Startled by the accusation, Naruto turned to look. Indeed, the strawberry blond did have a rounder face than Kana. The large blue eyes matched the shade of his own. Shino was also quick to smile at his grouchier sister, laughing full heartedly at her bouts of angry fits. As an eyebrow raised, the man turned to look back to Sasuke. "What are you talking about?" Naruto wanted to have at least some sort of denial. "He's got red hair." That was sound reasoning and he was going to stick to it.
"Your mom had red hair." "And I got my dad's. His genes are stronger." Turning back to unpacking, the frustrated blond began to dice the peppers, tomatoes, and onions on the countertop. There was brand new stir fry pan resting, getting filled with a light amount of oil precooked white rice from a plastic container. With the kunai he was using to chop, Naruto scoped the rest of the ingredients into the skillet. "Doesn't mean that your kids..." Sasuke's words came to a halt with the slamming the pan down onto the lit gas eye of the stove. The loud clang made everyone stop to look. "Ah! Dropped it! Sorry!" Looking to each other, the twins shrugged it off. The TV had most of their attention anyway. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, sighing as he turned to help empty the rest of the bags. "I didn't mean to say your 'kids', Naruto. I just meant that if Orochimaru did something, he had plenty of chances to take something from me and bottle it away." The blond visually flinched, unknown to Sasuke who had his eyes down to what he was unpacking. "You've fought him too. You don't understand how his mind worked like I do..." "By plenty of chances, you don't mean fighting though..." Cracking to eggs in the pan, the loud sizzle filled the silence between them. Sasuke knew that Naruto had always avoided and never wanted to ask what he went through with Orochimaru. He thought it was because Naruto didn't want upset him, but it was really because Naruto, himself, was hurt by any idea of it. Pressing his thin lips together, Sasuke quietly took out the rest of the food and supplies. He didn't want to talk about that now. Not in front of the kids. "Dinner will be done in a bit. You can go." A cord of worthlessness vibrated in Sasuke's chest. Feeling exasperated and guilty, he tried to touch the wide shoulder of tha back that was turned to him. Coldly, it pulled away. "I'll be fine." Turning to force a smile, Naruto looked onto Sasuke. "We can talk after they eat and go to bed, kay?" The would-be sigh was forced through narrow nostrils. It caused Sasuke's round tipped nose to flair. "Alright." Turning, he went to go back to the family set up, taking a seat abruptly in the middle of younglings. There was a burst of giggles and laughs as the twins were nearly sat down on. Both seemed to be more relaxed, crawling to Sasuke's sides for snuggling. With the man's arms around each of them, their large eyes stayed glued to the television. "What the heck are you guys watching?" "Seven Rainbow Shinobi!" The answer was in unison. On screen were indeed seven, rainbow-clad Shinobi, fighting off some evil monkey-like wizard. The sight of Sasuke huddled with kids was enough to get Naruto's mood to change, even though he knew he was going to have a conversation with Sasuke that he had been avoiding for years. Filling deep paper bowls with steaming browned rice mixed with vegetables and friend egg, he topped the hot mounds off with plastic spoons. They went on a tray, paired with paper cups of hot green tea for the adults, and grape juice for the kids. "Alright, Dinner. Go wash your hands!" Sasuke smiled to Naruto, who seemed to improve and took the kids under each arm to the bathroom. "Come on, you dust bunnies." He had nicknamed them already. Coming back with cleaner hands and faces, they sat around the table as if a real family. Sasuke was happy to eat and sipped his tea, his eyes actually moving to watch the ridiculous show. He remembered this. This was out when he was a kid, so it must be a late night rerun. Eyes behind spectacles scanned the kids, who ate happily. Even Naruto had his eyes on the TV, a spoon hanging from his mouth like a child would. "This is good!", Kana chirped, rice all over her face. Her brother simply nodded, a mustache of grape juice on his upper lip. Sasuke noticed that she wasn't eating her tomatoes, and promptly fussed. They went back and forth about what was yucky or not, but Sasuke won the argument with. "Nothing Naruto makes taste bad. Just try it." Hesitantly, she put on in her mouth, smiling soon after. Shino had well cleaned his bowl, making the older blond get up to get the pan. He made sure everyone got a second helping before plopping back down where he was. It was obvious the kids weren't well fed, but had appetites for days. Getting up again, Naruto took all of the disposable dishware to be thrown away, coming back with four different toothbrushes and a fresh tube of toothpaste. "Alright, bed time." Kana groaned, but Shino yawned happily. "Sissy, I'm sleepy..." He had a hold on her arm, already leaning over. "Oh fine! We'll take you..." There was an interruption as the girl child also yawned. "You to bed..." Naruto moved to pick them both up, the little clingers curling up on the wide, warm chest. "Brush your teeth first. Sasuke, could you go make up a bed for them?" Sasuke gave a nod, picking to use his own bedroom. The bed was wide enough for two little things, though not wide enough for two grown men. The lovers would have to use the bed in his parent's room. It was a slow struggle for Naruto to get them to brush their teeth, but at least they knew how. After the separate bathroom breaks, he carried them back to Sasuke's room, who was waiting in the hallway outside the door. Sasuke had folded spare sheet to make an extra pillow and watched Naruto tuck them both in together under an old blanket. "Story...." yawned the now sleepy raven-haired girl. She was quite demanding when she was in a good mood. "Story? Um. Alright. I got one." Pulling up the small chair that Sasuke used once for his desk, the large blond straddled it . "Once upon a time, there was a fox and a cat. They were both really lonely, having no friends or parents. The fox lived in the woods, outside of a busy town, but couldn't make friends with other animals. The cat lived in the big city, but every time he was going to get petted, he would hiss and run away." "Why did he run away?" Shino asked, rubbing his large eyes. "If he was lonely, he should of stayed..." "Well you see, he was scared of getting hurt. He thought humans pulled tails and hurt cats like him. So he thought, he would be tough and mean, and humans would be scared of him. And the fox, the fox really tried to make friends, but all the forest animals thought the fox was little and weak. They made fun of him." "Aw! Poor kitty!" Kana pouted, protesting. "I would of been friends! I like foxes and cats!" Laughing, Naruto petted the top of her head. "I bet you do. Anyway, the cat finally had enough and ran away to the forest, but he was a city creature. When he got to the woods, he was lost and scared. The fox saw the cat and tried to help. But the cat, who had been so mean and tough to humans, even acted that way to him. He also thought the fox as little and weak." Sasuke came from around the corner, a slight smile on his face. Putting his hand on Naruto's shoulder, he laughed. "That's right. The cat thought the fox was little and weak, so he tried to act all big and tough to bully him. But alone in the woods, he didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to get food, where to sleep, and he would get into a lot of fights with bigger animals." "Did he win?" Kana asked, looking to Sasuke. Thinking for a minute, Sasuke shrugged. "Hm...Sometimes. But he was also badly hurt and every time he got into a fight, the fox would help him. Most of the time, the fox was in the way, but one day, a giant snake came. Just as the cat was about to be hurt, the fox jumped in and saved him. The cat stopped to ask, why? Why would you save me? Do you know what the fox said?" Shino raised his hand, waving it first. "I do! I do!" Smiling, Naruto pointed to him. "Why?" "Because they were friends!" Sasuke smiled and nodded, patting the reddish-yellow hair. "That's right. The fox said, 'Even though you're mean sometimes, you always eat the food I give you. We share a den and lick each other's wounds. Fighting with you made me stronger! You're my best friend in the world. The cat knew in his heart it was true." "Did they beat up the snake?" Naruto smiled and winked. "Yep. Beat it up and it slithered away, never to be seen from again." The pair in the bed smiled at the happy ending, cuddling up in little bundles. Tucking them in, Naruto affectionately ruffled up their hair before moving away. Sasuke had lit a small lantern to form a night light that softly glowed after Naruto turned out the overhead light switch. Following his lover out out, Sasuke softly closed the door behind himself. "...Naruto. " He hesitantly spoke up, but Naruto kept walking, heading to the larger bedroom of Sasuke's deceased parents. A frown came to Sasuke's face as he followed, being second to get inside the room and shut the door. "Are you ignoring me now?" Unzipping his jacket, Naruto shook his head. "I'm not." He tossed it on top of the made bed, a pile of dust coming up from impact. Coughing, Sasuke fanned the cloud and picked the jacket up. After tossing it on the floor, Sasuke grabbed and shook out the sheets much like he did with his own bed. Naruto continued to get undressed, eyeing the trinkets and books left in the room. There was a large vanity mirror, stationed on top of a wide decorated dresser. On top of the wood were a row of assorted vanity items, included a pearl handled brush, matching comb, trimming scissors, and straight razor. Looking to Sasuke, thoughts on how he must of kept this room as it was before his parents died lingered in the back of Naruto's mind. As Sasuke remade the bed, he saw Naruto's undressing had slowed down as the blue eyes were gazing at his parent's belongings. Walking up to the dresser, Sasuke blew , then wiped dust up with his sleeve from the mirror and the dresser. Pulling off the mesh t-shirt, Naruto stood topless in his black and white pants. Sighing deeply, he went to sit on the bed heavily. "Should I even ask or are you just going to start talking?" Sasuke sighed as well, moving to sit next to him. "Whatever you're thinking is true to a degree. Orochimaru did have his way with me. It wasn't just that, I was tortured regularly. It was nearly unbearable, at first. But.." Every instinct that Naruto had wanted to scream at Sasuke. Something like, How could you? Or Did you want him too? Instead, he bit his bottom lip and looked away. "I figured as much." Grey eyes looked over at Naruto's turned head. With a sigh, Sasuke leaned his body weight onto his lover. "It's not like I liked it. He was conditioning my body for him to take it over. He wanted me to be physically something he could fight inside. Nothing more than a suit." "I suppose you think that makes it better..." Naruto turned his back, leaning with forearms onto the knees. Sasuke continued to lean and look. "No. It doesn't. But it is what it is." "Assuming that Orochimaru did keep what he collected. Why would he make a little girl? Do you think he was trying to make another body or just harvest her eyes? Who even knows if it was him or not." He turned around, putting an arm around Sasuke to pull them both onto their backs. "And what about Shino? Why would, I mean. What do I have to do with this? Did he want to make another host for the Nine Tails?" Turning, Sasuke moved to straddle and shrug. "It makes sense. He was going to come after you eventually. Course, it could be something Madara...or Kabuto.. It's all too convenient. Kana said they were led here by someone she called a Forest Fairy. But there wouldn't be a point if that someone didn't know we'd be here. We were meant to find them. This isn't just something that just happened." Hands went to Sasuke's hips as Naruto shifted his weight. "I know, I know. But I don't think Sai did that on purpose. Sai might of told us to come here, but Sai's helpful information comes from overhearing. Remember his house warming gift? It was a mix of a spice rack and a sex store. He had asked people what makes good presents and got us some of everything..." Laughing, Sasuke moved to sit on his knees next to the laying man. "Sai isn't going to do anything to hurt you. No, it was definitely someone looking to set us up. For what? I have no idea..."While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
