Deandraquin: Thank you for the compliments. I like my muse most of the time. She has been mean to Itachi though.
Chapter 15 – Operation Get Sasuke
I woke up almost hung over. It felt like there were drugs in my system again, but I couldn’t remember anyone coming in to drug me. I blinked a few more times. Finally my vision started clearing. Something wasn’t right. I heard the door open and turned my head to see Pein and Deidara walk into the room. Pein smiled, “Since Sasori decided to let himself fall victim to your family, Deidara will keep you company today.”
I shrugged. “Whatever you like, Pein-sama.” I couldn’t keep flat out calling him master. I was feeling better. I still had broken bones that could easily cause me pain or damage, but all the cuts, bruises, and minor breaks were better. I was getting ready to make my own escape plan.
Deidara spoke as Pein left the room. “I’m sorry for everything.” I blinked. He went around the room and found that there was only video equipment, not sound equipment. He leaned in close to me and gave me a hug. “I’m working with Obito. The entire time I’ve been with Pein, I’ve been a plant by Obito.”
He moved back, and I studied him. His body language showed he was trying to be friendly with me, but in the way one would try to be friends with their master’s property. I knew I looked confused. I couldn’t help it. “Why’d you draw your piece on me? If you were working for Obito, why didn’t anyone else know that?”
Deidara rolled his eyes. It was all a show for the camera I knew. “No one but Obito knew. It was the only way it was safe for me to be here. They are coming tonight. Your father and Madara know about it. They are planning on reinforcing the building with people from your own family.”
I exhaled slowly, looking completely disinterested. “What about Naruto and Pein? Is he coming? Will I have a chance to take the man’s head off?”
Deidara shook his head, laughing softly with some disdain in his eyes. “Yeah, Naruto’s coming. Kisame is keeping him safe in the car though. Don’t worry. It’s armored with bullet proof glass. When one of us gives Kisame the code word, he’ll bring Naruto to you.” He looked around the room and flipped the TV on. He turned his back to me and pretended not to be paying attention to me as he talked. “As for Pein, he’s making arrangements right now. He wants to take you one more time. I think I’m supposed to bring you to him when he is ready to make his escape. I won’t leave when he tells me to. I’ll just be standing outside the door. If he’s doing something you can’t handle, use the word ‘Drumstick’. I know it’s stupid, but it’s a word that I can’t imagine you accidently using around him.”
I sighed and crossed my arms, turning my head away from him. I stood up to take a shower. When I was in the bathroom, I turned around to face him. “Thanks then, for everything.” He nodded and turned his attention back to the TV.
I went to the shower and found my thoughts running away with me. He was just acting the time he came to me in the studio. Why did it seem like no one knew what was going on? Was he just trying to fake me out now? Was he really a double agent for Obito? My head was swimming with all kinds of questions.
I stepped out of the shower and saw Deidara on his cell. “Yes, Obito. I know. I told him. I know.” He sighed. “I know. It’s dangerous, I know. No, I’ll keep him safe. Yes, we’ll take Pein together.” He paused; listening to a person I could only presume to be my uncle Obito. “I know, Obito. No, I’ll let Sasuke take him. He has earned it. You don’t know how bad it is for your nephew. You don’t know the things that man has done to him. I’m letting Sasuke take him.” He nodded and smiled. “Take care of yourself and Itachi. Remember what I’ve told you about Baki.”
I wrapped a towel around my waist and stepped out into the room. “What was all that about?”
He shrugged, still keeping up the appearance of a chilly relationship at best. “Nothing you need to concern yourself with.” He gave me a smirk. “Your uncle wanted me to do Pein for you.”
I sighed. “I heard you say I got to take him though.” I pulled some clothes from the dresser and turned my back on him, dressing. “I need that, after he marked me so badly.”
Deidara flipped off the TV. “I know.” He stood up and sighed. “He’s coming. Remember, ‘Drumstick’.”
Pein opened the door. “Have you been playing nicely, Deidara? I know Sasori used to annoy my poor, beautiful Sasuke to death.” Deidara nodded and headed out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Pein turned his attention to me. “You’ve just had a shower, haven’t you?”
I nodded. “Yes, Pein-sama. I wanted to be sure I was clean before you came to me. I’d been lazy today.” I kneeled before him. I was going to have to put up with him until the others were in place. Pein smirked at me. “What would you like me to do?”
He leered at me. “You know what you can do.” I nodded and unzipped his pants, forcing back the bile yet again. Less than one day before I could kill the bastard. Less than one day. I pulled his pants down enough to free his throbbing erection. I closed my eyes and pictured Naruto’s dick. True, it was hard to keep up the illusion when they tasted so differently, but it was the only way I could keep from gagging. It wasn’t long that I was sucking before Pein grabbed my hair and yanked me up hard. “Fuck, that’s so fucking good. On the bed,” he commanded.
I kept the sigh in. I kept the rage in. I kept the bile in. I kept it all in. I would not have to endure this much longer. I kneeled down on the bed, waiting for his next order. “Strip,” he told me. “I want to see your eyes.”
I turned around and faced him. I took my time, pulling my clothes off. I wanted to delay this in any way that I could. I saw that Pein was removing his clothing as well. His eyes trailed down my leg to his name in my thigh as I removed my pants and boxers. “I love seeing that there, Sasuke-kun. No one will ever forget who you belong to.”
I nodded before dropping my head. “Yes, master.” I choked back my anger. I got on all fours and placed my head on the pillows below me. I knew what was coming. He had the look in his eye. He was going to take me without preparation and without lube. I clenched my jaw, but otherwise kept my body relaxed. I thought about my beautiful blond and managed to keep my own erection up while Pein breeched me. The pain was unbelievable. I could feel the skin tearing as Pein hilted himself in one quick thrust.
Pein stopped once he was inside me. He enjoyed the slight pain he caused me. He always attempted a little pain. “Sasuke, how can you still be so unbelievably tight and hot? I fuck you at least twice a day, most of the time three or four times, and you still feel like a fucking virgin.” He licked my neck, and I managed to control my shiver of disgust. He started thrusting his hips against mine, growling out every time something felt good for him. He still couldn’t care if I got off, and I still had no desire to feel pleasure when he was in me.
I barely contained the groan I felt coming up as Pein grabbed my hips hard. His fingernails broke the skin, and I could feel the bruises forming. He slammed my hips back hard a few more times before his grip tightened again and he was pressed tight against me; he filled me full of his seed before standing up. “Sasuke, please take another shower.” I nodded, but refused to speak. I didn’t think I could keep the pain out of my voice.

Naruto woke up feeling truly refreshed for the first time since Sasuke was taken. Today was the day they were finally going to get Sasuke back. Itachi, Obito, and Naruto had spent all of the previous night finalizing the plans before Baki and Itachi went to bed. Kisame came to retrieve Obito and Naruto was feeling very alone. He’d gone to bed sad, but had woken up very happy.
Naruto whistled as he headed to the kitchen. Itachi was there to greet him. “Good morning, sunshine.” Naruto laughed. Itachi shrugged. “Want some breakfast?”
Itachi brought a plate out to Naruto as he sat down at the breakfast bar. “Anyone try taking out that decoy room?” Itachi nodded. “So, we think it’s someone from outside our group?”
Itachi shrugged. “I’m inclined to believe the opposite, but I have no idea who the rat could be. We have an inside man in the Akatsuki family, but it is entirely possible they have one here. No honor among thieves.”
Baki snuck into the room and wrapped his arms around Itachi’s shoulders. “What was that about honor and thieves?”
Itachi leaned back and wrapped his arms around Baki’s neck. “Nothing.” He placed a small kiss against that neck before murmuring, “I was going to let you sleep for a while. We’ve got a busy evening in front of us.”
Baki kissed Itachi’s forehead before removing his arms and heading to grab his own breakfast. He smiled as he sat down next to Itachi. “I can’t sleep without you in bed with me.” He had realized a few days ago that was actually the case. “What happened to Sasori?” He asked as he sat down. “You never did tell me.”
Itachi smirked a little sadistically. “He’s gotten amnesia. We let him go at a homeless shelter.” He shrugged at the look on Baki’s face. “He’ll be fine. He just won’t ever remember the Akatsuki family. We’re working on getting him a new life. We aren’t monsters, but we take care of our own.”
Baki sighed. ‘Shit’ he thought. “Itachi, can we go for a drive? I have something I need to tell you.” He pushed the food around on his plate. He was going to end up dead for this. He was certain. It would be a fitting punishment if Itachi killed him though. He would have earned every second of pain that Itachi caused him. He was certain that his lover was bound to be his biggest enemy after this.
Itachi shook his head and glanced over at Naruto. “You think we could get some privacy?” His eyes were almost begging. Naruto knew something big was about to happen and he’d finished his breakfast anyway. “Yeah, sure. I’ll head over to Kiba’s with Anko. I wanted to see the band quick today anyway. I know they’ll want to help however they can with Sasuke’s rescue.” He wiped his face with his sleeve, leaving the plate on the table. He smirked as he pulled on his boots. “You can do my dishes though.”
Naruto left the room and knocked one door over. Itachi waited until he heard them leaving. He turned to Baki. “I can tell it’s big, so spill it all ready.”
Baki pushed the food around on the plate. “I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with you. I wasn’t supposed to actually like your brother.” He paused and looked into Itachi’s confused eyes, pain filling his own. “I understand if you want to kill me when I tell you what I’m about to tell you. If you could just listen to me all the way through what I have to say, I’ll let you do whatever you want to me.”
Itachi sighed. “I’ll give you that much.” He leaned back in his chair, pushing his finished plate to the middle of the table. He had a feeling that whatever Baki was going to tell him, he didn’t want to hear it.
Baki took a deep breath and looked into Itachi’s eyes, “I am the double agent. My real boss is Uchiha Madara.” He dropped his eyes, realizing he couldn’t look at the man he loved as he broke his heart. He heard Itachi’s growl, but continued in a shaky voice. “I-I was supposed to give you bad information about the location of the base. I was supposed to lead you to an ambush tonight, but I can’t. I can’t. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with you.”
Itachi narrowed his eyes dangerously. “Do you know what they are doing to my little brother because of you?” Baki nodded, tears falling freely. “Did you abandon Naruto and Sasuke on purpose at the pier?” Itachi’s voice was rising in his anger. Baki winced and nodded again. He felt Itachi’s fist connect with his jaw, but did nothing in an attempt to stop it. He wanted to be dead for causing pain to the man he loved. “Have you been telling them our plans?”
Baki shook his head. “I haven’t told them any of the real plans for a week now. I realized when you realized there was a double agent that I couldn’t do it anymore. I’ve never been in love before. Then you were there when I supposed to be protecting Sasuke. You had that beautiful face, those caring eyes, and you liked me for who I was. You didn’t care that I was shady or that I was scarred. You cared about me.” He fought for control of his shaking, nervous voice. “And this is how I repay your love. I trash it.” He looked up as Itachi grabbed his shirt. “Please, Itachi, I deserve to die for what I’ve done to you.”
Itachi barely held back his own sobs. He pushed his feelings down, locking them in his cold, black heart. He felt his fists landing against his lover’s body. He wasn’t sure when he’d stopped hitting Baki and when he had pulled the man to his body. All he knew was that he had his lips on those that were all too familiar.
Baki let Itachi kiss him. He welcomed the kisses after all the pain he caused the man he loved. As the kiss broke, Baki whispered, “I want to fight with you. I want to save Sasuke. I want to change my alliance.” He paused, wondering if he should even bother to continue. “I love you.”
Itachi felt warm, wet streaks falling from his eyes. He wiped his eyes only to find that he was in fact crying. He clutched the body next to his even tighter. “Why? Why?” He sobbed, feeling Baki’s hands running over his back soothingly. “Why did you tell me? What good does it do to know this now?”
Baki whispered with a voice ragged from crying so hard, “I want to be with you, but I couldn’t lie to you anymore. I’ve never cared for anyone other than myself. I want to protect you, but I can’t do anything until I help you get Sasuke back. It’s the only way I can even begin to repay my debt to you.”
“Yes it is,” both men jumped as they heard Obito’s voice behind them. “I’m really disappointed in you Baki, but you didn’t have to come clean. You’ve done something small to begin your redemption, but you can’t even begin to pretend to have paid your debt unless we get Sasuke back. Keep in mind there will be consequences regardless of our success. No one hurts my family and gets away with it.”
Itachi stood up and wiped his eyes. “Obito, I don’t know what to say. I didn’t know. I didn’t know.”
Obito held his nephew, running a hand through his hair. “Shh, ‘Tachi. It’s okay. I promise everything will be all right.” He glared the most evil glare he could at his subordinate. “You can prove your loyalty tonight. You protect Itachi and you take out your old bosses. If you do both of those things, I’ll consider keeping you on with only minimal torture to your psyche.”
Baki nodded, “I expect no less. I wouldn’t let anything happen to Itachi. I’m a horrible person to have involved any of you in this situation. I don’t deserve anything, but I want to serve you and make you proud.” He looked at a ragged Itachi, being held and comforted like a small child in his loving uncle’s arms. “I want to be someone Itachi can love again.”
Itachi closed his eyes and buried his face in Obito’s neck, afraid he might start crying again. He hadn’t cried since the first time he told Obito what was happening with his father and Madara. He needed some time to process everything. Obito knew what he needed. Obito always knew what he needed. “’Tachi, go take a nap,” Obito cooed as he led Itachi to the bedroom. “I’ll wake you up when Naruto returns.”
Itachi nodded and headed to the bedroom, falling asleep to the sounds that could only be Baki being taught the hard way that you don’t cross Obito. Obito had a worse temper than just about any other Uchiha. He just happened to hide it behind a cheery demeanor almost perfectly. The problem was that no one knew about it until it was too late to do anything.
Baki stood still, taking blow after blow as Obito hit him hard enough to get his point across, but not so much that he couldn’t be of use tonight. He’d seen the truth in the man’s eyes as he spoke with Itachi. That didn’t stop the rage Obito felt at having his youngest nephew pulled into the mess of the family because of this man though. “You will be forced to prove yourself. You will protect my nephews with your life if necessary.” Baki could only nod.
Obito sighed. He sat down at the table and rubbed the bridge of his nose. This wasn’t turning out at all like he wanted it to. He checked his watch. He glared at Baki. “You understand that if you so much as look at someone from our side wrong tonight, I won’t hesitate to put a bullet through your brain.”
Baki nodded. “I would have it coming for hurting Itachi and Sasuke.” He looked like he was going to cry again. Baki sat down across from Obito and slammed his head against the table a few times. “I’m such an idiot. I couldn’t do my job. I couldn’t. I just had to fall in love.” He looked up at Obito with watery eyes. “I love him, Obito. I will do everything in my power to protect him.”
Obito nodded. He knew it was true. He was a human lie detector, of sorts. He pulled out a couple of handguns, checking to make sure they were all still in working order and fully loaded. Naruto would be back with Anko in about an hour. He’d convinced the band to come with. They were all going to stay in the armored car until they were called for. It was the only thing they could do. They weren’t used to fighting the way he and Itachi were. He turned to Baki, “Turn the TV on for a distraction, please.”
Baki and Obito were sitting on the couch. In the past hour they had more or less gotten to the point where each trusted the other again. Itachi would be better after a rest; Obito knew that much. Itachi was always better after a rest. He’d be able to think logically and separate his emotional distress from the job at hand. He knew that Itachi would trust Baki at his side.
The door to the hotel room opened revealing Naruto and Anko, followed by Indigo and the rest of the band. Ten-Ten was looking Anko up and down as she had several times since the band had met her. Naruto sighed. “I just talked to Neji. He said people are starting to worry about Sasuke because he’s missed so much school and work. He said that Iruka and Kakashi, Sasuke’s bosses at the tattoo studio, want to give his job away.”
Obito sighed, a slight frown on his face. “Sasuke’s got a lot of good friends back there, doesn’t he?” Naruto nodded. Obito laughed a little. “Then we have to get him back home. That’s all there is to it.”
Naruto smiled. “You know, uncle Obito, I think I like you.” Obito laughed. He knew Sasuke must love this man because of his ability to make people laugh and smile regardless of the situation. “So, what did Baki want to talk to Itachi about when I left?”
Baki shook his head. “I’ll tell you later. Right now, we have a job to do.” Naruto nodded. Baki sighed. “I’ll go get Itachi.”
“No need to bother.” Everyone looked up at a refreshed Itachi. “Baki’s right. There’s a job to do. Everyone get on your vests and then get in the cars.” Itachi dialed the teams he had assembled and Obito did the same. Between them there were over 100 people that would be storming the Akatsuki complex and Uchiha Enterprises. According to Deidara, that still might not be enough to get everyone out safely.
()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
Deidara threw the door open and grabbed my arm. “They’re coming. It’s time for us to find Pein.” I nodded. I had dressed for fighting. I reached out for the knife Deidara was handing me. He smirked. “That’s for Pein, and only Pein. Let me take care of any other members we meet.”
I nodded again. “What about Itachi and Obito?”
Deidara smirked. “They are at another location, near here, going for Madara and Fugaku.” He smirked as he pushed me behind a door. I could hear gunshots now. “Looks like our reinforcements are here. Anko should be leading her team through here shortly.”
I smiled as I grasped the knife. It wasn’t that big a knife considering I knew people with bigger, but it would certainly slit the throat of the man who had carved his name into my body. I followed behind Deidara as we wound our way through the hallways. I’d never been conscious outside the room, and had no idea where we were going. The wallpaper was a cream color and the carpet was maroon. I laughed a little when I realized the blood wouldn’t show when I slit the bastard’s throat.
Deidara held me back as the sound of shots got louder. “We’re supposed to be meeting Pein in his study to get out through the secret tunnel. I’m sure the rest of your people are currently taking down nameless bottoms of the organization. The people that Pein just tosses out to die.”
I growled. “I can’t wait to slit that fucker’s throat. I’m going to rip him apart. He deserves so much worse, but I’ll be a better person that he is and just end it for him, quickly.” Deidara laughed. My anger was apparently amusing.
We hid behind a sculpture as a person I recognized as Anko came running down a side hall, shooting at people on the other side of the hall. We waited until she was past us before we ran a little bit farther down the hall. We came to left hand turn and entered the first room in the new hallway. I had hidden the knife so that Pein wouldn’t suspect right away.
Deidara smirked as he saw Pein sitting at his desk. “Only you could be calm while your base was being invaded.”
Pein smirked and laughed. “Why not? It’s not like they are going to get me. I’ve got my secret exit.” He winked at me. “I’ve decided to save you, Sasuke. Aren’t you excited?” I nodded, somehow managing to keep the excited gleam from my eyes. “Come here, Sasuke. Let me kiss you before we leave.”
I walked over to Pein and before the man had time to react, I grabbed the knife I had hidden and had it pressed to his neck. Pein laughed. “You think you’ll kill me with one of my subordinates here?”
I leaned down to whisper in his ear as Deidara trained his gun on the door that had been left open, in case someone came looking for Pein. “You might want to ask him whose subordinate he is.”
Pein glared at Deidara. “What are you waiting for? He’s threatening me. Your job is to kill those who threaten your boss.”
Deidara laughed and tossed his blond hair over his shoulder. “I would, but my boss is taking care of some Uchiha’s at the moment. Go ahead, Sasuke. Say what you need to and get it done.”
I laughed. It was an evil sound. It wasn’t the same laughter that Naruto gave me. This was laughter that was from weeks of pent up desire to kill a man. This was a mad man’s laughter. “You marked me, but I was never yours. You allowed me to heal enough that I can kill you now. I’ll do you a favor though. When it’s time for you to die, I’ll do it quickly.”
I pressed the knife tighter to his throat slicing it just the way mine had been sliced in the car, just enough to draw blood. “I want you to know that I was never yours. I went along with your sickness because it got me to this point. I never got hard off of you. I was always thinking about my blond, and the fact that you touched him once doesn’t make him yours. The fact that you carved your fucking name into my thigh doesn’t make me yours.” I put my mouth right next to his ear. I waited a few seconds, making him wonder what I was going to do.
The door to Pein’s study flew the rest of the way open and that doctor came in with his gun pointed at my head. I glared at him. I didn’t care if he shot me, as long as I killed Pein first. I heard him say something about moving away from Pein, but instead I laughed as I saw Deidara train his gun on Kabuto. “Not going to happen,” Deidara smiled as he steadied his gun. “You can live if you just put the gun down.”
I pressed the knife into Pein’s throat hard and slid it across the skin. “Die you fucking bastard!” I hissed into his ear. I heard a gun go off and assumed it must have been Deidara’s since I was still standing. I looked behind me and saw Kabuto lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
I moved to Deidara and watched as Pein grabbed at his throat. I could hear his breath rasping and bubbling as he gurgled for breath. His lungs began to fill with blood. The front of his body was stained crimson and his eyes were finally dull. I tossed the knife to the ground by his body.
I stood there staring at the body as Anko entered the room. I saw Deidara call Kisame and tell him it was clear. I kept staring at the body. After a minute or two, I finally snapped. I ran over to his dead body and started kicking it. I was screaming at him. “You fucking sick perverted bastard. You fucking freak. You fucking deserved your death. I should have fucking made it painful.” I felt tears flowing down my cheeks but I couldn’t stop. I was kicking him harder. “Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.”
Suddenly there were arms around me, turning me away from the body and holding me tightly. I immediately recognized the smell of my Naruto. I sobbed into his shoulders as he held me tight, whispering in my ear. I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him tight, afraid that if I let go he wouldn’t be there any longer. I vaguely became aware of Naruto’s voice. “Sasuke, I’m so sorry. I wish I could have protected you. It’s okay now though, baby. You’re safe. He can’t hurt you anymore. He can’t hurt you. You got him. He’s gone. He’s gone.”
I leaned up and captured Naruto’s lips in a punishing kiss. I had to show him how much he meant to me just then. I had to show him how much I loved him. I stopped sobbing and just held Naruto. I broke the kiss and looked into his eyes. “He hurt me bad.”
Naruto nodded. “It’s all right. I’ll take care of you. I want you. I love you. I’m never going to leave you. Not if you paid me.”
I choked back my sobs and forced my voice to become stronger. “He marked me, badly. He broke my bones, raped me, and carved his name into my thigh. Are you sure you still want me?”
Naruto was crying now. “Shut up you stupid bastard. If I didn’t still want you, I wouldn’t have drug the entire band down here to make sure you had friends around you as soon as it was over.”
I smiled softly through all my unshed tears, gasping softly for air. “I love you, Naruto.” I felt Naruto’s arms going around my waist as we headed toward the car. He held me close as I felt a blanket go around my shoulders. He was holding me tightly while I was being asked questions by Obito’s men. He held me close as I told the band what had happened. We pulled up outside the Uchiha Enterprises building to see Obito and Baki holding Itachi between them.
I screamed as I rushed out of the car. Naruto was on my heels. Itachi’s eyes were as dead as Pein’s had been after I drained him. “Itachi, no! No! Please, Itachi say something.”
Obito grabbed me. “Sasuke, he’s not going to make it. We’re going to try to get him to the hospital in time, but he’s not going to make it.”
Baki’s eyes were misting over. He was trying to be strong for Itachi. Itachi was holding his hand over a wound that bleeding badly. I sobbed. I needed to hold my brother. I needed him to know I was safe. I needed him to know that I loved him. I took Obito’s spot holding up Itachi’s left side. “’Tachi,” I started hesitantly, “I’m safe. Thank you, ‘Tachi.”
Itachi’s lifeless face turned toward mine and it was all I could do not to cry. I would later learn the events that caused my brother’s current state.
“Itachi, your flank take the right side of the office complex. I believe your father is third door. Madara is the fifth.” Obito indicated the direction he wanted his nephew to take. “Go with Itachi, Baki. With your life.”
Baki nodded. “Of course. Would you like me to secure Madara once Itachi has Fugaku?”
Obito nodded. “I’m going to try to go in and get Madara on my own. I have a score to settle of my own. Itachi’s revenge is mostly on his father anyway. If I get to Madara first, I’ll call you.”
Itachi nodded. “See you when we’ve taken them down, Obito.” He motioned Baki. “Let’s go.” Itachi and Baki snuck down the hall toward Fugaku’s office. They were met by small resistances that stood no chance. Both men were carrying two handguns, and Itachi was carrying a dagger. They found themselves outside of his father’s office. Itachi nodded toward the door. “When I say, you open, I’ll shoot.”
Baki nodded and yanked the door open as Itachi told him to. Itachi shot through the door. The shot hit his father in the shoulder. It wasn’t enough to kill the man, but he was incapacitated enough for Baki and Itachi to restrain him. Fugaku laughed. “Baki, you’re a fucking moron. You chose the wrong side. Madara will never stand for this.”
Baki laughed. “I made my choice. I’d rather die with your son than live to know I caused him more pain.” He spit in Fugaku’s face. “You never deserved to have two sons as good as Itachi and Sasuke. They should never have had to go through what you’ve put them through.”
He punched the man before Itachi reached out and grabbed his shoulder. “That’s enough, Baki.” He smiled at the man he loved. Yes, he still loved Baki. He leaned down and kissed the man passionately in front of his father. He wanted his father to see his subordinate cared for his son now. “Go secure Madara and then come back to me. I’ll wait to move him until you get back.”
Itachi sat and waited for Baki to return. It wasn’t more than a minute later that Baki was back. He smirked. “Obito was getting there just as I arrived. Apparently the only two Uchihas and underlings left right now in LA are you and Madara.” He smirked at the man before turning back to Itachi and wrapping his arms around his waist, placing his head on Itachi’s shoulder. He turned toward Itachi and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for your forgiveness.”
Itachi smirked. “Hn,” his expression softened, “You still have so much to make up for.” He turned to his father as Baki let him go. “Father, father, father. You have led a very bad life.” He pulled his father to a standing position and kicked the man’s knee, delighting in the sound of breaking bones. “I’m sorry, father, I guess I should have warned you first, but then again, you never warned me when I was seven and you cut the skin from my shoulders for giving you the wrong location of a drug deal.”
Itachi slammed his father against his desk, making a large gash in his father’s forehead. “You never warned me the first time you let Madara put his cigar out on stomach.” Itachi paused as he heard a gunshot. “I’d say that’s the end of my dear old Uncle Madara.” He laughed a relief filled laugh. “He’ll never be hurting anyone ever again, and you’ll be joining him soon.”
Itachi motioned Baki to hold his father’s hands behind his back. “Don’t move old man, or you’ll get to add some more broken bones to your list, not that it’ll matter in a few minutes anyway.” Baki held Fugaku as Itachi moved closer, waving the dagger menacingly.
Itachi smirked. “Remember how I said I’d make you pay for hurting me so much? It’s time to finish this, but I’m not going to do it this way. I promised myself that I wouldn’t kill you for what you did to me. I’ve taken too many lives because of you.” He put the knife away and grabbed his father’s hand, twisting until bones of the wrist snapped.
Fugaku screamed out in pain as his son broke his wrist. He knew he was in trouble. There was no way he was getting away from jail and once in jail he was as good as dead. The look in Itachi’s eyes was dangerous. He managed to press the button on the remote on the inside of his jacket. It was a silent call to the one man he had left in his arsenal. He wasn’t in the fight, but he was in the building.
Baki let go of Itachi’s father as Itachi motioned him back. “Time for you to go, old man.” He glared at his father as he pulled his gun and aimed for the man’s temple. “Let’s go.” He pushed his father in front of him and smiled at Baki. “Let’s get him out of here.”
He and Baki turned around just in time to see a long haired, pale skinned, long-tongued freak pulling a gun. He had aimed at Baki and pulled the trigger. Itachi reacted without thinking. He refused to let the man he loved die. Itachi took the bullet in the gut. He was bleeding badly. He figured it was the liver that had been hit. Itachi fell to his knees. Baki screamed in rage and dropped the man on the spot. “Fuck you, Orochimaru!” He screamed as he watched the man drop. He heard the gun behind him cock and dove behind a filing cabinet just in time. He stood back up and shot, hitting Fugaku in the temple, killing him on the spot. He couldn’t believe he had forgotten about Orochimaru.
“Obito!” He shouted as he heard footsteps coming his way. “Obito, Itachi’s been hit. We need to get him to the hospital.” He heard the tears in his own voice, but he didn’t care. He wanted to cry for his fallen love. There was so much blood. He didn’t know how Itachi could make it. He pressed his hand to the wound and helped Itachi stand as Obito came in the room and took the weight on Itachi’s other side.
Itachi managed a weak smile. “At least I tried to be the better man before I died, and I know that you truly love me.” He leaned over and planted a soft, chaste kiss on Baki’s lips before passing out.
I was crying as we put Itachi in the car. He could barely breathe, and I wouldn’t let him talk. I kept telling him it was okay. He was going to make it. He was going to make it. He was going to make it. We pulled up to the emergency entrance, and nurses and doctors immediately came over and started working on him. I knew he loved Baki and Baki loved the man, so I let Baki be the one to hold his hand as they wheeled him back to the OR.
When we couldn’t go any farther, we sat down in the waiting room. It was hours before we had any word. The doctor came out; I didn’t know the man. “The family of Uchiha Itachi?”
I stood up with Obito. “That’s us. What’s happening?” Naruto held my hand for strength. He knew I just needed his presence.
The doctor shook his head. “We got the bullet out and he’s stable for now. He lost a lot of blood though; I’m not sure he’ll make it through the night.” I started crying. “You can go into the ICU, family only, and say anything you might need to say to him, in case he doesn’t make it.”
I took a deep breath. I told Baki to go first. He shook his head. “I’m not family.” Obito told him to go. He said that he’d proven his loyalty, and Itachi was obviously still very much in love with the man. We wanted him to say his piece first. We thought Itachi deserved that.
Baki went into Itachi’s room and we all sat in the waiting room. Naruto pulled me tight to his chest. “I’m so sorry, Sasuke. I don’t know what to say.” Kiba and the rest of the band had been brought home, but Naruto’s phone started ringing. “Who’s calling?”
Naruto smiled. “It’s Kiba. He said he’d call later and find out how Itachi was doing.” Naruto opened the phone. “Hey, man.” He shook his head. “They won’t know if he’ll make it until tomorrow or the next day. He could be gone at anytime.” He squeezed my hand to lend support to me as he gave Kiba the bleak truth. “Yeah, we’ll call you.” He hung up just as Baki came back.
Obito went in next. I was having trouble finding the ability to make myself go see my brother on what could be the last hours of his life. I forced myself to get up and join Obito though. Naruto thought it might be easier for me if I went in with Obito. I stopped as I heard Obito crying. He was saying, “I should have taken better care of you and Sasuke. I should have taken your father out so long ago, when I learned what you had been put through. I wanted to give the legitimate authorities time to bring him down though.” He sniffled as I opened the door. He smiled sadly at me, sniffing as he tried to regain his composure. “I’m sorry, Sasuke. I guess I couldn’t save you both.”
I smiled and took Obito’s hand. “No, uncle. You’ve done more for both of us than we could possibly have asked for. I know Itachi would say the same thing if he could.” I sat down next to Obito and took Itachi’s hand. I smiled at my brother. I really loved him. We fought all the time about the little shit like what to eat or what time I should go to bed or even what I should major in when it came to school. In times like this though, our true feelings came out. We put all the petty shit aside and supported each other. I leaned down and kissed Itachi’s temple. “I love you, Itachi. You better not die on me. I’m not ready to be without you just yet.”
Obito and I left that night, wanting nothing more than to stay, but knowing it would make no difference in Itachi’s condition. Baki stayed by the side of the man he loved, hoping to give him the strength to pull through. That night, Naruto held me close and I slept peacefully for the first time in weeks. He held me close, even after seeing the damage Pein had inflicted on my body. He reassured me that it didn’t matter to him, now that I was safe and in his arms again. I smiled that night as I fell asleep. I think that night Kisame and Obito just held each other, too. We didn’t hear anything coming from their room. It was a night of sorrow and joy, and the two warring emotions were just too much to handle without loved ones by your side.
