“Good.” Kurenai said as she looked towards the room where Hikaru and Michiru were grieving the loss of Kakeru, who sadly passed away just moments ago. “We’ll return the favor.”

“A genjutsu user, a tough guy and a guy who can turn things to stone.” Kiba summed up after hearing the blonde’s report. “Stone guy must’ve been the one who-“ he stopped when he heard Akamaru bark softly. Kiba turned and it seemed that the dog was warning them that Hikaru was coming towards them. “Are you ok, Prince Hikaru?”
Hikaru smiled sadly, “The knights have prepared my grandfather's body for burial and he will be buried in his kingdom … can you get us back to the castle?” Hikaru asked, hoping this will end soon. “Also … do you know who exactly killed my grandfather?”
While everyone else hesitated, Naruto didn’t, “Yes. I’ll handle him personally-“
“I’m not sure that’s a great idea.” Shino commented as he subtly adjusted his sunglasses.
Naruto shrugged, “My clones are perfect for dealing with a guy that turns people to stone. Kiba and Akamaru would probably be best at taking out the genjutsu user. As for that muscle guy he wouldn’t stand a chance against you and Kurenai, but that’s just how I see it. If you guys think I’m wrong just say so.”
“He has a point.” Kiba said as he considered the facts, but he flinched when he thought he saw Shino glare at him. “What do you think, Shino?” He asked nervously though he noticed that Akamaru looked amused about this. Why? Shino is being scary and that’s not funny!
“We’ll figure it out.” Naruto chuckled sheepishly knowing full well that Shino was just worried.
Kurenai smiled before turning to Hikaru, “With a team of ninjas on his side it won’t take Shabadaba long to find this place so we’re going to attack before he hires more people and they come for you and the king. Everything is going to happen very quickly because they will be expecting you to try and take back the throne. As we’re handling the ninjas the knights will be getting you safely into the castle.”
“That sounds like a plan. We’ll arrest Shabadaba once you remove his protection.” The leader of the lights said as he came up to the ninjas.
Shino sighed,,”My insects will locate the enemies’ exact positions as we head over.” He said not even being subtle about looking at Naruto.
It was the worry on the insect user’s face that caught Hikaru’s attention., but he put it in the back of his mind for now. The prince joined his father and the knights and they headed to the castle. For the sake of speed and safety, Kakeru’s body, which was in a gorgeous coffin, was placed on the ship and the ship will slowly head towards the castle by water.

Shabadaba smirked as he lounged on the throne, “I wonder when they’ll try to return?”
“We’ll be ready when they try.” The smug ninja standing close to Shabadaba said.
After about an hour of Shabadaba terrorizing the castle staff the female ninja suddenly looked out the window and smirked, “We have company.” She said to her teammates when she saw a rush of birds fly out of the trees along the back castle gates.
The smug leader and the burly ninja glanced out the window to see four shadows zip over the back wall, “That’s probably Michiru’s ninjas. Be careful of the one that makes clones.” The leader warned though the smug smile remained in place.
“Got it! We can handle it.” The burly ninja exclaimed with a cruel grin and he walked out of the room with his female teammate to greet the guests.
With a careless snort the smug ninja moved closer to his client, “Things might get a bit shaky, but this will be done quickly.”
Shabadaba looked away from the servants he was bossing around and noticed two of his ninjas have left the room, “Good. I’ll enjoy this.” His eyes narrowed at a few of the servants that looked suddenly very worried and it was no doubt because they were loyal to Michiru, but it didn’t matter anymore. “Keep going!” He said, barely caring about the tremors shaking the castle. After all, it was just his ninjas removing the intruders.
The poor members of the castle staff winced when the ninja took a threatening step towards them. Without any choice in the matter they reluctantly continued the orders they were given. It was heartbreaking, but if they didn’t remove all the paintings and evidence of the royal family they loved then they would be killed.
“Pile up all the portraits on the balcony.” Shabadaba ordered and a cruel smile formed on his lips as a mountain of beautiful paintings formed on the balcony. “Light them.”
Several of the servants gasped, “What-“ they all became silent as the ninja glared at them and they tearfully found something to light the pile.
One servant ran out from behind the pile and glared right at Shabadaba, “I refuse! He’s our king, not you-“
Of course, the servant’s objection was cut short when Shabadaba’s ninja appeared in front of the rebellious servant. Before anyone could understand what was going on the ninja reached out to grab the servant that dared to mouth off. Everyone saw that poor servant get grabbed by the wrist and watched in horror …

The knights frowned, “Didn’t your friend’s bugs say that Shabadaba and his ninjas were in the throne room? If that’s the case then you might be spotted if you go over the back gate since there’s a large series of windows around. One in particular has a view of the back gate.” One knight pointed out as his fellow knights helped the king and prince into the small side gate.
“That’s what we’re hoping for actually.” Naruto said with a grin. “We’ll try to separate the ninjas and take them out. You guys just need to stay out of the way.”
Kurenai nodded, “We’ll do everything we can to minimize the damage to the castle and make sure no one is hurt. Now go ahead.” She said and watched as the knights escorted the king and prince through the small hidden gate. “Let’s see what happens.”
Team 8 and Naruto raced to the back gate while knocking a few trees hard enough to send some startled birds into the sky and jumped over the wall. They pressed their backs to the wall to stay out of sight from anyone who may be watching from the tower. Almost immediately a few insects fluttered all the way down from under the balcony hanging off the throne.
Those insects crawled onto Shino’s hand and gave their report, “They saw us … the genjutsu user and muscle guy are coming down to meet us and the leader is staying with Shabadaba.”
Naruto nodded, “I’ll go up to the balcony. You guys be careful.” He said as he made a clone to go with them before rushing up the wall towards the high tower where the throne room was.
“We should hurry.” Shino said trying to hide his concern for the blonde, but someone very observant did notice. In fact, it was Akamaru who noticed and nuzzled the insect user’s hand comfortingly. “Thanks, Akamaru.” He said as he followed his teammates and one clone to the door leading into the castle.
Kiba pouted dramatically as they opened the door and walked in, “Hey! Where’s my nuzzle?” Akamaru growled softly as if to tell him to be quiet as they walked through the halls. “Meanie.”
In an instant the team fell silent. With each step they took they knew they got closer to being attached. Sure enough, once they were about to reach a staircase an explosion shook the room and they were forced to dodge large chunks of the ceiling. Along with the chunks of solid concrete a large muscled guy landed on the stairs.
“Go!” Kurenai yelled as she stepped out of the way when the burly ninja.charged at her and destroyed a wall right behind her.
Kiba, Akamaru and the Naruto clone immediately jumped onto the stairs. They rushed up the steps despite the shaking from the muscled burly ninja trying to kill Kurenai and Shino. However, the second they got to the next very dark room on the floor above they were forced to jump out of the way to avoid being impaled by several needles.
The female ninja almost melted out of the darkness and stood in front of them, “Now how did you two-“ she glanced down the stairs and saw her partner attacking a random wall as insects quickly covered him. “Oh, I see. Another genjutsu user. That won’t help you for long.” She chuckled ominously as she dissolved into the surrounding darkness.
“Akamaru!” Kiba yelled and his canine companion moved right up to his side. “Don’t be surprised if you don’t make it.” Kiba said teasingly at the clone.
“Not my job.” The clone said with a shrug as Akamaru turned into another Kiba.
The clone smirked as the two dog ninjas started spinning at a very fast pace resulting in two tornadoes. With the woman’s scent guiding the way the two ninja tornadoes bounced into the air and ricocheted around the room. It didn’t take long to slam against the female ninja. The tornadoes continued attacking until she was completely unconscious. Once they were sure she was not getting back up the tornadoes stopped and Akamaru changed back into his fabulous fluffy form.
“Everything is clear here!” Kurenai said as she came up the steps with Shino who was wiping blood off a kunai.
Kiba saw the Naruto clone disaster in a puff of smoke and shrugged, “We’re good here.” He said and used a kunai to slash the female enemy’s throat just to make sure they won’t be a problem.

Naruto stuck himself to the underside of the balcony and waited for the right moment to emerge from his hiding place. If he wasn’t careful one of the innocent members of the castle staff could be held hostage. Thankfully, Shabadaba ordered the staff to pile up the portraits and the place that was chosen was the balcony. The second the pile grew tall enough Naruto climbed up and hid behind the pile.
“Light them.” Shabadaba ordered the staff.
The staff rightfully looked horrified and distraught, “What-“
When the objections were cut off Naruto knew that the staff members were scared by the ninja with Shabadaba. His eyes narrowed and he created a sleeve of crystals on both his arms. While timing it with the slight tremors from Kiba’s fight Naruto henged into a person wearing the same uniform of the castle’s staff.
The disguised blonde ran out from behind the pile and glared at Shabadaba, “I refuse! He’s our king, not you-“
As Naruto expected, the smug ninja appeared in front of him and grabbed his wrist. Instead of making an example of an innocent civilian by turning him into stone in front of the terrified servants, Naruto made a hand sign with his free hand. Just as it started to dawn on the smug ninja that the ‘servant’ in his grasp wasn’t turning to stone, Naruto cast his own jutsu.
“Crystal Guillotine.” Naruto said while still under the henge of a servant and in an instant everything changed.
Everyone, besides Shabadaba’s ninja, watched in a stunned silence when they saw a pink crystal blade slice straight through the back of the smug ninja’s neck. The smug smile disappeared as the head rolled off the bloody blade. As the crystal blade shrank back down the body fell to the floor and Naruto removed the henge.
Yes, a crystal was affected by the jutsu. No, the crystal that landed the death blow wasn’t from the crystal armor that protected his body from being turned to stone. In fact, the crystal Naruto used was shrinking back to its usual form, which was the now bloody gem Shabadaba had hanging around his neck.
“Go ahead. Try to move.” Naruto said very seriously to Shabadaba, who was understandably terrified since he realized he was wearing a potentially deadly crystal. “I do believe King Michiru wants a word with you.” He commented as he canceled the crystals that coated his arms.
Shabadaba was too scared to turn, but his hope rose when he heard people coming into the room, “Help me!” He pleaded thinking that the people entering the room were his other two ninjas.
“Nah, we’re good.” Shabadaba visibly stiffened when he heard a voice that wasn’t from one of his ninjas. While trying to not disturb the menacing gem around his neck Shabadaba craned his neck to see that Kiba spoke. “You don’t mess around. Do you, Naruto?” Kiba when he saw the dead headless ninja on the floor. “The others are removing the bodies. I was supposed to help back you up, but …” He snorted in amusement since he wasn’t needed here.
“Your majesty!” Kiba casually glanced behind him when he heard the staff cheer excitedly and he saw King Michiru with Prince Hikaru surrounded by the knights. Of course, Kiba stepped out of the way and joined Naruto.
Michiru deliberately avoided looking at the headless body and smiled sadly at the Konoha ninjas, “Thank you for everything you have done.” He said gratefully, but then looked at Shabadaba. “That gem that came with my letter isn’t a normal gem.” He remarked, but he had no clue exactly how right that statement was. “I heard what you said about killing me and taking my son … for everything you did, especially killing my father, you will be arrested and executed.” He ordered and the knights tied Shabadaba up.
Over the next couple days Konoha ninjas stayed in the kingdom. After the execution, the burial of the king’s father and the repairs the ninjas prepared to board the ship to go home. However, Naruto was lagging a little behind.
“Huh? What’s he doing?” Kiba pondered when he looked over the rail of the ship and saw Naruto on the dock.
Shino adjusted his sunglasses as he watched Naruto hug the prince, “That’s a very good question.” He muttered and only Akamaru seemed to sense the hostility oozing from those words.
Naruto ran up the ramp and onto the ship to join team 8, “Sorry, guys. The prince needed a charger for those chakra powered toys he bought before. I put my chakra in a scroll so he could use it as a battery.” He muttered to the other ninjas as the ramp was removed and the ship set sail. .
While Kurenai and Kiba seemed amused by that as they waved goodbye. However, Naruto and Akamaru noticed a rather scary energy being exchanged between Shino and Hikaru’s eyes. Despite the height and increasing distance between the dock and ship it still felt like an unspoken and threatening message was being communicated.
Hikaru just seemed to smirked from his spot on the dock and cupped his hands to his mouth, “I’ll come and visit sometime soon! Bye, Naruto!”
Naruto smiled sheepishly as he waved, “Yeah.” He mumbled. Both Naruto and Akamaru gulped fearfully as Shino’s annoyed glare focused on Naruto.
“It’ll be a close call, but if we hurry we can get back before the chunin exams.” Kurenai said once the dock disappeared in the distance.
“Yes, I bet my boyfriend and Hinata will be happy to see us.” Naruto commented trying to calm Shino down, but he noticed a slight awkward feeling in the air between the members of team 8. It was a reminder that something else was going on here and now he had to figure that out …
Unfortunately, someone was closer to his secrets than he was to team 8’s …

Hinata nearly cried with happiness when the shadow clone silently appeared before her. It took a lot of work, concentration and weeks thanks to all the doctor visits. She was nearly caught ‘stressing’ her body many times, but finally it’s done. With great care the clone got the list of addresses and she silently snuck out through the window.
One by one the clone started investigating each place on the list hoping to find Naruto’s real home …
