.

“The Sage of the Six Paths did.” Kurama replied before the fox council looked away from Kuzunoha and at Naruto and Kurama.

“Kurama bring the boy before us!” The middle fox ordered. Naruto bristled at being referred to as boy!

“Easy Naruto, just keep calm and I’ll introduce you.” Kurama said as Naruto followed him with a huff and stood in front of the five giant foxes. He didn’t bow besides Kurama instead just crossed his arms over his chest and tapped his right foot in an annoyed stance.

“Elders this is Naruto Uzumaki, he is the only son of Minato Namikaze, Fourth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf and Kushina Uzumaki and is now the sole remaining heir to the Hidden Whirlpool.” Kurama said looking at Naruto sheepishly when Naruto cleared his throat.

“Kurama, what is this about “Sole Heir” to the Hidden Whirlpool?” Naruto asked tapping his foot.

“Remember when I said that only Uzumaki’s can be used as my Jinchūriki vessel, well that is a generalization. The real reason for that is something very specific; only certain Uzumaki’s can hold my power.” Kurama said slightly beating around the issue that was hanging in the air like an executioner’s sword.

“Because we are related to the Sage of the Six Paths but so are the Senju, Uchiha and the Hyūga.” Naruto replied offhandedly.

“Yes but that’s only part of it. Each clan that is related to the Sage of Six Paths only has a single ability or bloodline trait. For the Senju it is massive amounts of chakra, which they share with the Uzumaki but the Uzumaki inherited the trait of extremely long natural life spans along with the pure power that comes with it. Both the Uchiha and the Hyūga inherited Bloodline traits in their eyes but low chakra levels compared to the Senju and Uzumaki.” Kurama explained to the blonde who was nodding along with everything the fox was saying.

“Yes, yes I already know all this, what does this have to do with me and this “heir” business?” Naruto replied a little annoyed that he had to ask the question again.

“Let’s just say the in main branch of the Uzumaki clan these bloodline traits are ten to one hundred times stronger than the branch members of the clan. So to be perfectly honest only an Uzumaki who is a direct descendant of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki can be a vessel for me and not go insane or be completely overwhelmed and absorbed by my chakra.” Kurama replied honestly to the blonde.

Turning to face the council Naruto spoke in a quiet dangerous voice that contained all his pent up frustrations. “So what is this prophecy that Kurama and Kuzunoha have mentioned?” Naruto asked his mind trying to get around the flood of information.

Just as he finished speaking the large double doors burst open and two wolves walked into the hall. The one on the left was white like pure snow the other as black as a moonless night.

“So this is the prophesized one?” the large black wolf growled as he and his companion continued to walk towards the gathered foxes.

“Watch who you talk to like that mutt, unless you want to be turned into a brand new fur coat.” Naruto snarled moving his hands towards his wrists and the two swords sealed away there.

“Haha I like this pup he’s got guts, threatening Lupis as if it was nothing.” The white wolf laughed as he looked at the annoyed look on the black wolf’s face.

“I was not threatening, just giving my one and only warning.” Naruto muttered angrily.

“If we’re done with the interruptions can we get back down to the business at hand?” The elder fox asked with a sigh.

ANBU Torture & Interrogation Facility’s Morgue

Tsunade burst into the examination room where Shizune was conducting an autopsy on the partial remains of Danzō.

“Shizune what have you found?” Tsunade asked as she pulled on a pair of surgical gloves.

“Quite a bit Lady Tsunade, Naruto really did a number on him.” Shizune said as she placed the scalpel in her hand on a metal tray.

“Found anything specific?”

“Yes, and you won’t like this Lady Tsunade but I found your grandfather’s DNA in Danzō’s right shoulder as well as a few destinct Uchiha DNA.” Shizune said passing Tsunade a clipboard with the two DNA reports.

“What about what the clones mentioned about Shisui’s Sharingan being in Danzō’s right eye?” Tsunade asked as she read the two DNA reports.

“It’s true I found the eye where the clone said it was and it matches Shisui’s DNA.” Shizune said pointing to a jar with an eyeball floating in it.

Tsunade picked up the clipboard next to the jar and looked it over. “A perfect match.” Tsunade muttered as she studied the reports on the two clipboards. “Shizune are you ok, you’ve been locked away in here for almost 50 hours?” Tsunade asked placing the reports back on the trolley next to the examination table.

“No, have you seen what the villagers are doing? They’re partying and celebrating Naruto’s death, that the Demon Brat is dead. The fact they’re doing it in front of Hinata, Haku, Karin and Fuu, I’m surprised they haven’t started a blood bath yet.” Shizune muttered sadly as she took off the blood soaked surgical gloves and deposited them in a small bin on the bottom of the trolley.

“Yes I’ve seen them and it pisses me off, and I have had to remove Hinata from the village’s active shinobi roster.” Tsunade muttered angrily as she stalked back and forth.

“Lady Tsunade are you afraid that the village will be attacked again if word gets out that our “Jinchūriki weapon” is dead?” Shizune asked as she removed her medical scrubs.

“Yes I’m worried, the village appears weak when a traitor works against the village for almost 30 years and add the removal of our Jinchūriki I fear that some of the village’s enemies will try to take advantage of our perceived weakness.” Tsunade replied as she and Shizune left the examination room.

“Lady Tsunade what did you do with the remains of Homura and Koharu?” Shizune asked as they walked out of the morgue and headed for the Hokage tower.

“Like all traitors they’re buried in an unmarked grave outside of the village.” Tsunade replied continuing their walk back to Tsunade’s office. All around them in bars and inns they could hear the villagers celebrating the demise of Naruto. “Come on Shizune,” Tsunade growled as she Shunshined away in a swirl of leaves, Shizune following close behind.

Kitsune Valley Council Building

“Kurama you’ve been with the child since his birth, do you believe he is the chosen one?” The eldest fox asked again, even though Kurama had already answered the question, though this time Naruto wasn’t here to interrupt like the first time.

“Honestly yes he’s not just a direct descendant of the Sage of Six Paths but he has already befriended or gained the respect of five of us nine Tailed Beasts.” Kurama replied to the council of foxes and wolves.

“It seems he walks the path to destruction rather than the path of salvation. What path do you think he walks down?” The silver furred wolf asked the orange/red furred Kurama.

“Right now he is a clean slate with one foot on each path but sooner or later that path will diverge and I can see him walking down either of those paths, all it would take is the death of one of his mates and he will forever walk the path of destruction.” Kurama replied honestly as he looked around at the worried faces of the council.

“Then how do we keep him from the path of death, of destruction and all-consuming darkness?” The elder fox asked looking around at the assembled foxes and wolves.

“First off we have to develop his skills and abilities because his growth has been stunted by the continued attempted murders, bashings, malnutrition and complete lack of interest in his development by his own teachers and the village his parents died to protect.” Kurama replied angrily smashing his right paw into the floor.

“We should also let him sign our summoning contracts but also allow him to sign other contracts as well.” The silver furred wolf said to the nodding council.

“Are you sure this is a safe idea if we do this we could be just be creating the most dangerous ninja in history and creating our very own destruction?” Kuzunoha asked aloud, causing all the others to seriously think if their plan was a risk worth taking.

“It is a risk we have to take there are forces moving in the world with intentions we have no idea about and goals only known to themselves.” The elder fox said looking around.

“So we train the brat, sign him to our summoning contracts, and what just send him back out into the world? Send him to reclaim The Hidden Whirlpool and all the knowledge, power and contracts that were sealed away when the Leaf and the four other nations united to destroy them? What do you plan for the boy?” Lupis asked the others seriously.

High above the council on top of the roof the slightly shocked blonde subject of the council was secretly listening into the conversation.

'What a surprise they just want to control and use me. Why does everybody that meets me want to use me? Why the fuck am I even here for anyway?’ Naruto thought angrily as he lay atop the building listening into the council’s private meeting. Getting up and walking to the edge of the roof before he dropped off of the roof landing lightly on the ground before sneaking back into the surrounding forest.

Finding a hidden glade he pulled out one of his Hiraishin kunai blades, standing still in the center of the glade he slowed his anger induced racing heart and focused on the task at hand. He allowed his chakra to flow to his hands and into the Hiraishin formula on the kunai handle.

Naruto allowed his chakra and senses to flow out from the kunai in his hand towards the other formulae he had placed throughout the ninja world during his missions.

‘Come on, come on there must be at least one formula close enough to connect to and use?’ Naruto thought as he continued to spread out his chakra looking for a formula to teleport to.

As he was thinking he almost passed over a weak signal from a formula that seemed to be almost a continent away from where he was standing.

“What are you doing Naruto?” Vermilion asked as she walked into the clearing.

“Going.” Naruto replied as he activated the Hiraishin formula and disappeared in an orange spark in the flick of an eye.

Naruto was halfway through teleporting to his selected formula when a pain in his chest, head and stomach pulled him out of the teleportation. Naruto reappeared high in the sky clutching his head and heart before plummeting down to the desert below. Naruto crashed into the sandy dunes his body being scratched, torn and broken as he crashed through sand and rock sending him head over heels from rough, irritable sand onto jagged sharp rocks leaving Naruto lying face down unconscious as his head slammed into a protruding rock.

A/N2: So for those interested Kuzunoha and Vermilion were orginally based off of Ninetales and Vulpix from pokemon but with some slight tweaks, also Kuzunoha was named after the original japanese nine-tails.

A/N3: I'm unsure when the next chapter will be up hopefully sometime during May but if Uni assignements get in the way early June after Exams.
