every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces
then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
figures that my COURAGE would choose to sell out now
I’ve been raising up my hands
drive another nail in
just what GOD needs one more victim
every day I crucify myself
nothing I do is good enough for you
and my HEART is sick of being in chains
you’re just an empty cage kid if you kill the bird
please be save me I CRY

Chapter XV There Is No Life Without Disappointment
Kisame knocked on the door of his partner’s bedroom and heard a soft voice giving him permission to enter. A lone light was on and he saw Itachi sitting in a chair, his eyes fixated on a sleeping Neji in the bed. Kisame’s eyebrows shot up as he had learned from experience that Itachi was usually a lot more wayward about letting anyone see his lover in the privacy of their bedroom. But here he was, with Neji lying there and looking deceivingly innocent, curled up in the sheet and his long hair splayed out across the pillow.
“Did you tell him about our mission?” Itachi shook his head, his eyes never straying towards his teammate. “Scared of going back to your former village? I’ll reckon they won’t be throwing you a welcome-back party,” Kisame grinned.
“We need to first make a small detour.” Kisame lifted his eyebrow in question, hearing the undertone of anger in Itachi’s voice, something he hadn’t heard since he and Neji had joined Akatsuki now more than a year ago. “Neji’s uncle... I’ll make him suffer for what he’s done.” Itachi had said it so softly as if he wasn’t even aware that Kisame was still in the room. Deciding it was best to leave the topic alone for the time being, Kisame stood still and silently waited for his partner to get ready. They had a Jinchūriki to catch.
[-]
Kisame pinned the skinned rabbits on a wooden stock and placed them over the fire so they could roast and strengthen their weakened bodies. They had travelled at a brutal place and now they had to pay the price for it. But regardless, they would first need to form a well-strategized plan before making a single move. Even if Itachi had left his village more than a year ago, Kisame was sure it was still fresh in many people’s minds. It would of course make things a hell of a lot more exciting. He grinned, already looking forward to the next few days. He thrived on confrontation and fighting, early on having found the petty rules a shinobi apparently needed to follow too stifling, even in a blood-thirsty village like Kirigakure. All of it was a lie and one he couldn’t agree with.
“Oi, Itachi-san.” Itachi looked away from Konohagakure and frowned at his partner. “The little detour you mentioned, care to give me any more specifics? Consider it a debriefing.” Kisame smirked, not feeling the least bit threatened by the spinning Sharingan. Life had hardened him too much to fear excruciating pain. All pain eventually fades after all.
“It’s not necessary.”
Kisame chuckled. “You’re going to jeopardize the entire mission if you insist on settling some personal business first without informing me. Emotions tend to overrule all caution.” Itachi had to give the man credit for not being the least bit deterred by his initial refusal and also for reading him so easily. Perhaps he had let more of his anger slip than he thought.
“Hyūga Hiashi... He used that wretched curse-seal for his own sadistic pleasure. It almost meant the death of Neji. That is why he needs to feel the exact pain he put Neji through for all those years.”
Kisame had to admit that such a reason was something he could hardly imagine. But then it clicked. The enormous risk Neji took with following Itachi to Akatsuki was done out of a feeble hope that he could escape that abuse and be able to have a future together with his lover, away from both their manipulative families. Looks like the little bastard had a romantic streak after all. It had taken quite a bit to get used to his new partner, finding him increasingly cold and distant, only around Neji letting a glimpse of even a single bit of personality slip through. Only in that first week when Neji refused to wake up, he had seen him angry. But ever since then, it was monosyllabic replies and very short sentences. Luckily, Neji and Deidara’s more lively team still lifted the broody atmosphere at the meetings. But Itachi was a worthy adversary and an annoyingly good partner. Their team-dynamics were already legendary in this short year since the beginning of their partnership, in part because the two members who it contained had already been infamous beforehand. Many had suffered at the hands of this new legend and many more would, if the gods were willing.
“When do you want to pay him a little visit?” he said, in not so many words conveying that he would help Itachi in this act of pure revenge.
“Tomorrow night.” Itachi turned back to Konohagakure and his eyes fixated on the Hyūga-compound. Regardless what Neji would have to say about his plan, this was something he had intended on doing a long time ago and no one would be able to sway him towards thinking differently.
[-]
Kisame grinned as they swiftly moved through Konoha without having raised any alarms. He wouldn’t have minded some fighting but first things first. Itachi could have his payback and then they would capture the Jinchūriki, if all things went well in a single night. It certainly worked in their advantage that Itachi knew every single weak spot in Konoha’s defense. You would think that after two members defected and a small group of powerful enemies were targeting one of its inhabitants, they would have heightened security. All these villages were all the same, proudful and thinking themselves above harm, right up until the moment war stood at their doorstep. They approached the Hyūga-compound and they stood still, perched on top of a roof and having a clear view of their destination.
“You know what to do if they raise alarm,” Itachi said, his tone unforgiving as if he were already talking to Hyūga Hiashi. Waving the command off, Kisame nodded, taking a position where he had a perfect overview of the surrounding area, ready to spot any who would be stupid enough to cross his path.
“Have fun,” Kisame chuckled. Itachi didn’t spare him a second glance as he smoothly and softly landed on the roof of the Hyūga’s main-house. Years ago already, he had memorized Hiashi’s chakra-signature and it had been ingrained in his memory since then. Step by step, his feet brought him closer, even in a compound of shinobi remaining undetected. He approached the man’s bedroomuntil he was standing right above him, only a layer of wood separating them. Dropping down to the ground, he slid open the door and crept forward. In three quick steps, he had his hand tightly wound around Hiashi’s neck and forced him upright. Itachi closed the distance between him and Hiashi, his Sharingan spinning madly and forming a three-pointed tomoe.
“I will make you pay over and over again for what you did to Neji. In this life and the next,” Itachi hissed in an unusually angered voice. Fuming white eyes stared back at him, Hiashi milliseconds away from a countermove but Itachi’s Mangekyō had already been spinning and the entire world around the two men disappeared before being replaced with one solely coloured in black and red. Hiashi’s mouth tightened, this Kekkei Genkai of his eternal rivals being used against him. Futilely, he tugged at the bindings around his wrists and ankles, his hands trying to form seals but it was useless.
“Did my nephew plan this? If he is willing to betray his own village, then clearly his own family too.” He spat out the words, this weakness, this unwilling subordination to that wretched Uchiha making rage crawl under his skin, his hands aching to attack. “Too weak to do it himself, that dirty bitch.” Hiashi shakily breathed in as a kunai punctured his gut, Itachi pushing it in as far as it would go.
“Do you mistake me for a blind man? Do you think I didn’t see what you did to Neji?” Itachi twisted the kunai, making Hiashi cry out in sheer pain.
“The last four days of your life, you will spend here.” A second kunai appeared and he skilfully planted it straight through Hiashi’s heart. “I decide when you die but until then, I am your personal hell.” For the first time, he saw Hiashi looking up at him fearfully but Itachi hatefully stared back. The kunai came faster and Hiashi couldn’t possibly contain the screams for it hurt so much. What was being done to him was ruthless and agonizing and it hurt so much. His mind was trying to wrap around the pain but it was given no chance as attack after attack kept coming. He lifted his head to stare at his body, his mouth trembling as a kunai was pulled out and skin painfully stretched over the wound only to have it pierced again. He breathed in and shouted in desperation, not willing to believe that this was happening to him. Was this his fate, doomed to die in a pitiful hell and killed by the hands of his nephew’s lover? The defecter, the traitor!
“Damn you and damn Neji. You will both rot in hell when your pathetic lives come to an end.” Hiashi grinned, every muscle in his body trembling, the uplifted corners of his mouth forming a bloodied grimace.
“Our conscience is clearer than yours.” Itachi plunged a kunai, piercing the flesh between his ribs, neither caring nor wincing at the bellowing scream of utmost pain. “Actions have consequences. I regret it took me this long to teach you such a lesson. Shall I summon Sakegari no Tachi? Shall I sentence you to an eternity of which there is no escape?”
Hiashi jerkily moved his head, a fear so alive consuming his heart and mind. It is impossible...
“You are too weak. I shall leave you now. Neji sends his regards.” A blatant lie but Hiashi certainly believed it, once more struggling against the bindings keeping him rigid as kunai, floating in the air approached ever closer, steered by an invisible hand and unceasing in their attack. Itachi left the illusion, keeping Neji’s uncle trapped until he would die from the strains placed on mind and body. A fitting end for a cruel man.
Itachi rubbed his eyes, trying to get rid of the dull ache. He left a pitifully crying Hiashi and hastily moved away, back to where Kisame was waiting for him. They would take advantage of the chaos his attack on Hyūga Hiashi would undoubtedly cause to capture Uzumaki Naruto. Kyūbi. As he went towards the edge of the village, he already saw lights going on in the Hyūga-compound. A matter of minutes until their next attack. Kisame nodded in recognition as he approached and they waited in a back-alley, connected to the Jinchūriki’s apartment.
“How did it go?” Kisame asked light-heartedly as he kept his eyes on the many ANBU moving towards the Hyūga-compound.
“Exactly as I had foreseen. Let’s go.” Itachi moved towards Naruto’s apartment and wanted to open the door but his hand stilled around the knob. “He’s not here.” Kisame cursed and yanked the door open, indeed confirming that there was no one inside. He looked at Itachi, waiting for instructions.
Itachi’s eyes focused on the window, his entire being alerting him for approaching danger. After what he had done in the Hyūga-compound; leaving a screaming Hiashi for everyone to hear, it was inevitable that immediately the village would be alarmed and informed of his presence. But they had counted on this small, self-created window of time to capture Uzumaki Naruto, taking advantage of the erupted chaos. Now their chances were decreasing with each passing second. To find Naruto, to form a new plan, to escape Konohagakure unnoticed. He had miscalculated gravely, doing exactly what Kisame had warned him off, his partner not saying a single word about it, for which he was thankful. He raced for the exit, hearing Kisame’s footsteps close behind him and went back into the alley. Determined to leave without a fight, Itachi led Kisame through narrow streets, each step bringing them closer towards the walls that surrounded his former village.
“Uchiha Itachi. Didn’t expect to see you here again.” Itachi stopped and looked across the small canal to find Hatake Kakashi staring at him, his visible eye narrowed. The Copy-Ninja, the holder of Sharingan despite not being an Uchiha.
“I had some... unfinished business,” Itachi said.
“Never knew you’d be the type to involve emotional affairs in your work. Because Hyūga Hiashi isn’t the sole reason for coming here, is he? Akatsuki wants Naruto.”
Kisame sensed other nin approaching and while their chakra-levels weren’t particularly exceptional, he still counted about ten. He retrieved his Samehada and easily pointed the bandaged sword towards their enemy but all their gazes turned to the newly arriving shinobi.
“Aniki!” Sasuke’s voice was a mixture of sheer joy and fuming rage. “You came back.”
Kakashi appeared next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder but it was roughly slapped away. “Sasuke, go back,” he said, despite knowing that his former student wouldn’t listen.
“But can’t you see!? He came back. Itachi came back!”
Itachi found it unfathomable that even after what he had done, his brother still believed that he was actually here to re-join Konoha’s ranks.
“Foolish otouto.” Itachi said coldly. The anger he had felt during his confrontation with Hiashi hadn’t completely dissipated, he now realised. What did he need to do to prove to the world, no, to Sasuke that he had left on his own accord, that it was his suggestion to join Akatsuki? He swiftly moved his hand to deflect the kunai being flung at him and narrowed his eyes at the ANBU who did a poor job at hiding himself away. This whole situation was becoming far too niggling. Perhaps he had underestimated the impact of returning to his former village. He should have known Sasuke would appear the moment he heard of his sighting, that ANBU Core would crave to settle their feelings of personal betrayal, that so many people would be after his blood.
“Well, Itachi. It seems you’ve become quite popular.” Kisame unwrapped his Samehada, knowing things would only become increasingly difficult from here on out.
“No! Itachi, come to your senses! This is your village with your family and people who care about you.” Itachi gritted his teeth at Sasuke’s words, his anger now coursing through him once more. “I understand, okay? Neji used you to get rid of his curse-seal and forced you to join Akatsuki. People will understand if you come back.” Itachi had to close his eyes briefly as he heard Sasuke once more attacking Neji, attacking the one thing he valued above anything else.
Kisame suddenly burst out in laughter. “Neji using Itachi? I think it’s more the other way around. You didn’t tell me your little brother had such a sense of humour.”
“Shut up!” Sasuke shouted and turned back to Itachi, all anger disappeared as he saw his beloved brother standing motionless. “Aniki, please.”
“Begging, Sasuke? How pathetic... Stop being a disappointment and see things for what they are.” He flicked his finger and Kisame nodded, both shinobi jumping from their spot and racing towards their closest enemy, attacking them forcefully and moving on to the next one.
In just a few seconds, absolute chaos erupted and Itachi and Kisame quickly used it to their advantage, sweeping in for the kill. And then, the attacks ceased, Itachi and Kisame hearing shouts that the shinobi needed to pull back.
“Let’s go, Itachi,” Kisame said. They took off, every shinobi of Konoha letting them pass although most were just itching to attack. But Itachi knew why they had been commanded to retreat. Even after a year, Konoha hadn’t forgotten just how powerful they had made him, everything he could do. To put its shinobi in such an unprepared fight would be pure idiocy. They needed to find weaknesses first, both in him and Kisame and also in the rest of Akatsuki. And weaknesses they had but far less than the average shinobi, something they would soon discover the moment they started looking.
Having safely reached the forest surrounding Konoha, Kisame started loudly laughing once more as he recalled just what had happened but his laughter halted as he noticed a chakra-signature moving at high speed towards them. He opened his mouth to warn Itachi but his partner was already staring at the approaching person.
“Sasuke...”
“What do we do?” Kisame grumbled. While Itachi’s brother had been amusing at first, now he was becoming a pain.
“I’ll deal with him.” It was clear that Itachi wanted to handle this alone but Kisame was reluctant to leave him, lest more Konoha shinobi would follow the youngest Uchiha’s trail.
“I’ll be waiting nearby,” he said, leaving no room for arguments before disappearing into the trees’ foliage. Only seconds later, Sasuke entered the clearing where his brother was already expecting him, still and emotionless.
“How could you!? Why did you just leave like that?”
Itachi shook his head. “You will never understand, Sasuke.” Sasuke groaned out in exasperation.
“No, you need to understand me. You need to understand that you’ve been lied to. Neji has always been talking about wanting freedom, about getting rid of his seal. Why are you being so blind to everything around you?” Sasuke begged and pleaded. Before he could even think about saying another word, he was slammed into a tree and had a hand wrapped around his neck.
“Open your eyes, Sasuke.” Sasuke shook his head, fearing what his brother would do but the hand around his neck only pressed further and he had no other choice but to open them. He uselessly kicked his legs but Itachi didn’t even flinch. “Remember what I said, otouto. Next time you attacked Hyūga Neji, I would force you to look into my eyes.” Sasuke moaned in pain, his jaws clenched tightly together. Suddenly the hand around his neck loosened and he fell down on the ground, landing on his hands and knees and gasping for breath. Embarrassed, he realised his abilities were still so weak, his reactions so slow when compared to his brother’s. “But not this time.” Itachi flicked his brother’s forehead with his index-finger, just like he had done many times before and jumped into a tree, ready to journey back to Akatsuki’s lair.
“Why didn’t you kill him? Such an annoying brat...” Kisame asked as he met up with his partner. Itachi ignored the question and kept looking straight ahead of him. Sighing, Kisame followed him without another word.

Hinata covered her ears, unable to stand the sounds of her father’s cries anymore and for once forgot all her embarrassment and buried her head against Naruto’s chest.
“Why isn’t it stopping? It’s been almost four days,” she cried.
“They’re doing everything they can for him, Hinata.” Naruto anxiously looked around him, to the ANBU stationed in and around Hyūga Hiashi’s hospital-room. It was unlikely that Uchiha Itachi would return but they weren’t taking any chances. He covered his eyes with his hand and sighed, clenching his arm around Hinata’s shoulders. Now he understood why Tsunade was sometimes so tired, despite his accusations that all she did was paperwork. In a few days time, he would officially be inaugurated as the new Hokage, the Rokudaime of Konohagakure and lately, it had changed from something he enjoyed doing to a burden. The threat of Akatsuki was growing larger with each passing day. Eight people slowly forcing the rest of the world to their knees.
Footsteps approached and he felt relieved as he saw Kiba and Shikamaru walking towards them. Hinata immediately ran into Kiba’s awaiting arms and was taken outside. It wouldn’t do her any good to hear her father in so much pain any longer.
“Hanabi-kun, come with us.” The gentle command Kiba gave his sister-in-law who sat down, hands clenched around her knees and her pallour white as a sheet was silently obeyed, all her usual vigour swept away. She hadn’t said a word since finding out what had happened to her father. What could she say? All of them were lost for words at this blatant and cruel act of revenge.
“Shikamaru, do you think Neji...” Naruto found it impossible to finish his sentence since Neji’s betrayal had left a gaping wound in his heart and it was healing poorly. This tore it open once more. But it was hard to miss Shikamaru tightening his jaw and his eyes narrowing.
“Do I think Neji put Itachi up to this? After everything he’s done, I wouldn’t put it past him.”
Naruto leaned his arms on his knees and groaned in frustration. “Akatsuki needs to be stopped. They’re only getting more powerful.”
“They’re still human. They can be defeated as we’ve already shown thrice.” Shikamaru stilled as Hiashi screamed out, a sound that can only be produced when in the utmost terror.
“You remember that day news got out about their defection? I found you on top of that old look-out tower. What went on in those families? I need to know, Shikamaru.”
Hiashi abused Neji, for years and years, making him feel worthless and miserable. And Itachi rectified that and proved him that he was stronger than he could have ever imagined. Provided him a safe-haven, an escape and much more. The price they paid was betrayal in every sense of the word. They lay on the tip of his tongue but he couldn’t possibly relay them to Naruto.
“I have to go,” he whispered.
“Damnit, Shikamaru. Stop walking away and tell me! I need to know!” Naruto shouted after him although the last part was overpowered by yet another of Hiashi’s cries. Still not knowing anything more, Naruto stomped a hole into the wall and yelled in frustration.
An alarm went off, a red light flashing above Hiashi’s door and Naruto stormed inside, seeing Hiashi twitch on the bed, his face contorted in a grimace. The heart-monitor showed his raging pulse which was going much too fast but then Tsunade waltzed in, immediately going to Hiashi’s side.
“Wh-what’s going on!?”
“He’s going into cardiac arrest. Shizune, get over here!” Naruto watched as they tried to resuscitate him , giving his heart electric shock after electric shock, hoping that it would revive Hiashi and bring him back to them. Tsunade’s curses grew louder and the tension in the room rose and became unbearable as time wore on. After forty minutes, Shizune wrapped a hand around her master’s shoulder.
“You’ve done all you could.” Tsunade stilled her movements but didn’t turn to face the others in the room, none of them daring to say another word. She took the paddles from the clan-leader’s chest, trying to ignore the grimace of pain which would be forever etched on his mouth as his soul passed to eternity.
“Damn that Uchiha. Damn them all.” Naruto, despite being accused of being rather slow in understanding many times, immediately knew who was meant with “them”. As much as it pained him to know that in a few day’s time, he would be solely responsible for sending teams to hunt Akatsuki’s members down, including his best friend’s brother and one of his own –former? – friends, this had to stop. This terrorization of everything and everyone that got in the way of Akatsuki’s insane plans and schemes had to stop because the sacrifices were piling up and only causing more hurt and fear. He walked out of the room and was glad that no one attempted to talk to him. He was already seen as the actual leader of this village but if people were to come up to him for any assurance that everything would be okay, he would be unable to offer any comfort.
Kyameru, the leader of ANBU, watched their future Hokage leave the hallway and then turned to his second-in-command. “We need to increase security at his inauguration. Make sure Akatsuki doesn’t try anything. And get me the leader of ANBU Core.” His subordinate nodded and disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Kyameru sighed inaudibly. Akatsuki was forcing them with their backs against the wall, hunting them like rats in a cage. But they were just so powerful. Still human and thereby defeatable, as Nara Shikamaru had said but all of Akatsuki’s members had a past that couldn’t possibly be ignored. All somehow having experienced a life that was filled with death and tragedy, inevitably leading to their twisted personalities and visions in life, their ruthlessness towards anything they considered an enemy. If they weren’t such a threat, he would have felt something akin to pity for all of them.
[-]
“Welcome, everyone.” Tsunade’s voice boomed over the gathered mass of people, men, women and children alike. All inhabitants of Konohagakure and looking with hopeful eyes at their new Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto. “I can’t say how proud I am of this little brat right here,” she said informally, despite the occasion. “A loudmouth, stubborn as a mule and having a problem with authority but...” Tsunade turned to the boy she had come to consider as family and smiled genuinely at him before turning back to the crowd. “But clearly having his heart in the right place and determined to keep Konoha and every last one of you safe against any threat. He will keep us united through the good and the bad and make Konohagakure once more the greatest Village in all of the Countries.”
Naruto listened to her words, not used to this amount of praise from her but they made his heart swell and reassure him that this was in fact really happening, despite the ritual with the village-elders a few hours ago, officially instating him as the Rokudaime. After all these years, all the hate he’d had to go through for being the container of Kyūbi, the times he’d had to prove himself over and over again that he was serious about his ambitions and that he wasn’t to be taken lightly, he finally made it. He couldn’t help but smile brightly, despite all recent events. This is the best day of my life!
He looked towards the front of the stage, to see the first precious persons that had entered his life. Sakura, Sasuke, Iruka-sensei, Kakashi-sensei, Chōji, Shikamaru, all his friends. And then further towards everyone else in Konoha, people he had already started considering precious to him years ago. Nothing would keep him from his goal to do everything in his power to protect this from evil.
Tsunade grabbed his shoulder tightly before pulling him into a bone-crushing hug.
“Oi, Tsunade-baachan, I can’t breathe!” he yelled forcefully, making the crowd laugh. He received a firm slap on the back of his head before Tsunade kissed him on the cheek.
“You little brat. I’m so proud of you,” she whispered, clearly trying not to cry. Naruto smiled cheekily before escaping her hug and turning towards Konoha. For a moment, he was awe-struck as the sun shone brightly over the village, his village. It was so beautiful and full of life. It only strengthened his determination to keep it this way. His observant eyes noticed the many ANBU and ANBU Core scattered in the vicinity, all on duty to protect him. It shouldn’t have had to be this way. The world as they knew it, with danger looming from many different sides, needed to change.
“I can’t say how grateful I am for getting the honour of becoming Rokudaime. I promise I will do anything I can to protect each and every one of you. I promise.” These simple words brought a cheer from the entire crowd, many having seen first-hand how their new Hokage had always been able to fight the odds and turn a situation to his advantage. “Let this be a day of joy for everyone!” The entire village soon was enraptured in celebration, the adults toasting to their new Hokage drunkenly and the children running along freely, happy and cheerful.
Naruto had been dragged to a more private location where his closest friends were already sitting, all standing up and bowing at him in respect when he entered.
“Oi, stop that, it’s giving me the creeps,” Naruto laughed. Kakashi chuckled and shook his head.
“You’re going to give the elders a heart-attack one day.”
Hinata came to him and impulsively gave him a hug. Naruto returned it, trying to pour as much comfort in it as he could. Her father’s funeral had been no less than two days ago but already she could stand here and be genuinely happy for him.
“I knew you could do it. I’ve always known.”
“Thanks, Hinata. But congratulations to you as well. I hear you’ve been giving your clan’s elders trouble.” As brand-new Hyūga clan-leader, Hinata had already been pushing her family towards a new era, most importantly abolishing the Bunke’s curse-seal. While it hadn’t been made official yet, it would only be a matter of days before everyone in the Hyūga-clan would be made equal. It was surreal to think that if Hiashi had been killed a year before, Neji would have been freed of his curse-seal, right here in Konoha. But the killer had been Neji’s own lover, immediately changing the entire picture.
“Are you mad at Neji?” Naruto asked softly.
Hinata shrugged in doubt. “I don’t know. But please, go back to your party. It’s a day of joy, remember?” She threw his own words back at him and Naruto smiled.
“Yes, it is.”
He looked around himself, his eyes resting momentarily on every single person there.
Sasuke and Sakura, his old team-mates, the ones who had unwittingly pushed him to go further than even he had thought possible.
Kakashi, who had saved his life more times than he cared to count.
Chōji and Kiba, his first real friends who he had skipped school with so many times to go play with their blunt kunai, pretending to be genin.
Every single one of them had impacted his life, in a large or small scale and he cared for all of them deeply. He would protect them until his death.

Thank you for reading and reviewing.
Review Responses:
Nanaka19: Thank you for being such a loyal reviewer!
The_Widow: This story is partly for satiating my own need for this pairing. Self-indulgence is the way to go. ^_^
qwerty: I don’t have any plans to give Neji a tattoo referring to Itachi, no. But Neji will have to show his infatuation through many, many bouts of uninhibited sex. =P
And Madara has surely become one of my favourite characters.
Nite Nite: Thank you very much. I hope Itachi kicked Hiashi’s ass sufficiently enough to your taste. And I do hope there will be many more people joining the ItaNeji-shrine. We are horribly underrepresented.
Havoi Tellenoi: When I read your review, I was touched by your praise. I am glad there are people who value this story and I hope you’ll bear with me until the end of this story. (Only five chapters left!). Thank you very much!
fairietayle: I am glad my writing-style doesn’t seem awkward and you seem to like it – one of the biggest compliments you can give any author. Thank you very much!
