Warnings: Kakashi was is bad shape when Iruka found him. This chapter mentions the non-prurient inspection and handling of a naked unconscious Copy Nin that Iruka must do to treat and disguise him.
Iruka set up a barrier as soon as he woke up. He wasn’t sure if the seals placed on the dogs’ tongues would allow them to materialize in the safe house without being summoned but he didn’t want to take any chances. When he was certain the ninken wouldn’t be able to interrupt he removed the blanket covering Kakashi. He sent chakra to his hands and pushed on the injured man’s arms, legs, shoulders and back bruising the areas before biting them. Iruka grabbed Kakashi’s thighs, forced them open and bit them. He slapped, squeezed, and bit Kakashi’s buttocks before parting them. He lowered his head and asked for forgiveness. He concentrated his chakra and circled Kakashi’s entrance with his pointer finger then both thumbs. He gripped Kakashi’s hips and pulled him backwards. Iruka was trembling when he rolled the man over and repeated the rough treatment on the other side. He made sure to vary the amount of chakra to leave handprints of varying stages of bruising. He removed a rope his bag and wiped his tears away from his eyes. He wrapped it around Kakashi’s wrist and twisted until the skin was raw. He slid the rope a few centimeters to the left, then right and applied chakra in each new location. He repeated the process at his knees and ankles. He then wrapped the rope around Kakashi in various bondage knots and infused each configuration with chakra so Kakashi’s skin would bear the patterns for several days. He stopped when Kakashi had enough marks to mimic several weeks of sexual abuse - that and the chuunin could no longer hold his vomit. Iruka rinsed his mouth and wiped his tears. Even though he knew what he did would probably save his comrade’s life and his methods did not have prurient motivations; he hated touching a person unable to give consent in such an intimate manner. It was one thing to bath a person and dye their skin; marking them and giving him injuries were another. He felt as though he had violated the tenets his loved ones instilled in him. In spite of Iruka’s unease, Kakashi had slept through the entire process. His breathing remained slow and deep even though it was still accompanied by wheezy rattles. His fever had broken and his pulse rate was stable enough Iruka felt comfortable moving him. He quickly cleaned the safe house and raided the cabinets. He was careful to write down how much of everything he took so Tsunade could send someone to restock it. He double checked the sheet and blanket covering Kakashi to make sure it didn’t contain the Konoha symbol or distinctive marks then swaddled the man in it. He used a blank tag he’d retrieved from one of the drawers to draw the symbol for a reverse summoning. For the second time in a few hours he was returning to his summon’s area. “Is this for me?” The creature the creature rasped while greedily eyeing Kakashi. “No, this one is mine,” Iruka replied. In theory the chakra suppressors he’d used to stitch Kakashi’s wounds should keep his energy levels low enough he wouldn’t try anything stupid; however, one didn’t become a ninja without knowing the value of insurance. Naked men went nowhere in two degree weather; Iruka smiled, “I will allow you to watch his belongings.” He deposited the man’s clothes and shoes with the difficult creature and changed into his civilian gear before Iruka teleporting both of them to Giha. Two of the clones’ memories had come to him earlier so he knew where the third was hiding. They conferred briefly. No one had passed by - ninja or civilian. Once the Cloud ninja were satisfied he was asleep they returned to the fortress and didn’t return. Iruka collected the blanket the clone had been using and dispelled it. He then carried Kakashi a mile deeper into the ravine where the clone had built a shelter. It had chosen the same area Iruka had used to stash the items he took back to the cabin. The alcove was at the intersection of two tunnels and there were various fighting implements strewn about rusting. The walls and top were formed by a collapsed building whose stone foundation had cracked and settled sideways against each other. The clone had pieced together enough wood to form a windbreak on the remaining side and had dragged over two of the large restaurant sized cauldrons and filled them with wood so all Iruka had to do was start the fire. Once both were lit Iruka huddled against the wall with Kakashi in his lap and fell asleep. He was halfway hoping one of his watchers would pass by. Ninja, let alone a jounin of Kakashi’s stature, would not be sleeping half-naked in a ravine. Something that stupid would only be done by a civilian.
There was no smell. The air is clear. It stings to breathe. Kakashi inhaled deeply the action jarring his broken ribs and disturbing the nice dream. His mind slowly registered he was no longer in the dungeon and he was actually breathing fresh but cold air. He opened his eye and winced. Bright. It was mostly dark but the approaching sunrise had turned the sky a vivid shade of reddish gray. He could feel his chakra but he couldn’t move. Bound easier to transport. Cut the binds. Kill the one holding you down. His hand instinctively reached for weapons that were not there. Iruka’s eyes opened when he felt Kakashi shifting. Cracked lips moved against his neck as he sleepily mumbled. Iruka scooted forward and added more wood to the fire. He retucked the blanket around his shivering companion and held him closer. “Sleep. You’re safe.” The soft voice was vaguely familiar. Kakashi raised his head to look at his savior but his vision was obscured by a fall of dark hair. “Who are …you?” Sleep claimed him before he could get an answer.
The sun was directly overhead when Iruka woke again. Kakashi was still unconscious but his fever had returned and his breathing was more labored. Iruka cursed as he removed the wet sheet from his skin. He used the cool side of the blanket he’d gotten from the clone to cover Kakashi’s head and his torso. He used the blanket from the safe house to encircle his lower half. The sheet was wet but he still used it to complete the swaddling and tie Kakashi to him. The journey up the side of the ravine and through the snow was grueling. He ignored the chakra signatures racing overhead and concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other one. The cabin was in sight when a strange voice called out to him, “You there! Stop!” Iruka halted as the ninja dropped down to him. “Show yourself.” He raised the hood of his parka and looked in the woman’s face. This newcomer wasn’t one of the ninja who had been guarding him. He relaxed when he realized the bespectacled brunette also wasn’t one he’d seen at the Snow daimyo’s castle. His relief was short lived when she stepped to the side and reached behind him, partially exposing Kakashi’s face. Her eyes narrowed as she drew a kunai, “Who is this and why are you carrying her?”
