On to Chapter 13 ------------------------------------ He was lost in his thoughts again; haunting memories that left him crippled and panting for breath. Naruto felt his heart twist with pain and he hissed; his panting breaths loud in his own ears. He shivered with the sudden influx of cold that settled across his body. Not even the body next to his could bring him warmth. He was still not sure how Minato had persuaded his parents to let him stay for the entire weekend but he wasn't complaining. He shifted again as he felt pain lance through his soul; he wanted to cry out. "Sorry." He whispered as he slid out of his bed; his mind was in turmoil again and he couldn't explain this sudden influx of emotional instability. He was happy yes, Minato had excepted him and shown him love that he never thought he could experience but now he really needed a comforting touch but Minato was sleeping so soundly and so peacefully that even Naruto could not find enough selfishness to wake him up. His eyes were restless; following shadows that no one could see but him. Before he could even reach his meditation room he was already caught up in the living nightmare. His bare footsteps and haggard breath not even a distraction enough to keep the memory from consuming him completely. He somehow managed to slid against the door as his arms enveloped his knees and he allowed the tears to flow over his cheeks. It was ironic but his emotional unstable state was really wreaking havoc with his body; he was tired and felt haunted by memories that didn't want to go away. But of all of them this one had to be the worst... ~ "You think you can really save me from my darkness, Naruto?" Sasuke mocked as he stared at the blond haired shinobi before him; hatred staining the air between them. "You are naive and an utter fool." The words really hurt but Naruto remained relentless in his quest to bring his best friend back from the clutches of darkness. Until now that is; he had seen the truth and he didn't like it. Maybe if he could just pretend that the boy before him was the Sasuke he had known a long time ago maybe he could delude himself into saving such a hopeless case. He didn't have time to think as a Chidori already enveloped his once friend's hand. He had just enough time to form a Rasengan and halt the progress of the dangerous jutsu. Sasuke wasn't holding back so Naruto was going to have to open his reserves of power that he had hidden away. Blue eyes shimmered to gold as he released one of his two clones that had been collecting sage chakra. "I never thought that my friend could fall so low." Naruto whispered to himself as he prepared for another attack; Sasuke may have been fast but he did not know that Naruto had inherited a lot from his father and mother. It was less than a second later that he was standing atop Gamabunta's head and braced himself for the incoming impact of Sasuke's katana. Metal clanged in the clearing as his kunai absorbed the brunt of the weapon charged with lightning. He saw those black and red eyes and frowned at the new pattern; so he had really gained the Mangekyou Sharingan? He felt Sasuke's chakra spike as he activated his technique but Naruto didn't waver and stared straight into those eyes. "Why isn't it working?!" Sasuke sounded frustrated and angry and Naruto allowed a smirk to pass his lips; it was cruel but it served its purpose in attracting Sasuke's attention. He felt his own body sing with power... "Because I control the chakra around me including that which I let into my body Sasuke. My Sage Mode allows me an affinity to al Genjitsu type attack; not even a Mangekyou Sharingan can effect me. Now let's leave the underhanded attacks aside Sasuke and fight for real since you crave it so much." Naruto said as he pushed back causing Sasuke to fall from Gamabunta's head. "Yo, kid. What do you need me for?" Bunta growled as he reached for his own dagger. "Do you mind keeping an extra eye around the surroundings and taking out anyone who is willing to jump into the fray. This fight is going to big and gruesome and I want to keep innocents out of it." "Right; be safe Naruto. Yell if you need me." With that Bunta took off. "You're distracted Naruto." The voice was close to him and Naruto flinched as he jumped away. Leaving Sasuke's katana buried in the ground where he had stood only a millisecond before. He needed a distraction but was startled by the feel of a cold chakra bursting forth from Sasuke. Golden eyes fixed on the summons that surrounded his friend. It was frighteningly familiar to Kyuubi's chakra but much, much colder. "What it that?" He yelled as he summoned two Kage Bunshins to his aid. He mentally worked out his chances as he looked at the skeletal being; he had enough sennin chakra for four Rasen-shurikens but that would also be his limit. He was still injured from his previous battle and wary to use Kyuubi's power even when he had learned to control the fox. "My ultimate defence." "Well I'm just going to have to break it!" Naruto yelled as he felt his wind element technique take shape. The sound was high pitched and spoke of danger but it also hummed with power unknown to those around him. He felt Kyuubi stir and allowed the fox's chakra to add to his already increased amount; a little more... "Fuuton: Rasen-shuriken!" Power exploded around him but Naruto fell back surprised as Sasuke didn't seem affected. He frowned; now what was he going to do? His eyes widened as he observed blood tears dripping from Sasuke's right eye; he knew those tears and jumped aside just as a beam of black flames engulfed the area where he had fallen only moments ago. He wasn't surprised however when a normal Katon attack was thrown at him; he hissed when it burned across his skin but he remembered what Kakashi had told him about wind element being weak against fire. He wondered what would happen if he combined the two but it was a major risk. He had enough chakra left to fuel another Rasen-shuriken but this time he was going to absorb the fire that Sasuke so kindly threw at him. Kyuubi chakra was also fire natured so with careful concentration he formed a glowing red wind and fire element Rasengan. He could feel his sage chakra fade into the Rasengan as he desperately tried to control the raging power now swirling above his head. "Take it back Sasuke." Naruto said quietly as he felt guilt settle like a stone in his stomach. He was panting as pain lanced through his body. His hand was burned pretty badly but it wasn't going to hold him back. He had to find a way to get rid of Sasuke's ultimate defence but how? If it was a summoning then a powerful technique like the one he had just merged could easily dispel it. He stared as the newly Rasengan made contact and promptly exploded in a high pitched sound that left him even wishing to cover his own ears; watching as power exploded outwards before pulling inwards again. Yes; it worked but now the real fight was about to begin... He stopped feeling anything as he allowed Kyuubi's controlled chakra to flow over his body in a golden shimmer. Sasuke was also panting for breath; so keeping that summons as his defence takes a lot of effort. The katana in Sasuke's hand screeched with lightning as Sasuke prepared for a full bodied Chidori but Naruto wasn't going to stand still so he moved; he was suddenly glad he had an affinity for his father's incredible speed. He yelled however when he came to a stop as a large shuriken buried itself in his back. "Attacking an opponent when their back is turned towards you? Unforgivable." Naruto did not understand where the anger came from but it spurred him on as he yanked at the shuriken buried in his back. Wincing as pain suddenly lanced through his entire body as he tried to pull air into his lungs; it wasn't working very well. It must have penetrated deeper than he had thought. In his hand was a kunai as he lunged forward; the world around him was a blur as he allowed his anger to carry him further. Unconsciously he also called upon more of Kyuubi's power and wasn't surprised when a fully formed fox tail shot at Sasuke and buried through his stomach. The orange fur was now covered red blood that seeped from the fatal wound. Kunai clanged against katana as panting breaths mixed and the scent of blood was heavy in the air. "You know that this last shot will be the deciding factor right?" Naruto said softly and was surprised by the pained sneer that was thrown his way. "I will not loose to you." "Neither will I." Naruto said as he jumped back; blood was flowing freely down his back and it was getting more difficult to breathe but he had enough power left for another Rasengan. He poured all of his power into it and shaped it with wind again; he knew it was dangerous but he also knew that if he didn't do it he really would be dead. He didn't have to time to think as a powerful Chidori clashed against his Rasen-shuriken. It hurt but he didn't stop in allowing the last of his energy to fuel the already dangerous technique. He didn't know how long blue eyes were locked with hate filled coal black but he never gave up. It was over when he felt Sasuke crumble beneath him and he himself fell to his knees. "I can't keep up with you anymore; Naruto." Those words shot pain through his chest. Had Sasuke just admitted defeat? Blue eyes widened as he stared at vacant black. A deep wound opened itself on his heart and a loud cry echoed through the clearing; dead black eyes stared back at him. He had just killed his first friend even he didn't mean to. He just wanted to stop himself by being affected by the powerful Chidori but he didn't want this; no he was supposed to save Sasuke not kill him... ---------------------------------- Minato was restless in his sleep; his dreams were vivid and haunting at the same time. He shivered when he felt cold brush up against his body. He knew he was awake but his mind still lingered in the realm of sleep; something told him he should get up. "Naruto?" He said softly as he opened his eyes to stare at nothing. He knew Naruto should be next to him; fast asleep but why wasn't he? A sudden wave of panic assaulted his senses but Minato relaxed when he felt his connection with Naruto flare with his chakra. He wasn't far away; so with soft steps he walked through the house. It was cold and the cotton sleep pants were not helping much. He searched out for Naruto's chakra and frowned when he felt it spike before stilling again. He sighed; really just what was going on. He reached Naruto's meditation room and stepped through the shoji doors and frowned when he saw Naruto curled in on himself against one of the far walls. "Naruto, are you alright?" He said softly as he slid down the wall next to Naruto and pulled the shivering body against his own. "Painful memory; I'll be fine in a while." Minato just nodded as he pulled Naruto in his lap and rested his chin on Naruto's head and imprisoned the Kyuubi container in his arms. Naruto seemed lost to himself but Minato didn't let go; warmth surrounded them and soon Naruto's shivering stopped and his breathing evened out considerably. "Better?" He asked softly. Sometimes even Minato knew when not to ask for details and this was definitely one of those times. "Yeah. Thanks." Naruto's voice was not above a whisper but it seemed lighter than usual. As if this experience had wiped some regret and guilt from his tortured soul. Minato nodded as he offered his silent support; he himself was confused as to what exactly had happened but he wasn't complaining if this helped heal Naruto a bit it would mean the world to him. ~ "I swear I leave for a second and you disappear already. I'm not sure exactly what's going Naru-chan but I'm taking you for a spar tomorrow. You need to blow off some steam; you over think things and I'm afraid for your safety." Minato said as climbed back into the large canopy bed again and literally dragged Naruto's body against his. "I'm not letting you go; how many times do I have to tell you until you start believing me?" He asked desperately. He was getting frustrated because he made progress to separate Naruto from his painful memories but then it happens again. Maybe he needed to distract the blonde more. That could easily be arranged... "Living a long live makes one doubt yourself for every single mistake you made in your life. Sometimes even I am blind to things around me; I'm sorry for that." "Naruto! Stop apologizing! Yare, yare; what am I going to do with you? It hurts me to see you like this and I cannot do a damn thing about it. Anyways; we are going to spar tomorrow; I need to get acquainted with my chakra again and you really need to forget about reality for a while." Minato said as he pulled Naruto's body close against his chest. "But where; there isn't a place here that isn't viewable to human eyes. If we go for an all out spar it would be like announcing we both are not from this world." Naruto's words held some truth but Minato hissed in frustration. Now what were they going to do? "Wait; Minato will you be willing to sign the contract with the Toads Village again?" Naruto asked as he turned around in Minato's arms to face the Namikaze fully. "Yes. Why?" he asked with a frown; what had that to do with the fact that they were going to spar? "You never knew did you?" Naruto snickered. There was something that Minato the great Yondaime never knew? "Their village is hidden completely from view; no human can find it unless they are a part of the contract." "Oh; I see. But how're we going to get there? Isn't it like a month away if we go by foot?" Minato asked as he drew upon the information that was no longer dormant in his mind. "You and all your knowledge of space and time no jutsu should know this but I guess you never got to sage training did you? It's called a reverse summoning. We simply have to ask them to summon us there instead of summoning them here." Minato looked sceptical and Naruto laughed. "I can't explain the details to you since I really don't know them that well but trust me on this okay?" Minato looked at the sudden light that shimmered in Naruto's eyes and he smiled; nodding his head in consent. He would trust Naruto; not only with his life but with his soul as well. "Gamabunta is going to be really happy to see you again and he has been complaining of the boring life that now exists in the village. I hope you're not shy in front of an audience because they are going to want to watch the spar between Konoha's Yellow Flash and Uzumaki Naruto. He once told me that it is always the best to watch family members spar because their chakra intensified by resonating off of each other." Suddenly as if a wind had whisked away his troubling thoughts; Naruto was really excited. Maybe this was what he had needed? Once again Minato had made him forget completely what he had done and wiped away the darkness that threatened to engulf his heart. "That's what I wanted to see." Minato said as he smiled; Naruto was slowly but surely becoming like himself again. He startled when he felt a harsh bite to his lower lip; he jerked back and stared at mischievous blue eyes. "You're not paying attention to what I'm saying." Naruto pouted incredulously as he leant forward to nibble at that delectable lower lip. Swiping his tongue across the abused area before tugging on the soft; sweet flesh again. Minato had stiffened beneath him and Naruto frowned had he done something wrong? "Naruto stop thinking." Minato growled as he managed to turn them over; he had settled himself between Naruto's legs as he hovered over the clothed chest of his lover. Naruto felt his cheeks flush at the sight before him. It was in the early hours of the morning and the room was already covered with a lighter darkness but his eyes could take in every detail. A smooth expanse of tanned skin and a toned chest; blue eyes already clouded with lust and blonde hair that was even messier than before but did not take away the sultry air that now emanated off of Minato. "Fuck." Was all he managed to say before his mouth was devoured in a hungry kiss; he didn't fight back and offered his submission but that also didn't mean that he did not make and effort to please his lover. "Naruto don't do things like that and not expect me to react to them." Minato purred; oh he was going to enjoy himself and make sure Naruto did too even if he had to use underhanded tricks to do it... ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Thanks for the read; I'll see you again soon.
