Chapter 14: Another Assassination Mission

Konoha Arena

“Move away from that boy, he is under arrest for the murder of the princess of the Land of Fire and her betrothed the prince of the Land of Forests.” Danzō ordered hiding his wicked grin behind his stoic visage.

“What no way, there is no way Naruto could have done this, how would he have even known about the wedding or where it was taking place?” Kakashi replied his eyes narrowing as he looked at Danzō with his Sharingan.

‘Well isn’t this convenient, just after the Hokage dies you and the council elders just happen to appear to take Naruto. What the fuck do you know, what are you up to?’ Kakashi thought as he studied the elders standing behind Danzō.

“Where is your proof Danzō? I will not let you take him without any proof.” Kakashi replied stepping between the village elders and the unconscious Naruto. Behind him Hinata and Haku shuffled backwards putting a bit more distance between Naruto and the elders and their ANBU guards.

“Oh I have proof. Fū, Torune come forward and present yourselves.” Danzō said a small smile on his face. From behind the ANBU guards came two men one had long orange hair tied up in a high pony tail. The other was a shorter man with a mask that covered the top of his face, with googles covering his eyes, though neither of them was wearing their Leaf shinobi symbols.

“You really think your two, what “witnesses” have enough proof that Naruto did what you say he did?” Kakashi asked with a raised eyebrow as he looked at the two “witnesses” standing behind the bandaged Danzō.

“Of course they have enough proof. They were outside of the village Naruto destroyed and watched the entire incident.” The male member of the pair of elders said as he stepped forward to stand beside the smirking Danzō.

‘Of course you would say that you’re both in on this aren’t you?’ Kakashi thought as he spoke aloud. “Is that so, how did they know it was Naruto? Why didn’t they report this to the Hokage, it’s been two weeks since the destruction of that village and the traveler that reported the destruction of the village said that the village had been destroyed in a three day period from when he left on the first day and the day he returned three days later. So if they were “witnesses” how did they not get to the village first to report what happened?” Kakashi said sarcasm and suspicion very obviously dripping from every word he spoke.

Next to Kakashi on his right, Anko stepped forward her suspicion painted across her face as she looked at Danzō and the two elders. “Funny that your “witnesses” should be shinobi Danzō considering we found a chakra infused Leaf ANBU mask in the center of the village.” Anko lied as she looked closely at the three elders.

Danzō didn’t react at all to the news but the two elders passed a look between them that all the Jōnin noticed.

“Very well then, until further evidence comes forward the boy will be placed under house arrest for the foreseeable future, he will not be eligible for missions until a new Hokage is appointed and will be watched 24/7 by ANBU Black Ops.” The female elder said as their ANBU guards moved to surround the unconscious blonde and his two lovers.

“They will watch over him.” Asuma said landing next to Kakashi on his left opposite Anko on Kakashi’s right. Behind him and taking up positions around Naruto landed four ANBU who had previously been under the direct orders of the Hokage.

“Fine, let’s go we have to spread the word that the attack is over and get everything back to normal.” The elder Homura said turning away and walking for the exit. He was followed by the female elder Koharu.

‘When I am Hokage he will be mine.’ Danzō thought as he turned away and walked towards the entrance.

As they watched the elders walk out of the arena, Sasuke disgusted over the protection of Naruto shouted at the Jōnin. “Why the fuck are you protecting that freak, he’s a fucking demon, a monster just like them, you all saw them.” Sasuke continued to shout pointing at the four other Jinchūriki.

“Sasuke unless you want to die right here, right now, no, then fuck off!” Haku growled with ice coating her hands reminding him that his Sharingan couldn’t copy her Kekkai Genkai ice-style and last time they fought she had beat him easily.

“Whatever losers I won’t save you when he turns on you like the monster he is.” Sasuke hissed as he stormed off, nobody followed after him.

“What’s his fucking problem? Is he really that jealous of Naruto?” Temari asked watching Sasuke storm off.

As Haku relaxed and continued to stroke Naruto’s hair as the situation cooled down Gai stepped up behind Kakashi.

“What do you think they’re up to Kakashi?” Gai asked what the others were thinking.

“I would bet my life they want the Nine-Tails under their control and something tells me they’ve tried this before.” Kakashi replied as he thought about the chakra shielding infused in Danzō’s bandages.

Anko raised an eyebrow as the other Jōnin listened in on the conversation. “You think they took him from the exam?” she asked Kakashi quietly so that only the other Jōnin could hear.

“It would make sense.” Kurenai said holding her chin deep in thought. “I mean the elders of the council were deeply upset that the Feudal Lord didn’t hire any Konoha shinobi to act as body guards for his daughter.” She continued looking at her friends.

“It doesn’t matter now, all that matters are watching over Naruto and making sure he isn’t compromised.” Yūgao said looking down at the boy she had spent almost eight years watching over and most recently her training partner and student. “How do you think he will react to Hayate’s death?” she asked.

“Who knows?” Kakashi sighed, “But let’s get him home.”

“And what do we do with these six?” Gai asked looking between the Sand Genin, the two Stone Jinchūriki and the Sound Kunoichi.

“I have an idea.” Kakashi said explaining his ideas to the others.



Naruto was trapped in an all-consuming darkness, he couldn’t move, he couldn’t see and he couldn’t hear himself screaming. All he felt was sharp stinging pain in multiple parts of his body. He struggled to move, struggled to stop himself silently screaming in pain as his flesh was cut and sliced. He didn’t know how long this torture had gone on for or how long it would continue.

Over and over again he felt his flesh being cut and sliced repeatedly for how long he didn’t know, but the pain was starting to get to him.

‘Stop, please stop, make this end, someone help me.’ Naruto thought as he felt a blade slice up his stomach to his sternum. He had lost count on how many times the person torturing him had made this cut on him.

He couldn’t hear himself screaming in pain. He couldn’t feel himself thrashing around in agony. ‘Kurama where are you?’ Naruto thought as his torture continued as another blade cut into his ribs.

He thought he heard a familiar voice calling out far, far away but it was soon gone as a new painful sensation assaulted his senses. Searing pain stabbed into his brain as his wounds were cauterized in flame. He continued to scream and violently thrash around in pain as someone or some people continued to cut into him and cauterize the wounds.

Again and again this process played out. Over and over again Naruto sunk deeper and deeper into his deprived and agonized existence.

  In the aftermath of the invasion the unconscious Naruto was taken back to the apartment complex that had been his home for most of his life. Hinata and Haku led Kakashi, Fuu, Karin, Yūgao and her four-man ANBU squad.

“Good nobody is around; quickly let’s get him inside before this gets complicated.” Kakashi said stepping out of the shadows of a nearby building.

“Of course nobody is around we bought out the entire complex nobody but Naruto, Karin and I live in this building.” Haku said as she led the way up to Naruto’s apartment. She opened the door for Kakashi who walked into the apartment and followed Hinata into the bedroom. Kakashi gently laid Naruto on the bed before leaving the room. Hinata brushed the hair away from Naruto’s eyes before following Kakashi out into the living room.

“You girls have been busy.” Kakashi said as he walked into the extended living room while looking at the spot where a wall had once been.

“We did that to all eight apartments on this floor, so basically there is only four apartments on this floor now.” Haku said as she passed by Kakashi and Hinata to look in on the unconscious Naruto.

“I’ll be going now, if you need me I’ll be at T&I headquarters with Ibiki, Anko, Inoichi and Shikaku.” Kakashi said before leaving.

“Alright I’ll check on the ANBU watch, I’ll be back soon.” Yūgao said. Just as she was about to step out the door she was stopped by Naruto’s agonized screams of pain.

They all bolted for Naruto’s bedroom where they found him screaming in pain and thrashing around.

“Wake him now before he hurts himself.” Yūgao ordered. Haku and Hinata jumped onto the bed trying to pin the thrashing Naruto’s arms and legs. Yūgao watched the two girls pinned Naruto to the bed before heading for the exit.

Haku was sitting on Naruto’s thighs pinning his legs while Hinata was kneeling on his chest her knees pinning his arms beneath her. “Naruto wake up!” Hinata called out shaking his shoulders trying to wake him.

“Naruto wake up, please wake up.” Hinata asked still shaking Naruto’s shoulders. Hinata turned to face Yūgao as she rushed back in with one of the ANBU behind her. With her attention on Yūgao Hinata didn’t notice the tendril of Nine-Tails chakra wrap around her wrist.

Hinata screamed in agony as she felt the pain that Naruto was feeling. “What’s going on?” she gasped out her question as she felt a blade cut down her right arm.

“You have to wake Naruto up he’s is reliving his torture and if it continues like this it will alter him permanently.” A voice said in the distance.

“Kurama is that you?” Hinata asked looking around the darkness for Kurama.

“Yes we have to wake Naruto.” Kurama said as he walked out of the darkness to tower above Hinata.

“So how are we going to wake him if I’m inside his head? Besides I can’t see anything in here.” Hinata asked looking up at the giant fox.

“Follow me and be ready to kill whatever is doing this to Naruto. Lucky for you I can see perfectly.” Kurama growled as a small chakra link wrapped around her wrist.

Hinata followed behind Kurama as he led her deeper and deeper into Naruto’s unconscious mindscape.

As they moved deeper into Naruto’s mindscape the echoes of Naruto’s pained screams grew louder and louder. “Kurama you said he is reliving his torture, what torture?” she asked as the screams got louder as she continued to follow the giant fox.

“The one you call Danzō tortured Naruto trying to break his will in an attempt to ensnare me with his stolen Sharingan.” Kurama growled in reply as he remembered the pain he shared with Naruto during the torture.

“So Kakashi is right Danzō is after you?” Hinata asked tears stinging her eyes as Naruto’s screams continued to echo around them.

“Yes, I’m just surprised he doesn’t yet remember his own imprisonment at the hands of Danzō.” Kurama replied stopping himself and Hinata.

“What is it?” Hinata whispered as Kurama stopped her.

“We’re here and it’s worse than I thought, you’re gonna need some help.” Kurama said stepping backwards.

“Hinata what’s going on?” Haku asked shaking Hinata whose head was thrown back in a silent scream; she was completely enveloped in a single tailed Stage One Chakra Cloak.

Right before her eyes she watched as the Nine-Tails chakra rushed up her arms to envelope her in the same chakra cloak as Hinata. Instantly the world around her disappeared to be replaced by pitch black darkness.

“Where am I?” Haku asked looking around her eyes falling on Hinata’s back.

“You are in Naruto’s unconscious mind and we need your help to wake him.” A deep voice said from above her. Looking up she could see the red eyes of the Nine-Tails.

“Kurama what’s going on?” Haku winced as Naruto’s screams echoed around her.

“I’ll show you cover your ears.” Kurama said before stepping in front of the two Kunoichi. Kurama roared with a chakra infused roar. The darkness around them disappeared revealing a giant torture cell. Directly across from them a bloody and beaten Naruto was dangling from a pair of rusty iron shackles as three masked men slowly tortured him. One of them holding a dull rusty iron kunai was slowly cutting just above the blonde’s heart causing Naruto to scream in agony and thrashed against the rusty iron shackles and stone wall behind him.

“Kurama what’s going on here? Who are those people?” Haku asked as silent tears ran down her face as she watched her lover being tortured.

“Kurama is this the torture you were talking about earlier?” Hinata asked tears also falling from her eyes as she watched the boy she loved fall into unconsciousness from being tortured.

“Yes his unconscious mind is re-living the torture Danzō put him through weeks ago. Right now he believes this is real and not a deeply suppressed memory.” Kurama replied as he watched the resolve return to their eyes.

“How do we wake him then?” Haku asked though she already guessed the answer.

“Kill them so I can wake him up.” Kurama replied before shrinking down to about the size of a dire wolf.

“Any plan on how to do this?” Haku asked as she studied the three torturers.

“No plans just kill!” Kurama growled before bolting for the nearest torturer.

“How did I know he’d say that?” Haku sighed rolling her eyes at Hinata before they both followed after the charging fox. They each picked a torturer on one side of the torturer the fox was attacking.

Kurama jumped at his intended victim his jaw latching around the torturers throat. With a squeeze and a twist he snapped the torturers spine and tore his head off and tossed it away. The head crashed into the wall of the room with a sickening crunch.

Hinata and Haku ran past the jumping Kurama to strike at the other two torturers. Haku threw a set of ice shuriken at the torturer on Naruto’s right while Hinata activated her Byakugan and attacked the torturer on Naruto’s left. With her Byakugan active Hinata could see all of her targets chakra points.

  Haku’s shuriken ripped through her targets back, through flesh and bone before ripping out of his front to be embedded in the wall besides the dangling Naruto. As Haku’s target dropped to his knees Hinata struck using her clan’s Gentle Fist technique. With a chakra blast from her fist she punched through the torturers heart destroying his heart instantly.

All three of the tortures lay face down in pools of their own blood while Haku, Hinata and Kurama were standing before the dangling Naruto. Kurama used his tails to break the shackles holding Naruto pinned to the cell wall. With the shackles holding him destroyed Naruto dropped towards the floor only to be caught by Haku and Hinata, his head resting on the Hyūga’s shoulder.

“Alright Kurama what do we do now?” Haku asked looking at the wolf-sized fox.

“Hopefully this does the trick lay him down.” Kurama said as the torturers bodies disappeared. Soon the cell also disappeared to be replaced with a sewer as Hinata lay Naruto down on the sewer floor. Kurama stood above the unconscious Naruto, using his tails to hold the blonde’s arms and legs he began breathing out a chakra mist.

Kurama turned to face the two girls, “Wake up now and be ready.” Kurama said. The last thing they saw was Kurama leaning over Naruto’s face and breathing a chakra mist onto his face and the words “Naruto wake up!”

Naruto woke up with a gasp, his eyes bolting upon even though they stung from bright lights above. “Where am I? What’s going on?” he gasped trying to move his arms to block out the light.

A shadow moved in front of his face blocking out the light. He could feel something wet hitting his cheeks. As his eyes adjusted to the light in the room, the shadow above him began to take shape into the face of someone he recognized.

“Hinata is that you?” he asked his eyes fixated on the tears falling from her pearl-like eyes.

“Yes.” She whispered leaning down to take his lips in a deep kiss, which left them both gasping for breath.

“Move aside slut time to share.” Haku jokingly said pushing Hinata aside before leaning in to kiss Naruto in a deep and passionate kiss leaving Naruto again gasping for air when the kiss ended.

“You’re calling me a slut, you were the one here getting her brains fucked out when I was gone on missions.” Hinata joked with a raised eyebrow as she stole a passionate kiss from the still recovering Naruto.

“Alright ladies let him get his breath back so he can rest.” Yūgao said as she walked into the room watching the two teenaged women stealing kisses from the slightly shocked blonde.

“Yūgao what are you doing here?” Naruto asked as Haku and Hinata got off of the bed and left the room jokingly arguing over whom was fucking whom.

“Huh, I would never have guessed Hinata would have gotten over her shyness and that stutter of hers. Maybe her father will reconsider whether or not Hinata will be the clan heir.” Yūgao pondered aloud as she watched the two Kunoichi leave the room.

“Yūgao what’s going on? What happened at the arena? Why am I here? Why are there ANBU Black Ops outside? Where is Hayate sensei and Kakashi sensei?” Naruto asked in quick fire succession before looking down at the rags he was wearing. “Uh disgusting, do you mind if I have a shower first and a change of clothes?” he asked getting out of bed.

“Sure why not, you are a little vagrant.” Yūgao joked before laughing at Naruto’s scowl.

“This is not funny. I don’t even know when I last had a shower.” Naruto grumbled opening his closet and pulling out a black sleeveless shirt, a pair of boxers and a pair of black jeans.

“Sorry Naruto your right, but there is a lot to fill you in on right now so have your shower and we’ll talk afterwards hopefully that will give me the time to call in the other Jōnin.” Yūgao said turning around and walking out of the room.

Naruto watched her leave his mind racing to identify the emotion that was radiating off of her. ‘I wonder why she is upset.’ Naruto thought as he walked into the bathroom and started the shower.

“So what did you want to talk about Yūgao?” Naruto asked as he walked into the extended living room. He looked around his filled living room; sitting on the couch was Hinata and Haku. Sitting on the three recliners were Karin, Yūgao and Fuu. Standing around the living room were Kakashi, Asuma, Kurenai, Gai, Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, Ibiki Morino, Tsume Inuzuka and her daughter Hana. A four-man team of ANBU standing guard at the door and windows. Naruto took a seat between Hinata and Haku on the couch facing Yūgao.

“Where do you want to start?” She asked the blonde who was looking at each of the people in his apartment.

“First where is Hayate sensei and what happened to the Hokage?” Naruto asked, already knowing the answer as their grief and sadness assaulted his senses.

“They’re dead, Hayate was murdered a few weeks ago and Orochimaru killed the Hokage.” Yūgao answered her face showing the grief she felt over the loss of her love.

Naruto’s head dropped as pain spiked through his heart at the loss of one of his senseis. “What else happened at the arena?” Naruto asked looking at Fuu who blushed and looked away.

“You knocked out Gaara and Temari surrendered herself and her two brothers and you got the two Stone Jinchūriki Han and Rōshi to surrender.” Kakashi answered with an eye smile of pride.

  “So why are there two squads of ANBU here?” Naruto asked not looking at anybody. This was the question he wanted answered the most and the others emotional response ramped up his anxiousness.

“Um how do I put this?” Shikaku said before continuing. “There was an attack on a border village and some have claimed you are responsible so you have been placed under house arrest and considering you are a Jinchūriki there will be three squads of ANBU on guard 24/7 until either more evidence comes forth proving your guilt or until a new Hokage is named and appointed.” Shikaku said bluntly.

“Oh I see.” Naruto said getting up and walking out of the room.

“Naruto, where are you going?” Haku asked as they all watched the blonde leave the room.

“Why am I surprised, I’m nothing but a weapon to be used and then thrown away until needed again.” Naruto sighed before walking into his bedroom and shutting the door behind him placing a locking seal on it.

“What’s going on here?” Asuma said watching Naruto close the door. “He didn’t deny it, he knows something.” He finished looking at Kakashi then Yūgao.

“You’re right he knows something but there was something else, a resignation that whatever he said would have no meaning.” Kakashi replied his mind trying to figure out what was going through his student’s mind.

“And he’s probably pissed off that he won’t be able to train or go on any missions until a new Hokage is decided and they reinstate all of the village’s shinobi into an active roster.” Hana replied.

“Well that could have gone better but it’s done now. So what is going on about the appointment of a new Hokage?” Kurenai asked the senior Jōnin.

“First is a funeral service in three days for all the fallen shinobi and then the council will meet two days later to consider candidates for Hokage and then the senior council will advise the Feudal Lord the day after that.” Shikaku replied before answering the unanswered question. “There are three possible candidates two are the Legendary Sannin Lord Jiraiya and Lady Tsunade. And of course some crony will put his name in the mix; but the third option will most likely be Danzō.” Shikaku answered as he thought through the different possible results.

“We better watch Naruto carefully; if our guess about him being responsible for the attack on that village is correct then whoever took him also put him up to it and they may try again.” Kakashi mused aloud to the others.

“You think if Danzō isn’t chosen as Hokage he or someone else working with him will try to have Naruto assassinate the next Hokage?” Ibiki asked following Kakashi’s line of thinking.

“Yes, we’ve seen Naruto use a seven tailed Stage Two transformation, yet not two months ago he could only use a simple Chakra Cloak.” Kakashi answered. “We have no idea what happened to him in the last month, hell he might not even know what happened to him.” Kakashi sighed in resignation.

“Then we must prepare for the coming days and be on our guard.” Tsume said before the impromptu meeting broke up and everyone besides Haku, Hinata and Karin began to leave.

It was raining the day of the funeral as if the very heavens wept for the fallen defenders of Konoha. All of the shinobi capable of attending were there attending the funeral for the Third Hokage and the other Leaf shinobi that had fallen during the attack.

Naruto was standing in the front row of shinobi with Hinata to his left and Haku to his right. Next to Hinata was Asuma with his young nephew Konohamaru standing in front of him. The young boy’s sobs were the only sounds that accompanied the words being spoken about the Will of Fire and how it would be ignited in the hearts of the younger generation just as it did the people that had sacrificed everything for the village.

“*Yawn* Boring wake me up when this windbag is finished ok Naruto.” Kurama yawned in his mindscape while Naruto fought hard not to let his grin show.

The priest had just wrapped up his speech as some of the shinobi began to line up to pay respect to one or another memorial. Naruto grabbed two of the white roses of remembrance and walked towards the memorial of the Third Hokage and stood next to the crying Konohamaru.

“Naruto will it always hurt?” the boy sobbed as he looked up at his blonde idol.

“Yes it will hurt but it will dull in time, but the most important thing is it will make you strong.” Naruto said placing his right arm around the boy’s shoulder as he placed one of the roses alongside the others.

“Will you teach me? Will you train me to be strong?” The boy asked brushing the tears from his eyes.

“You really want me to train you?” Naruto asked shocked by the request.

“Yes, you ran rings around that idiot trainer I have.” Konohamaru said with conviction as he looked at Naruto with determination in his eyes.

“Do it Naruto, this will work well in your favor.” Kurama said in Naruto’s mind as he thought it over.

“Alright Konohamaru I’ll train you we will begin tomorrow at noon training ground Seven.” Naruto replied as Asuma walked over to them.

“What are you two pranksters up to?” He asked with a small smile seeing no tears in Konohamaru’s eyes.

“Naruto has agreed to help me become strong. He’s agreed to begin training me.” Konohamaru beamed up at his uncle.

“He did huh; well I guess I’ll have to watch this then.” Asuma said looking at Naruto.

“Yeah, tomorrow noon at training ground seven.” Naruto replied before walking off towards another of the memorials.

He walked up to the memorial that only had one person standing in front of it. “I’m sorry Yūgao sensei.” He said standing next to the purple haired ANBU laying the second of the white roses on the memorial.

“Thank you Naruto, but what is with this sensei business?” she asked looking sideways at the young blonde.

“Well I was wondering if you would continue my swordsmanship training.” Naruto asked looking at the purple haired female releasing some pheromones into the air. ‘I hope this works. I’m still a little rusty with these things.’ He thought almost holding his breath while waiting for Yūgao’s answer.

“I don’t know Naruto I’m not an expert like Hayate was.” She replied.

“That doesn’t matter nobody was like Hayate sensei, but you are an expert and just as good maybe even better than Hayate sensei was.” Naruto replied honestly.

“Alright Naruto I’ll continue your training and if your good enough I’ll teach you my own signature technique.” Yūgao agreed with a smile as Naruto smiled at her and stood beside her as she laid out their training.

Naruto in a dry change of clothes, a black T-shirt and black tracksuit pants was lying on his bed staring up at the ceiling while having a conversation with Kurama when he heard the door to his room open and Hinata walked in closing the door behind her.

“What’s wrong Hinata?” Naruto asked bolting up right and getting off the bed to hold his pearl eyed lover.

“I missed you when you were gone and I wanted to hold you.” She whispered as her wet clothing stuck to the exposed skin of his hands and forearms.

“I missed you as well.” He said as he leaned in to kiss her.

Breaking the kiss he decided to tease her a little. “Come on you’ll catch a cold in these wet clothes.” He said with a little wicked grin as he began to remove her clothes one piece at a time. Naruto slowly removed Hinata’s soaked clothes letting them drop to the wooden floor.

Naruto picked up the naked Hinata and leaned in for another passionate kiss as he carried her closer to his bed.

“Let’s even things out shall we.” Hinata smiled breaking the kiss and tugging on Naruto’s shirt. Naruto gently let Hinata down as she pulled his shirt up and over his head. He stretched his arms up and removed his shirt as Hinata ran her hands over the flawless skin of his torso, down to his stomach.

“Not even a little scratch. After everything you’ve been through nothing.” She remarked sadly taking her hands away from his body and turning away slightly she covered the small jagged scar that covered her left shoulder as tears formed in her eyes.

Naruto lightly placed his hands over hers and spun her around to face him. He slowly ran his hands over her scarred shoulder and up to her face to wipe away her tears. “So I should ask Kurama to leave the scars behind when I heal. Maybe it is true what they say about the ladies liking a man with scars.” Naruto joked with a mischievous smile on his face and that mischievous twinkle in his odd colored eyes as he leaned in for another kiss that left them breathless.

“Thank you Naruto.” Hinata smiled as she rested her head against his left shoulder and felt his heart beating in his chest.

They stood like that for a few minutes before Hinata leaned up to kiss Naruto and gently grabbing his wrists pulled him down onto the bed with her.

“What does this have to do with me?” Naruto sighed as he waited for them to stop beating around the bush and get to the point. ‘What are they hiding?’ Naruto thought as he looked at the photos of Orochimaru and a blonde woman.

“The blonde woman is that this Tsunade lady?” Naruto asked still going through the photos.

“Yes, your mission is to observe and determine if this information is correct and if so then capture/kill her.” Koharu said trying to hide her glee at the thought of a dead Tsunade.

“Why did you pick me and not a team of ANBU, isn’t this type of mission their job?” Naruto replied hiding his annoyance. ‘What trap have they got set for me?’ He thought as he waited for their answer.

“Because all ANBU teams are already assigned to other missions and other duties around the village so we have none to spare.” Homura replied.

“So do I get a team or am I doing this solo?” Naruto asked already knowing the answer.

“This is a solo mission and you will need to leave tonight.” Koharu replied as Homura passed a folder to Naruto.

“This is the last place Tsunade and Orochimaru were seen together the last page is the last confirmed location of Tsunade in the Land of Fire which was four days ago.” Homura said as Naruto flicked through the folder.

“Why should I take this mission?” Naruto asked skepticism all over his face.

“Take this mission and you will be released from house arrest and removed as a suspect from the investigation into the assassination of the Feudal Lord’s daughter.” Homura replied passing a mission contract to Naruto.

Naruto read through the contract and the seeing the text that they were talking about signed his name to take the mission.

“Very well, good luck with this mission and remember you need to start sometime this afternoon or tonight.” Koharu said as she and her former teammate left the apartment.

“Follow them and let me know what happens ok Kurama?” Naruto asked the miniature clone fox. The little fox yipped and raced out the door to follow Naruto’s instructions. ‘Uh what am I going to do know? What the ANBU are gone.’ Naruto thought as he couldn’t sense any of the ANBU who had been standing guard for the past week.

‘Hopefully someone here knows something.’ Naruto thought as he stopped before a burly man who stood before a large iron door.

Naruto grabbing the picture of Tsunade held it up to the guard. “Have you seen my mother? The last I heard she was heading here to win some money.” Naruto replied as innocently as possible.

He entered a large hall where a group of twelve men were gambling by rolling a pair of dice and betting on odds and evens. Around the room there were ten burly guards stationed evenly around the room.

“Hey what are you doing here kid?” asked one of the two guards who stood next to the entrance arch as the other one grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and picked him up.

He quick stepped back three steps as the second of the entrance guards attacked him. He sidestepped the charging guard and grabbing him around the neck he snapped it with a simple twist.

“Three down nineteen to go. So who wants to bet? Who will kill me first or how long it will take me to kill you all?” Naruto chirped happily as he jumped and grabbed the charging guard’s shoulders as he flipped over him. Naruto using his forward momentum as he landed threw the guard across the room to crash into the opposite wall. The sound of cracking bones echoed around the room.

“What no takers well I bet I will kill you all in less than five minutes.” Naruto laughed as he roundhouse kicked a kneeling gambler in the head sending him flipping head over heels against two other gamblers before easily slitting their throats with his hidden blade.

“Oh fifteen left and barely twenty seconds down. Ohhh a katana you mind if I take it?” Naruto chuckled as he dodged the swinging katana before heel kicking the guard in the knee, shattering it effortlessly and taking the dropped katana he lopped of the howling guard’s head.

“Fourteen left and I still haven’t broken a sweat yet.” Naruto smirked picking up the dice and throwing them as hard as he could at the two gamblers trying to flee up the stairs. One of the die hit the first man up the stairs in the middle of the back with a sickening crack as the man’s spine cracked and he toppled down the three steps to the floor. The second die hit the second man in the back of the head knocking him out instantly.

“Ouch that had to hurt, twelve more to go with four minutes left.” Naruto laughed aloud as he parried two sword strikes as he back stepped closer and closer to another guard who thought he was sneaking up on the preoccupied blonde. Naruto with a reverse grip stabbed behind him, gutting the surprised guard behind him.

“Eleven, ten, nine left now.” Naruto snickered as he watched a gambler hide under the dead body of another gambler, smearing blood on himself and playing dead, while Naruto stabbed the guard on his right in the heart and lopping off the head of the other.

“Eight, seven, six, five, four, three left and three minutes left looks like I win the bet.” Naruto laughed as he stabbed the hiding gambler. “Well that’s the last gambler down now just two puny little guards left and a whole two minutes to spare.” Naruto chortled as he backed the last two guards into a corner.

“We surrender please don’t kill us.” The first one cried throwing down his katana.

“Can you tell me which way this woman left this town?” Naruto asked holding up the picture of Tsunade.

“No, no one knows which way she left the village.” The guard said despite his pal trying to stop him.

“Shame!” Naruto whispered as he stabbed the Katana through the guard’s chest, killing him instantly he didn’t want the man to suffer needlessly for he had answered honestly. With a backhand slash he cut the throat of the last guard.

Naruto walked out of the underground gambling hall not realizing he was covered in the blood of twenty plus people. He walked down the main street of the town to the hotel he was staying at.

“Your mission not going as smoothly as you planned young ninja?” the little old lady who ran the hotel asked the dazed blonde.

It was sunrise and Naruto was just leaving his hotel when one of his clones that he had sent out thirty six hours earlier dispelled and he got the information he wanted. Tsunade was found in a town to the southwest.

“Well Kurama we know where to go now.” Naruto said picking up his back pack and left the hotel and soon had left the village far behind as the sun continued to rise in the east.
